Horrors of violence towards women on October the 7th suppressed

It looks like the UN may have been reluctant to investigate or highlight the sickening sexual violence committed on October 7th. It also appears some of the hostages may have been abused.

Was this because the horrendous violence doesn't fit in with that purely Palestinians are victims of this ongoing conflict? Are investigations into these crimes because women are viewed as second class citizens or the revelations 'muddy the waters' where some just want to see one side as the victim.

An Israeli campaigner says militants planned acts of sexual violence committed in October's attack.

@Humdingerydoo it does already exist on more than one thread.

pickledandpuzzled · 05/12/2023 17:44

@braticus hence #me too unless you’re a Jew.

You don’t believe multiple eye witness accounts about the state of the bodies, and what victims saw.

Depdawg · 05/12/2023 17:47

I've been thinking also about the men who were sexually assaulted.
I don't want to forget about them.

stormy4319trevor · 05/12/2023 17:49

But if you care about rape and think women should be believed, I guess you believe Palestinian women and children and that you are outraged zbout that too. Funny none of you say you object to sexual abuse that's alleged to have gone on for years. Selective outrage. Let's hope all claims are investigated and justice done.

Again, post about it on another thread and I'm sure you'll receive the outrage you're seeking. I'm finding it difficult to object to something that's allegedly been going on for years without any of the facts. So feel free to provide those facts on another thread

I don't know why you assume we don't care. It's just that some of us want to
Spend some time discussing events of 7/10 and pay our respects to those victims.
we don't want to forget the severity of those attacks by the filthy terrorists.

Oh come on. They know exactly what they're doing and it's barbaric.

And no, that does not mean I condone Hamas and their equally barbaric actions.

Suggesting that Israel's actions are in any way targeted at civilians is simply not true.

stormy4319trevor · 05/12/2023 17:54

Info is widely available. I've finished anyway, but my point stands. Care about all sexual violence, not just some.

I agree. There is also a false equivalence of the acts by the two states.

There was also eye witness accounts of 40 beheaded babies and babies strung up on clothing lines which turned out to be false. Hence why I said I will reserve judgement until the investigation has been completed.

No doubt you have been starting threads about this for years and will be able to link to them on your new thread.

There is undeniable, corroborated evidence for the rape and abuse and murder that took place on 7th October.

What you are referring to is highly questionable. Even if such things took place and some soldiers went rogue and abused their position(and I've never heard of this), it was not done systematically at the instigation of the government. Hamas is deliberately using rape as a weapon of war.

Oh well, in that case, the Hamas footage
was a chip off the old block.
Nothing to see there.
Deary me.

It's not that people don't believe women. It's that they don't believe Israel. The Israeli government has been caught in so many lies it's difficult to keep count. These claims of horrific rapes are being used to justify a genocide so I don't think it's too much to ask for some empirical evidence before casting judgement.

It's the women that are saying it though

Why don't you believe them ? How much evidence do you need?

TwilightSkies · 05/12/2023 17:57

Suggesting that Israel's actions are in any way targeted at civilians is simply not true.

Bombing multiple hospitals, schools, civilian apartment blocks…. Blowing thousands of children up.
They’re bombing bakeries now, to starve the Palestinians even more. Or maybe Hamas were using loaves of bread as human shields or some shit?

How can ANYONE say Israel isn’t targeting civilians???

Silence1 · 05/12/2023 17:57

SomeCatFromJapan · 05/12/2023 16:52

It’s awful OP. As is the response from Israel. Both as wicked each other.

I don't actuall y think so. I think willfully raping girls till their pelvises break, and slicing their breasts off, is the most wicked, in any context.

And Israeli soldiers are murdering, mutilating and condemning children/ women to slow painful deaths. Shooting children in the head,
I come back on here to see people repeating the same thing over and over again in order to desperately justify what Israel is doing.

It doesn't work.

Hamas and Israel are both guilty of atrocities. And when people in the UK take their Christmas holidays whilst watching murder and destruction in Gaza they won't remember these women. Its crushingly sad but it's the path the democratically elected extremist Israeli Govt is taking.

Baircasolly · 05/12/2023 17:57

I think too many men have some idea in their heads of Grade 1 crimes (murder) and Grade 2 crimes (everything else), and they genuinely believe that rape is exactly the same as any other form of GBH.

This is why sexual violence is seen by so many in power as not particularly worth investigating as a separate war crime. I think pretty much all women understand the reality of it in a completely fundamental way.

They are not targeting specifically, as Hamas did.
This thread is about Hamas.

backtowinter · 05/12/2023 17:59

@stormy4319trevor Link to your threads about the rape of Palestinian prisons and I'd be happy to comment

Why is it so difficult for people to accept that Hamas are using these facilities and the people within them as a protection?! They are deliberately using hospitals and kindergartens as launch pads and weapons depots. And before targeting the bases, Israel warns civilians.

I just don't understand why people aren't getting it.

I’m starting to detect a slight hint of hypocrisy here….
A victims testament is proof enough. Except when it isn’t.

pickledandpuzzled · 05/12/2023 18:03

Israel are targeting Hamas networks and structures that Hamas have nested within soft targets. Deliberately. A Palestinian being interviewed in a hospital was complaining about before the journalist cut him off.

Hamas are responsible for the civilian deaths in Gaza.

First of all, this thread is about Hamas, not the IDF. Why are you against Hamas being exposed?

Second of all, no. They are not slowly killing and mutilating women and children. This is false information and you should take care before disseminating propaganda taken straight from Hamas sources.
