Please don't be offended if you're not named, you're still welcome, I just have a rubbish memory. I can see a couple of you on November thread but there's a whole load of people not there. Just wondering if you wanted a little thread to keep in touch?

Headfairy - just replied to you on grapefruit thread. So sorry about your sad news. Was hoping a new thread might provide you with support from old friends.

And Sunnydale, I know you're wary of new threads, so though you might also like the company of old friends.

Wishing and Bubble having your weird long cycles and missing whole month's threads, thought this might be one for you too.

So what do you say? I'll start a list just in case:

Issy, ttc#1, cycle 14, ucl 28ish, cd 23/10dpo, mc Mar08, cp Sep08, IVF in April.

x post Gateau

don't worry about it, I'm ignoring my cycle, I can obssess about other's cycles, that's allowed in my plan

bubblebell1 · 10/02/2009 09:48

Hi gateau

dont worry... im not ignoring my cycle... its ignoring me

i will def be keeping track of mine once she sorts herself out.. i have my fingers crossed that your brown discharge is not the first signs of AF and that you get a BFP instead..

my sis is not bringing her ds til 10.30 so i have a lil time to prepare myself

Twiglettini · 10/02/2009 10:00

Hello all, can I join you in ignoring my cycle. I met Headfairy and Sunningdale on a spectacularly unsuccessful thread that I started about grapefruit juice and I really like the idea of trying to be a bit calmer about the whole ttc thing. (The idea is good, the practice is maybe not possible).

Anyway, Gateau, sorry to hear about your 2 mc, looks like you, HF and me have all had 2 mc back to back - miserable isn't it. But I like HF rules further up thread and also think that at some point we have to spew out a good egg. So maybe some of us will get lucky soon.

By the way my DH works in a medical type environment and read recently that most mc are actually caused by dodgy sperm, not dodgy eggs!! so everytime I have a mc, he has apologised for his defective swimmers!

Right, Sorry, this is not in the spirit of the thread, will try to talk about non-ttc stsuff next time.

Good luck with your 2 little people, Bubble, how lovely to live near your sister and have children the same age.

Hi Issy, I think you put in an appearance on the grapefruit thead - hope it is ok to gatecrash this one

HeadFairy · 10/02/2009 10:04

Ooooh twiglettini, having a dh who works in a medical environment would be deadly for me, I'd be constantly digging for information, any teeeny bit that might help me get pg sooner Actually the sperm thing sounds about right for my last mc. I had a terrible cold over Christmas and we only managed on half hearted shag on Christmas day, that was all we'd done that month so it was probably a wonky old sperm that had been hanging around for ages that fertilised my perfectly good egg!

We always try to have a couple of bd's before ov time now to flush out the ancient swimmers

bubblebell1 · 10/02/2009 10:10

Hi twiglet so sorry to hear of your losses i can only imagine how devastating it is.. especially when you are trying so hard to get pregnant.

hopefully we can all help each other not obsess about ttc, altho its easier said than done..

im trying to diet.. but as soon as i say to myself that i am starting a diet i want more food, everything sounds delicious and im constantly ravenous... why is that?? i dont want to join a slimming club.. i refuse to pay to be told im fat. i would love to just do it myself.. do you think ds2 and nico (my nephew) would like to join in with davinas workout???

Twiglettini · 10/02/2009 13:33

Thanks for kind words, Bubble. Abstaining from anything is terrible - saying to myself I can't have something just makes me want it more - very good luck with losing weight and I'm sure the boys would love to dance around to Davina.

Headfairy - love the idea of sperms with zimmers and am impressed at the 'pre-ov flushing out the dodgy ones shag' (sorry, BD). We're both so tired (or ill) at the mo that we're struggling to get it together for ov, let alone any other time.

Anyone else on this thread got an opinion on grapefruit juice (shameless plug for exciting scientific-type thread over here)

girlwithacurl · 10/02/2009 13:35

i wish my DP knew about the sperm more likley to be dodgy, I have cut massivly back on drinking (going from one glass a day to one a week) only one cup of tea a day and genarally trying to eat better and excersise more, however he still cycles 20 miles a day, and has a beer every evening. He refuses to believe that it could be down to him. While his sperm could be perfection I am trying to do everything I can to give us the best chance and feel that he isn't doing the same.
Winge over!

bubble definitly get the kids involved, not sure they will be up for Davina, but sure you can think of some game to play which gets you runnign around, or go swimming or something!

at MrHF swimmers with zimmerframes, my DP's are probably drunk, or too busy watching the footie.

yellowflowers · 10/02/2009 13:56

Hi,

Some of us are over here and we are happy to welcome new people/people who left us and want to come back...

thread

xx

bluesatinsash · 10/02/2009 14:34

Hi Izzy and others! Can I park up? I was on ttc Aug baby but had 2nd mmc before xmas (ERPC on NY Day - lovely, not).

DH and me were initally taking 6-month break but following meeting with consultant we have decided to go for it and I had a +OPK on Sunday so DH and me I retired to bed for the afternoon (DS was at grannies as we had been out the night before).

BUT I am steadfastly refusing to join any ttc or ante-natal threads this time around. The thought of having to bow out of a third ante-natal thread in a year is just too . Like Headfairy I'm not even telling parents if we do fall pg as they will just worry and I'll be worrying enough all by myself thanks very much!

Need to dash now as DS has woken up but will check back later for full catch up.

HeadFairy · 10/02/2009 14:44

Hi bluesatin... come in, the water's great

I haven't even told my mum and dad about my last mc... told my sister but she asked why I was off work for so long (had a week's leave then a week off sick, mc happened during my week of leave, typical!) but I have sworn her to secrecy. No real reason other than a)she has a gob the size of the Mersey tunnel on her - she told my cm last time and I was and b) it's part of my whole not getting worked up strategy. It happened, can't change it, look to the future.

Anyway good luck on the 2ww

bubblebell1 · 10/02/2009 15:42

Hi yellow and bluesatin sorry to hear about your losses

Sorry to be a pain. i know some of you dont want to obsess about ttc but i have a question about opks. does the whole line have to be darker than the control line or can just 1 side of it?

HeadFairy · 10/02/2009 16:08

Bubble, sorry if I made you think you couldn't talk about ttc..

I'm not sure about opk's myself, I've used a few, I've got some digi ones now so no lines to squint at, have you checked peeonastick.co.uk? They might have details of ov sticks as well as HPTs.

bubblebell1 · 10/02/2009 16:21

dont be sad head i just didnt want to be insensitive to all you lovely ladies and at the same time bathe in your fountain of knowledge

i havnt used opks for a wk or so as i had ran out but parcel arrived this morn so i couldnt resist. im not reading into it as i have had dark lines on days 10 and 11, 24 and 25 and now 37!

HeadFairy · 10/02/2009 16:37

Oh good, didn't want you to think any subjects off limits.

As I said I don't know much about them, but as your cycles are a bit all over the place perhaps the opk's are giving funny readings. If you're due some bloods soon they might perhaps give you a better idea as to what's happening. Sorry if that's a bit lame esp if you're raring to get going. Perhaps there are some hormonal fluctuations the blood tests will reveal.

girlwithacurl · 10/02/2009 16:41

bubble i got sooo fed up with trying to decipher the OPK's that I now go for digital, its much more comforting, and someone told me you can use the (cheaper) persona sticks in the clearblue digital thing... Can't help with the problem you have, but check out the website head suggests!
I think it is possible to have more than one surg in a cycle though, where your bidy gears up for ovulation, then for one reason or another doesn't bother, but its weird that you have had several. I know they are expensive but I would give the digital ones a go.

You could be on the 2ww though and getting a positive as its picking up something else... just a thought!

bubblebell1 · 10/02/2009 16:46

thanks head, im not really sure why i am doing the opks.. advice is not to use them if your irregular. i just want AF to come and then arrive on time every month after releasing an egg until i get pg!! HAHA (not asking for too much am i?)

HeadFairy · 10/02/2009 18:05

nah bubble, you're just asking for your body to behave as it's supposed to, perfectly reasonable in my book!

bubblebell1 · 10/02/2009 18:48

well.... there goes my diet.. just eaten a bag of mini eggs and some strawberry laces . my sister came and got my nephew and i just couldnt resist.

head how was your child free day?

HeadFairy · 10/02/2009 19:44

Ooh I'm of the mini eggs. Yum! I'm just tucking in to my glass of grapefruit juice (bleurgh!)

My childfree day was rather nice. I washed and dried two loads of washing (not nice I realise, but necessary) and had 6 estate agents come round - all at the same time! The house is going on the market next week so they were all coming to have a look around. Then I went to the supermarket, which was a revelation, I got round in seconds without having to pick things up that ds has pulled out of the trolley and thrown on the floor! When I got home I sat on the sofa and watched old episodes of Desperate Housewives and had cups of tea. All in all, rather successful

How was it with your nephew and ds? Did they do the Davina work out with you?

bluesatinsash · 10/02/2009 22:03

ooh, I'm of the strawberry laces, not had them since the school tuck shop circa 1984!

Right, have caught up on all your posts and feel v. comfortable already

Wise words Headfairy re: 'next time'. I'm also refusing to visit Doctors to begin with. What do they do anyway really? I go straight to EPU for scans and panic phonecalls and you can self refer for your booking in too. Both my mc happened just at the start of a fortnight holiday which intially made me feel worse but actually made it easier to go back to work as all my sobbing was out of the way. No-one at work knew last time and it was such a releif although the 'Sooo, how was your xmas and NY?!' questions set my teeth on edge.

Don't know about not telling DH though, LOL at your 6-month conversation, remember you're second time around and you'll look 6 month pg when your only 12 weeks ha ha.

Issy - you go girl with your running. I'm a twice a week at the gym girl (if I'm lucky) but my Sat mornings are sacroscent and losing myself in my i-pod playlist does me the world of good in all this ttc pg mc nonsense. April will be with us before we know it.

Hey bluebell - (whisper)I am a OPK user and have used clearblue analogue, digital and tesco cheapies. The line on my +ve ones have been the same colour full length as control box. Someone recommended using cheapy sticks until you think you have a + then backing it up that day with digital as they are soo expensive.

re: dodgy sperm - we bd sunday morning with condom to try and as you say 'flush' any old stale sperm out the way - ah the romance of it all!

HeadFairy · 10/02/2009 22:27

Am naughty girl, I've just eaten a whole bowl of popcorn dusted with sugar and cinammon and drizzled with golden syrup. I will never get pg at this rate because I'll be far too fat!

Gateau · 11/02/2009 08:40

Morning ladies,
Well, I did another pg test this morning and it was positive. Not a glaring line, but it was definately there.
Am happy, but VERY cautiously happy, given I have had two, recent mcs in a row.
Will phone GP/EPU tomorrow when I'm off work to ask if there is ANYTHING I can take to try to prevent another mc. I will also ask for an early scan - IF I get to that stage.
As others on here have said, I'm not joining any antenatal threads until (fingers crossed!) everything is looking as if it's going well.
Welcome to all you new ladies and best of luck.

HeadFairy · 11/02/2009 09:05

OH wow Gateau, I KNEW you'd be the shortest member of the "ignoring our cycle" team!! Congratulations!!!!

I totally understand your caution, I hope the EPU give you some good advice and support. Try and relax and not think about it. Impossible I know but there was something I read on the miscarriage association website that said early care and support from an EPU to help keep a pregnant woman's mind at ease can really help at preventing further miscarriages if she's had them before.

Keep us posted on any advice/support/comments you get from the EPU!

bubblebell1 · 11/02/2009 09:08

LOL HF, Shamefully Davina didnt make it out of the box yesterday.... and i still ate all that crap
DS2 and nephew were really good. They are very close and love each other so much. They fell asleep on the sofa together watching Tikkabilla. >

Shopping is also a nightmare for me. I have started taking my nan when i go so i can keep DS2 in his pushchair and nan can push the trolley. Otherwise you get glared at when your child is screaming for whatever has taken their fancy.

Thanks blue, they cant be +ive then as there is no line today and yesterdays were only dark on 1 side of the line. DH said i could get a digital 1 but i just feel guilty spending all that money on it.

Today i am supposed to be helping my sister move house but DS1 has come down with Tonsilitus. DS2 has just shifted it so no doubt DH and myself will get it at some point.

Chickenpox is making its rounds at the mo. DS1 had it while i was preg with DS2. Do you think i should take DS2 to catch it. to like a chickenpox party??? All the mums at the school are doing it but i dont know if its a good thing or not.

How are you all??

Gateau · 11/02/2009 09:08

Thank you HF. Will do.
Actually, I do think I'll phone the lady there instead of my GP. Finger more on the pulse, I think!
