Please don't be offended if you're not named, you're still welcome, I just have a rubbish memory. I can see a couple of you on November thread but there's a whole load of people not there. Just wondering if you wanted a little thread to keep in touch?

Headfairy - just replied to you on grapefruit thread. So sorry about your sad news. Was hoping a new thread might provide you with support from old friends.

And Sunnydale, I know you're wary of new threads, so though you might also like the company of old friends.

Wishing and Bubble having your weird long cycles and missing whole month's threads, thought this might be one for you too.

So what do you say? I'll start a list just in case:

Issy, ttc#1, cycle 14, ucl 28ish, cd 23/10dpo, mc Mar08, cp Sep08, IVF in April.

oooh, forgot to say watched ER double bill and had lump in my throat seeing John Carter, Doug Ross, Carol Hathaway and Pete Benton back on screen, going to dig out my old Series 2 box-set me thinks .

Head - hope your bearing up and not going too stir crazy waiting for next week. This is so the hardest time - aargh!

Well I'm off to bed, DH has taken DS to his Mum's so I can lie down as I'm dog tired (woof!).

Issy42 · 10/05/2009 14:46

Thanks Blue, I'm loving this series of ER, but then I always like it. Hope you had a good afternoon nap.

My temp was down this morning so going out of my mind. Did another test and still BFP. Totally confused. Feeling very deja-vu as I had pretty much the same temperature last time I tested positive but then got AF next day. It's about half way between yesterday's temp and my coverline and it is my usually sign that I'll have an even lower temp and AF next day. Just really, really hoping it isn't this time.

Hope you have more reassurance Head.

Oh issy how confusing, keeping everything crossed for you!!! sooo happy for you of the BFP's though!!

I have had a confusing few days as well... had EWCM on friday so did an opk, neg, then still had EWCM on Sat so did another one, and this time pos. However I am not due to ov for another 10 days really! the only thing i did differently this cycle was take Evening primrose oil. This will mean I have snapped back to my pre MC cycle length of around 32... which is great, but not great timing as I am about to go on hols with my entire family... oh well DP will just have to get over his catholic guilt and perform anyway .
Won't be able to come on MN next week... so hope everyone stays well, bubble sorry Dr's didn't really help, hope you get some answers with the next set of tests!
head hope you're doing ok? issy hope you realise how hard this was to type with my fingers crossed, but I am not uncrossing them until you get the all clear!

Sunnydale · 10/05/2009 17:33

Issy sorry to be dense, but what is it with temping anyway - is it important / reliable as an indicator of anything? I did it one month and my temps made no sense at all. Am assuming that if your temps went down this morning, it's a bad sign - but why? Does temp rise if pg? Does it stay the same? If temp rises after ov does it mean you're pg, or can it mean nothing at all? You are always so good at explaining things on here, which is why I'm asking. Maybe your temp just dropped because you were cold this morning? Or is that a stupid thing to say? It sounds like you can be pg then not pg again, and I didn't realise it worked that way. I thought a BFP was a BFP. Well, unless a MC occurs. But can it be classed a MC if you get a BFP then AF arrives on time, or is that called something else? I wish I was a doctor sometimes. Good luck Issy, stay calm, put your feet up, it will all be fine fine fine I'm sure. Am thinking of you and sending hugs () ()

Issy42 · 10/05/2009 19:26

Sunny - With temping you have to be quite strict about taking your temperature as soon as you wake up and ideally at the same time each morning (though I've never worried too much about that bit) and after at least 3 hours unbroken sleep. When you have AF your temps will be low and then the day after ov they rise and stay high until a day or two before AF arrives. Sometimes pg women get an even higher rise about 7/8 dpo at implantation which stays higher, but others get a one-off dip at that time. Like most ttc things it's not foolproof but works for a lot of women. For example, for me pre ov my temp will be below about 36.05 and day after ov rise to about 36.2, then go to 36.4/36.5ish until day before AF when tends to drop to 36.3/36.2, then day of AF goes back to around 36.0. Yesterday my temp was 36.53 but today it's only 36.37 and I took it an hour later today so if anything should have been higher, which is why I'm worried. I am of course hoping that it's just something stupid like I had one arm out of the bed covers until just before I woke up, but I guess I'll find out tomorrow. The scan not seeing anything and measuring such a thin womb lining hasn't helped though.

A BFP is a BFP, but a lot of women miscarry very early which is why you can get a BFP if you test early then have AF on time, as happened to me in October. Some people call this a chemical pregnancy, but I personally hate that term as it makes it sound like a phantom pregnancy when it is in fact just a very, very early miscarriage.

A couple of people have now told me that they've had dips when pg, so hope that's all it is for me, just wish it hadn't been today as it is a very typical 13dpo with AF arriving on 14dpo temp for me.

Girl - thanks for the fingers-crossed typing. It's going to a difficult holiday for you if you're going to keep them crossed for a whole week . Great that your cycle is getting back to normal and DP will just have to learn to be quiet .

OP posts:
Bubblebell1 · 11/05/2009 07:50

Morning everyone

Issy how are you? has your temp dropped any further?

Head how are you feeling?.. i hope you havnt gone crazy with worry.

girl have a great holiday. thats brilliant that your cycles have shortened themselves. i hope your dp can keep quiet so you can manage it over your fertile time

blue i hope your not so sick or tired today. This first part is awful isnt it.

sunny how are you?

HeadFairy · 11/05/2009 08:59

Hi everyone....

Issy congratulations on the bfp!!! That's such amazing news. I hope all the confusing temp dips and changes mean nothing and that you get a good result on Wednesday. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for you (I'm quite good at typing with fingers crossed as I've been doing quite a bit of it of late )

Bubble That's good news about your doc doing more tests and talking about clomid. It's nice to have someone who takes you seriously and I know lots of people who've had a baby through clomid.

girl glad you got a pos on your opk.... sounds like the evening primrose oil has done wonders for your cycle. DH is the king of the silent shag having lived in a small 2 bed flat with his mum for years so we never worry about doing it when we've got company (not that they're in the room, holding up score cards ) I hope your dh gets over his Catholic guilt... it's what God would have wanted

Blue I hope you're not feeling too rough or tired. I can't tell if I'm suffering the normal exhaustion from having a toddler and working shifts, or if it's pregnancy but I have had terrible nausea and massive appetite. I'm really having to try and control it because I put on four stone when I was pg with ds. But right now all I want to do is eat heaps of hot steaming buttery toast

sunnydale I hope af has stayed away.

Hello to everyone else... I hope you're all well. I'm finally past 7 weeks, one more week and I'm having my scan to see what's going on. Still trying not to think too much about it, but it's hard with this ridiculous hunger. Trying to keep busy... ds is at the childminder today and I'm off so I'm going to do loads of things he hates, like housework and shopping. I have an urge to get my hands down the loo, it's disgusting and really needs a good scrub. I'm very sad but I quite like cleaning

Have a loverly day everyone, keep happy xxx

irishmumwannabe · 11/05/2009 12:00

Good Morning Ladies ? I?ve been out of commission for the past week (seems like ages) with work and then having people over at home etc.
I?ve spent ages reading your posts and have even taken notes so I can make sure I miss nothing (yes I am a nerd and I?m sure I?ll have missed something anyway. )

Head your holidays sounded blissful and I?m glad you all had such a nice time. I love Italian food so am very jealous of you having all that pasta! LOL at you scrubbing the loo ? I?m not a clean freak but when I get it in my head that I need to clean I can spend the whole day at it.
JJF congratulations on the house news. That?s brilliant and it will keep your mind off the scan.
Girl that was good news about the tests for you ? here?s hoping your DH comes through his with equally flying colours. Had to laugh at the Catholic guilt ? in my house it?s me that has the catholic guilt and can never do it if my parents are there. Thankfully they only live around the corner so won?t be having them to stay any time soon. Hope you enjoy (enjoyed) your holiday.
(BTW this crossed fingered typing lark is quite tough? must practise more)
Bubble that?s good that your doctor is going to start you on Clomid. I?ve heard good things about it from various other MN threads. Hope all goes well for you.
Issy OMG that is brilliant news for you with the BFP . I hope that your temp dips are just weird anomalies and that you have the best results possible on Wednesday. I?m on tenterhooks for you as you have gone through so much and possibly giving myself arthritis with this crossed fingered typing for your cause. I really am hoping everything goes well for you.
Sunny hope that AF stays away for you.

Sif, Wishing et al, hope you are all keeping well.

No news here ? it?s day 11 so I have been pestering DH all weekend (not that he minds ) but still no +ive on the opks. My temps are all over the place ? I wake at 5:30 a.m. during the week but not until nearer 8 at the weekend so think that may be why ? I had a surge on Sat and Sun but then back down today which I am sure shouldn?t happen. Ah well we?ll see. It?s not going to be for want of trying this month. DH is off on study leave for the next 2 weeks so he won?t be staying in work late or have a valid excuse for tiredness. I?ve turned into a drill sergeant (only for about 10 days then I?ll calm down again!)

Anyway I?d better get back to the coalface ? I?ll be better this week and will check in every day (or every other day at least)

Sunnydale · 11/05/2009 13:40

Hello all,
Issy, many thanks for explaining temps in your own inimitable way. Blimey, though - it all sounds a bit nebulous for my liking. I've been temping these last two weeks and they're all over the place: 36.7, 36.9 and all the way up to 37 this morning (if a 0.1 can be classed as "all the way up"??) I hope yours was better news this morning - how are you feeling today? Sending you hugs () ().
Headfairy, not long to go now! I have all things crossed for you. Eat, drink and be merry - go with what your tummy is telling you. The bean obviously wants toast!
Bubble keep us posted on the clomid - when will you start taking it? (sorry, I think you've already told us you have to wait a bit, but I can't find where). It's my next step too, but I was told to hold off until August as the doc thinks I'm ovulating fine and that it just might take a while to get pg. Yeah, like forever!
Girl, have a lovely hols - who know what might happen eh! I conceived my dd on hols (though admittedly not with family). But it's amazing what a difference being relaxed can make.
Irish good luck with all the BD'ing. It can get a bit knackering, can't it. But in a good way!
I'm feeling rubbish today (CD26) as I hate the bit where AF is due but you still hold on to that stupid hope that you might be pg, even though you have no symptoms whatsoever. Am just trying to keep busy. Like a bee...

Issy42 · 11/05/2009 13:58

Very quick post from me as people can see over my shoulder since the office move around and I'm out tonight. Thanks for all the good wishes and crossed fingers. Temp down again today to 36.10. Very scary, but still BFP today, so we'll just see what tomorrow brings.

Catch up with you all later.

OP posts:
Bubblebell1 · 11/05/2009 14:38

fingers crossed issy that your beans stick

Sunny i have to wait til next cycle to have a day 21 test again. then they will refer me and may give me clomid... I am goin to see the gp that knows about fertility on thurs as my gp didnt seem to know that much.
fingers crossed your af stays away and a bfp is just around the corner.

Bubblebell1 · 12/05/2009 15:39

Hi girls,

How are you all?

Issy42 · 12/05/2009 18:28

Hi Bubble . If your next cycle takes a long time they maybe able to give you something to start your period. Worth asking.
Head - Terrible nausea - some say that means a girl. Have you gone to the Chinese chart thingie thread? Good luck with the scan next week. Oh and if you run out of things to clean, you're welcome at my house .
Irish - I take notes too. I used to always get a higher temp after weekend lie-ins too, so I generally just ignored my weekend temps. Enjoy the bd'ing.
Sunny - are you using a BBT thermometer and keeping it within reach so you take your temp without getting up? Hope AF stays away for you.

This cross finger typing really is hard!

My temp was up today to 36.54 which is well above my 36.4 panic line. The thermometer has now been put away as quite a few people have told me they had low temps when pg. Friday is my OTD (official test date) but they did say I could test 2 days either side so am going to test tomorrow as I want to have an officially recognised BFP asap - let's just hope I get one (eek!).

Hi everyone else, hope you're well.

OP posts:
Sunnydale · 12/05/2009 21:48

Hello all
Issy, sl glad you've still got your BFP despite strange temps. Long may it stick!
Yup, I have BBT by bedside, and stick it in my... mouth! first thing, circa 6am every day, before I've wee'd or drunk any water. It's still up and down like a yo-yo. 37 yesterday, 36.95 today... who knows what tomorrow will bring! AF could come any time from tomorrow, but I'm so not testing - don't even have any tests in the house. I used to test as soon as I was late (before, even) but happily MN, and especially you and Headfairy, have made me realise that there's no point in testing early, but better to wait until AF is at least late so that it's a good, honest reading.
If it's of any interest to anyone, my DH got his sperm tested this morning (yup, I know that bit isn't of any interest, but bear with me!) and they told him he shouldn't have BDd for 2-3 days before the test, so that the volume and quality of swimmers was good. Which just goes to show how pointless it is to BD every night when ttc! Our doctor said every 3 nights is absolutely adequate, and any more frequently can decrease quality. What does anyone else think of this? Interested to know (Sunnydale vainly tries to keep the thread going before everyone defects onto other, more scintillating, antenatal threads)

Issy42 · 12/05/2009 22:02

Thanks Sunny. Some men's sperm only survives for 2 days in the fallopian tubes (although recent research has shown can be up to 10 according to a colleague of my friend who's a nurse) so I would have thought bd'ing every other day was probably best.

No idea how I've convinced you not to test early other than by being a bad example. I actually don't agree with testing late (for myself, obviously it's personal choice) though as if you are unfortunate enough to mc they will only investigate after 3, so I do think it's better to test on day period is due so that if the worst were to happen it would be counted as an mc. Not a nice thing to think about but I'm ever practical. It's why I'm testing again tomorrow and not waiting until Friday.

Oh and I'm not joining an ante-natal thread for a long while if ever. Finally, if temping orally doesn't work for you, you can try vaginally according to FF.com - I'll leave you with that thought.

Morning girls!

issy did you get another BFP?

head,blue,jumping* how are you feeling?

Irish girl how are you both?

sunny i ordered taking charge of your fertility the other day and it arrived yesterday so i sat and read it cover to cover. it says having sex every 3/2 days is helpfull if you have a low sperm count but if you dont them you can do it as much as you like.

Im going to take it with me to the drs tomorro. Hopefully i will get some answers.

Still no AF and i am in so much pain. its radiating from my pelvic area down the tops of my thighs and into my back. it hasnt been this bad since Dec and im really worried. Im hoping it means that AF will be here soon but who knows

irishmumwannabe · 13/05/2009 08:39

Hello to everyone - just a quick one as have major work to get done today

Issy am so nervous/excited for you as really want you to have a BFP now! don't think I can wait to find out - good luck with the testing. (What am I like? )

hello to everyone else - hope everyone is keeping well -

Am working tonight so away from DH but hhopefully have bd'd enough since the weekend to keep me going until I go home tomorrow night (if I get home depends on this project)
Ttyl

Issy42 · 13/05/2009 09:42

Bubble - If you're in pain then maybe you should go to A&E - don't want to scare you but could be ectopic, do you have shoulder pain?

Irish - Good luck getting home tomorrow.

I have a BFP - I'm now officially pg and have my viability scan on 3rd June.

For now just want to get to 5w on Monday as previous mc was at 4w6d.

Best get to work now.

JumpingJellyfish · 13/05/2009 10:39

sorry have only got a chance to post briefly- I am so so pleased to read your news issy- will keep everything crossed that you meet each milestone!

Bubble sorry to hear they found you didn't ov last cycle. Glad they are doing more testing though- I'm sure I read somewhere it's quite normal for all of us to have the occassional anovulatory cycle, so hoping it was just a blip.

All ok here, 10 weeks now...Got official booking apt with hospital midwives tomorrow. A bit annoyed as was down for the dating scan 3 weeks ago and thought it could have all been done then (hospital is 1.5hrs away), and I find it quite hard sitting in a clinic full of heavily pregnant women while I'm still waiting for the CVS and all its implications...Not too long to wait now I guess.

Gotta run- love & baby dust to you all xx

Bubblebell1 · 13/05/2009 13:50

congratulation issy

im so so pleased for you. im joining in with the fingers crossed typing. :0

im sure its nothing like that issy i didnt even ovulate so cant be up the duff. i still temp and have not had a temp rise. I had bad pain like this in dec and they couldnt find a cause.

10 wks its gone fast jumping im sure it hasnt felt like that for you. wishing u luck for your scan xxx

irishmumwannabe · 13/05/2009 14:09

Hi all
Issy that is brilliant - I've got this funny image of people all over these two islands crossing their fingers as they type - - I must admit I am a very "a la carte" catholic but found myself sending a little prayer up for you sat here at my desk.

Bubble that pain sounds horrible I hope you are ok and get it checked out soon.

Jumping and Head good luck with the scans. Hope you get to hear what you want to and Jumping I hope it's not too hard to ebar with all those other expectant mammies.

Sunny, girl, blue how are things with you - must head off nwo just came on to see if Issy had reported back.

JumpingJellyfish · 13/05/2009 14:54

Unfortunately the CVS isn't a scan, but a big fat needle through my tummy into the placenta (quite like an amnio)- but they will be scanning to check where it's going! Not going to think any more about the graphic details, I keep reading that it's more uncomfortable than sore. Hmm. Still a couple of weeks to wait yet....

irish keeping fingers crossed for you!

Bubble so annoyed for you that you are going through what happened in Dec again. Really hope you get some answers soon. Big hugs to you

Good luck Head with your forthcoming scan, will be thinking of you.

bluesatinsash · 13/05/2009 15:15

oh Issy - I'm so so very pleased for you . One milestone down, blardy hunderds to go .

Jumping - have read all about CVS and amnio and docs are so slick at doing them these days. Anyone I know who has had one definately say its more uncomfortable than sore. Not long now to wait (why does pg time slow down its sooo unfair!)

Irish - love your a la carte catholic status .

bubble - how are you feeling now?

Sunny - hoping TEW has lost your address.

girl - hope your hols are going well and you've having lots of silent shagging .

Head - hope you still feel rotten! I retired to bed at 8pm with my 'managing ms' book and ice cold water. Just threw up there in office loo - classy. Will be thinking of you next week and hope its here before you know it.

Bubblebell1 · 13/05/2009 17:28

sorry junping i just thought it was a scan for some reason. Will you get a 12 wk scan aswell?

pain isnt as bad atm. im hoping it eases up. DH is away with work tomorro so dont know how i will manage if it starts again like before.
Im supposed to have a drs app tomorro and i could really do with going to ask about these pains aswell as the scan last month and discuss further treatment but my sister is poorly so cant look after the boys. I cant take them with me ds2 is a devil and i wouldnt be able to concentrate. hopefully she will feel better tomorrow. Cant wait til the 23rd! looking forward to my week in devon
