I'm here!
It'll be baby kicking/headbutting your cervix/bladder.
I get this now and had it towards the end of my preg with DS. Really stings! Tell him/her to cut it out!

BellaHarry · 03/02/2009 17:19

cheers babe! aaw it's cute now you say that.... I thought it might be because it happened today when the cat nearly threw itself off the stairs and made me (and baby so it seems) jump. Just been reading all the bf help on mn I'm so up for the challenge it's one of the main things I'm looking forward to, are you planning to?

FruitynNutty · 03/02/2009 17:27

I'm desperate to BF. For some reason couldn't build up enough milk for DS - never had let down or leaky boobs or anything
Felt let down by my bod ever since, especially as my body can barely manage to reproduce either

I will BF this time round if it bloody kills me!

BellaHarry · 03/02/2009 17:35

Good for you!!!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 03/02/2009 20:26

I'll help you two out with BF. Actually, let me re-phrase that, it sounds a bit weird . I'll answer any questions you have on BF! Between DD1 and the weird New York 'lactation consultant' (I kid you not) and DD2 literally sucking the life out of me, then I would hope I could offer some useful hints and tips.

Am STILL being sick. Ugh. Just thrown up lunch. But managed to keep down fish fingers and salad that I've just scoffed.

Bella DD2 was a completel minx and kept kicking me in the cervix. Bloody hurts so you have my sympathy.

Scully Wow, nice hand out from the govt. Although agree with you, maybe just a stalling technique.

Morning ladies

Court isn't sitting today for some reason, so I'm meant to be preparing for the hideous nightmare that is next week, but I'm feeling really sick (again) so I've brought some work up to bed, but now I appear to be mnetting... how did that happen?!?!

Georgie can't believe you're still throwing up! rubbish!! Do you feel really sick for ages beforehand or does it just sneak up on you? Do you feel better afterwards? Am guessing you must do a bit to have managed the fish fingers! Hope you have a better day today. Can't believe about your builders!! I don't suppose you managed to take any photos of the bottles etc? Could be really useful in suing/threatening to sue the bastards. It may also be worth taking a statement from your new builder about what he found and where etc - although I don't do civil law so I don't really know what I'm talking about! (never stopped me before though )
How's it going on the names front btw? Any short list yet? So thrilled for you that it looks like you're having another girl! Little girls we know born in the last year or so are Amelia Rose and Ava Sofia Hope. My favourite for a girl for a long time was Jemima Grace, but no idea what we'll call this LO if she's a she. Thomas would have been Lucy if he was a girl.

Teehee do you have me down as some sort of pram obsessive? I have no idea where you got that from

Scully can you chuck some of your extra cash this way please? I asked DH the other day how long he thought I would need/want for maternity leave as I had a sneaking suspicion he genuinely had no idea. He said 'dunno... a couple of months?' Ummmm. Hopefully not! I'd like to aim for 5 months, although if I can I'm sure I'll work up to the last minute. God knows how we'll pay the mortgage though. Might have to get a loan... will be worth it though. He's meant to be talking to my dad (his boss) about the fact that he needs a substantial pay rise sometime soon. That'll go well then.

Ei so sorry to hear you're still sick, I hope having a day to yourself helped. As others have said, so glad your GP is being so helpful. Sounds like you and I can spend the next few weeks wishing february away together!

Hello Mibbes, lovely to hear from you How's the feeding going now? Really hope it's got easier for you, I SO admire your perseverence! (sp?)

Fruity these ladies are wise indeed - much can be achieved with a well-timed blow job! Let us know how you get on (ha ha! Not literally!! ) And rolos...mmmmmm... you'll deserve a treat afterwards

Bella am very that you're feeling bean already, even if s/he is stabbing you in the fanjo! Weird the things we wish for isn't it?!?

Thank you all so much for the words of encouragement re my dreadful skin. It's been a little better over the past few days so fingers crossed it doesn't deteriorate again...

I have my booking in with the mw this afternoon She's coming to the house Need to work out a list of things to ask her. Think there's a list in the Lesley Regan week by week book my mum bought me last time round...

I bought my first baby related item on monday - very exciting/scary but this post is long enough already so maybe I'll tell you about it another time. (Whether you want to hear about it or not! )

scully · 04/02/2009 11:23

Very tired tonight so this won't be a long post
So what was your baby item Lola? I haven't bought anything yet, a pair of maternity shorts & tshirt for, that's it. Think I'll wait until after my 20wk scan then it might seem more of a reality that I need to get a bit organised & how did the booking in go?
Georgie, still throwing up , poor thing, hope you managed to keep the fish fingers down. Even now I don't think I could face eating them
No leaky boobs Fruity, I'm envious, I had to wear breast pads for months, took me about 2mths to be completely comfortable with bf with both dd's, has mastitis twice with each child & used nipple shields for the first 8wks or so. mw's tell you not to use them, but I wouldn't have continued to bf without them, my nips were so cracked and weren't getting a chance to heal. I'll be seeing a lactation consultant again this time so hopefully I won't have the initial hassles I've had previously, I know I just have to get through the first month or two, then it's ok.
Hi to everyone else

FruitynNutty · 04/02/2009 14:27

Afternoon all

Thanks for the offer of helping with Bfing Georgie, I'll need it! I will do anything that'll bring my milk in! I can get drips of milk out if I squeeze my nips but it was the same with DS, still didn't have enough.

Lola DP really doesn't deserve a BJ. He does nothing for me, so I don't see why I should do anything for him - he can go blow himself hahahahaha - I crack myself up sometimes

Poor you, I'm so pleased I didn't suffer from morning sickness, poor Georgie too
What was your baby related item please?
Also, wow! Amelia Rose seems to be incredibly popular, I used to Nanny for an Amelia Rose. My Thursday Mindee is called Amelia Rose and someone on MN asked about the name too! I told her I know two of them but that they are very delicious little girls

Scully I would kill for leaky boobs - not mastitis though! I remember buying hundreds of breast pads while preg with DS, I was told I'd need them. Didn't even use one! What a waste of money. I won't be buying them this time around, might bring on the Law of Sod .

I've got a new 2.5 yr old mindee here this afternoon, he's Italian and from what I can tell can't speak a word of English!
He will just be doing Weds afternoons, I was hoping he would have a sleep but seems to be far too keen on DS's hundreds of Spiderman toys and cars - thank goodness DS is at school
Seems easy so far, 1st impressions can be very misleading though!

HerNameWasLola · 04/02/2009 19:42

Evening

Thought I'd come and fascinate you all with tales of my booking in visit () while I'm waiting for DH to get home. Hopefully with fish & chips (Or there will be trouble!)

MW was ok I guess. The best thing is that she's happy to start trying with the doppler from 12 weeks (which could be a blessing or a curse) and is happy for me to see her to have a listen as often as I like. Next official visit is at 16 weeks.
The worst bits were when she asked the date of my "termination" and then when I told her said "gosh, doesn't time fly?" Yeah. Those months really sped by for me . But there it is. I guess I don't have to have too much to do with her if I don't want to...

Fruity I really hope that your bf goes well this time. Is there anything you can take/eat to encourage milk production? Want me to try to see if there are any homeopathic remedies etc?

Scully what's the deal with nipple shields then? It's all just so glamorous isn't it?

My baby purchase on monday was a changing bag type thing from JJMMBB. It's not a normal big changing bag, it's a little one that contains a changing mat, 2 pencil case type containers which stick to the bag with velcro, and a bottle holder. My friend had it and loved it, used to sling it in whatever bag she was using at the time and found she could also fit a couple of nappies and a change of clothes in it too, at least when her LO was small. I'd thought about getting one but they're not making them any more. To cut a long story short, I stumbled across a JJMMBB in Brighton on Monday, on a really random street, and so I went in to check. The lady said she knew exactly what I was talking about and that they'd sold really well but that she'd found one in the stock room on saturday that she hadn't realised was there, and had just put it out and reduced it! To £12 So I figured it was a sign What do you think?!?!

HerNameWasLola · 04/02/2009 19:44

Sorry. Bloody puppy leapt onto laptop

BellaHarry · 04/02/2009 19:56

Georgie still sick!! OMG you poor thing! I really did have it good I'm realising now, must be horrible? Did you have that with last pgs?
P.S you made me laugh with the bf offer, had a funny image of you me and fruity...lol

Fruity there is hours of reading and links on mn about bf I was reading them last night.

Lola cool first purchase..we just bought a pram! Quinny Buzz travel system, all in for £460 brand new on EBay....let's see if it arrives now! Yeah I like the pain now I think I know what it is, it's not very frequent though....boo. P.S I love the term 'court isn't sitting' it sounds like a class of naughty school children lol

FruitynNutty · 04/02/2009 20:27

Lola I hate that they call MC's terminations
Have you got a link for that bag? Sounds good!

Wow Bella check you out Miss Super Organised! It's good to get a bargain when you can though. How much do they normally cost?

I've just added the latest Button bump pic to my profile.
I had to do it myself though as DP out.

cricri · 04/02/2009 21:50

Sorry ladies, I've been lurking but not had chance to post. Glad you're all doing OK, although for Georgie still suffering ms. But congrats on the three of a kind
Fruity FWIW I've not really had leaky boobs with bf, just a couple of times at night, usually the one Elise was not feeding from and it's stopped now. I've certainly not been awash with milk like other women are. I've not tried hand expressing since the very early days but I don't think it's necessarily a reliable indicator of milk production and nor is a pump. this site has fantastic advice for all bf-related queries for me, although it sounds as though Georgie will be able to give you good advice too The MN threads are great too, as Bella has discovered. Really hope bf works out for you this time round, and for Bella too. My mw recommended fenugreek (from healthfood shops) for increasing milk production and I've been taking it since day 4 or 5 3x a day. My homeopath also gave me some remedies but I can't remember what they were and in any case they were personal to me, although I'm sure there are some general ones. Hopefully Kate can find out for you.
Ei Hope you're feeling better.
Georgie at what your new builder found left behind by the old ones! Definitely sounds as if you have grounds to take them to court. Sorry to hear about problems with your rented property too You deserve a lucky break soon.
Lola at your mw for calling your mc a termination. I know they see it all the time, but still... FWIW my mw found Elise's hb at 13 weeks but it can be more anxiety-inducing than not IYSWIM. Pleased that everything is "official" so to speak now and that you're in the system.
Baby purchase sounds lovely Wouldn't be big enough for me though - with Elise's explosive poos I now carry around 3 changes of clothes with me just in case
Bella Quinny Buzz sounds good We've got the Maxi Cosi car seat and it's great.
Scully Hope the hot weather is easing down there for you. It's the other extreme here!
Mibbes Good to see you How are you? Hope everything is going well.
We went to baby swimming for the first time yesterday with some NCT friends. It's a 10-week course at a small pool nearby. I was a bit apprehensive as Elise still doesn't really enjoy baths and screams the house down more often than not. But she was fine in the pool thank goodness! I got her a little wetsuit type jacket to keep her warm and she looked ever so cute in it
Hello to everybody else Still no news from Mollie or Sparkly? Hope you're both OK ladies. And Emmsy, have you not commandeered that laptop off your kids yet? Hope all is well with you.

cricri · 04/02/2009 21:51

Forgot to say Fruity, that is a very neat bump 33 weeks How are your birth plans shaping up? Are you still going for a VBAC?

HerNameWasLola · 04/02/2009 21:59

Wooo Hoooo Fruity! Looks like you're nearly cooked! How exciting! Can't do you a link for the bag unfortunatley, they're not making it anymore so it's not on their website.

Makes me when they say 'termination'. To me in order to terminate a pg it needs to be progressing in the first place, and the baby needs to be alive. You can't end something that is already over. We don't know when Thomas died, he measured a week or so small for dates when he was born, so....

Anyway.

Bella am very impressed with your pram purchase Luckily I have managed to convince my mum (who in turn has convinced my dad) that it's traditional for the maternal gp's to buy the pram for the 1st grandchild We have my old cot () which we can hopefully use, and I'm hoping to borrow a moses basket, so hopefully the only big thing we'll need to buy is a car seat. Am I kidding myself?!?!

HerNameWasLola · 04/02/2009 22:04

Cross posts Cricri Glad swimming went well bet Elise looked gorgeous!

FruitynNutty · 05/02/2009 07:35

Morning!

Cricri BF remedies sound interesting, Lola if you know of anything homeopathic then do let me know! I might google and see what I can find This poor baby will starve to death if I don't do something!! - I'm refusing to buy bottles this time and I'm not digging out my steriliser either. I've heard that about pumps, I've also been warned not to use one within the 1st couple of weeks.
I'm going to have to just do all the feeding myself - DP can be on nappy duty
Talking of which, I'll never forget the look on DP's face when he changed DS's nappy for the 1st time in hospital, all that lovely black tar stuff - DP thought there was something wring with him, hahahaha.

cricri I thoroughly recommend keeping up with the swimming when the classes have finished. I kept forgetting to take DS, I hate swimming anyway (too much bother with me having to get de-fuzzed and keeping hair dry!) So now, DS hates swimming, no idea how to overcome it either. I was hoping he would be a strong (ish) swimmer by now

Lola I wonder if the bag will be on Ebay? What's the make? I'll look it up

Got my consultant app this morning, got to try and convince him that I'm either going to go into the midwife led unit or have a HB - up to him! He made me cry last time though so I've got to try and be strong!
Baby mindee has gastro so not in and little girl mindee is (I think) ill too, just waiting for a text from her mum to see if she's coming or not.
Right, better go have my shower in case she does turn up!
Enjoy your brekkie girls

scully · 05/02/2009 12:21

Are you going to St George's Fruity? As long as there are no complications between now and the birth, you should be ok for a m/w led vbac trial labour. That's what I had, although I was in a hospital, not a separate birthing unit, so could have got whisked to theatre had there been a problem with my vbac.
What a lovely bump too, I should take some pictures of this one, still think I'm in denial a lot of the time that I'm actually pregnant
Had an unscheduled shopping centre trip after work today, with both dd's, as dd2 had managed to break both pairs of glasses this week So got home at 6pm instead of 4.40pm, with dh working until 10pm.....I truly dislike bathtime with my dd's, they think it's a bloody pool
Anyway, after an hour of stress, and pizza for dinner, we were all happy again
Not sure about your mw Lola, you will need to train her I think, as to what is tactful when talking to expectant people. Nipple shields are extremely glam, almost as much as cracked nips Did you get your fish and chips?
Well done on the pram purchase Bella, you'll be very trendy with your Quinny

FruitynNutty · 05/02/2009 13:47

Yep it's St.Georges. The midwife lead unit is only 1 floor away from the labour ward but I've been told they won't let me in as I'm too high risk. I'm so desperate for a waterbirth and they are making it extremely difficult for me.
Having spoken to the consultant this morning I've found out, they will want to strap a monitor to my tummy and one to the baby's head! They'll have a hell of a time doing that while I'm under water No, seriously, if they don't start co-operating I'll have this baby at home if I have to.

I'm so consultant gave me the number for the MWL so I'll have to speak to the head of midwifery there - maybe I can talk some sense into her, we shall see.......

BellaHarry · 05/02/2009 14:53

Fruity Cool picie! You gota be proud of that bulge!!! Quinny package is about £600+ if shop bought!
CriCri Thanks re bf good luck with, fingers crossed! So glad Maxi Cosy gets the the thumbs up! How long do you think it will last??
Lola Nice plan there! I'm trying to aquire a cot, set up a gift list on babies r us in the vain hope someone will ask "what do you need?"
Scully I LOVED the Quinny in the shop! Can't wait to push it!

I'm off swimming tonight going to try and get back in to the exercise thing, I've been missing it pregnancy is no excuse for my arse being this big!!

scully · 06/02/2009 08:57

They do like to monitor you through a vbac labour, I was with dd2 and will be again with dc3. Just my tummy though, nothing on the baby I wasn't desperate for a water birth though, just didn't want a c/s, that was my main aim. But it's worth you asking to see what they say.
Swimming is great when you're pregnant Bella, I should get back into that as well, just have to find the energy from somewhere......
Have such a busy day tomorrow, hope it's not too hot.

BellaHarry · 06/02/2009 10:46

Swim was lovely, felt all light and floatey!...until I got out lol Going to go again v soon x

BellaHarry · 06/02/2009 10:48

...just had a thought; Fruity why don't you go swimming everyday then the chances of a water birth will be increased as you will most likely go into labour whilst in the pool???

FruitynNutty · 06/02/2009 11:22

hahaha, like your thinking Bella

I've just been on the phone to the midwife in charge of the Carmen Suite at St.G's.
I told her I will transfer to Kingston if they don't allow me. Kingston have recently relaxed their guidelines for vbac women so allow them into the midwife led unit and are allowed to use the pool!

She said she would speak to someone about it and get back to me but in the mean time I should start making enquiries to Kingston as I haven't much time.
I'll have to try and see my doctor today if I can to get the ball rolling.
It'll be a right pain for all my ante-natal appointments as I'll have to drive there - I can walk to St.G's with kids in buggy!

We'll see anyway.

We had SIL here yesterday. My god, for an 11 year old she can bloody eat a lot!
I bought a bag of oranges and there were only 3 left by the time she left - and that's because I hid them!
She ate 7 chicken goujons, baked beans and brocolli for tea with DS then she had some of DP's dinner later on after constantly having something in her gob!
I tell you, I will not be going shopping on a day she's over, got barely anything left!
She's not really fat but could do with losing a few pounds, she's got quite a belly on her. I bet she had something when she got home too.
I told DP to hide the bar of chocolate so we could have it when she left. That would've been gone too.

I think I'll send the DS's away to boarding school if they're going to be packing away that much food daily at that age
