This is a lovely charity that has a little shop in London but also sells online.

"Since 1976, Kisharon has provided innovative support to individuals with complex learning disabilities and their families. Kisharon offers lifelong learning by teaching life skills and giving greater independence to those it helps. Our forward thinking, person-centred approach to working with learning difficulties and associated physical problems improves lives daily and creates valuable disability awareness, changing people’s perceptions of those with learning difficulties."

Why are so many of you coming onto this thread to cause trouble? You want to talk sad and petty?

Well I'm reporting posts and hopefully others will be doing the same later.

Sometimes it is better to leave people's opinions in sunlight.

The level of ignorance regarding the Jewish faith is staggering. Jews do not celebrate Christmas because they do not believe Jesus as being of divine origine.

...and most 'christians' know the pagan origins of Christmas and Easter timing but observe them in the spirit of peace and thanksgiving that their faith informs them to.

Here's a British charity to support. I wonder whether the objectors to this thread will object to this suggestion, or laugh at it.

Thank you.

Sodastream. Not only is one of their main manufacturing plants in Israel, but company policy is to work for peace and equality between Israelis, Israeli Arabs and Palestinians.

This needs to be small business that are being targeted by vandalism etc not massive companies with huge profits anyway

fuckssaaaaake · 25/11/2023 07:07

@quantumbutterfly actually we as a family celebrate Christmas and are Jewish, as do most of our circle, we just do it differently to Christians...as most people are not celebrating the religious side anyway we are probably not that different to everyone else. Fact check before being so offended for others!

You seem to confuse the freedom of speech definition with the consequences of using it inappropriately. I know the difference and I live in harmony with my neighbours.
I have taught religious education for 20 years. I have read the Bible, the Torah, the Qu'ran and the Hadith. While I am no expert, I am knowledgeable.
Your examples show your ignorance ( and dare I say your veiled islamophobia) regarding Islam and Christianity ( Christians have also committed atrocities throughout history in the name of God).
Terrorists hide behind Islam because most people. like you, are ignorant of what being a true Muslim means. Look up the 5 pillars of Islam. It's a good start.
I forgot to mention, i am an atheist so I do not favour one faith over another.

Popping on to derail and grandly await everyone's reaction is what's self important.

How sweet that rather than the outrage she expected we have mild amusement at best

Please don't tell me you are teaching about this conflict. How can you when you are so entrenched on one side.

Good for you. I know people of many faiths who enjoy Christmas as you do. Wasn't offended in the least by anyone's posts, just exasperated by the determination to pick a fight.

Wow! Personal insults are the lowest form of expressing a disagreement. They do not contain rationality but rather slam the door on understanding and end any possibility of dialogue. Insulting is both the expression of an inability to maintain self-control and the absence of valid reasons with which to dismantle the other’s speech. That is why Diogenes said that “An insult dishonours the one who utters it, not the one who receives it."
Fighting for freedom of speech? Are you a crusader? A defender of the oppressed? Practice what you preach!

Yes, I wouldn't generally buy from Israeli businesses, but Jewish ones, and any charity in Israel or beyond working for peace, I would. I came on to read the posts to find the majority aren't recommendations, but insults.

Just a thought but had some posters decided not to deliberately come on this thread to goad....
Seems some can very eloquently (well when they are getting the quotes right) dish it out, but can't take it. The accusations of play ground bulling hence commence
Are you deliberately being short sighted in not seeing @Auvergne63 first post on here?

Stomacharmeleon · 25/11/2023 10:50

@Auvergne63 if you feel so strongly about it a. I don't know why you would be on this thread and b. You can feel free to leave.

If you act in a playground manner you will be met with a playground response.

It's derailing the thread which is not allowed.

I saw it, but you get the same on other threads (sometimes from posters complaining about Auvergne on this one), and anyone who mentions detailing is shouted down for trying to dictate who can post and where.
I ignore anything I find goady or derailing now, but there are literally pages of insults now. I imagine it will put some off the original purpose of the thread.
