Of the 50 journalists on the ground in Gaza (residents) 35 have been killed.

If you haven’t already I highly recommend following them on instagram.

On Guardian Live Feed, an Israeli government spokesperson used footage from a Lebanese film, trying to pass it off as Palestinians faking injuries in Gaza. He described it as 'pallywood.' It's been debunked by BBC Verify. I thought this was relevant to thread since there's been discussion of propaganda and fake news. It'

Israel has attached the yard of Al Shifa Hospital again where wizard_bisan1 is staying. There hasn't been anything from her since then. 😢 I hope she's ok.

The first thing I do every morning is check if she (and Motaz_azaiza) have posted.
I really hope she is ok.
I am heartbroken for the Palestinian people.

I genuinely am taken back by the hate on these threads. We are not allowed any concern for Palestinians, apparently everything from the past few decades, from every news org or international org that says anything remotely about the difficulties of Palestinians is false.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. People like purple chrayn only get support and applause for her pro idf and pro right wing Israeli government views on this forum. She knows she can’t say the same things to real people in real life as they would be horrified and disgusted with her easiness at the genocide of Muslim civilians. She’s be called out as having some serious hate issues for a certain group of people.

This isn’t correct. The pp you attack gets support on mn for reasons you haven’t mentioned.

Honest Reporting, whose stated mission is to expose anti-Israeli media bias, now accusing photojournalists of being complicit in the attack in Oct 7th.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/11/9/news-organisations-reject-allegations-of-complicity-in-october-7-attack

From the article:

Former Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon went further and called on the four photojournalists to be added to the list “of participants to the October 7 massacre” to be “eliminated” by Israel’s security services.

Apparently the Israeli security forces are prepared to kill photojournalists based on nothing more than a report from a pro-Israeli media watchdog. At least they're honest about having no regard for due process.

EasterIssland · 10/11/2023 09:54

@FOJN yoir link doesn’t work

but yeah it’s all similar to the Twitter link I posted yesterday and that the author proofs why some of the people being accused were not even in Israel at the time of the attack

Toothyfruity · 10/11/2023 15:05

Bisan has posted that she's alive. I was so worried after seeing the shocking scenes at the hospital. She looks exhausted and traumatised, unsurprisingly and will be updating later.

Thank goodness, although I can't even image the horrors she must have seen last night.

Hopefully the link works this time.

News organisations reject allegations of complicity in October 7 attacks

Two outlets cut ties with a Gaza-based photojournalist after pro-Israel site accuses them of prior knowledge.

A journalist was in the list to leave Gaza today with her family. She decided to stay to continue reporting what’s going on

There are no journalists in Gaza; there are only willing Hamas propagandists and unwilling Hamas propagandists. Hamas intimidates, imprisons and kills journalists, so the only ones allowed to remain free and unharassed are the ones they consider useful to them. These people either work for Hamas or they are reduced to merely regurgitating Hamas propaganda. It would be fascinating to know what these 'journalists' are too scared to report.

We really have to question the journalistic integrity of organisations, such as the BBC, having local reporters inside these places if it cannot be absolutely guaranteed that danger isn't compromising truthfulness.

Wow you know so much about Hamas.

If you want to discredit them, go ahead but ask yourself (or perhaps sane rational people should ask themselves) why Israel prevented international journalists from operating in Gaza? Because they didn’t want the world to see what they were doing and now journalists on ground who are Gazan are doing it. I don’t think anyone cares if they weren’t a journalist before 7/10 the point is they are there and they are documenting the truth. Their videos, their photos, just their faces stand witness and give testimony to the truth that’s happening. That’s what bothers you, is that world sees what Israel would like hidden.

Are you even going to deny the head of Al Jazeera’s bureau in Gaza is journalist ( the one who had his family targeted)? Buy yes of course you are.

I know this thread is about journalists so apologies for the next comment
just read Israel is blaming the urnwa workers to work for Hamas / belong to Hamas. That would explain why so many of their buildings are being targeted / 100 killed

makes me sick that innocent people are being targeted for the work they do to support others

Jeremy Bowen was allowed with Israeli soldiers the other day so he could look at some exposed tunnels. They do allow certain journalists to go and they aren't a fan of the bbc?

I do agree to a certain extent with @EsmaCannonball that Hamas are unlikely to let journalists just report what they want. At the moment it's a one way street as let's be honest if they are living there they are somewhat preoccupied with being alive I imagine. It must be awful.

Hamas have no control over what is being reported. Israel controls who goes in and out of Gaza. The hospital staff have repeatedly asked for any journalists/media/politicians or anyone to check the hospitals to show there are no tunnels or Hamas hiding there. They are just trying to survive the intense bombing

Stomacharmeleon · 11/11/2023 20:33

@Rubbishagain I don't believe by virtue of the position they are in Not their integrity that they can be independent.

They know there are tunnels. The released hostages said they were kept in spider web like tunnels . I assume we will soon know where they are?

Why is Instagram blocking the sound on some videos from Gaza? Bisan's videos have no sound since yesterday.

Unfortunately Instagram is doing a lot against Palestinians. They’ve been blocking videos, shadow banning people and more.
