Hey folks, mind if I join?
I'm TTC1 and cycle 4.... day 26...
I've used the OPK test for the first time this month - glad I did as I got the line and realised that I probably tried BDing too early in previous months...
However, just did a test and got a BFN. Perhaps I tested too early.
I notice from your posts that are some fairly disciplined testers on here so I will try to follow your good examples! I'm also encouraged by Sloathy with her BFN on day 28 but BPF shortly after! (Congratulations Sloathy!).
I've told quite a few people that I'm TTC'ing as lots of friends already have babies and I just didn't think it was a big deal... but as the months are passing I'm rather feeling the weight of expectation...
Anyhew... looking forward to hearing everyone else's TTC posts.

almostknockedupgirl · 14/06/2010 10:09

Hi Jojo7! I bet it can get a bit much as time goes on, especially if you've told other people. I've told only my two closest friends, and my mum. Oh and the whole of MN!

clarebear1, lunar phase? I'm confused!

Happy shagging Nicola!

clarebear1 · 14/06/2010 13:07

Yeh on the ovulating calendar on the home page you write in cycle and lunar phase??

onelittletreasure · 14/06/2010 13:48

Hello all!

We are TTC no 2 as well. Must confess I don't understand most of the abbreviations (do I need to learn a new language?) We are finding no2 much harder than no 1 and am getting quite down about it. No. 1 took 2 weeks. So far this is month 4 trying for no. 2 and still nothing other than disappointment .

Hope by joining this thread all the positive thinking will cheer things up!

So.... need to try and decipher some of this stuff. Is there a glossary somewhere?!

xxx

onelittletreasure · 14/06/2010 14:10

Ah, that'll be a quick ref to the acronyms list then!

almostknockedupgirl · 14/06/2010 14:26

Oh luteal phase clarebear1! There I was thinking you were talking about getting naked and communing with the moon or somesuch...

Your menstrual cycle is divided into 2 phases - follicular (before ovulation), and luteal (after ovulation). You can work out the length of your luteal phase if you know how long on average it takes for your period to come after you've ovulated. Of course, to figure that out, you'd need to have monitored your cycle for a few months to work out when it is that you ovulate. I don't chart, but I'm sure the charting thread, or fertility friend will have lots of helpful tips on how you can work out that you are ovulating, and therefore how you can work out the length of your luteal phase. (Cervical mucus and temperatures seem to be involved, among other things.)

Hi onelittletreasure! The acronyms are still killing me. Make up your own! I'm sure no one will mind!

Oh and Jojo7, I forgot to say fingers crossed for you!

Nicolaplus1 · 14/06/2010 15:44

Pmsl at almostknockedup

Have now lost track of all of us on this thread

As for the abreviations they totally lose me to i find words much easier i must also say that ppl's name also confuse me somewhat hense mine Lol

How about a quick 1 liner from us all as to where where at??

Must add a quick question i picked up positive LH surge sat and sun never got round to shagging last night as DH was almost dead ( due to hectic weekend in flamingo land ) i did want to kill him BTW! so anyway we BD this morning, have i missed ovulation??
Most things i read say it occurs 12-36 hours after LH surge, tesed this morning and no LH surge.

What do you think am i in with a chance??

clarebear1 · 14/06/2010 15:46

Ahhh i see thanks!

LOL i got it wrong, Lunar! Haha no wonder when i googled it it started talking about moons

almostknockedupgirl · 14/06/2010 16:55

Haven't a clue Nicola! I don't know how accurate those OPK thingys are. Although I'd still be hopeful. Did you get any action in any other time at the end of last week/Saturday?

Happy to help clarebear! Although, I'm sure I'd be up for some pagan fertility rituals by moonlight as well.

QueenFaeriecakes · 14/06/2010 18:05

1st month of TTC , 3rd month of coming off the pill and now had 2 full good cycles......ovulation due around the 20th so lots of bed action around the 18th onwards!
so exciting!

got a BFP after one month when ttc my ds1 , so hoping the same luck is around this time!

baby2b · 14/06/2010 18:28

Hey Becky, the first month was a bit weird as I had spotting and then was a week late. The next month I was a week early and now it has gone back to 28 days exactly.

Nicola, if you had sex in the week leading up you can still be in with a good chance, fingers crossed

Just found out one of my best friends is 3 months pregnant, she kept that one quiet! I am super pleased for her, but also felt really jealous. Trying for a baby is turning me into a mad woman!

Anyway, day four of my cycle and enjoying a little break from the baby dancing, lol!

Hope everyone else is doing well xxx

almostknockedupgirl · 15/06/2010 22:39

Day 4 (not that I'm counting or anything - ahem). Drinking wine, eating all the unpasteurised cheese, pate, sushi I can get my hands on, and hoping I'm saying my final goodbyes to them.

It sounds like you and I are in sync baby2b. Exciting times in a few weeks for us, then!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Nicolaplus1 · 16/06/2010 10:26

Hi baby2b

We did it on thusday and then on monday morning, i think when you pick up a poisitve on OPK it indicates you will ovulate soon so am hoping we caught it

baby2b · 16/06/2010 16:07

Haha almostknockedupgirl, I have been exactly the same. Every month I'm thinking is this going to be my last glass of wine or cocktail for a while?!

Good luck Nicola, keep us up-dated xx

BeckyC26 · 16/06/2010 18:03

Sounds similar to me baby2b I think my body is a bit confused after 8 years of the pill and 1 year of the implant!

AF is here now so officially on day 1 of cycle. I think i'm going a bit crazy with it all, I end up thinking everything is a sign or a symptom! It doesnt help when people around you break their pregnancy news, there are 2 pregnant at my work and two more recently had babies! I'm suprised I havent gone green with envy when they bring their gorgeous little bundles in!

Has anyone given ovulation tests a go? Thinking of trying the clearblue digital one?

Good luck to everyone! xxx

baby2b · 16/06/2010 18:41

Hey Becky, I know exactly how you feel. There are four people at my work who are pregnant. One of the was an accident and still ended up pregnant after taking the morning after pill. I guess when its your turn its your turn!

I have been trying to temp this month, but my chart is looking a bit odd so far, so not sure if I'm doing it right, lol. Also, using first response ovulation tests as they were bogof in boots.

BeckyC26 · 16/06/2010 18:58

I'll take a look at those. I was gonna go with the clear blue digital because it gives a digital smiley when your likely to ovulate as apposed to having to judge the darkness of a line ...... i'm hoping this will limit confusion !

Maybe i'll try temping too, the only thing that puts me off is I think you have to do it at exactly the same time of day and add or take off degrees depending on how long you have been up!?! All very confusing!

A little part of me is thinking "why don't you just leave it to nature and see what happens?" but the other half is saying "NEED BABY NOW!!" lol!

x

baby2b · 16/06/2010 19:12

Yeah, I tried a couple of months of leaving it to nature and I'm way too impatient. I like the idea of the digital smiley, might purchase those next time, let me know how you get on with them.

My friend got pregnant really quickly and said temping helped so that's what drew me in. It has only been three days, but its not looking helpful so far. Had a couple of drinks on Monday evening and my temp was way higher on the Tuesday morning . Hopefully will get the hang of it in the next few days. Not sure how the timing thing will work at the weekend if I get up later? Anyone else done temping?

BeckyC26 · 16/06/2010 19:31

Impatient is my middle name i'll give them a try and let you know the outcome but fingers crossed we will both have BFP's by then! But even I don't i'm hoping it will have reassured me that I am actually ovulating!

Good luck queenfaeriecakes

jojo7 any update??

Nicolaplus1 · 16/06/2010 22:12

How about a little 1 liner ladies of where we are at

OP posts:
Nicolaplus1 · 16/06/2010 22:13

Cycle day 20 so on dreaded 2WW

OP posts:
almostknockedupgirl · 16/06/2010 22:39

Cycle day 5, with no signs of the fertile period (and not expected till next week anyway) so I'm twiddling my thumbs, boozing, and still taking my allergy meds (I'm already a bad mother). Although, my DH is clearly taking this much more seriously than I'd thought, as he told me off today for taking them. I shall be a puffy, teary, itchy, grumpy cow from tomorrow, and I won't even be pregnant! Oh dear.

And that was more than one line. Whoops!

BeckyC26 · 17/06/2010 19:31

Cycle day 2

baby2b · 17/06/2010 20:04

Cycle day 7, with very faint pink line on ovulation stick, but don't think that means much. Otherwise very similar to almostknockedup

Nicolaplus1 · 19/06/2010 22:07
