It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

Israel and its allies are repurposing the goals and lies of 1948 – in Gaza in 2023

Israel is openly carrying out ethnic cleansing inside Gaza, driving Palestinians outside their homeland as happened in 1948. And yet, just as during the first “Nakba”, Israel's lies and deceptions dominate the West’s media and political narrative.

Jesus was a Jew living in Judea.
Palestine did not exist then and not until the destruction of the second temple.

@saveallthewhales I am not sure what your getting at. My statement was based on historical fact.

Xenia · 12/01/2024 11:39

Mumsnet is doing a good job of allow those of us with strong views on both sides to post. it also keeps the channels of communication open. StomaC is right that Jesus was a jew who lived in Judea.
This is a lovely old map from 1570 ( I have no idea whether is supports any point of view or not as have not studied this issue). I like old maps. The 2024 calendar here in my room has a different old map per month this year.

Sorry @Stomacharmeleon I asked MN to withdraw my post as I wanted to post again and make it clear that yes - it is historical fact and this article here proves it:

Jesus was not Palestinian, we need to dispel that myth forever - opinion

The ahistorical myth that Jesus was a Palestinian is often rooted in nationalist propaganda designed to erase Jewish history and memory, a centuries-old system of anti-Jewish oppression.

Kindatired · 12/01/2024 13:45

Of course Jesus was a Jew!
And anyone familiar with scripture knows that there was no place called Palestine until recent times,@ stomachameleon. Sorry if offence caused. @Xenia that’s a lovely map.
Names change, but the grief of a mother for her child is the same, be it an Israeli mum or a Palestinian mum.

Regardless of Jesus’s status, it’s now 2024 and Israel can’t be allowed to kick the Palestinians out of Gaza - they had homes, businesses, neighbourhoods, universities etc there. The Ukrainians are protecting their homes in the same way against Russia.

hogmanayhoolie · 12/01/2024 16:43

Homes, businesses, neighbourhoods, universities

Or

Open air prison

BTW there is no comparison with Ukraine. Absolutely none

Finallyloggedin · 12/01/2024 16:52

@hogmanayhoolie I don’t follow your point, can you explain what you mean? Also why do you feel no comparison can be made with Ukraine?

Jesus was a Jew and I have no doubt if he were alive today he would be standing with many brave Jews around the world who are demonstrating against the genocide of the Palestinians.

What bit are you struggling with?. Happy to explain if you clarify where you're having difficulty

Re Ukraine. Ukrainians didn't carry out a terrorist attack on Russia, murder most brutally innocent people, kidnap and hold hostage innocent people and didn't dance around bodies of mutilated women.

Is the judgement in already on whether it is a genocide? I missed that.

Finallyloggedin · 12/01/2024 17:22

@hogmanayhoolie the judgement from anyone with an ounce of morality is in, yes.

Heinous crimes are being committed.

This was the bit - I don’t follow what you are trying to say.

Ah ok, I was musing rather than being specific

Gaza is presented by those who are anti Israeli as this run down, poverty stricken, embattled "open air prison", language which is used to portray a particular narrative

But my knowledge of Gaza aligns with the comment made by the pp about the universities, businesses etc (add in the lovely beachside resorts) which show a different picture.

Jesus would agree with me and anyone who doesn't has no morality. Brilliant, that kind of mindset only ever results in good things.

Boomboom22 · 12/01/2024 17:44

I'd expect the UN to find its ethnic cleansing not genocide as if they rule it genocide then their rules state they should get involved and they don't want to. Because the UN is western centric and so essentially on Israel's side.

Crimes are being committed by both the IDF and Hamas. An Israeli life isn’t worth more than a Palestinian and vice versa.

It's referred to as an open air prison because it's blockaded by land, air and sea, imprisoning the population, not because it's "run down" or "poverty stricken".

Whilst there are universities and businesses etc there I fear that there'll be nothing left by the time Israel has finishes destroying the place and those who live there.

stomachameleon · 12/01/2024 18:48

What a factual comment..Confused

He could just as easily (as he was somewhat of a rebel rouser) be demonstrating for the release of the hostages held or grieving the loss of his whole family murdered in kibbutz Be'eri. Unlikely to be living peacefully in Nazareth.

stomachameleon · 12/01/2024 18:49

@hogmanayhoolie it's odd how many people chose to go on holiday to an 'open air prison' or race their horses there?

Parkingt111 · 12/01/2024 19:08

Prior to the war, there were parts of Gaza that were very poor and parts that were more affluent. However there was and still is a blockade by land, air and sea. Which is why it is often referred to as a open air prison.
You can dispute calling it by those specific words but it does not negate the blockade and the severe restrictions placed on those living there

Parkingt111 · 12/01/2024 19:10

Unfortunately now there are whole neighbourhoods that have been destroyed. As said previously that analysts were shocked to see that Gaza is now not only a different colour from the sky but also looks a different texture. That is how severe the bombing campaign has been

Parkingt111 · 12/01/2024 19:14

This is Beit Hanoun before and after which is in the north. The after is from the 26th of October so it could be worse now. Image was taken from sky news
