Hi all,

Brand new thread!

I started it so I must get a BFP before the end - them's the rules.

OP posts:
northerngoldilocks · 13/07/2010 11:15

Thanks everyone for your messages of support / congrats. I'm still waivering between extreme excitement and abject terror at things going wrong, but really its too early to know anything so just need to try to be calm for about 4 weeks (yikes!)

Hairy loving the postive attitude and Pretty- your posts always make me laugh as they're totally insane (in a good way of course)

Fingers crossed for everyone else on the 2WW. Have decided its far too early to go onto the grads thread (RTD only due tomorrow) so will hang around here for a while. Wedding planning, house moving and of course hopefully lots of BFPs is way too interesting to leave!

VivClicquot · 13/07/2010 11:17

Morning all x

Firstly, congrats to northern - what lovely news. Here's to an uneventful remaining eight months for you.

And welcome stuffedmk - hope you're settling into our lovely home.

Lucky8 - still keeping an eye on you honey x

Looks like there's a lot of us in the SWI-phase. If the last two cycles are anything to go by, my 'important' days will be tomorrow and Thursday which is a royal pain in the jacksy as I'm working away tomorrow night. Trying to get as much in (quite literally!)as we can before then, but who knows...

In other news, I would like a mini rant as I've just been told that my boss in London isn't supportive of my case for promotion. Twat. (I'm basically part of two teams - a local one and a national one. My local boss has put me forward for promotion, but the case needs to be supported by the national guy and he's reticent, simply on the basis that I don't work in London. It's so dreadfully unfair as my output etc is far better than some of those who do work in London who have already been promoted, but he has these xenophobic anti-regional attitudes. Arse.)

Anyway, better get back to it. For all the good it will do me.

xxx

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 13/07/2010 11:39

northern - a big YAY and congratulations!

viv sorry about your boss. I hate the whole regional thing.

I went wedding dress shopping yesterday and absolutely fell in love with this dress. I HAVE to have it.

Oooh nice dress, missus. Do you think you'll be able to get it seeing as your wedding is round the corner?

(I only ask because I bought mine last January, and only got married in November!)

As for the work thing, I think the thing that rankles is that my attitude throughout 2010 has been to make sure I do the things that I wouldn't ordinarily have been able to do, had either of my pregnancies worked out. Whether that be buggering off on loads of holidays or getting promoted, I want to seize every opportunity I can this year. I worry that if fate does deal us a better hand and we do end up pg soon, then I'll be off on mat leave when the next round of promotions is decided - and by then, my opportunity will have gone.

I'm trying to channel cheepz a bit and not think about the 'what ifs' where jobs and pregnancies are concerned, but I'm still annoyed.

Hopefully · 13/07/2010 13:07

Ivy I went dress shopping yesterday (slightly more longterm thinking - we're planning next July) and really liked the shape of Louisa on that site. Strangely it doesn't look that pretty on the website, but was much lovelier in person. I'm actually contemplating making my dress though, as at £1,500 there's not a hope in hell of me buying that one! Also it was a bit crystal infested, and I'm not completely convinced about the need for crystals in my life. My biggest problem is that I don't want to wear white/ivory/champagne

On 2WW at the moment, am going to be seriously if BFN this month, as if it is we really need to sit down and decide at what point we use contraceptive so as not to have a teeny weeny newborn at our wedding, and also give in to the possibility that I may in fact be wearing a maternity wedding dress. really don't want to get married pregnant, but also really don't want to postpone wedding even further and really don't want to postpone TTC. Grrr.

Freezingmyarseoff · 13/07/2010 13:41

Northern congrats - sooper dooper news

Ivy that dress is gorgeous go for it

Welcome to stuffedmk it's not a bad place to be considering the circumstances

Cheepz what a rollercoaster for you. Whatever happens will be for the best - it always is on the house front.

Viv rant away - two bosses is a right hassle for this kind of thing.

Just heard from a good friend who's 6 weeks pregnant. She's also had a MC so totally feel for her but couldn't help but feel very envious and sad.

No EWCM here yet (got to be the first time ever) but decided to get busy on the SWI anyway, only managed to get myself cystitis

waves to everyone else, sorry not to namecheck. I'm trying to wean myself off MN so only checking in every few days.

VivClicquot · 13/07/2010 13:49

Ha hopefully - When i started looking for wedding dresses, my perfect dress was Kate Sherford's Juliet. Think Simple. Classic. Elegant.

I travelled miles to a bridal shop that had one in stock. Tried it on...

...and then ended up with a mahoosive Ian Stuart meringue that was just so over the top, but bloody gorgeous...

MrsGMack · 13/07/2010 13:57

To test or not to test, that is the question?

AF is due to put in an appearance today or tomorrow, t the latest. No symptoms, other than mild cramping over the past 4 days. Normally I don't have any physical symptoms

If nothing happens today, I may test tomorrow. If it's positive. I won't be able to have my holiday jabs...

Sorry for the me post but I've been patiently sitting on my hands to avoid early testing

Julia1969 · 13/07/2010 15:12

Ooh another BFP - congrats - wahoo!

Pretty - I'm really glad that you haven't been checking up on other people's stats and comparing them to your own because I haven't been doing that either. In fact I absolutely haven't been sofa-bound due to reading a bunch of connected old threads from 2007/2008 about symptom spotting and then following the histories to see what happened to those laydeez and then reading way too much into the similarities and/or differences to my own circumstance. There is just no way I would do that because that would be weird and obsessive. Nope, no way I'd do that.

Quick, change the subject ..... now, which particular HPT do we think is most reliable?

Am on 2WW and tested this morning (CD23) my UCL is 26-28 days and got a BFN (I know that it was stupid and bad) so am now hoping that it was just too early and that the test (FR) was a) wrong, b) not the best test.

Quick, change the subject againg to avoid the haddock .. ..

Lovely dress Ivy

batteryhen · 13/07/2010 16:59

Quick post from work - northern - lovely news - as always I shall do my little sticky bean dance with pom poms

Ivy fab dress

Julia I wanted to test today and am only CD17 - am quite clearly unstable I got my last HPT from superdrug and they seemed to be really sensitive.

MrsG I admire your strength at not testing - I have (no joke ) 11 HPT's in the cupboard and will be using every one of them! magic also admiring your resolve too - but hope both of you get a lovley BFP when you do xx

I have nothing to reoprt, I am in the 2ww and am bored of all this waiting around.

Sorry not to name check everyone - Hello to all especially new pepes
xx

hairytriangle · 13/07/2010 17:17

viv bummer so unfair!

Hang on in there MrsG

freezing bummer about the cystistis!

As I have strongly suspected, I am having a right side ovulation, so there will be no swi'ing for me this month.

Came out two days ago with a great big zit on my right eyebrow (lovely!), mild 'bruise' feeling in stomach (veering towards right) and yesterday with a nother zit on my right cheek - no EWCM as yet, but now have a very clear bruisey feeling on right hand side just about where my ovary probably is and a positive POAS for ovulation!

Just glad my body is getting back in to sync.

Makes sense for it to be right because I ovulated in March on the right (I know this as they found a corpus luteum during my WTF/ectopic/pregnancy of unknown location) and last month I am sure was a left side ovulation.

I'm glad I have such clear signs, it really helps me to know when to try and when not to, with my right hand blocked tube.

delilahbelle · 13/07/2010 17:27

Hey all... this thread moves so fast

Ivy love the wedding dress. I am now going to have to look at all my wedding photos again.

freezing cystitis suck, hope you get better and back in the SWI saddle soon.

Julia and battery step away from the pee sticks! I solomnly swear not to POAS until at LEAST 10dpo... can anyone top that?

Hairy glad your body is getting back together. Mine is totally confusing me - thought I OV'd Saturday, but pains and EWCM still appearing by the bucketload (TMI - sorry ) so there will be yet more SWI tonight. Think I may have to crack out the slutty underwear to persuade DH.

MrsG good luck for testing tomorrow, will keep fingers crossed you get the result you want.

Hi to everyone else

hairytriangle · 13/07/2010 18:01

Delilahbelle perhaps you are having a double ovulation BONUS!!!!! I know one month I ovulated twice (at least I'm pretty sure) .

I have prepared my other half for next month - told him the minute I get spotty we have to go for it - and asked if I should book some time off work - also told him if I suddenly start feeding him up and being all lovey dovey (whilst covered in zits) he knows why!!! LOL

Julia1969 · 13/07/2010 19:36

Just back from shopping and I confess that I pawed the HPTs but didn't buy ....

Hairy so brill that you're back in the race. I am in total awe of your body awareness. I wish my sad middle age acne told me about which ovary was on Thunderbirds are Go rather than just looking like a chin constellation. Do you really only get spots on the side of your face that correlates with ovulation?

That's like reet amazin' that is!

Freezing I know that everyone has probably told you to drink loads of cranberry juice but have you tried the cranberry tablets? Thye're brill - as effective as juice (if not more so IMO) and you take one every hour/couple of hours to shift it. Dr recommended them after my last UTI. Also means that you don't end up with the ridiculous conflict of wanting to drink the cranberry to get rid of cystitis and not wanting to drink beccause peeing hurts!

Seriously, if I've trogged upstairs lifted my t-shirt, unhooked my bra and checked the status of my nipples once today, I must have done it half a dozen times.

Get. A. Grip. Julia.

hairytriangle · 13/07/2010 20:19

Julia I've spent over twenty years taking absolutely no notice of mucus, spots etc - as I've been avoiding pregnancy - only in the last few months have I been looking out for signs - I guess I'm very lucky to have such obvious signs!

About the spots on side of face, if I get ovulation pangs in the right side, I get zits on the right side and vice verca for left. Of course, I could be kidding myself but it seems a bit of a coincidence otherwise.

Would be interesting to have a scan around ovulation to see if I'm right but it would cost ££££££!!!!!!

Hi ladies sorry for going all quiet........sticking to me guns and not testing yet. Might be mad but it's a seriously rocky road ahead if I am, having had an early mmc and a second trimester so the longer I can be in denial the better Thanks for thinking of me though xxx

Fingers crossed for MrsGMack and hope you are feeling calmer now northern !

Viv work sucks don't it?! I don't blame you for being My view in situations like that is something better will come along x They can't not consider you for promotion just because your are on maternity leave - although they like to think they can..........

Love the dress Ivy

Hairy glad things are getting back to normal, you have been through the mill so I really hope are everything settles for you soon xx

Fingers crossed Hopefully and battery (I have no tests in the house which is helping and been too busy with work to go shopping!) I am done with the haddock if you would like me to chuck it your way Julia

Get well soon Freezing !

Hi to Loopy Delilah Stuffed and pretty in her suspenders stalking the list !! and anyone else I have missed........

delilahbelle · 13/07/2010 22:04

Loopy Def sure it's too early for the symptom spotting to start... give it a week

hairytriangle · 13/07/2010 23:00

Waves madly at magic8. Thanks

Hopefully · 14/07/2010 07:01

I have some internet cheapies in the house, but since I'm only on CD18 I seriously need some haddock slapping if I start discussing testing.

Am going to London on Saturday to look at dress fabrics - have had about 10 books out the library on corset making, dress making and embroidery, and am getting quite into the idea of making my dress! Will only be doing it if I'm not pregnant though, as the idea of making a big fat pillowcase maternity dress is somewhat less appealing. DP has taken to calling me Bridezilla after I randomly asked him at about 11:15pm last night (feasibly he was already asleep) whether he wanted a linen waistcoat to go with his linen suit, or a silk one to match my dress. Have lost it . It's definitely giving me something to think about apart from TTC though! This month is going way quicker than the last one.

Right, ideas to entertain DS today... ?

MrsGMack · 14/07/2010 09:21

Hi all

Thanks for the lovely messages of support , but it was a BFN: an hour after I tested and got -ve AF arrived. Mother nature can be cruel.

Despite the disappointment, I think DH was more downhearted than me, I am positive as my cycle is absolutely back to normal.

Next fertile period will have us hopefully mega-relaxed sunning ourselves on holiday. Not sure how a long-haul flight will affect my cycle though

A little quote for you all, not my usual style but it sums up DH's mood perfectly:

Pessimists have the greatest capacity for appreciation: they never expect things to go right so are justly awed by, sunsets, olives and baths.

Ha, I was just thinking the same thing about putting that as my Facebook status! What a lovely quote.

Morning all x

randomimposter · 14/07/2010 11:26

Hi all
have just updated my FB status with the thread quote.

Quiet here as still in limbo land really. 7+2 today, but am not going onto the grads thread, and don't really belong here either (not that anyone has/would make me/anyone else feel like that).

Tired, occasionally nauseous, very vivid dreams. But knicker checking much more than considered normal (what would be normal I wonder...).

Anyway hope everyone's doing ok. Sorry to hear about house sale cheepzy, hope it revives in order for you to still buy the family home. We should exchange in the next week or so apparently, but am sort of expecting a last minute hitch from our buyers. She seems ok, he seems like a top tosser....

Anyway ITNG about to finish, my respite from toddlerville nearly over. xx
