It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

Israel and its allies are repurposing the goals and lies of 1948 – in Gaza in 2023

Israel is openly carrying out ethnic cleansing inside Gaza, driving Palestinians outside their homeland as happened in 1948. And yet, just as during the first “Nakba”, Israel's lies and deceptions dominate the West’s media and political narrative.

On this day, January 13, 2004:

British photography student Tom Hurndall died after being shot by an Israeli sniper in Gaza nine months earlier.

Tom was shot in the head in April 2003 while trying to rescue children from Israeli gunfire in Gaza. He was 21 when an Israeli military sniper shot him in the head as he rescued young Palestinian girls from Israeli gunfire.

Tom was wearing an orange fluorescent vest to mark himself as an unarmed civilian.

"What do I want from this life? I want to be proud of myself. When I die, I want to smile because of the things I have done, not cry for the things I haven't done. I will die with images of earthly heavens in my eyes" – Tom Hurndall

Gazans running to a food truck only to be then shot at by Israeli Occupation Forces.

How on earth, with scenes like this, can anyone keep walking around pretending everything is ok while our government supports a regime openly committing genocide.

There were no shots fired on that footage just people running to the trucks.
Unless it's the wrong bit of footage?

I read about this - so sad.

@stomachameleon no worries. It was just that really, what we discussed before: in the face of the brutal occupation what do you believe Palestinian resistance should look like? Not what it shouldn’t be but what it should be? How can the Gazans as well as other Palestinians protest their treatment by the idf. Not just since October 7th but before that too.

I think I remember you saying that you are opposed to what the illegal settlers are doing, for example, but how do you think Palestinians in the West Bank can overcome them? What paths are open to them?

OP posts:
stomachameleon · 14/01/2024 22:35

I know it's awful now but I sincerely hope that this conflict will bring a solution to the West Bank issue that everyone is happy with as it cannot continue. Areas that are set aside for both Israeli and Palestinians that are agreed. And this is driven by other countries as it's clear that life as it is cannot continue. No one I know backs or agrees with the settlers and they have become a law unto themselves (I agree not stamped on or dealt with)

What does resistance look like? That's so difficult to say as I am still in shock as to what happened. I imagine everyone has their personal feeling on what is acceptable. I do think that Hamas could have done far more and turned inward to improve the conditions in Gaza. Not look with hate outwards. But that's not their game plan. I do not understand the insane anger on here with regard to Israel whilst it's still being bombed and attacked. I often wonder what happened if they just stopped? Almost played chicken. I think Israelis would be slaughtered. And you have to see why that can't happen? I would give people the option to leave from Gaza but go where? I imagine it's been discussed.

I genuinely hope above all else that this resets the situation in Israel and Gaza and that people just get sick of hatred and violence. That they value life both sides of the divide. But I think a clean sweep is needed both sides in government and I support that.

I don't have the answers. If I did I would be working in diplomacy and the internal wrangling's of teenagers is enough for me.

But I pray for peace.

@stomachameleon think this is another video where shooting can be heard and it’s from the same place as the video from @Finallyloggedin

@EasterIssland I don't mind watching videos (-after all knowledge is power) but low-key is a known antisemite so will fake anything he posts with a pinch of salt.

BelleHathor · 15/01/2024 07:29

Isn't that accusation re: Lowkey potentially libellous without evidence to back it up.

stomachameleon · 15/01/2024 07:33

There is plenty of evidence and it's been discussed on here before. You only need google.

As should Hamas of course.

Always an afterthought in your emotive rhetoric.

The girl in the middle was dragged on a bike and taken to Gaza screaming. Her mum is dying. Where is the humanity?

Please do all you can to object to the genocide of Palestinians

From what I saw this account was reposting from someone else (as I found another account posting the same video)

this is a different one

There is nothing emotive about it, just facts, there is no medical supplies in Gaza and few hospital facilities, so what do you think happens to the people injured?

What happened on 7/10 was horrendous but international law is clear, civilians must be protected where ever possible, the IDF have not done this, even now they refuse to allow significant aid into Gaza.

Not an afterthought, its just that the title of the thread is about the Palestinians.

So you don't believe the video? Why, out of interest? Do you think shooting civilians is something the IDF wouldn't do, or is there another reason?

Why is this shocking? Is it Israel's fault that Hamas carried out their terrorist attack? There are terror threats everyday in Israel. You surely can't expect them to anticipate and curtail every attack. They don't have a NSA or GCHQ you know.

This makes me very angry, but I’m not shocked. I’m sure the IDF have the same issues as organisations like this in any country, and I can see how easy it would be for them to dismiss the reports of young low ranking females. Also, why were they sat by the border without guns? Their information was dismissed and they weren’t even given the chance to defend themselves.

As a matter of interest, why are you "angry"? Seems to me like your anger should be based at Hamas who did start the conflict.

Are you really unable to see why this could make me feel angry? Or is it that you take issue at the direction of this anger?

Can I not simultaneously be angry at many things?

Are you angry at Hamas or Israel?

If so, why?

PeasfullPerson · 15/01/2024 11:20

@saveallthewhales My initial reaction to your question is that you are simply trying to deflect attention away from the issue I am discussing, but I will try to suspend that belief. In short, because I don’t have the time or inclination to write an essay, I will simply say I am angry at both the leaders of Hamas and Israel. And while you may think this unfair, because Israel is a prosperous democratic country, and an ally, I hold them to higher standards.

Now, can you really not see why I would be angry that these young female soldiers warnings were not taken seriously? Are you not angry, that yet again, more women have been let down by an organisation that is meant to protect them?
