Firerise I agree with Nancy. after coming off bcp I had lots of 'pregnancy symptoms' towards the end of the cycle. I have used OPKs this cycle and I'm just getting +ives and i'm on cd 18. So very useful as I was getting fed up and less willing

sky27 · 15/08/2009 20:32

...although I now think they are probably ovulation symtoms...which may be why I didn't get pg last cycle as I went off sex

WickedWitchSouthWest · 15/08/2009 20:53

Evening ladies!

Sorry snowbunny...altho the back of the bus sounds like a fun place to be if that's any consolation. I've just got scared by how close to the front I'm getting...I should probably not be drinking this wine now but I've had the day from hell with madam dd and I've bloody earned it!

firerise, I've been using cheapie ebay opk's for the last 2 cycles due to my irregularity. And this month we did the bonking as much as poss method too. I quite like them but I'm a serial tester so having something to dip / pee onto makes me feel Im'm doing something constructive

Saying that, I'm not feeling confident this month tho, just been out and bought some Always silk (nice) and two big slabs of dairy milk for when the ob turns up.

sweetkitty · 15/08/2009 21:17

firerise - I am using the OPKs to see if I was ovulating after breastfeeding and a chemical pregnancy, have a 27 day cycle and ovulate CD15, confirmed by EWCM this evening, I wouldn't use them every month but good to know where your cycle is at IYSWIM?

WickedWitchSouthWest · 15/08/2009 21:25

ha, i've just realised that i've been using the dreaded "ob" again. Of course, PERIOD is what I meant

Medee · 15/08/2009 21:57

is there a time of day that is best for using OPKs?

MrsRigby · 15/08/2009 22:15

Evening everyone

Not looking forward to tonight, DH and I are having sex (the sooner I'm pregnant the better, I can have another 15+ months rest). I just pray it's over quickly. I might give him a blow job to speed up the process .

Okay so symptom spotting today and I have an absent period - I wasn't due (actually no idea when I'm due), dull sharp cramp like discomfort to the left lower abdomen, a long blue vein on my left breast, a couple of spots on my face and insane hunger as soon as I get up in the mornings .

I've got my fingers crossed for you next time snowbunny1. firerise I can't use OPK's, I have PCOS so would probably bancrupt myself trying to find out if and when I'm ovulating. But I do agree with nancypreg and sky27 that they will help, especially if you have regular periods.

sweetkitty · 15/08/2009 22:15

Apparently LH is made in the mornings so FMU isn't the best to use, I test about 11am and 8pm just to be sure.

sweetkitty · 15/08/2009 22:17

MrsRigby - X post, you cannot give him a BJ his swimmers will end up in the wrong place

Medee · 15/08/2009 22:20

is it worth trying now, SK? I think it is probably too early in the month, but I am curious, and have some freebies which expire next month.

sweetkitty · 15/08/2009 22:23

medee - I think mine say try from CD10 if you don't know your ovulation day.

I used them first for DD1 who took 9 cycles to conceive, I have a 27 day cycle so was shocked when I ovulated on CD15 I thought it would be earlier but it was good to know

LastTrainToNowhere · 15/08/2009 22:33

Right, it's day 7 and I'm going to start jumping dh from tonight for the next 10 days!

mampam · 15/08/2009 22:56

NancyPreg, thanks that does make sense. Think I need to get some more OPK's for nest time (hopefully that won't be necessary though!).

MrsRigby I hope you're going to just get him going with a blowjob and then let him finish off in the right direction?!!
Maybe I could seduce DH with the promise of a blowjob? Not sure I can be arsed though really, it's easier to just bend over and let him have his wicked way with me .

mampam · 15/08/2009 22:57

I meant next time!!

sweetkitty · 15/08/2009 23:06

I always give a BJ as part of foreplay, he returns the favour, orgasm good for TTC sucks the swimmers up changes conditions in the vagina better for swimmers, if I am already "happy" he can do what he wants then. As Tesco say "every little helps"

sweetkitty · 16/08/2009 09:48

Morning fellow shaggers

Not that we did last night, was supposed to but erm for a few reasons we didn't just hope some of the guys were in the right place from the night before.

So I suppose it's officially the 2WW, might have anther go tonight just to be sure then a few recreationals just so DP doesn't feel all I do is use him to make babies (never heard him complain though) but you know men you have to flatter their wee egos a bit.

So how is everyone else anyone close to testing yet?

tobago04 · 16/08/2009 10:35

Morning, god i'm going to be so tired if all this bonking has to continue!
Thought about doing a test yesterday morning as i was going out for a drink with MIL but decided against, wonder how long this cycle is going to be? DH keeps saying i must be pregnant as we've been at it so much!
Only time will tell!

Medee · 16/08/2009 11:14

I'm going to use the OPK later this morning, to see where I am. I'm at day 13 today.

Medee I used to test in the morning and again in the afternoon but after learning about my cycle, I now just test once per day at about 6pm. This is because, in my case, I get a day or more of 'warning' results, whereby the test line is about 25% of the control line, in terms of width and strength....so, for me, there's no point testing twice per day just to be told the same information. As an example, this cycle, I had two 25% results on consecutive afternoons, then the third afternoon it was (pedant alert) 90% positive (I gauge this by how long it takes the test line to show up). I knew that on the fourth afternoon it would be 100% in seconds and it was, plus the EWCM and cervical poistion are other giveaway signs. If you are getting to know your cycle, then testing twice would cover all bases. It's also fun to do because you feel as though you're doing something constuctive!

LastTrain 10 days bonking wow, now that really should cover all bases! Good luck

mampan love the malapropism!

Is anybody else struck by the irony of our bus threads?

When young and free, we spent our time seeking out any-time, rampant sex and praying that our periods would arrive on time......now that we are old(er!) and ttc, we spend our time seeking out organised, fertile sex and praying that our periods stay away in the hope that we are pg

Happy bonking

LastTrainToNowhere · 16/08/2009 11:22

NancyP I like your theory. There's a good psychology dissertation there

Well, I'm not really going ot have 10 days worth of bonking. DH and I don't normally have a lot of sex (we've been together 12 years, so not surprising). Our usual rate is about twice a month. If I don't jump him, it's never going to happen!

mampam · 16/08/2009 11:39

DH was like a rampant rabbit last night!! We'd already had a quickie in the afternoon and he was raring to go at bedtime too!

I think TTC has awoken something in him and he wants to be at it all the time. I used to complain that he never wanted sex, now I'm not complaining, I'm just bloody knackered!!

sayanything · 16/08/2009 12:03

Hello all. A quick wave to say I'm back from hols, still periodless and being slowly driven mad. I've even taken to allowing myself the daft thought that the chemical pregnancy was a mistake and that in fact I'm still pregnant. I know that it's common to have a messed-up cycle after a MC but, I hate not knowing what is going on with my body, hate it.

Sorry for ranting, really didn't mean to spoil the shagchat, please ignore me.

Medee · 16/08/2009 12:07

well, men's sex drive is all about scattering their seed as much as possible, Mampam!

NancyP - I am CD13 today.

((say))

(do you do hugs this way on MN?)

tobago04 · 16/08/2009 12:17

Big hug to you sayanything hope period arrives soon
There has got to be lots of BFBs after all this bonking surely! Fingers crossed for everyone

tobago04 · 16/08/2009 12:18

sorry meant BFPs
