Please do all you can to object to the genocide of Palestinians

It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve seen videos on twitter that are beyond anything I can even begin to describe. Palestinians are being murdered in their thousands and the western media is largely pretending it’s not happening.

The average age of the people who have been killed in Gaza is FIVE years old.

The UK media are not showing how the Israeli government is openly talking about, and cheerleading genocide now. Israeli government speaks about Palestinians as if they are not humans. They are saying women are targets as they can have babies. I’ve just read how, since October 7th they have taken over 5,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and tortured them. They were already routinely arresting Palestinians and taking them away from their family with no reason and no but this is not being adequately reported.

Please, please visit sites such as 972 magazine and declassified uk. The BBC, etc, unfortunately aren’t reporting the extent to what is going on.

"some" nasty comments? Thousands upon thousands. And this was before innocent Palestinians had been killed. So yes, it was a particular low point seeing people celebrating the massacre in Israel and then laughing at the mourning families. Do you not think that's fucking despicable behaviour?!

Would you like to provide proof that Israel said all 1200 were civilians as well, or would you like us to just trust you when you say they said so?

@Humdingerydoo why do you object to the classification? People expert on the matter recognise it as such, there has been a communication blackout on Gaza for a week. Reporters are only allowed in now with IDF to cover what they are told to cover. If it’s that you don’t think it’s bad enough to be considered genocide yet, firstly I think we are not seeing / aware of a lot, and secondly the point is to prevent it becoming genocide. It is because the stated goal of several government officials (not fringe lunatics although them too) has been to annex Gaza, to ethnically cleanse the area of Palestinians. The US actually approached the neighbouring Arab states in October for them to take in the refugees from Gaza and rehome them. It was not accepted for many reasons including because Israel does not allow a right of return to Palestinians. But this highlights how far along that plan had gone.
IDF Soldiers are posting videos planting the Israeli flag all over Gaza celebrating their victory.

It is because the language used is deemed to convey genocidal intent- they are not people they are “human animals” (repeated by several officials”. A biblical verse ‘Amalek’ was invoked by Netanyahu which speaks about killing every man woman child and animal…

It is because the utter destruction of Gaza will leave it uninhabitable (genocide also pertains to destruction of culture and homeland)

It is because the inhuman siege which is blocking food and clean water is seeing a population of 1.7million displaced peoples who are starving, left vulnerable to spread of diseases which will also kill them. For reference the outbreak of epidemics in concentration camps killed a colossal number last century.

It is because experts on genocide are recognising the signs in Gaza and asking us to act. Journalists like NYT Chris Hedges who covered Yugoslavia, Israeli historian Ilan Pappe, Israeli journalist Amira Hass… these are a few names who I’ve read recently who have expressed their fears of genocide

I was replying to someone who was saying Hamas aren't a true representation of Palestinians, and I said I hope they get a chance to prove that after years of not being able to. Not sure there's anything wrong with what I said

This is genocide, loads of people on here claiming they care about innocent Palestinians lives but do not think this is a genocide when it very much is. Many countries around the world see this for what it is. An apartheid genocidal terrorist state. If you are unsure of what terrorist actually means, please see the dictionary definition. Which is what Israel has been and continues to do. This is not self defence and anyone claiming it still is self defence is inhumane.

Israel has already taken majority of land from Palestinians and refuse to call it Palestine. They are already making plans on how it will be governed in the future.

People do care about that. If they care less than they did, blame the Israeli government. They have well lost the high ground now. It's an absolute disgrace what they think is fair revenge and frankly they're using it as an excuse for a further land grab, whatever they say.

@Delphinium20 sorry no, religion isn’t what got Palestinians into a “hot mess”, the Nakba of 1948 and the subsequent brutal occupation is what did. If you don’t know what these things are then look them up. You have no excuse for ignorance of what the Israeli settlers, police, idf, etc, inflict upon Palestinians daily, all prior to October 7th. If you are based in Israel you may be so brainwashed that you think it’s ok to kill thousands upon thousands, destroy every hospital, school, university, playground, etc. Because you believe that Palestinians are not human and don’t have the same right to life as you. Take a look at yourself if this is the case.

i haven’t had a chance to read most of the messages on this thread but I just wanted to say that I am white, British, agnostic and I share your utter disgust at the comments on here and the disregard for human life. All my friends (of mixed races and religions) would agree, I know.

i dont object at all to a Muslim mumsnet area but I just wanted to let you know that we don’t all think like some of the sick posters on here.

Although having a Muslim Mumsnetters Board is a good idea, I agree with @Finallyloggedin that you don't have to be Muslim to see what's happening in Palestine.

The genocide is happening against all Palestinians regardless of their religion, whether Muslim, Christians, agnostic, etc.

Most of the world's population, including lots of Jewish people and many Israelis, is absolutely shocked and sickened by the atrocities committed brazenly and unashamedly by the genociders.

So please don't let those trying to justify the genocide silence you. We are all here together as human beings speaking out against inhuman acts.

Never heard of "white functioning" and can't find anything about it on Google. So during the Nazi era Jews weren't white, but now we all are? Despite my family being mostly Iraqi? My dad was frequently stopped by people after 9/11 for looking like an Arab. I guess I tell him that actually, he's white and therefore must've imagined it.

With her being American, I'm not sure it's so weird for me to never have heard it before.

Honestly, the term "white functioning" is a bit reminiscent of the "covert Jew" rhetoric Nazis liked to use. So I will not be using it.

Can't comment on your accusation of me conflating Judaism and Israel as I don't know when I supposedly did that, and obviously I'd hate for you to have to go through the emotional burden of having to prove your accusation, so I guess we'll leave it at that.

Saw an interview with this man last night, who has been arrested multiple times for violence against Palestinians (no punishment, obviously) and he's now a Member of Knesset.
Read the article to see how ordinary Israeli settlers land grab. In the interview he said "Jews will live anywhere... America, UK, Judea and Samaria (illegal settlements)... if they say otherwise they are a Nazi".

Because it’s clear to many that Netanyahu and his appalling government want to wipe Gaza and its people off the face of the earth and commandeer the land, alongside the illegal land grabs on the West Bank. Genocide seems a fairly good description.
The repugnant acts of 7th October gave him the perfect reason to do so.

But hamas' want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth to and Palestinians voted them in, same with netanyahu wanting to get rid of Gaza. If the tables were turned hamas' would be doing the exact same to the Israelis it's just the Israelis have more fire power.

I imagine the people of Gaza are now feeling the same terror Israeli families felt when they were being attacked in their homes, and it could have been avoided if they hadn't voted a terrorist organisation into power.
