FruitynNutty · 26/04/2009 10:15

Morning,

Well I had a bit of a revelation last night whilst flicking through MN. I have Tubular hypoplastic breasts It's linked to PCOS and it means I don't have enough milk producing tissue because they didn't develop properly (I just thought they were small and oddly shaped) which is why I can't satisfy Jack after so many hours of feeding
I'm going to the GP on Weds for my 6 week check. I'm going to ask for some medication (Domperidone) to get my milk going and I need to order some fenugreek (been meaning to do this for ages)

I just wanted all you pregnant girlies, who are desperate to BF like I am, to understand it because if any of you have it then you will struggle to BF. It's something that needs to be addressed before you give birth.
I doubt any of you have weirdo boobs like mine as it's so rare but I just didn't want any of you to go through what I have. It's shit and unfair

FruitynNutty · 26/04/2009 10:19

Ooops, x-posts Sparkly! Do you have a New Look with maternity? It's pretty good in there.....

One thing that's good about this wierdo boob thing is that I reckon I'm likely to get an augmentation on the NHS - something I've longed for! I don't want them much bigger just made to look normal!

SparklyPseudonym · 27/04/2009 09:06

Fruity No, our New Look doesn't stock maternity so I think I'll order some bits and bobs online...but will wait until I've had scan tomorrow first . Glad you've found some suggestions to increasing milk. Good luck with GP. xxx

Quiet in here this weekend! There weather is rubbish today so it might force me to do some work. Am actually planning on heading to my parents - no internet access=no distractions...bliss!! We'll see how long that lasts!!

24 hours until scan arrrgggghhhhhhh

BellaHarry · 27/04/2009 13:40

Sparkly glad the headache's at bay! Have you tried Blooming Marvelous? They have a fab sale and I bought A LOT of things on there recently loads of clever mix and match pieces (although they are getting a little snug now!) Interesting about the measurements, thanks.

Fruity very interesting info on the boobs!! I hope the doc sorts you with the meds and you spurt the little blighter silly next time he feeds I read good things on the fenugreek too! As for the Tiara, I'll look it out when you need it; it's on the loft so need a weekend of notice to get DH up there but would love to see it on someone; it was a little bargain; worth £140 but bought at end of line sale for £20!!!! As for the something old, I had an old/blue penny in my bra and a blue angel pin on my garter!

I'm fed up with work and have 10 more weeks 'til mat leave - 3rd July just can't be bothered!! I teach from my chair and my mat clothes are getting tight so I'm feeling a little self concious in front of the kids!! Especially as my nips show throught white bra and white top (learnt that the hard way!! ) I'm getting way too excited at Johnsons/Pampers adverts too!!! get silly and cooey at all the babies aaaw

teeheelaydee · 27/04/2009 14:52

Fruity So pleased that there may be some help for you on the bf front. Sorry to make you - honestly I have no secrets I totally accept that I've been incredibly lucky...so far. I really admire your perseverance and if it doesn't work out you can come away knowing that you did EVERYTHING you can to make it work. Other than that how are you enjoying your new boy?

Sparkly Good luck for the scan. I also got a couple of good bits in Blooming Marvellous & M&P's sale. Also found H & M excellent. New Look stuff was awful anyway so your not missing anything.

Bella How are you feeling these days? I was the same with work quite honestly, couldn't be bothered with it once I got closer - hence my enormously long mat leave! - only 10 weeks and you'll have half term before then. Oh don't know if anyone as already answered but I reckon you'll be fine painting - I did and it's only one room.

Georgie When is estimated move in date - hope you'll put some photos up as am dying to see the finished article.

Big hellos to everyone else. Noah had his first hissy fit yesterday morning. We coped and he then slept for most of the day and went to bed at 9- yey! Took him to DP's school today to show him off - it was lovely.

Noah still asleep in DP's arms - do I have time to look for a bf dress? Probably not!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 27/04/2009 15:45

Hello lovely TeeHee. Seems as if you and DH are coping really well with your new small bundle of lovely-ness. Am really pleased that you're enjoying it. I can remember so vividly just flapping about like a wet fish when we bough Mollie home. Didn't have a bloody clue what I was doing. Oh how times have changed!!! We're due to move in w/c 15 June. It's really coming along now. I'll take some more pics in a couple of weeks when you'll really be able to see a difference.

Fruity So pleased that you've found that info. I hope it'll take the pressure of you a bit. It's really impressive that you're perservering with BF. I take my hat off to you. Hope the drugs/fenugreek really help you. And if you are serious about getting a breast augmentation, then call me because I've had one. Really looking forward to seeing you next week.

Bella How did the painting go? No ill effects I hope. And the time will whizz by as TeeHee said. It's just a pain in the ass having to keep your hormones under control! I can just about keep it together with my own kids. I'd have a REALLY hard job being nice to other people's all day every day . But, that's why you're a teacher and I'm not .

Sparkly Have you managed to tear yourself away from the 'pooter? Finger's crossed for your scan. I'm sure it'll all be tippity top with LO. You had such a good Nuchal. It's a healthy one, this one. I can feel it in my bones!

Hello's and hugs to everyone else. xxxxx

BellaHarry · 27/04/2009 18:18

teehee thank you for the painting advice, I'm going to help out but DH will do most of it.
I'm feeling much better at the moment, not sure why just a lot 'lighter'' if that makes sense. Congrats on dealing with the crying!
Bet it was lovely to show Noah off! Can't wait to do that!

georgie I kept dh company as he painted! Doing more this weekend!
If I'm honest the kids at school do get on my nerves a bit but they are also really sweet and always ask about baby! Bless

SmilingEi · 27/04/2009 21:25

hi ladies
hope everyone is ok
no news here (no news is good news in my book) i have decided i am not going to spend my time obsessing over tests now as it isnt doing me any good so im leaving that up to the GP who i should be going to see on thursday night/friday morning (i forgot to ring today as work was mad busy)
i WILL ring tomorrow i promise
mollie hope things are ok with you
sparkly good luck with the scan tomorrow everything will be fine i can feel it in my bones
georgie bet you cant wait to move back into your house im very excited to see pictures (i LOVE a good renovation/decoration i think my 2nd choice job would be interior design)
hi to everyone else
xx ei xx

cricri · 27/04/2009 22:02

Ei Glad everything is OK with you and hope you get a GP's appt for later in the week and get some answers.
Good luck with your scan tomorrow Sparkly, I'm sure everything will be fine, as Georgie said, the nuchal was great. You get another look at your LO too!
Fruity Really pleased you have some answers at last re bf. You've been doing a great job persevering so far, it's great. I went to visit a friend on Saturday who has a 4 week-old DD and a 5 year-old DS and she gave up bf after 2 weeks because she was struggling to find the time to feed the baby (hours of feeding) and felt she wasn't producing enough milk to satisfy her and her weight was dropping fast. It's so difficult, especially if you have other DCs too. Good luck at the GP's on Wednesday and hope you get the domperidone. The fenugreek will help too.
Teehee Glad all is going well, lovely to go and show off Noah at DP's school. Hope you managed to find a lovely bf dress
Bella Glad you're feeling a bit brighter atm. I also don't know how you cope facing a classroom full of kids! Not long to go now until half-term and it's a short week next week too with the BH.
Georgie So pleased the building works are going well Such a relief for you.
No news from Mollie? If you're lurking Mollie, hope you're OK. Don't hide if you're having a wobble, we're here to help.
By the way ladies, did we sort out a date for meeting up in the end? Sometime in June wasn't it?

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 28/04/2009 13:08

Blimey it's quiet in here today. Everyone OK? I think you're all gainfully employed or looking after your children..... says's the lady that has her DH home and is being a slacker today .

Popped into GP's today to get some eyedrops for hayfever. He did a quick ante natal check on me.....blood pressure fine, but he measured my bump at 33cm . F7ck. I'm not built for a big baby. Eek. Rushed home and booked a growth scan with Fetal Med Cen. Better safe than sorry. Reckon I could push out a 9lb-er, but anything bigger and I'd be in trouble. Mollie = 6lbs 12oz, Libby = 8lbs 7oz.

GTT results are negative. Hooray. But can't dive nose first into one of the kids easter eggs as urine test he did showed some sugar in my wee. Just have to be careful that I don't OD on sugar.

Had the most amazing preg massage yesterday. Feel like a new woman. Sciatica has def got better and hips don't feel as creaky.

Right, better clean the lunch detritus from the kitchen. Catch up with you all later. xxx

PS - Cricri I think the meet up was 20th June. No venue as yet. Think just trying to see who can come.

BellaHarry · 28/04/2009 15:45

Georgie glad the results were ok, so 33 cm and how many weeks are you? I was 25cm at last check and was 26+2 weeks?? Had a wobble at that...we're never happy eh! Quite lookign forward to that meet on 20th! Need to be around other baby focused people I'm boreing my friends to death!

CriCri yup half term soon!! woop! and of course 4 day week next week and the following week I'm only in for one period on the mon and fri because of Hospital apts!! Unfortunatly one is the dreading bloods (fainted last time).

Ei No news is definatly good news in this case I suppose! Hope doc clears up any niggles too!

Well I've just recieved a call from the Sutton therapy service asking to arrange a telephone assessment of my mental health...sceptical as I've been here, and further down the line before and seemed to slip between the cracks!! That was back when I was a hell of a lot worse too! I wonder how many suicides happen as a result of incompetencies like that! Anyway, we'll see.

piper84 · 28/04/2009 16:47

Sparkly any news for us lovely lady hope your scan went well xxx

piper84 · 28/04/2009 16:51

Georgie congrats on GTT results oh i wouod love an easter egg too

Bella fingers crossed that this time round they wont let you slip through any cracks, I'd say you are looking forward to half term

Cricri Big waves

Ei hope everything is ok with you xxx

2nd day running for me with no sickness

SparklyPseudonym · 28/04/2009 17:36

Hi ladies,
Everything fine at scan. Baby measuring 13+6 rather than 13+4(LMP) but I said I'd prefer to go with LMP and ovulation dates (13+4). Will upload some spook piccies later (really look like a little monster ). Feel quite relaxed atm and have hinted on FB status - BIG move. Catch up later xx

SmilingEi · 28/04/2009 18:51

sparkly excellent news on your scan

xx ei xx

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 28/04/2009 19:01

Oh Ei honey. If this is the start of what you think it might be then I'm so dreadfully sorry. I just can't believe that you're going through this again. of course, there's always a chance that it could be something else. Whatever happens, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we're all here for you. Don't you dare disappear on us. Lean on us as much or as little as you want. No excuses accepted. Thinking of you. Fingers crossed that you can get an appt with the hospital ASAP. XxX

SparklyPseudonym · 28/04/2009 19:39

Ei Please call EPU and ask them to see you. I really think you should have HcG monitored - not least because of all the BFPs and BFNs. You know where I am if you need to chat xxx

SparklyPseudonym · 28/04/2009 19:42

PS. Have just rethought HcG testing and remembered what Kate said about it...please just phone them and ask for advice xxx

BellaHarry · 28/04/2009 19:51

Ei I'm so sorry babe! Take the girls' advice and get youself down the EPU! And take care of yourself! xxx

Piper glad your sickness is getting better

teeheelaydee · 28/04/2009 19:55

Ei Am so sorry. I think Georgie sums it all up perfectly so won't add anymore but keep us updated as will be thinking of you.

FruitynNutty · 28/04/2009 20:46

Ei and I can't imagine what you're going through yet again. Thinking of you xxx

I've not kept up with all the posts as I've been frantically researching this boob thing but just wanted to add Sparkly I'm pleased everything went well for you. Very impressed with the big move
And BTW, I'd love to see you soon, C would love to see L too Are you coming to the meet up?

BellaHarry · 29/04/2009 10:51

Wow Sparkly it never fails to impress me how amazing the nuchal scan images are when compared to earlier scans! It's a proper little baby! Look at that cute profile!! Well done!

SparklyPseudonym · 29/04/2009 13:59

Ei Any news from you my lovely? You know where I am if you need to chat xxx
Fruity I STILL haven't posted J's pressies and it's 0-3 months which prob won't fit him anymore so I'll buy him something new and send it this week.

FruitynNutty · 29/04/2009 14:41

Sparkly Don't buy anything new! If you still want to send it he's only just in 0-3 months. I think you should save it for your little 'un though If you're superstitious then pretend to yourself it's for someone else

Ei I hope you're ok xxx

Well, I had a pointless time at the GP's this morning
She was hopeless. Didn't take me seriously at all. Said I should just supplement with formula. She said she can't prescribe Domperidone as it's not in her book to prescribe for milk supply problems. Then she started waffling on about contraception and I'm not breastfeeding exclusively! I really wanted to tell her to F-off. Stupid woman. I'm so pissed off, I came out wanting to burst into tears but I managed to hold it together
So, it looks like I either spend a fortune on herbal remedies or I just give up
I desperately don't want to give up but feeding takes up so much time. I give him my (lack of) milk for half an hour then it takes 20 minutes for him to finish a bottle.

I'm turning into a bitter woman again (after all the bitterness of conception) I can't even look at breastfeeding women, I want to strangle them
I really resent buying formula and every time I wash up/sterilise the bottles I want to throw them at the wall. WTF is wrong with me? I'm never happy am I.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 29/04/2009 18:47

Sparkly I forgot to say yesterday, hooray for another successful scan under your belt. Any chance that you'll calm downa bit now? I don't mean this in a patronising way. Honest. More in a, 'has it given you the confidence' to calm down type of way.

Ei Thinking of you chick. Any news? We're here whenever you need us. XxX.

Bella really hope you don't fall thru the cracks this time. Mental health is no laughing matter. We've both seen how bloody black life looks when you're dealing with depression. Just promise that you'll speak to someone if you even suspect that you're suffereing from PND. I'm 29+5, and GP measured me at 33cm. Had a COMPLETE wobble last night/this morning. But lovely g'friends talked me down from the ledge and told me that bump measurements so imprecise that they are laughable. My bump could stop growing for another couple of weeks and I could catch up IYSWIM. Anyway, am taking it all with a pinch of salt. What will be will be. No use twisting myself up in knots.

Fruity I'd ask to see another GP? She sounds completely unhelpful. I can't believe that women are beaten over the head about 'breast is best' and then when you ask for help, you're fobbed off with some lame excuse. Are there any medical studies/info that you can print off and take in re: domperidone? Or can your health visitor back you up? Nothing is wrong with you love. You're just trying to do what's best for your baby and not getting any help. You're frustrated and tired and pissed off. All normal emotions. Just try and be kind to yourself. You're doing an amazing thing - against all odds. That's got to be worth giving yourself a little pat on the back.

TeeHee Did you find a dress? Hows life with Noah? Still blissful I suspect .

Piper Great news about the sickness going. Let's hope it's the start of a lovely pg for you.

Mollie Where you gone young lady? I hope you're at least lurking. Come back. We miss you.

Cricri I spoke too soon about the house. Found out yesterday that the architect has issued the builder with wrong set of plans. . Not drastic difference, but our feature window in master bedroom might not be such a 'feature' now. Sigh.

Scully Long time no hear from. All OK with you?

I'm itching to nest. I just want to be in my own house, with all the boxes unpacked, Tedwood's stuff sorted out and everything net and tidy. I actually bleached the outside of my freezer today because it looked a bit dirty. . I know, I know. I'm mad. I'm the REAL Monica Geller .I'm having to make do with writing loads of lists to make me feel more organised. Anyone want some cleaning done? . xxx
