I guess car seat ought to go on the list if it isn't already - got to have something to bring baby home in from hospital

iggypiggy · 16/06/2010 13:17

Ah thanks barbie will look at that one then!

Yes - do have carseat - but you v. right jools is essential

Also I have: Changing mat, baby clothes, nappies and a sling... but really not much else...

MummyLovesSadie · 16/06/2010 13:21

Iggy you definitely need a monitor. I have the BT one which also displays the room temp. Bottles & pumps are always a good idea for when you want to start expressing. Have you thought about buying a couple of swaddling blankets? Most young babies love being swaddled as they like the secure feeling it gives them. Also I'd recommend buying baby-gro's with the end of the sleeves that fold over into scratch mitts as normal scratch mitts NEVER stay on. You can buy them from Mothercare.

Barbie you must have literally crapped yourself when the angel monitor went off. Try not to dwell on it too much though as I think it is actually quite normal for babies to stop breathing for a bit & then start again on their own when they sleep. Lol at your dd saying 'yes'! Believe me as they get older they get funnier & funnier! Regarding your pillow story, dh & I used to grab each others arms/legs in our sleep in the night, thinking that dd was in bed with us & slipping onto the floor!

Shaggy you can't really rely on your chart when you've been ill. There is still every chance for you this month. Didn't you have a bit of a bd marathon before you were ill? when you are pregnant your natural defenses are very low which means you get ill very easily.

Jools God what a difference a bit of nookie at the right time makes hey?! If there are any men lurking & reading this.... if you want a happy wife (which obviously makes for a happy life!) then just give her what she wants for those few important days each month. It's that easy!

Louey glad you are feeling happier today. Did you say you thought you'd ov on Thursday this week? Sperm can live up to 5 days inside so I have my fingers crossed for you.

Well my news of the day is that my notes are currently winging their way back to me via registered post! Good old dh got on the phone to Kings College & put a rocket up their nether regions!

A quick story from yesterday - I picked dd up from pre-school & she was telling me that she'd told her teacher that when it's her birthday the baby will come out of Mummy's tummy. I asked her if she knew when her birthday was & she looked at me with a blank expression. I said "Your birthday is in October", she then looked at me with a shocked face & said "I'm going to get knocked over??"!

barbie1 · 16/06/2010 13:29

ha ha ha ha i love your dd!

VJay · 16/06/2010 14:43

Hee hee mls your dd is ace

iggy of those 4 things on your list I had just the bottles and pump. I did have a monitor with ds1, but have not needed one with Ajay yet, he's still in with us and we live in a bungalow and I can hear him from every room. The babygros mls suggested with the fold over bits on the end are brilliant, I had a few of those. Happy shopping

jools I'm so glad you are back, you have been missed, and yay to the 2ww

OP posts:
Joolsiam · 16/06/2010 15:05

Tis nice to be missed Thankyou everyone for bearing with my moods and depression, plus innate inability to respond to everyone cos I never have time to scroll back and do it properly.

I have a scarily busy few days coming up though - lots and lots of travelling round the country, so hopefully lots of 2WW distraction ! So, I may disappear again for a while but hopefully not for too long

littlebellsmum · 16/06/2010 17:38

hi iggy - yes to monitor, bottles . no to thermometer, alarm and i'd wait and see about the pump - if you don't get on with bfeeding, it would be a waste of money. i would get some bottles and some sterilizing tablets - in case bfeeding doesn't work and you need to go down this route. we use sheets for swaddling.
Sudocream - but you will get this in your bounty bags
A good sling is a life saver - i love my close one as does BabyJ

But then, if you ask 3 people, you'll get three different answers to what is and isn't essential

Good to hear that the small panters are up to no good - here to some bfps!

Got to go - just managed a bath for baby J in the tummy tub and she liked it - well, she didn't scream the house down!! But is now starving - again.....

MummyLovesSadie · 16/06/2010 18:07

Have all those on the Emmsy's email list checked their emails?

MummyLovesSadie · 16/06/2010 19:05

Have forwarded Mermaid's email to those I think might have been missed off.

monkeybumsmum · 16/06/2010 19:35

Thanks MLS

bakingqueen · 16/06/2010 20:28

Hi all hope your all ok sorry not been posting have still got 1 more exam to do so stress city here and just to add to the mix af arrived today and dh went away for a week so sat revising with a bottle of rose by my side does not sound the best mix but has always worked for me in the past.
Got Mermaids email made me feel so sad for her if your lurking just to let you know am thinking of you.
jools glad to see you popping back up here now and then its lovely to hear you are on a 2ww feels exciting thinks it about time we had a bfp its been ages. Don't think you will be getting one for me as I said earlier had bad news from gynae. Well you all know I was put on clomid and there was some suggestion that I may have pcos but bloods never confirmed it. Basically I had all these treatments and investigations because the reason they thouigh we were not getting pregnant again after mc was because lets be honest I am a bit of a chunkster and maybe that was causing the problems. Anyway gynae consultant said right let just get a semen sample from dh just to check there are no problems there. Well turns out that he has low quality and low numbers of swimmers gynaes opinion being now that it will be next to impossible to concieve naturally and IVF might be the only chance. Kind of glad had exams to take my mind of this dh in a kind of a well thats it let s just adopt frame of mind. Me I want to keep trying I mean I got pregnant once right? Dh has to do another sample in a few months and if no improvement we will be referrede to a specialist centre if dh consents. Sorry to off load on here tonight maybe its the af maybe its the rose but just really needed to off load to you all tonight I am so sorry this is all me me me but needed to talk to someone can't talk to friends as dh so upset about topic he would freak if he knew i had told them but your all different sorry again for off loading

bakingqueen · 16/06/2010 20:28

sorry also for lack of punctuation

Neeko · 16/06/2010 20:35

Hi BQ Off-load on here as much as you need to. That must be really hard for you, especially as it sounds as though your DH is struggling with the news. As you say, you've managed to get pregnant before and we've all heard stories about women who'd been told it'd never happen and than suddenly they are.
Is IVF an option you'd consider?

Neeko · 16/06/2010 20:38

Mermaid I know I texted you already but you've been on my mind ever since. Thinking of you and sending huge hugs. You know where we are if you need us. xxx

MummyLovesSadie · 16/06/2010 20:53

BQ I'm glad you have opened up. Maybe this or this might help?

I think you are right, you have managed to get pregnant before so there is no reason why it shouldn't happen again.

Neeko · 16/06/2010 21:19

Evening MLS Accupuncture really changed your life eh?

Meant to say earlier Jools really lovely to have you back and I'm very excited for you to be on a proper 2ww. Let the symptom spotting commence and here's hoping you're burying a BFP in one of the plantpots before the month is out.

LBM the smell of pampers? What do you mean? I've sniffed them and - nothing.

Justshaggy sorry you've been so poorly but it aint over til the evil witch flies in. Fingers crossed.

Louey I agree with MLS - you're already in with a chance. Also don't know a woman who isnt impatient when TTC. Oh and you're right, H most definitely has me wrapped around her finger, but so does her sister! {blush]

Barbie Hope your heartrate is back to normal after your scare. Loved the pillow story.

Iggy it's getting close! I'd recommend a monitor and couple of bottles. (I could give you some as I have every kind and she won't take any of them! )I second the BT digital monitor. We used it every evening with DD1 until H was born and it;s still going strong now. I love my breast pump and it's best to start early IME but you could wait and see how the 1st two weeks go if you're worried you won't use it.

Vjay Glad the dog is ok. Did you get my cheeky email yesterday?

Hope everyone else is ok.

Gracie is in Cornwall for a few days.

bluesatinsash · 16/06/2010 21:44

loueytbg · 16/06/2010 21:55

Hi all,

Just a quick post from me I'm afraid as I'm supposed to be filling in a wretched DLA form for Isaac...deadline looming.

MLS thanks for the email . Have sent one back to mermaid

BQ I'm so sorry to hear about DH's sperm count. Don't apologise for off-loading. Will post more sensibly when I get a chance, but let the news sink in for DH and in the meantime, keep trying. My sister is going through a similar thing with her DH.

Jools have pom-poms out for you

No +OPK yet, DH back tomorrow and will be jumped on tomorrow night . Just hope I get a +OPK this cycle - not sure I have since mc.

iggypiggy · 17/06/2010 12:43

Thanks for recommendations girls I am going to investigate!

I had another scan/ check up this morning and apparently the baby's head is engaged... which is good! But also the baby has have a very enthusiastic growth spurt, so think i may have been feeding us both a bit too well as is currently 6lbs 9oz - am just over 35 weeks - so means baby will be well over 8lbs - nearer 9lbs when born if is around due date! If later - then I guess bigger!

Am now going to be careful about what I eat

bq sorry to hear about your DH's sperm count, I guess it must be shock for him. x

am thinking v. much about lovely mermaid x

anyway - hope everyone all ok xx

VJay · 17/06/2010 13:22

Just seen mermaids email, I am so so sorry my lovely, I am thinking of you

neeko not seen your email, will chase that one in a mo

blue so glad you enjoyed Landmark, ds1 loved those slides too, did you go on one?

louey the DLA form is a bugger, ds's social worker helped me fill it in, and I handed it in very late. The DLA people rang me and asked me why it was late and I said 'because I've just had a 2nd mc', and guess what, they backdated it for me, very good of them

BQ so sorry it is crap. Someone I know had a similar situation, anyway she is due very soon, so it can happen, just may take some time, it did for the person I know

{{{{{mermaid}}}}}

VJay · 17/06/2010 13:25

neeko that is very funny

OP posts:
Neeko · 17/06/2010 14:49

Vjay Glad you liked it

Iggy just keep eating, it really won't make a difference now so you might as well enjoy it! Boots on-line have offeres on breast pumps.

DD1 is having a sing/slide thing delivered today. Been waiting since 7am and it's still not here Still my lovely mum has taken H to pick up DD1 from nursery so I'm home alone!

justshaggy · 17/06/2010 14:58

Hi all,

Still not very well but wanted to touch base. I think someone I know has outed me in RL . Do you know if there is a way to retrospectively ask MN to chnage my username going backwards? I know I can chnage it going going forwards but that won't help if others scrawl through my personal info from the past.

jools I'm in the 2ww as well, but not feeling very postive about it at all. When are you due to test? Fingers crossed for you.

louey Have fun tonight!

MLS Good on your DH for shouting the odds for you! The thought that my immune system might be suppressed did occur to me (feeble grasp at hope) but realistically I think not ; the high temps hit at 1 DPO ... too soon for anything like that.

Barbie Your hair sounds fab. I also LOL at your stories The one about the alarm though made me go cold.

Vjay Hoping your doddery-doggy is loving all his pampering. They're such dear things, aren't they.

blue Your phone post looks like poetry when read on screen

iggy I have no idea what babies need - but "tits" seem like a real sensible starting point to me

BQ I feel for you. We're in a similar situation - just found out yesterday that DH has bad sperm morphology. It has hit me hard and I'm as low as low can be. Will probably off-load at some point myself, but if I do it now I'll just cry and cry and cry. Give your DH a bit of time to process the info, and maybe (if you feel up to it) find a whole bunch of good news stories on MN and print them to show him it can happen.

AFM, I'm getting better slowly. Still coughing and spluttering and I have ear-ache and cold sores around my mouth, in my mouth and in my nose. Never ever ever had them that bad (usually only get a small one on my lip). So fed up and exhausted by it. Don't know what this virus was but it knocked me for a six. Heading back to my bed for the afternoon.
