From Israel's POV they warned civilians to get out, the part of the camp they hit was being used as a military base. Hamas attack Israel, Israel go to war to eliminate hamas so they don't attack again. They hit targets. Hamas cover them with civilians. Hamas refuse to surrender and wont give back hostages.

It is so sad and awful but Israel is not breaking any laws here. You may not like or agree with the laws but Israel is not breaking any.

I actually really do blame Hamas for all of this. The rest of the blame lies in any policies that allowed hamas to become so embedded in Gaza that to root them out now means killing thousands of civilians.

@FOJN , sorry, realised I missed the point.
I just get so peeved coming on MN, and seeing people who used to chat about what's for dinner or jumper colours inciting genocide, that it riles me somewhat.

Netanyahu’s plea bargaining (to keep his corrupt arse out of prison) is making Genghis Khan look terribly reasonable.

Bigminnie1 · 31/10/2023 19:28

@Icefoot she said ALL Israelis hate anyone who isn't Jewish. That's why we are getting angry. I wouldn't say ALL Palestinians are bad because it's not true and it incites hatred and violence. So please give the same courtesy.

crumblingschools · 31/10/2023 19:29

@eardefender where are they meant to go? They are in a refugee camp

The people were living in a camp in a place where aid isn't being allowed as it was. Where were they supposed to go and how?

lockedinflavour · 31/10/2023 19:29

@PurpleChrayne do you think that the horrific murders by Hamas terrorists on 7/10 justifies the horrific murder by the IDF of Gaza's babies and children? Are these babies Hamas too?

Lonelycrab · 31/10/2023 19:30

From Israel's POV

No one is concerned with Israel’s pov right now. We can see enough for ourselves.

But killing all Palentinians is OK?

She was expressing an opinion, a feeling, felt by the people living it.

queenofarles · 31/10/2023 19:31

if IDF claim they know about the underground network , then why don’t they dig underground tunnels and get to Hamas?

FOJN · 31/10/2023 19:31

Itisyourturntowashthebath No problem, sarcasm doesn't always translate well in the written word.

kindly explain how the collective punishment of 2.3 million people isn’t breaking international humanitarian law.

specifically:

withholding water
withholding food
withholding fuel
cutting of internet / telecommunication

Lentilweaver · 31/10/2023 19:33

Because they can. And the US/UK are supporting them.

Everything that’s going on and that’s what annoys you? Perhaps we should all stop trying to comprehend politics and get back to cooking dinner Hmm

Lonelycrab · 31/10/2023 19:37

So when Israel finally “gets” hamas, while committing a bit of ethnic cleansing stroke genocide on the way
to do that….

Does the problem then go away?

Whats the plan, Israeli govt supporters?

What were the people in the refugee camp supposed to do? People were told to evacuate northern Gaza but they were bombed on the supposedly safe route to the south, and have then been bombed repeatedly in Khan Younis. Conditions in the south are so bad that some people are now moving back to Gaza City. How are countless thousands of people expected to evacuate the area when they have no food, water, or fuel? And where can they go to that will be safe?

Parkingt111 · 31/10/2023 19:38

@eardefender

Where the hell are they supposed to go
I'm sure you are aware of how big gaza is compared to the population
Aswell as almost 40% of residential buildings have been destroyed
This isn't the only refugee camp that has been struck by Israel

Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?

@Desertrose2023

"Good and I’ll keep repeating it because it’s true.

sorry if it’s an inconvenient truth for you."

++++

This is the problem with these threads, they start off with an innocent sounding question "why are Israeli (sic) bombing refugee camps", not in order to provide either information or explanation but simply to whip up the rhetoric on both sides. Add in a dash of whataboutery and conspiracy theories and what you get is further entrenched convictions on both sides that are not interested in either facts or a solution to this crisis.

It's all rather pointless.

FrippEnos · 31/10/2023 19:40

Tinkerbyebye

Because Hamas are hiding within and under, using women and children as a buffer and they don’t care if they are killed

We know that carpet bombing tunnel systems does not work. The USA tried it in Vietnam.
And even if Hamas are hiding under the refugee camp it doesn't absolve Israel of what they are doing.

crumblingschools · 31/10/2023 19:29

They were supposed to evacuate to the south, however i have heard that Hamas is simply not letting people leave and making them stay put at military targets embedded in Civilian centres to use them as shields.

It was tried in Vietnam and didn't work then.

But they are bombing the South too.

People have been killed going South, that poor journalist's entire family, for example.

Yes and guess what happened to those who moved to the south?
They got bombed there too
What sort of moral democracy tries to justify bombing a refugee camp to achieve its aims of eradicating Hamas
Will the deaths of hundreds of civilians be justified because they got one guy
