Or World Jewish Relief, who do not require you to be Jewish in order to get their support, nor do they proselytise.

Or Magen David Adom, Israel's equivalent of the International Red Cross. MDA operate Israel's ambulance service, but most people do not realise that they are also first responders in natural disasters internationally.

The level of ignorance regarding the Jewish faith is staggering. Jews do not celebrate Christmas because they do not believe Jesus as being of divine origine.

Speak for yourself. I have a Jewish friend who loves Christmas. She always has a lovely tree and sends me a Christmas card. Even non-Christians enjoy Christmas, you know.

All my Jewish friends and family enjoy Christmas & actively take part.

Sodastream. Not only is one of their main manufacturing plants in Israel, but company policy is to work for peace and equality between Israelis, Israeli Arabs and Palestinians.

I really hope this is true I love sodastream and would buy in a heartbeat.

smilesup · 24/11/2023 19:52

I am a very neutral bystander. I have both Israeli relatives and Palestine relatives. (Neither of which are living in Gaza or Israel in the last 15 years).
I personally feel that I can't support any companies that prop up either side. Therefore all of my money is going to support the humanitarian organisation (red cross, medicine San frontiers etc). I genuinely don't care which side that is alone as people are being helped.

Voltaire said " I don't agree with what you say but I will fight to the death for you to have the right to say it." This is freedom of speech.
You do not know me but yet feel entitled to make assumptions about my character. Please refrain from making personal attacks.

No, he didn't. 🙈

It's a paraphrasing of Evelyn Beatrice Hall of what she thought Voltaire was thinking.

Freedom of speech is not and never has been an absolute right. Instead, it is a qualified right and also subject to conditions as well as consequences.

What you're doing is derailing from the thread topic and you know it. Additionally, you already know there's a thread regarding ways to support Palestinians and Palestinian businesses. Post on that one. 🤷‍♂️

@Morningbreak is 100% in their assessment of your own posts. 🤔

Where sells Jewish Christmas cards?

err…..I don’t think Jews have Christmas !

Or maybe it is for people who don't want to take sides and recognise there is a massive lot of innocent people suffering on both sides... A Here is a thread for Scottish based gifts isn't anti-English or Irish or Welsh and would be happily posted alongside threads about each of those other countries...why is this seen as goady? I think you see the world in a suspicious manner @LindorDoubleChoc which says more about you than it does the OP.

Quite obviously Scotland hasn't bombed 12,000 + people to death in the last few weeks. If they had a thread about Scottish or Welsh based gifts might have a different feel right at this particular time in history.

LindorDoubleChoc · 24/11/2023 20:15

But if you think Brumbies, a first time poster or name changer just for this thread, is posting in good faith - then carry on.

crackofdoom · 24/11/2023 20:16

B'tselem (possible spelling error)- an Israeli organisation campaigning for Palestinian rights (and to free the hostages).

sayitkindly · 24/11/2023 20:19

Came across this site whilst looking for a different site that I thought/hoped I'd bookmarked that had a list of gifts that could be bought from small Israeli businesses. It's a UK registered charity based in London the site explains that they are seeking financial support for those in Israel, small businesses and individuals who have been evacuated/displaced because of the current war

I think this is a reverse so the OP can identify businesses to boycott!

I needed a laugh, so thank you.

@LittleMsTellTheTruth Interesting to see you don’t support initiatives promoting peace and equality in the region. I wonder why not?*

Probably doesn't believe that any Israelis could be working for peace and equality with non-Jews.

I've got no skin in this game. Not Jewish and my moral compass is all over the place. But I do know this: thousands and thousands of Israelis work for peace and equality and yet another sad thing about the 7th is that some of those killed or kidnapped chose to live near Gaza precisely in order to work for peace. Incidentally I thought everyone knew about the initiative of Daniel Barenboim, and now his son Michael. There are very many programmes and initiatives like his in all areas of life in Israel. So advocate all you like for Palestine (and I will too) but don't be an ignorant dick Dilbertian.

How self-important of you.

Dilbertian · 24/11/2023 20:46

I am not being a dick @Bideshi. You are a rarity. The vast majority of people have a very shallow understanding of Israeli life and believe that every Israeli hates all Arabs and supports Netanyahu.

People often look no further than 'A hates B', and assume that anyone who shares a significant characteristic with A will also hate anyone who shares a significant characteristic with B.

Most people, including many Jews, think that the charities I posted links to support only Jews. And many Christians don't believe that these charities do not require engagement with Judaism in exchange for their support, because many Christian charities do require engagement with Christianity.

Auvergne63 · 24/11/2023 20:50

ProvincialLady1 · 24/11/2023 20:43

As self important as anyone who supports anything. No more no less.

ProvincialLady1 · 24/11/2023 20:51

Popping on to derail and grandly await everyone's reaction is what's self important.

If you had taken the time to read the previous posts, you would have noticed that I have acknowledged my mistake regarding the quote's origin.
Definition of freedom of speech: “Freedom of speech” refers to the fundamental right to express ourselves freely, and to hold our own opinions and ideas, sharing those views with others without fear of censorship or legal sanction.
In addition, The right to freedom of expression has been recognised as a fundamental human right in the Universal Declaration of human right and International Human Right Laws by the UN.
By telling me to post on another thread, you are denying in fact me the right to express my opinions on this thread.
The irony!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/11/2023 21:16

There are a few posters that can't help but post on every thread

And one or two who between them must have started dozens if not scores by now - all of them thoroughly one sided, and many with an opening post containing glaring inaccuracies

Fortunately however there's no obligation to give them the oxygen of attention

To go back to the OP: I believe Wix (similar to WordPress etc) is Israeli, if you happen to be planning on setting up your own website.
