It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

Israel and its allies are repurposing the goals and lies of 1948 – in Gaza in 2023

Israel is openly carrying out ethnic cleansing inside Gaza, driving Palestinians outside their homeland as happened in 1948. And yet, just as during the first “Nakba”, Israel's lies and deceptions dominate the West’s media and political narrative.

Just saw this news:

BREAKING| The Red Crescent: Israeli drones are opening fire at everything that moves around Al Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis and our teams cannot reach the casualties.

self defence against all those dangerous medics trying to save peoples lives, no doubt

One child is killed every 8 minutes in Gaza.

Two mothers are killed every one hour in Gaza.

It’s not war. It’s genocide.

Oh yes! those evil Hamas card carrying Doctors and Nurses! No doubt IDF will say the healthcare staff are harbouring Hamas. And the world will continue to turn a blind eye as another hospital is destroyed and more already sick and injured civilians are killed - not to mention the staff too.

I’ve just read what I think is the crux of the issue:

“If you support Israel’s onslaught against Gaza then, by definition, you value Palestinian life far less than Israeli civilian life.

There is no getting around that basic fact.

Pretending otherwise is self deception.”

Actually, I apologise. I see now that you did briefly mention the Second Temple. But for reference, that is what Jews tend to refer to it as in English, not Herod's Temple. I still feel that you didn't emphasise anywhere near enough just how important the two temples were to Jews at the time and how significant the site still is today. But maybe that's a 'me problem' from reading all your other posts and reading that specific post in the same tone as your other ones. Maybe I should have given you the benefit of the doubt. Maybe you do think the temple mount is incredibly important to Jews and that Jews therefore have a legitimate claim to the land.

Interesting.

What should I call the Temple of Zerubbabel? Do modern Jews no longer make the distinction between Zerubbabel and Herod's temple?

@Cailleachian thank you, I have learned a lot from your posts.

As you well know, that would be the first temple. It's really not very complicated. We have the first temple and the second temple. They were both incredibly important to the Jews so I appreciate you taking your time to acknowledge that Judaism has a legitimate and ancient link to the land.

For all the differences between Islam, Christianity and Judaism, the one thing they all agree on is that the first temple is the Temple of Solomon built to house the ark of the covenant containing the stone tablets of the ten commandments in the area of the Holy of Holies. That temple was destroyed in approx 500BC.

Zerubbabel then rebuilt a modest temple on the return of the jews from exile from Babylon, (which I what I was always led to believe was referred to as Zerubbabel's temple in Judaism). Herod then significantly refurbished and expanded the temple a couple of hundred years later. Christians make no distinction between Zerubbabel's original temple and the Temple of Herod, calling both the second temple.

By the time of Mohammed's birth, there was no temple on the site - it was destroyed by the Roman's in 70AD. Mohammed;s night journey was to the site of the temple of Solomon, and Al Asqa mosque was built within the temple compound on the site of the original temple.

(I fear we are derailing the thread tho)

Oh sorry, I wasn't paying attention. This is the problem with replying from my phone on the go.

Yes, they're both the second temple. Herod just renovated and extended it. We tend not to make a distinction though. There is the first temple and then there's the second temple.

Sorry, please ignore my previous post.

Most of the 2.3 mil civilians are now displaced, some multiple times. I saw one mother who was crying saying this is torture after trying to evacuate from khan younis today, this is her 7th time being forced to move with her family. Its outrageous that they are being shoehorned into smaller and smaller places which lack inadequate facilities for even basic living and little to no good. The latest report shows over 570,000 people face catastrophic hunger right now in Gaza

Thank you @EasterIssland , really good news report.

I wonder, can anyone tell me what were the circumstances for UN peacekeepers to go into Bosnia? This isn’t a rhetorical question. I’m intrigued as to what the trigger needs to be. Or would that be if the ICJ rules in favour of SA? Please god.

From sky news

Two hospitals in Khan Younis are being "raided" as Israeli forces encircle the southern city, officials have said.
Christian Lindmeier, spokesperson for the World Health Organization (WHO), said al Khair and Nasser Hospital were both under siege.
At Nasser Hospital in particular, he said there is "no way in and out".
"I know it must be a horrible scenario on the ground there with people not knowing what the next minutes will bring," he said.
Israel earlier told residents to leave the areas around the Nasser Hospital and al Amal Hospital.

@Parkingt111 how can anyone justify this, it’s truly sick.

It's absolutely clear in there that he has been shot holding a white flag. How can they accuse Itv of doctoring the video is quite unbelievable.
The poor man and his poor family.

inkworks273 · 24/01/2024 11:21

So an itv cameraman catches the IDF executing an unarmed man and the IDF are saying it's been edited? Unbelievable.

AliceA2021 · 24/01/2024 11:23

That's awful. Poor man.

Finallyloggedin · 24/01/2024 11:29

It’s pure evil, isn’t it?

But the idf often doctor videos, don’t they? So I guess they are accusing the itv of what they actually themselves do.

This post talks about the methods of engagement by the IDF, its no suprise that the man was shot holding a white flag after reading this

Out of the Russian playbook.

Sunak refused to condemn this shooting at PMQs.
