Shiny new thread for us

The race is on for the first BFP!

OP posts:
mm1509 · 01/09/2009 17:14

Hi fifi so sorry for what has happened, I think we have all heard the familiar question regarding dates. I know my last mc they were questioning the dates so much I would have had to fell preg after my BFP.

Regarding ttc right away you can fall preg in the next cycle after a mc, the only downside right now if you done a preg test it may still show up as a BFP and it's sometimes an idea to wait until you get a BFN before trying so you know the result is true. I was still getting a BFP 3 weeks after my last mc as the preg hormones can still be in your body. I've had 3 mc and have waited a couple of months each time before trying again so haven't been ttc right away but some of the girls on here have been ttc right away so I am sure someone will be along shortly to advise you more than I know.

Hope you are coping emotionally, it is easier when you have DC, I always found stealing a few extra hugs from them lifted my spirits. Take care.

mm1509 · 01/09/2009 17:16

Crossed posts with jools, mm waves franticly.

barbie1 · 01/09/2009 17:16

mm i texted you with new of vjay hours ago...did you not get my text?

GracieGirl · 01/09/2009 17:26

Congratulations Vjay and Mr Vjay!!!! Our first Emmsys graduate! Thanks Barbie for texting me at work to let me know.

Welcome to our thread Fifi, I would agree with above advice to wait until you've have a BFN until trying again so you definately know its a new pregnancy (mine stayed positive for more than 2 weeks after a miscarriage at 10 weeks). Other than that I recommend Lesley Regan's miscarriage book for good advice. Also the "Deanna Plan" is good for tips on conceiving after miscarriage (though a little tiring!!) link. I conceived again after having 3 AF's and I'm now nearly 18 weeks pregnant.

anniebigpants · 01/09/2009 17:32

Just logged on and see we have our first Emmsys graduate .
Well done Vjay, big congrats to you and mrVJay. Welcome to the world babyVJay

Welcome to fifi. I see you are from the same neck of the woods as myself
When it comes to TTC after a MC there is no right or wrong time. This time i waited until id had one AF, just to make sure things were 'working' properly, and was extremely fortunate to get BFP straight away.

Waves to everyone else, im back to work tomorrow after 5 whole days off with DH and DS.

mm1509 · 01/09/2009 17:45

barbie sorry didn't check my phone just seen your text, doh. Thanks for texting me hun xx.

gg can't believe you are 18 weeks already, are you feeling any movement yet.

annie hope you enjoyed your time off, seen on fb that it's not too long till your mat leave, the countdown is starting already.

anniebigpants · 01/09/2009 17:59

Hi mm, really enjoyed time off thanks. Im getting quite tired working now, as such long days, i dont admit this to DH as he'd want me to go off on maternity leave sooner, but the plan is to work until 38 weeks, if possible.

BlueMoon1981 · 01/09/2009 18:19

shhhh i'm not really here, but couldn't let vjays little miracle go unnoticed, i am very happy for the vjay family, hope you are all doing well

mm1509 · 01/09/2009 19:07

annie I know what you mean, I remember with DD I wanted to work as late as poss so I had more time off after she arrived. Don't work too hard though.

moon nice to see you are still lurking, it is a special day.

littlebellsmum · 01/09/2009 19:22

Congrats to the larger family Vjay - fab news.

Thaks for the messages, edd is going just fine. I'm away at work in Barcelona, no family to get morose with and no time to think. All in all a good result.
Hope Thursday is a good day for you Neeko

mermaidspurse · 01/09/2009 19:44

BuddhaBellyBigPants · 01/09/2009 20:12

Congratulations Mr&MrsVJay and baby optimus, fantastic news, our first graduate I am so so pleased for you all gives each and everyone of us hope and a little light at the end of the tunnel
FiFi Welcome to our thread, I'm sure you will fit in well with us, and I'm glad you have found us although that it's in unfortunate circumstances. Feel free to cry, laugh and moan in no particular order

Big hello to everyone else, will try and catch up properly soon

bluesatinsash · 01/09/2009 20:16

mermaid mine is on and swaddling me in softness .

Still beaming for Vjay and can't wait to see pics.

As a true reflection of this thread its lovely (but ) to welcome fifi at the start of the journey. I read your post last week when MLS mentioned you might be joining us. So very sorry to hear your news. Both my mc were at 8 weeks and I also had the 'are you sure your dates are right?' clutching at straws conversation, its awful as there is a teeny tiny part of you that thinks just maybe they are wrong...

If you mc naturally last Thurs I would take that as cycle day 1 (CD1) but as Gracie and Jools say, be careful in this first cycle as you can get wrong readings on ovulation sticks and HPTs.

MM is right, give your DS's big cuddles, they will help you through this and we will do all we can to help .

CurlyBigPants · 01/09/2009 20:28

Yay for our first ever emmsys angels graduate and congrats to VJ mrVJ and optimus prime My heart is just bursting with happiness for you, and for us all because you give us such hope

Back in a little while after I've caught up!

Joolsiam · 01/09/2009 20:33

Well Im raising a large glass of something pink and alcoholic to our latest cyber-nephew

mermaidspurse · 01/09/2009 20:52

yep me too jools although any excuse is a good one! bottoms up to Optimusxx

MummyLovesSadie · 01/09/2009 20:54

Firstly, Vjay YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to you & baby Optimus! I knew it was going to happen last night! Can't wait to see the pics & hear ALL the gory details! . I had a text from Neeko to let me know & I was crying in the car & then when I was reading through the thread I started crying all over again!

Secondly, welcome Fifi I'm glad you made it over here. It's a good day to join us with the best news possible from one of our big panters. I told you everyone on this thread was lovely . I think the majority of us wanted to ttc again as soon as we could. After my mc in Feb I had a bfp in May & then the last mc in July I had a bfp a month later. I've heard that you are more fertile after a mc, I don't know how true that is, maybe you are just more desperate! I second what the others have said re waiting to get a bfn before trying again. Do a hpt every week until you get one, then go for it!

Moon shhhhh, I won't tell anyone I saw you but it's great to know you are lurking & I hope you come back properly soon.

Annie just take it as easy as you can at work. I planned to make it to 38 weeks but my body was a wreck & I ended up on crutches so I left at 36 weeks.

GG I can't believe you are nearly 18 weeks, I nearly fell off the sofa when I read that! That means I would have been about 19 or 20 weeks now. How is the bump coming along? I bet you haven't got a flat tummy anymore huh?

Jools what cd are you on now - have you started symptom spotting yet??! Where has our list gone? We need to update it with Vjay & Fifi. I'm dying to know if the upsuck theory has worked for you !

Lion I'd put bets on you being next & soon!! I hope you have your bag packed!

Sabs firstborns are statistically usually on the late side, my dd was 2 days late.

Blue I think slipping into your nightgear early is something that happens one you have children as I'm always in mine by 7! I booked my scan today, thanks for asking. It's next Thursday [crapping pants emoticon].

Iggy if you are lurking, come back soon.

4ever loved the bit about the sermon - these vicars sometimes talk some sense! So good to hear you radiating calm & happiness.

Barbie what an inspirational story. I think sometimes our paths cross with people for a reason. Intrigued as to how long your sister was married for....

Cupcake good luck for your interviews.

Neeko have hair strokes & foot massages from me. There is absolutely no reason why things should go wrong for you this time. Like I said today, boob soreness & size goes up & down in early pregnancy - believe me I've done a lot of googling on the subject today! It could have been completely coincidental that a temporary loss of boob soreness coincided with your mmc.

I've developed a habit of walking round the house & patting my nipples like two obedient puppies to see if they still hurt. Next I'll be offering them biscuits & telling them to sit.

Big waves to all, hugs all round & apologies to those I've missed.

mermaid and jools have an extra one each for me! Vjay's news has so lifted my spirits today so well done. Hope the lovely lady herself is resting in between gooey loving gazes at the new man in her life!

Fifi so glad you've decided to join us. This is the best place to be buring dark times. Mine was a MMC discovered at 12 weeks but LO died at 9+1. Like you I had a tiny amount of bleeding followed by a very distressing scan. There was no discussion of getting dates wrong as HB should have been obvious at 8+1. It took 2 weeks for a BFN and 7 weeksish for 1st Af. We started trying straight away, using opks and temping after BFN and I got my BFP after the third cycle, but they were freakishly long ones. As you know I'm now 10 weeks and freaking out before my scan on Thursday. This is a tough time for you, but you're stronger than you think and the coping will get easier. In the meantime let it all out here. We've all been there and truly understand.

I'm also in my dressing gown (Debenhams, but still cosy) can I join the dressing gown gang? By the way Mermaid is the dressing gown to hide your pantless status?

So nice to see so many of us on here celebrating Vjay's joy. Nice to be a cyber-auntie isn't it?

Neeko · 01/09/2009 21:18

MLS PMSL at your patting puppies and biscuits! I do check but have never considered the biscuits.

I bought DD snakes and ladders today and she beat both me and DH several times. Had to drag her away at bathtime. Think I might cheat tomorrow...

Joolsiam · 01/09/2009 21:23

Well I've got to drink wine - there is a leak outside the house and the water main has been turned off !

MLS - laughing at your puppies

In answer to your question - yes, the upsuck theory has worked for me before, but this is an extended study

As you can see, only CD15, so 1DPO and trying hard not to obsess. I'm trying a different approach this time as I find it hard to talk about symptoms on here - have joined a symptom spotting thread instead

I realised yesterday that I couldn't remember the EDD of my last lost LO and was - then I saw Scorpios EDD - think I was due a day or two before her ... Not sure why it should matter, but it does.

Neeko · 01/09/2009 21:37

Of course it matters Jools because we're all neurotic on here and not remembering is a loss of control Glad you've joined a symptom-spotting thread, but please do some symptom spotting here.

I've just written all DD's party invitations so I'll be spending what would have been my EDD surrounded by family and kids on a sugar rush! It'll certainly not be quiet although DH and I have just agreed to release a helium balloon to mark the day before the madness begins.

CurlyBigPants · 01/09/2009 21:50

Mammoth post alert!!!!

mrskate so glad you've got another week off. Time goes by faster after 9 weeks, honest! How are you feeling?

barbie are you still in the chicken costume? I love that image I was thinking about you today when my belly seemed to have suddenly popped out and become all hard - just like you last week I loved your story today, very heartwarming

Moon if you are lurking please know I'm thinking of you xxx Hope TTC is going well. Come back soon

mermaid are you still wearing no knickers you brazen hussy . At least you're wearing your dressing gown though! Like neeko I hope lack of trying somehow has the opposite effect xxx

annie thanks so much for texting me today. I was in the middle of a stress meltdown at work so it was the loveliest distraction to hear vj's news. Take it easy girl and try not to work too hard

MummyLovesSadie · 01/09/2009 21:54

Jools pleeeeaaassse still do some symptom spotting here too .

Neeko sounds like your dh is very understanding re your edd. I told my dh yesterday that my 1st edd was in 19 days time & his reaction was 'oh well'. Also looks like I might be going for my scan alone next week as he says it'll be difficult to rearrange his whole diary.

MummyLovesSadie · 01/09/2009 21:59

Curly you must usually be skinny as my belly popped out at 14 weeks with dd!
