It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

Israel and its allies are repurposing the goals and lies of 1948 – in Gaza in 2023

Israel is openly carrying out ethnic cleansing inside Gaza, driving Palestinians outside their homeland as happened in 1948. And yet, just as during the first “Nakba”, Israel's lies and deceptions dominate the West’s media and political narrative.

Sorry should have posted here instead

Failure of our shared humanity' in Gaza, says Norwegian Refugee Council

**The "pulverising" of the Gaza Strip now ranks "among the worst assaults on any civilian population in our time and age", the head of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has said.
"Each day we see more dead children and new depths of suffering for the innocent people enduring this hell," says Jan Egeland, NRC's secretary general.
He says that 1.9 million people - almost the entire Gaza population - have been displaced and that nearly two-thirds of homes have been destroyed.

Parkingt111 · 05/12/2023 17:12

I have been avoiding looking at the attacks on social media for the last two days but just reading about what is happening on MSM is bad enough

The attacks in the south have intensified and that is where most of the displaced are sheltering.
The death toll aswell as injuries are rising but more than that it has become clear nowhere in Gaza is safe

When questioned about this Israeli minister Mark Regev who normally always uses the word safe zones for the first time yesterday I head him say 'safer zones'
That's quite clear it's not safe, just maybe abit safer than some places depending on the day and time

The psychological toll of constantly moving around whilst homeless and in a intense war zone has meant some people have now stopped, and have accepted that they will most likely die anyway so they might aswell stay put

@Parkingt111 heartbreaking cruelty.

If you support the continued bombing of Gaza you agree with thishttps://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-67614139
support for this type of barbarity will not get rid of terrorism- it will make it more prevalent. There will almost certainly be a rise in anti semitism as a backlash-no civilised country will ever trust Israel again for sure.

It's horrific and I think just going to get worse. Israel is clearly increasing its efforts to make its current and future actions seem justified.

This is absolutely horrific. And with the withholding of aid, how poorly treated these poor children’s wounds are going to be, and how much pain so many of them must be in.

if the translation is right and Israel isn’t committing a genocide … then some idf have not understood why they have gone to Gaza

@Kindatired I have a disabled ds and the thought of that child going through the bombing, surgeries and recovery without a parent by his side could really push me over the edge. And there are so many in his situation. I selfishly don't want to allow myself to think about it. The dead are the lucky ones 😭💔😭💔😭. And I think we all know these very disabled children will most likely end up living their lives in tents in the Sinai desert, with very little chance to rehabilitate properly. Where is humanity?

I've been thinking a lot about the disabled Palestinians too. It's unimaginable what they're going through. And so many people have become disabled because of the bombing. Thousands of children included.

I was in OEJ in the summer and many Muslim homes/shops have the star of David graffiti'D on to them. I was in a shop which sold souvenirs and in my very broken Arabic started talking to the man who seemed to be the owner. He responded back in perfect English (😊) and said that his great grandfather had owned the building, and that 3 generations of them had been born in the apartment above the shop. He said they are under great pressure to sell to the Israelis, and those that refuse get evicted under often obscure court orders. He ended by saying that God willing he would be martyred in his shop before it was confiscated from him 😭

beigecartoon · 08/12/2023 18:53

@feralunderclass heartbreaking but he sounds steadfast. What does OEJ stand for?

Again selfishly, when there was talk of the babies in incubators having oxygen cut off and I saw a doctor manually ventilating a child with a tracheostomy I had to stop watching TV. I was waking up in the night having horrible nightmares and very intrusive thoughts about this happening to my ds, as this is a nightmare situation for any parent with an oxygen dependent child. I cannot imagine the multiple layers of trauma that these parents are experiencing, seeing their dc in horrendous pain. This will haunt them until their final breath. And the thought of a child going through it alone makes me want to die for them 😭

I was also talking abou the “let’s wipe Gaza off earth “ which is a genocide

Occupied East Jerusalem. It's the Muslim and Christian area, but the (religious) Jews are attempting to take it over. They want to destroy the aqsa mosque, saying that they have more right to Jerusalem than the Muslims and Christians.

I also find it hard to sleep thinking about children suffering under this bombardment and I’m a tough old bird- have been known to hear gunfire, figure out where the ricochets would likely hit, move the bed and go back to sleep! No reading about Gaza for me after 8pm though. There is a point where the sensible self has to say “This is happening, I didn’t directly cause it and feeling my sadness is an indulgence thing that makes me less useful”.
The issue here is the diplomatic clock- the need to put pressure on the US and to lesser extent UK governments.
For what it’s worth, a comment I posted in a thread this morning in the New York times has made it into readers’ picks , so it’s not that hard to have your voice heard.
The key was to respond to someone else’s good comment .
I would encourage people to contribute to letters, comments sections and contact politicians .Maybe some posters have experience of this area that would be helpful?

Oh my goodness you poor thing. I don't have that experience with my child but even I was having trouble sleeping and having intrusive thoughts about the babies left to die in al Nasser.

But we're normal people and these are normal reactions to this barbarity.

Perhaps this was his way of maintaining some semblance of control and dignity in a world where many of the people surrounding him don’t value his life. I can only guess. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/significance/202311/the-palestinian-quest-for-significance-and-hamas-violence

I looked up the company to fact check this and apparently the headline is "a house on the beach is not a dream! We have started clearing the rubble and fending off squatters".

How dare they.
