Hi Ladies,

Well I thought it was time I came back to Mumsnet after have a wee break from chatting about my journey TTC.

Still no happy ending for DP and I. We are now heading into out 10th month of TTC. I am switching my monitor back on in the hope I get a little bit of luck. Although I am too late this month as I dont have the sticks.

DP has just started taking Zinc and I am now taking Folic Acid, in the hope that this makes a difference to us.

My journey has been filled with various emotions i.e. happy/sad/confused/angry/frustrated/beaten etc etc, the list actually goes on! haha.

We have seeked advice from my GP who has suggested waiting until January - if nothing happens before then we will be put through fertility checks and take it from there!

Rant over - sorry!

How are u all doing?

monkeybumsmum · 04/10/2009 18:21

Babyhopes Hooray!!!! Well done! Just the kind of news we like to hear Let's hope that this time it all goes smoothly for you. As Vikks said, did you do anything differently this month? Did you think you were pg - any symptoms at all? Take things easy and let us know how you get on at the doctors x

NewMember Hello and welcome back... It does become very difficult over time when things don't happen, but try not to be disheartened. That's great that your GP is being supportive and come January at least something will be done. Let's hope you don't need it by then I find that my emotions change according to the time of the month - thoroughly depressed at the arrival of AF, then increasingly brighter, reaching hopefulness around ovulation. Next comes reality checks mixed with more hopefulness, only to be completely floored at the end of the cycle. It's just sh*t isn't it. We'll get there in the end - you have to stay positive if you can x

Vikks Thanks so much for telling me about your laps - it doesn't sound too nice. I wonder why my doctor said take three weeks off? They said that they would fill me with gas and that's what would be giving me pain/discomfort for weeks after. Think maybe they do things differently over here Can I ask what ovarian drilling is? It sounds horrendous! Were you given any advice after the laps, like when you could start trying again? I've heard they make you more fertile, or maybe I'm thinking of something else?
I think I shall be buying some of those cup things too - was it easy to erm...get it in if you don't mind me asking? (I really am blushing now ) Which website did you get them from?

Must go as need to clear up disaster of a kitchen after having guests Hope you've all had a lovely weekend and hi to everyone I haven't mentioned

monkeybumsmum · 04/10/2009 18:24

Oooh Shmoo, forgot to say, yes I think you do have to take baby aspirin for that - I have some in the cupboard just in case! They're re-checking my levels to see what to do.
Congrats for being in the 2ww - here's hoping this is our last one, but for all the right reasons!

NewMember · 04/10/2009 19:10

Thank you monkeybumsmum that really does help. AF is not long away so I am probably just still emotional from that. I shall pick myself back up. Think I will BD every other night this month (if i have the energy) and see what happens!

Take care and enjoy x factor! x

Shmoo75 · 05/10/2009 13:39

Newmember I know how you feel. I have been TTC my 1st since April 2008! Have had 2 pregnancies which have both ended in m/c's just before I hit 8wks I am currently on my 6th cycle since my 2nd m/c and, this is the 1st time I have used a CBFM. Me and my OH did the every other night until I got my 1st High then tried for every night until my next Low. FX for you hun. Are you waiting for AF to arrive or to leave?
Monkeybumsmum glad to hear they are re-checking your levels as you were borderline. Have my FX for you hun

Got my 2nd Low after my Peaks this morning so, no more testing until 16/10 when I will use a HPT as long as AF doesn't show her face that is.

NewMember · 05/10/2009 20:20

Hi Shmoo

AF is not long away so it will be time to BD before I know it! Just hoping for a miracle this month

cyncan · 06/10/2009 00:43

Newmember!!! Welcome back!! As you can see I am still here! This is my fourth month TTC... hopefully the one... I hope the monitor helps you out this month too!! Remember to stay calm and patient!!!! It will work!
xoxo

barrenbrook · 06/10/2009 13:42

Morning ladies!

babyhopes2 Awesome news, yey! big congratulations! Have everything crossed for you that all works out well and it's a sticky bean in the right place. I agree with the others though, we need details!!!

Vikks Ovarian drilling!!!! Oh my goodness, that sounds horrendous! I hope it's not as painful as it sounds
Hope the softcups do the trick!

Schmoo thanks for banning AF, I shall be eternally grateful to you if she listens!

Hello to everyone else barrenbrook waves frantically to everyone else in room

I think we need to start the list up again, what do you think? I've cut and pasted the old one, I think everyone's on there, if you can just fill in your stats ladies so it's up to date. Apologies if I've missed anyone off, I am a clutz so it's more than likely I have!!

Ooh gosh - should I have put Cycle 2 as it's only the second month using the CBFM?

Hello all xxx

Vikks · 06/10/2009 22:00

Monkeybumsmum ? To answer your questions?..
Ovarian Drilling/Diathermy is an operation which damages your ovaries into working again! Sounds mad but it?s true. They drill holes into your ovaries and it?s supposed to encourage them to start working again normally. It?s given to women who don?t respond well on ovulation drugs like Clomid.
Don?t worry too much about the gas they use in the op, it?s just feels like you?ve done a session at the gym and it goes after a day of two. As for when the BDing can resume, my Doc just told me whenever I felt up to it.
The ?Cups? are Instead Softcups. Google them, loads of places sell them online. I?ve not seen them in any shops yet. They are really easy to use (especially after BDing ) you just squeeze it together.
Hope I?ve covered everything!

NewMember - Welcome back. Dust off that CBFM, this could be your month!

Barrenbrook - Good call on the list, it?s been too long.

And me today???CD21 and still no peak! I don?t think it?s gonna happen this month, although I did get a postive OPK when the montior just said ?high?. What do you think? Had bloods again today and the all important Doc?s appointment is 2 weeks today (that?s D Day in my treatment plan).

Hi ladies, hope you are all ok and in good spirits.

In answer to your questions "did I do anything different this month" Not at all just made sure dh was doing his job ha ha.

I didn't really have any pregnancy symptoms either. I felt a bit sick once and had a bit of back ache but that was about it. My only sign was AF not arriving as usual - I always have a 12 day luteal phase.

Anyway - been hospital for checks and got my results today. I am 5 weeks today and my hcg levels are normal for such an early pregnancy I have to go back to hospital Wednesday for a scan due to my history, but consultant thinks this one is not an ectopic. I am feeling so happy today, such a huge weight of my mind. I'm not getting to excited yet though!!

xxx baby dust to all xxxx

barrenbrook · 08/10/2009 11:16

Babyhopes2 Glad to hear all went well at the scan and everything is showing as normal for you so far. Don't blame you for not getting excited just yet, I can imagine I will be the same and I've only had one MC. Keep us posted! Have everything crossed for a sticky one for you

Bubbalewy Hope you're feeling a little less pissed off fed up today. Good news that you have your gynae appt through, not long to wait

Medee · 09/10/2009 22:22

hi ladies, was recommended to come here to find out more about CBFM. My cycle is currently 40-42 days which is on the limit of suitability for it - does anyone else have such a long cycle, and how have you found it?

Vikks · 09/10/2009 22:37

Hi Everyone,
Well CD24 and still no peak! I think I?ll write this month off. Although my temperature hasn?t risen yet, maybe there?s the smallest chance. I?m signing off for a week now DH and me are taking a holiday, I hope I?ve got some good news to read about when I get back. Good luck!
Baby Dust

monkeybumsmum · 10/10/2009 11:33

Morning all

Babyhopes what great news! You must be relieved to have normal hCG levels at this stage, it's a really good sign. Good luck on Wednesday - make sure you report back!

Vikks Ooh ow! That's still sounds pretty horrific... Poor you! Thanks for info re softcups, shall go and get some now!

Medee Hello! My cycle was up to 42 days before I started with the CBFM - I was really worried that the first time I used it, the sticks wouldn't get me to ovulation. Think the maximum number of sticks you can use is 20 per cycle. It does say on the box that it's for cycles up to 42 days so you should be fine to use it. I think it's a fantastic thing, and for me it's taken all the guesswork out of ttc. I feel much less stressed about it, and just have to worry about whether it's worked now, rather than thinking I'd missed my window of opportunity and getting really worked up. Good luck!

Right girls, I was going to do a long post, but unfortunately period pains kicked in a little while ago, and am now almost doubled up. Actual AF started v slowly on Wed night - another 10 day luteal phase for me Hope you're all okay and have a good weekend...

monkeybumsmum · 10/10/2009 11:33

ps Vikks have a fab holiday x

Amberc · 12/10/2009 12:31

May I join your thread? I'm on month 8 now but only two using the CBFM. The rest of the months I had a nightmare with madly irregular periods due to thyroid problems (hence the monitor as no way of doing temps!). Just had my fertile days so now (again) time to sit and wait. I am getting fed up now to be honest. I am 36 and TTC no 2. Conceived no 1 in one shag so thought it would be that easy to conceive no 2 - clearly not. Anyway - nice to see successes in the list above. Fingers crossed for everyone! PS funny how everyone keeps telling me not to use the monitor - why is that?
