Hello world!

OP posts:
KiwiKat · 29/04/2010 22:00

Glad you've got a supportive boss, Alba - it makes all the difference. Yes, I loved that song too.

Italiangreyhound · 29/04/2010 22:32

Hippy Can?t believe you lived without a sink for 6 months, what was DH thinking! Sorry you are down ....and up....and down! Hang on in there.

Alba Hope all is well.

TFLS, thanks for your kind words, hope all is well.

Diege, Doubleshotlatte, rainbowdays, liaghen,Jollster, Gum, ILGH* and all, best wishes.

Kiwi well done for telling teacher!

Sorry if I have missed anything important!

My news is that we will go for adoption and if it fails for any reason we will review. In the meantime I will save money for whatever the future holds. I should say goodbye to you all but for the time being I will hang around. Love and arrow prayers to all Chocolate and to all.

rowingboat · 29/04/2010 22:38

Hi all,

Kiwi phew! That must be a huuuuge relief to get that out of the way. Now you can relax and find something new to worry about.
Hope you are getting lots of lovely early nights.

Alba don't mention the 'P' word. I can't sing that song waaaah! 'What's wrong mummy, why are you crying?'

Jollster yes Oyster Baster, as long as it's not Turkey Baster - sorry too long on assisted conception threads.

ILGH hope your head stops thumping very soon.

TFLS cool holidays! Enjoy yourself, just think years of Butlins holidays lie ahead, so make the most.

Hippy I know whooarrgh at the thought of them forgetting to defrost Barry, Foo-foo and Fluffy, not good.

liahgen66 · 30/04/2010 11:11

italian I wish you the very very best of luck and I hope your wishes for a family come true.

Well I am well and truly pissed off now, wasted a fiver, ( i know big spender ) on test and used it this morning, BFFN and then came on, aggghhhh!!!!!!!

24 days , wtf is that all about? I could cry, I can see my dreams disappearing in front of me.

(sorry self indulgent) Off to bluewater now to pick up my free cupcakes.

good weekend everyone.

rowingboat · 30/04/2010 13:33

What free cupcakes? [Considers driving down from Scotland]
Liahgen sorry to hear about the wasted test. You did make me laugh though at the unfortunate timing of it all.

OP posts:
hippychick66 · 30/04/2010 13:50

liaghen I am with you on the 24 day cycle thing. What is going on with us?? Not sure if it is age or MC or what. So sorry this wasn't your month. I know you try very hard as well - (every other night isn't it )

italian please don't say goodbye to us. the title of this thread doesn't mention TTC. You are trying to extend your family just the same as all the rest of us and i for one want to hear all about your experience. You are allowed to make friends on the adoption thread but please don't forget us .

As for me. Nothing much to report. Still feel very hormonal and once again i have a banging headache. No further spotting. feel like AF is imminent but can also convince myself that I'm preg too (if i try hard enough). Only day 20 so too early to test so will just sit tight and wait and feel .

Love to all.

AlbaDeTamble · 30/04/2010 15:51

If it helps, my cycles are 24-26 days... Just more chances to try is the way I see it.

AlbaDeTamble · 30/04/2010 18:36

Sorry that was a little curt, bit more time now. Sorry Lia that it's not your month, I've been there, remember testing bleary eyed one morning and let's just say I didn't need to look at the test to know it was negative. Horrible feeling, disappointment and feeling like a bit of a mug. But the short cycles may not be a problem, and do give you more chances. Oyster Bay is on offer in Tesco's...

Italian, hope having made a decision is helping you feel better. I too should probably leave this thread, but kind of comfortable here. I'm on a post-mc pg thread but a bit nervous of going back to hippy's thread just yet, having been there when it all went wrong iyswim... Is it ok to stick around a while, please?

Waiting for you to join me on your thread hippy, or better still we all get pg, Italian too, naturally, and adopts too just for good measure, and we just change this thread's title!

Waves to all

liahgen66 · 30/04/2010 18:52

don't worry alba i didn't read it as being curt.

Waht is oyster bay?

AlbaDeTamble · 30/04/2010 19:07

Sauvignon Blanc. Favourite tipple of a few of us (especially Jollster)

hippychick66 · 30/04/2010 19:08

I think it's quite funny how it is referred to as Hippy's thread. I feel like I left it ages ago.

I hope I will be able to join you soon alba on some kind of pregnancy thread. I don't know if I'll have the guts to re-join the one I started - it seems weird somehow.

As for me - banging headache again today. No further spotting. Feeling exhausted (yawning round tescos with 7 year old in tow) and also feeling very tearful.

I just said on another thread - I'm either pregnant or just knackered out (probably the latter )

Anyway, still far to early to test so will just have to sit tight and wonder. Might have a nice glass of red tonight - try a bit of reverse psychology on the cosmos.

Happy Friday to all. Italian judging by madonna and anjelina if you decided to adopt this week then the baby should be delivered about next Tuesday . Glad you are feeling calm and seem happier. Amazed, as usual, at your strength

hippychick66 · 30/04/2010 19:11

lia I see you're following the lady with the twins whose waters broke at 15 weeks as well. It's been a heck of a journey for her hasn't it. I think there'll be a party on MN when those babies are delivered safely.

liahgen66 · 30/04/2010 20:08

gosh absolutely. I was convinced it was all over for her with it being so early on. We should all send her some flowers or something when she has those babies I think. She's been so strong.

Hopeing your symptoms are pg and not pmt ones too.

ah ok alba I'm not really a drinker hence my ignorance. My dad is an alcoholic and lived with an xH who was a drinker, kind of leaves you with a nasty taste. I do have the odd gin, lime and soda or a cocktail but not really wine or suchlike. but i am usually tha only sober one doing kareoke.

hippychick66 · 30/04/2010 20:45

lia Isn't it lovely the way all these total strangers are all rooting for her - it shows just how much support MN can offer.

I hope all the symptoms are preg and not PMT as well. It's so easy to get swept up in imagining it's all down to a bean and then you feel a right numpty when your period comes. Ahh the joys of TTC.

Sorry to hear about your Dad - that must be very hard for you. Like the idea of someone being sober when they do Karaoke!!

Not long until the Mentalist - he is sooo sexy. I think it's the confidence that he exudes - such a turn on (is feeling horny for a man on the tv a preg symptom ???)

Pollyanna · 30/04/2010 22:14

hello all, haven't been on for ages - have had yet another period 21 days after the last, and it was shocking too. I felt like you liah, and just couldn't bear reading on here how many days I was and how many cycles it was taking. It was just better for me to stay off mn for a while and try to stop obsessing.

But anyway feeling better now, have stopped bleeding and went to see an acupuncturist who told me (as if I didn't know) that my hormones were all over the place

I think I may have said on the other thread alba congratulations! Sorry you have had the problems with your doctor.

And I became an aunty again yesterday! V excited. My dsis had her first baby at 38.

Hippy when are you due to test?

Hello rowing I'm here!

rowingboat · 30/04/2010 23:11

Hi everyone,

Pollyanna, there you are! I did think that was a very brief visit. Good news about the bleeding ending.

Alba yes do stay here. I want to hear how you are getting on and follow the whole thing. I think I would feel a bit peecooliar hanging out on pg threads, just to find out how our graduates are doing.
That goes for all the pg ladies, pop in when you can, just to let me/us know where you are and share the excitement.

Hippy not sure about the horny TV man symptom. I do love that programme as well, but sometimes I find him a bit too smug. It is nice to see his confidence though.

Lia I had no idea what it was either. I don't drink much and if I am going to it would be a nice bottle of cold beer, particularly this time of year.
My mum is tee-total and after a few years of boozy rebellion I can live without booze quite easily, so she must have influenced me after all.

I have been having a bit of a weird day. We have just heard which school my DS will be attending after Summer and it turns out lots of my friends will be going to a different school. Feeling a bit sad about it, but I know I will still see them, just won't see our children all growing up together waaaaaaaaaah! [pulls self together and scuttles off to watch the end of 'Burn Notice']

liahgen66 · 30/04/2010 23:44

hippy i really hate to be the bearer of bad news but have you revisited the twin lady thread.

Italiangreyhound · 01/05/2010 00:35

Hi liahgen66 I don?t know the twins lady but I am guessing things have been very touch and go. Sorry to hear that.

Hope all is OK with you and your older dd.

Hi Rowing You should have got my email and so all I need to say is 'I wish I really was still 39!' (My email says 39 - that's all.) Rowing is kindly passing on some info!

Pollyanna Hi, I don't think I have 'met' you.

Hippy I wonder if your headaches are stress related. Either a direst stress from the things you are experiencing at the moment (unhappiness about miscarriage or at not being pregnant again, or at job or not getting to move as you wanted yet) or possibly a reaction to something physical. I had bad headaches on hols in Sweden a couple of years ago. I was really thinking it was some sort of brain tumour (sorry, I am not being flippant, I really am paranoid). I got it checked out and I was told it was stress from my neck that was affecting my head. I was given some simple stretching exercises for my neck to relieve the tension and the headaches went.

Alba I am sure everyone wants you to stay around, so please do.

Diege, Doubleshotlatte, Rainbowdays, ILGH, TFLS and all, best wishes.

Sorry if I have missed anything important!

Thinking of you all.

Just watching How to Look Good Naked on E4, wow, it is so good, Gok is fab! He has managed to transform a dowdy 30 something whose marriage was about to fall apart into a catwalk model! I know it is not all about looks but I think confidence is so important.

Our news, I called to ask about adoption, they like people to have six months before proceeding after fertility treatment. That is a bit sad as I am raring to go, just feel an incredible peace about it all, but I do need to lose some weight, they do not usually let fat people adopt and your dear Italian greyhound is not as svelte as she was when she was a puppy!

Italiangreyhound · 01/05/2010 00:40

Special message for Gum please share your secrets about how you got into writing. There is a writers job going at work and I am applying. Any tips, please?

Italiangreyhound · 01/05/2010 04:03

Speaking of attractive men, did anyone see Dabid Gandy on Jonathan Ross show tonigh!

rowingboat · 01/05/2010 13:46

Hi all,
Italian, I didn't see that person on JR, who is he?
I will go and check my email. I thought it would be better to put the info in an email rather than post a load of stuff on here. Unless anyone else is interested in embryo adoption?
Oo, oo! I have heard of the neck stress thing, one of my friends has very bad headaches and it turned out to be related to tension in her neck.
I hate that thing where you are a bit tense and you turn your head and your neck goes on the wonk, for a week.. So then you end up turning your entire body to look at things, like an android.

OP posts:
Italiangreyhound · 01/05/2010 14:15

David Gandy isthe guy in the Dolchie and Gabana (spelling) clear blue ad, snogging a girl in a boat in the sea and we all watch thinking wow, what a fab place and what a fab man, well I do anyway! He is not a patch on my old man , of course

Thanks Rowing, will look out for the email.

Italiangreyhound · 01/05/2010 19:01

Hi Rowing, thanks for the email.

stinkypinky · 01/05/2010 19:12

Hello ladies, just popping in with news of a 40 plus success story. I was with you 9 months ago having just joined mumsnet. I was called Kaffywaffy, and got chewed by a few mumsnetters on another thread, so namechanged and lurked.

DD2 born on 21st April by ELCS weighing 10lb 3oz. Wilhelmina (known as Billie)

Beyond happy, and am very grateful to you guys for your support pre-conception.

May see you again in a year or so, as am considering doing it all again.

Best of luck to you all...

randomimposter · 01/05/2010 20:04

well done stinky... what a lovely story to brighten up Saturday night.... how old are you exactly

don't get the David Gandy thing I'm afraid. AMAZING body I concede, but does nothing for me...

Hippy empathise on the DIY issues... had no kitchen for six months when first weaning DS; a microwave only. No sink like you. Also no bathroom sink for months too... and various several day stints of peeing/pooing in a bowl whilst heavily pregnant... HOWEVER all paid off as house not officially on market til Tuesday and an advance viewer yesterday has already offered full asking price... GET IN!!!!

Pollyanna welcome back. Did you go to Dyke Road clinic or elsewhere for acu. Pleased with it so far?

Italian please hang around.

Off to get a DVD as Sat TV SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dire. Waves to all.
