Of the 50 journalists on the ground in Gaza (residents) 35 have been killed.

If you haven’t already I highly recommend following them on instagram.

Horrendous.

flowofstate · 30/10/2023 19:52

being purposely targeted by IDF. 😰

TakeMe2Insanity · 30/10/2023 20:19

They are just about getting these stats out. Nearly all of them have lost so much weight. Their eyes look anguished.

Really, really sad.

Gaza's "Ministry of Information." What do you think that is?

Hamas.

It's Hamas.

Are they renowned for their honesty?

SocksOfMagic · 30/10/2023 20:33

Israeli ‘precision’ attacks… attempting to silence the press who are desperately keeping the eyes of the world on Israeli atrocities. I am in awe of the press in Palestine, so very very brave

Are you saying the journalists haven't died?

Are your eyes unable to see the mass killing that is happening on a daily level? Journalists having their families targeted despite them heeding advice and going to allegedly safe zones. Or are you saying these journalists got up and walked out of Gaza?

It's shocking, unfortunately Israel has a long history of trying to silence the press. The bravery of the men and women risking their lives to let the world know of Israels crimes is astounding. They really are showing us just how important the free press is.

mermaidmaria · 30/10/2023 20:46

Shocking. War criminals !

I wonder if constantly minimising Palestinian deaths makes you feel more at peace at being a court side cheerer for genocide.

Honestly, I feel sad for you and for a world where murder is encouraged and empathy and desire for peace is frowned upon.

Whether you are pro israeil, pro palestinian, anti hamas, neutral, don't care or whatever, surely just allowing for a bit of space for someone to feel sad about deaths can be done? Do you HAVE to constantly shoot down people's sadness at death? What does it do for you? Does it make you feel better? What would staying silent do?

Im genuinely curious at the psychology behind stamping on someone's grief

Are you suggesting the IDF is entirely truthful?

Stomacharmeleon · 30/10/2023 21:15

I don't believe in war either side is entirely truthful.

SoIRejoined · 30/10/2023 21:21

Purple is right though? The information clearly is from Hamas. There are also reports of Hamas preventing people from leaving Gaza.

Hard to know what's true in a war. I don't doubt that journalists have been killed, and it's especially terrible if they are bring targeted - which seemed to be the case with the Al Jazeera journalist who reportedly lost his family. But don't do Hamas job for them by spreading their propaganda uncritically.

Did you see the link I sent
It has the verified deaths of the journalists including the names, date of death and where they passed away
It's not just some fake propaganda
It's been third party verified by the CPJ

TakeMe2Insanity · 30/10/2023 21:29

Is this the agenda now? Shout down all concern for death or Palestinians as Hamas, tar everyone who mentions them as being Hamas operatives?

I genuinely am taken back by the hate on these threads. We are not allowed any concern for Palestinians, apparently everything from the past few decades, from every news org or international org that says anything remotely about the difficulties of Palestinians is false.

Iloveshoes123 · 30/10/2023 21:41

I don't think it is hate, people are simply stating that they don't believe Hamas. The screenshot says it it as per information from Hamas. I have no idea who the other source quoted is but I have never heard of them.
I don't think people are staying that it is definitely it true but I certainly wouldn't rely on Hamas for information.
I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for information provided by a terrorist organisation to be verified.

EasterIssland · 30/10/2023 21:44

if only Israel let in independent journalists that could tell us the truth without needing to rely on Hamas ….

It's the CPJ
and this is who they are

The Committee to Protect Journalists is an American independent non-profit, non-governmental organization, based in New York City, with correspondents around the world. CPJ promotes press freedom and defends the rights of journalists.

Stomacharmeleon · 30/10/2023 21:57

@Chaitales I think you have never been the target of 'hate' if you think that's what just consists of.

I understand that, but it's not just hamas numbers - it's everywhere. We have live photos and videos from civilians on the ground - photographers, young girls, surgeons, children, heads blown off, arms amputated, blood and stone everywhere, dark clouds and fire billowing from buildings, cars and buildings razed, yet anytime anyone says anything about feeling sad, it's always rebuted with - I don't believe it/it's made up.

Even if there are links from any, any news channel (BBC, guardian, NY, anything) about any sort of atrocities or oppression in Palestine for the last decades, the news source is immediately discredited. It's constant and dehumanising. Every organisation (un, hrw, stc, amnesty), is antisemitic and can't be trusted in the least.

Just have some heart, or say nothing at all. We should be allowed to feel sadness at death and destruction.

My best friends house was set on fire and her sister died, because a white bloke didn't want Asians on his street.

I have had an alcohol bottle swung by my face on the tube because I was speaking to my mum in a different language.

Have I scored enough hate-brownie points for my opinion to count?

Parkingt111 · 30/10/2023 22:07

Sky news have just put out a piece on the journalist who were hit by a strike in southern Lebanon From Israel
An independant watch dog has said that after looking at everything it is clear that this group of journalists were explicitly targeted
Murdering one journalist and injuring others
