Skater I'm afraid I can't help you at all because I live about 200km from Amsterdam, however I do know of a good hotel deal which includes a night at the infamous supper club - I'll find the URL tonight.

skihorse · 17/08/2009 17:01

Skater www.hotelv.nl/hotel_amsterdam/pages/176/v_specials/

iggypiggy · 17/08/2009 17:03

All this talk of Amsterdam... I once went twice in 2 weeks back in 2003 - 2 separate holidays - with 2 sep groups of friends... Last time (2006?) I went we stayed here for one night only as is v. posh and not my usual experience of Amsterdam

Dylan Hotel

cheggers football stomoach sounds bad - hope you better soon...

cosmosis thailand would be lovely... always wanted to go there..

scorp am concerned mine may develop into problem too.. especially with the high number of young mums in my lovely part of London

Scorpette · 17/08/2009 17:07

Skater my brother lives in Amsterdam - want me to get some good recommendations off him for ya? I don't do restaurants, being allergic to virtually everything. Can do lots of recs for other cool stuff in The 'Dam

I have 2 questions for you lot:

  1. Being 70s-born BESHies, how many of us have Louise as a middle name? I do! Luckily, my first name isn't 70s-tastic.

  2. If you're post-BOD, is it legal to murder a teeny bint you overhear at the gym saying to her mate 'I can't believe it's taken me 3 months to lose all my babyweight! If I'd've stayed a 12 forever, I'd've had to've killed myself!'.

She didn't mention Shagging RandomsTM but I have my suspicions...

PS Yes, will properly research which deities to sacrifice animals to before I splash out on a pricey set of butcher's knives

skihorse · 17/08/2009 17:14

Scorpette Go ahead. Although I'm more disgusted with the mid-30s girl who put on 8lbs and had an underweight baby with difficulties. That, IMO, is fucking disgusting - but hey, her ambition was to be super-slim for a wedding she has next month...

I have 2 scottish gaelic names and one greek.

SkaterGrrrrl · 17/08/2009 17:14

Thanks Ski and yes please Scorp to Amsterdam eating!

(1) As a child of the 70s I have a 70s-tastic first name... and loads of friends called Sarah or Nicola/ Nicolette/ Nicole.

(2) Ha! Extenuating circumstances much.

SkaterGrrrrl · 17/08/2009 17:17

Oooh and piggy the Dylan looks fab, you lucky thing!

VeryAngryGusset · 17/08/2009 17:31

Think my first name was old-fashioned even in the '70s - though my middle name is Anne - can I still play?

Spent the weekend with my adorable 3yo niece - but still no ovary-pinging sensation. Ginny's small is gorgeous too but it still doesn't make me want one any more than usual. Am I odd? - or unusually unmaternal? Argh. Prob doesn't help that my sis is pg and it looks so darned uncomfortable.

Ooh look - gin-o'clock! Pip-pip!

VeryAngryGusset · 17/08/2009 17:33

ps (2) bet she's lost the baby down the back of the sofa as well by now, silly cow. What is wrong with people?

Scorpette · 17/08/2009 17:38

Ski who is this scrawny, undeserving bitch and where can I read about it? I feel like a good judge

Skater will ask my bro . Am trying to work out your 70s-tastic name now: Donna? Michelle? Shelley? Joanne? Hayley? Samantha? Tracy/Tracey? Rebecca? Alison? Karen? Emma? Claire/Clare? Amanda? Rachel? I think I've named everyone I went to school with now, not incl. the Sarahs, Nicolas and Louises.

Scorpette · 17/08/2009 17:51

VAG My first name is grantastic too. Anne and Jane are also acceptable cliched 70s middle names

triggerhappybaby · 17/08/2009 17:53

Wendy?

Scorpette · 17/08/2009 18:03

Oooh, you lot are rich gits. We always stay here in Amsterdam (because my brother is too disorganised to get his shit together for his big sister and her partner to stay with him for a few days, despite having a big 2 bed apt in the poshest part of the city): www.ericbnb.com/amsterdam_BnB.html We stay in The Loft. Thigh-bustin' stairs a-gogo!

triggerhappybaby · 17/08/2009 18:11

I have really bad cramp in my jaw. Do you reckon it could be BJ related?

OP posts:
ginhag · 17/08/2009 18:24

I don't have a middle name.To be honest you lot know almost everything about me now anyway (don't any of you fuckers steal my identity,I'd be really pissed off!)

VAG seriously think you should borrow small gin for a bit, then you will properly decide againstbreeding ever have a chance to explore your maternal feelings.

I am back to being skinny post-pg. And tbh I fucling hated being huge. It doesn't suit me,am not naturally curvaceous and ended up looking like a balloon on sticks.

However I would never have done owt to endanger the small one,and anyway eating my own bodyweight in lasagne was fun.

The bit that was really weird for me was getting utterly hideously far far too skinny while breastfeeding and not sleeping at all ever.I looked so ill,and I could see people looking at me like I was doing it on purpose

look like a human again now hooray. Would like to put forward the view that not all skinny women are bitches tho (tho intentionally not gaining weight during pg is criminal)

ginhag · 17/08/2009 18:28

Ps cheggs we're hoping for good news from you soon matey.

ginhag · 17/08/2009 18:31

By the way I do eat food.quite a lot actually.

donttrythisathome · 17/08/2009 19:07

cheggs sure you don't just need a huge fart

skihorse · 18/08/2009 08:34

Goedemorgen dames

Bessie123 · 18/08/2009 08:41

I have 70s first name and middle name.

Gin - am still trying to lose half a stone of babyweight. Am v of you. BUT I am eating pastry for breakfast and I haven't been to the gym for about 3 years. I do look like a balloon on sticks (but slightly chubby sticks).

Cosmosis · 18/08/2009 09:05

I have 70's first name, and one of the afforementions ubiquitous middle names also (although in my defence my middle name is my mum's name). My parents did think they were being unusual with my first name apparently, unfortunately every other parent in 1974 thought the same

chEGGs how are you feeling today? Hope you're ok, we're all rooting for you.

longwee · 18/08/2009 09:22

Hello hello hello

Just checking in to say Hi - have been keeping up with the goings on but don't have anything of interest to say re SWI so have been staying shtum.

ski & gin - and anyone else who has had a m/c - how long did your cycles take to get back to normal after yours? I know triggy's took aaages (sorry for that mate) but would like to hear some encouragement that it might all snap back into place straight off...

ski ooh go on, at least give us a thread we can start with and do our own burrowing from there... I too am loving the judgypantsfest that comes with these threads...

Scorpy I saw you comment on a baby name thread so I know your name . Tis lovely. I have a tres odd name (as the FBers will know) as does my sister, which I've never fathomed coz 1) my parents are (extremely lovely but) very conventional and 2) my brother is called 70s tastic gary

skihorse · 18/08/2009 09:26

longwee I was back to normal immediately. I bled on the friday, tested negative on the monday and my period arrived 28 days later - I'm usually 26-28.

My sister has middle-eastern/arabic names... which is odd - given we're scottish jews.

Cosmosis · 18/08/2009 09:27

I love your name longwee, I think it's beautiful.

skihorse · 18/08/2009 09:29

longwee I really can't give out the thread I'm sorry. But, this is not an unknown phenomena - there was an article in one of the US broadsheets not so long ago about this - it even has some daft catchphrase like "Manhatten bump" - the perfect pregnancy of course being one in which you put on no weight whatsoever! I will see if I can find it for you. I know nobody wants to end up 18 stone and scoffing 2 pizzas every night whilst pregnant - but I thought as ginhag and Bessie implied - it was a time to have that extra hobnob and say to hell with it!?
