Wooooo Hooooo for GeorgieGirl!!! it was such a relief to get your text, improved my afternoon no end! I'm so thrilled for you all, I hope you can start to relax a bit now xx

Scully so lovely to hear you sounding so much more relaxed! And I bet your bump really pops out now you're going to let it! (iykwim)

Bella & Fruity your Doula sounds lovely! She lives too far from us though. Do you think that's something you'd think about Bella? If she's charging £150, I know that's not exactly small change, but it sounds like an absolute bargain to me for all the support you'll get.

This is the lady I really like the look of. £600 though! Really like the La Leche stuff she does as well as everything else. What do you ladies think? (Obviously this is all just should I ever need one.... I figure I'm not tempting fate by thinking about her because 1. I found out about her before I was pg and 2. If I don't believe that one day I will actually have a baby... well... I don't know what I'll do...) Anyway!

Will be back later to catch up with everyone properly later, going to go and watch DH eat dinner now!

mibbes · 06/01/2009 21:13

Quick post for Georgie - YIPPPEEEE ! Am so glad that you have had such a good result - in many areas only a result of more than one in 100 is considered high so your odds are low risk - am so chuffed for you xx.

hello to everyone else - all going well here, busy bee but loving it

cricri · 06/01/2009 21:45

Fantastic news Georgie - I've been waiting for your news all day and have only just managed to get back to the PC to check! You must be so thrilled and hopefully you can relax now and fingers crossed the echocardiogram at 20 weeks will be clear. Can't wait to see your pics
Kate (or is it Lola? Sorry, can't get used to not calling you Kate!), your prospective doula sounds fab. Mine was fantastic, I really couldn't have done it without her and I'd definitely recommend that every woman has one during labour if possible. She also baked us a cake afterwards
Thanks for all your comments about Elise's teething/colic/whatever. Last night was much better - we had a bit of crying but no screaming fits and she went to sleep at 11pm. We'd given her a bit of calpol just in case it was teething so not sure if that did the trick. She's been much calmer today, except she didn't sleep very much this afternoon, even in the sling, and she is now overtired. DH has got her at the moment just so I can have a break go on MN I've done my fair share of pacing up and down for tonight!

cricri · 06/01/2009 21:45

That was meant to be a strike-out - not sure why it didn't work!

HappyandEiknowit · 06/01/2009 23:10

scully · 07/01/2009 11:31

Great news about the scan results George, what a relief for you both
Welcome back Ei I asked for those books for Xmas but dh couldn't find them, they are popular here as well.
Good to hear Elise is being more reasonable Cricri What until she can argue, dd1 spent 6min in the corner tonight, still continuing to argue with me, aghhh Even the dog wanted to go outside she was carrying on so much.
Time for bed for me now, 9.30pm, very late for me, normally it's around 8pm lately Have put some photos on FB, if anyone's on there & wants to have a nosey. Remember, no baby comments yet though, as the real world doesn't know

scully · 07/01/2009 11:32

I must be tired, that should read 'wait until she can argue'..........

BellaHarry · 07/01/2009 11:59

Lola well I looked at the web link Fruity sent me but I'm still not sure what she does??? I'm really very confused can someone give me a break down I've never heard of such a service ever!! Doula does that stand for something? xx

FruitynNutty · 07/01/2009 13:41

there you go Bella this explains it a little but the website I linked to you explains it in far more detail.
They are basically there for you to help you have the best possible birth you can and to make it as comfortable as possible.
Apparently 'Doula' is a Greek word meaning "woman servant or caregiver" There's loads of info on the Doula.org.uk website.

Here's a bit from it:

an experienced woman who offers emotional and practical support to a woman (or couple) before, during and after childbirth. A doula believes in ?mothering the mother? - enabling a woman to have the most satisfying and empowered time that she can during pregnancy, birth and the early days as a new mum. This type of support also helps the whole family to relax and enjoy the experience

FruitynNutty · 07/01/2009 14:23

Kate/Lola that Doula sounds wonderful, but ouch at £600. If you can justify it then go for it She seems very experienced, she obviously knows what she's talking about. She's a homeopath and has studied Buteyko Breathing which is a bonus (never heard of the breathing thing but sounds impressive!)
What do you think? is she worth it? If you think she is then do it.
I wish I could do something like that but I don't have the patience.
Ei there you are!
Scully Lovely pics on FB!

I'm enjoying the peace. DS started back at nursery this afternoon and mindee asleep. It's bloody freezing in here though. Wish I could curl up in bed, I'd never get up though.
I don't want to go back out there in the freezing cold to pick DS up

teeheelaydee · 07/01/2009 15:28

Lola That Doula does sound wonderful, love the quote about being a "non-judgemental sister, mother or aunt" that sounds like a dream. I'd never known about it until Cricri had hers but she obviously thought it was worth it. I guess have a chat with the lady to see what you think when you talk. Hope you are feeling well today.

Scully Can't remember how old your DD1 is but it sounds like she is ? going on 15? Aaaah imagine when she is a full blown teenager with hormones and all.

Ei Good to have you back. It's lovely when you can really immerse yourself in a book. I haven't found one like that for ages. I did pick those up a few months ago but thought they sounded like a bit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer rip off - but you think worth it?

Fruity Sounds like you are having a calmer day than Monday - see doesn't take long to get back in the swing of it all.

Well - I have had a bit of shocking afternoon. I went to the doctors as I could not put up with this constant uncomformtableness (is that even a word) anymore and was in tears last night as just not getting better. She basically said there was nothing else she could do as can't give any stronger drugs/ointments and they would get better once baby has arrived (!), so I said can you help me with work because normal life and movement is a nightmare at the moment. She has signed me off until the 23rd Jan Which is the start of my mat leave Which means I'm not going back I feel really funny about it but I just think if I knew I could go it and take it a bit easy then I would but my boss is so awful and the job is so hectic and unforgiving that it would make things worse. I am quite relieved as well - now I can stop worrying about work and try and get better so that the next few months is not awful. I guess I may work for a horrible company but there are certainly beneifits to not being self-employed, as some of you ladies can testify.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 07/01/2009 19:22

Evening. Wow, back to normal with a crash for me today. School runs, no DH, no mum, Eddie Catz with DD2. Tea. Dropping Mollie at her Dads...... Mind you, won't complain . Nice having a bit of noramlity. Nothing new to report here. Oh, actually there is. I've got a date booked to have my cervical stitch put in. It's on Monday 12th. We're doing it privately as Kingston made such a hash of the last time that I can't bear to have something go wrong after the week we've just had. So, in on Monday, stay overnight (peace and quiet!), the bed rest for 36 hours after. Fingers crossed that should be it til 20 week scan.

Fruity Shall we try and get another playdate/coffee in the diary soon?

Lola/ Kate Ooooo, would love a Doula. Think it's a lovely thing to do. Am sure it will be an incredibly peaceful birth. Hmmmmm, serene and calm. Go for it hon.

Ei Well hello and happy new year to you Miss Ei. Glad you've got your nose in your book and nothings seriously wrong. You had us worried.

Scully Our DD's are the same age aren't they? Can totally empathise with DD1 throwing a wobbly. My DD1 still does occassionally and they go on and on and on..... How's the MS? And I keep wanting tzaiki (sp?) now!!!!! But you can keep the olives . Would you like some of my ceaser salad with grilled bacon, chicken and crunchy lettuce?

TeeHee Hey fab news about being signed off. Can imagine the pain you'd be in sitting at a desk all day. Enjoy your mat leave and concentrate on getting well. Don't want to be silly, but have you got one of those blow up cicles/cushions that you can sit on to ease the discomfort/pressure?

Cricri How's Elise been today? Any better?

Mibbes Has evan settled into more of a routine? has the feeding frenzy stopped?

Mollie Dear girl. Just wondering if you are ok? Know it's a painful time coming up. Talk to us. Don't hide away.

Sparkly Anyone stolen your pencil case yet?!?!?

BellaHarry How's the secret under-the-desk-snacking going? And if it's any consolation, I had a termination when I was 22. The guy was a dick. I was 4 months away from graduating uni. It was not the right time. i do not regret my decision for an instant. Mistakes happen. Don't beat yourself up about it honey. It is over and done with and in the past. There is nothing to feel guilty about. You did the best thing you could, given the situation. xxxxxx

Molliemooma · 07/01/2009 22:11

CriCri Glad to hear Elise was better last night for you
EI Lovely to "see you" How's the tooth now?
Scully I know you're probably tearing your hair out with DD1 but it makes me laugh hearing your descriptions of her naughty behaviour I can imagine her trying it on with you
TeeHee So pleased to hear that although the doc can't actually do anything physically she has signed you off. I bet you are chuffed to bits you haven't got to go back there for a while now By the way have you seen this
Kate (Should I be using Lola now?) That doula looks fantastic, especially liked the bit about the soup and cake and light housework
Georgie I bet you have never welcomed the resmption of normal life so much! I promise not to hide my lovely, the 10th is the day we had the scan to confirm evertything had gone wrong, and the 15th was the ERPC but I also promise not to be miserable. I need to try and be positive, I will allow myself to feel sad, but that is all - I insist!
Sparkly Thanks for being my guinea pig! x

Just in case you're wondering why Sparkly was my guinea pig, DH's boss brought me a webcam today so we've been chatting online with pics! Very funny

Oh and also wanted to say to Bella & Georgie the decisions that you made in your earlier lives were right for you at that time, I think it's great that you feel able to share such confidential information with us all knowing that we wouldn't judge you for it.

BellaHarry · 08/01/2009 08:31

Fruity I get it now, thank you. I'm a bit sceptical though I'm not one for alternative therapies etc and DH hates anything remotely 'fairy' as he would call it. Did she support you with DS' birth?

Georgie thank you for shareing that with me. I always think it's my little guilty secret that no one else has to go through. As for snacking I'm actually a lot better re ms these days which is really strange as everything I read says week 10 should be the worst!!? xx

scully · 08/01/2009 08:34

Teehee, dd1 is 6.5yrs, well behaved about 80% of the time but the attitude of a 15yr old the remaining 20% of the time Glad you find the description funny though Mollie, seriously, the poor dog didn't know where to go, he just wanted to make sure he didn't get in trouble for anything Hope the next few days aren't too awful for you.
Very pleased tonight, it's 6.15pm and both dd's are bathed and fed, just waiting for dh to ring so I can collect him from work, as he's working late.
M/s has eased off this week, did the same in both dd's pregnancies as well, by week13. Just extremely tired still but that's to be expected. You should get yourself some tzatziki, it's sooo good When I run out I find myself looking longingly at the sour cream instead Almost had a caesar salad today but went for the vege burger instead, hmmm
£600 is a lot but I guess it depends on how much help/support you think dh/dp will be. A lot of partners are great, but some find it all a bit overwhelming and for a first baby it is hard to stand up for yourself if necessary, when you don't know what's going on. & if you have a long labour, your partner will get tired and it's good to have someone else there to look after you.
Wow Teehee, so you don't go back to work, how lovely Hope your pain improves before the baby arrives though When are you due again?
Right, dh hasn't called, so think I'll have a shower. Sure thing that he will call when I'm wet

FruitynNutty · 08/01/2009 09:10

Morning!

I feel like I've been working half the day already and it's only 5 to 9.
Off to playgroup in a bit, thought I'd catch up while mindee having brekkie.

Bella I used to be sceptical about alternative therapies but after DS's birth I'd do anything to make it easier this time - if I could afford it!
Also, after doing that infant massage instructor course I realised how much alternative therapies can really work.
BTW, all my symptoms stopped at 10 weeks - thanks god! Looks like you could be in for an easy ride
There's never a "normal" time for anything during pregnancy. What one book says, another says differently. Some people don't even have symptoms - hence then reason two of my friends didn't realise they were preg. One found out at 17 weeks, the other at 6 months - the 1st one already has two DC's!
Scully So pleased your MS is also easing - not sure about the tzatziki/sour cream though [euchhh] And Salad???? Vege burger sounds like a good choice to me, with a large helping of chips with gallons of ketchup and mayo

DP just woken up. I'm so fed up of waking him every morning every 15 minutes. He just goes back to sleep. He's just had a go at me for not waking him Do I look like an alarm clock? He does have one btw - bloody moron.
I can't understand , if you've got work to go to, then get up when your alarm goes. Don't lie in bed, just get up!

Anyway, better go and clean Ready Brek off mindee's face, hands, chair, hair, floor............................

scully · 08/01/2009 09:17

What does dp do that he can get up at 9.10am? I've been at work 40min by then

cricri · 08/01/2009 12:35

Fruity My DH is exactly the same - just rolls over when the alarm goes off and goes back to sleep then asks why I didn't wake him I'm like you, I just get up when it goes off, no point in delaying the inevitable!
Teehee Great news that you don't have to go back to work, you must be so relieved Really hope you feel better soon though, must be miserable Are you going to have a doula then?
Ei Good to see you, books sound great. I love losing myself in series like that. Not much chance of that atm - I'm trying to get through the magazines which are piling up everywhere. Must cancel a couple of subscriptions...
Scully Glad the ms has eased off. Hopefully the tiredness will too and you'll be full of energy very soon.
Mollie Good to see you, sorry it's such a painful time for you. Can't believe it's been a year already, I remember when you joined the MC Avengers thread Thinking of you atm.
Georgie Can't believe you're looking forward to an overnight stay in hospital in order to get some peace and quiet, although no doubt that will be me soon (longing for P & Q that is!)
Elise has been much better the past couple of nights I'm taking her to see a cranial osteopath this afternoon to see if her sleep issues have anything to do with her delivery. Will be interesting to see what they say.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 08/01/2009 13:15

Just a quickie for TeeHee and Fruity...

I've mis-ordered 2 pairs of jeans from Littlewoods Maternity range. I ordered in Nov, put them in wardrobe and forgot about them. Have just opened them and they are size 12, not size 10 as I'd need.

One pair black jeans and one pair dark blue jeans. Really nice actually, plain and chic, but too big/wide for me in the leg.

Just wondering whether either of you would like to take them off my hands for £20 for both pairs? I can't send them back as after 28 days return policy. Think they cost me £20 each, so bargain!!!

Can take pics if anyone interested.

If not, then will try and sell on the For Sale thread. xxxx

OP posts:
FruitynNutty · 08/01/2009 14:23

Teehee I forgot to ask how you go about getting piles? , wouldn't do me any good anyway as I don't get paid for mat leave/being signed off
Scully He works in Soho as a computer 3d animator. I'm sure he should be in work for 9 I think it's quite relaxed at his work though.
cricri let us know how it goes with the cranial osteopath
Georgie I'm afraid I'll have to pass. Only 10 weeks to go now so I'll make do with what I've got. Are you sure you won't keep them? You must remember that not only your belly grows, I'm sure your thighs will fill out too I used to be a size 10, now can't even get into size 14 Hennes Maternity jeans

I can't complain about my size anymore because I have just sat here for nearly 2 hours and stuffed my face with whatever I can find - only unhealthy crap though. I've been doing this since Monday - Button must be going through a growth spurt - uh oh!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 08/01/2009 16:36

Fruity Can't believe you only have 10 weeks to go. Eek. Was thinking that by the time I'd need/fit the jeans it'll be the height of summer and will be too hot to wear them.

And if it makes you feel better, I ate a WHOLE pizza for lunch. And salad. And 3 biscuits. . . Beat that!!!!

OP posts:
teeheelaydee · 08/01/2009 17:13

Please excuse the typing am writing this while laying on my side in bed. I have decided to do whatever is the most comfortable seeing as the wonders of modern medicine can do naff all for me. Am actually a little better so hopefully a few more days of this and I can't get back to normal a bit. it is a relief to know i have time to get better now and the lists of stuff I ahhave to do will just have to wait. In answer to your question Fruity it's all to do with extra pressure on your blood vessels and the increased flow of blood you have when pg. Apparently doing your pelvic floor excercises helps, so Scully be warned tena lady is not the only consequence of not doing them - learn from my mistakes girls!

Cricri Glad to hear you had a better night, let us know how you get on with your appointment. Don't think I'll get a doula, I'm pretty confident that DP will be pretty good and I've booked the NCT class and a yoga course so have blown some of the baby budget on that. Bet they're really hard to find in the sticks of Norfolk anyway.

Georgie Thanks for the offer but like Fruity I think I need to make do with what I have. I've actually found with trousers that I need a 10 too and I'm normally a 12 - i guess I've been pretty lucky that that area hasn't expanded too much. Mind you the first jeans I got stopped being any good at about 20 weeks so you may still get wear from them. Why don't you hang onto them and sell them if you don;t use them or maybe Lola or Bella could use them. If you hang onto them we will have more graduates anyway PMA.

Mollie I will be thinking of you over the next few days. Maybe passing this milestone will help you to move on a little. Keep posting though won't you.

Fruity DP used to be the same and always rely on my alarm. I used to make sure he was up before I left the house but then thought sod it - I reckon a few days of being late sorted it out. Perhaps you should warn him before hand that you will no longer be waking him so he can't moan at you. His job sounds like fun!

Hello to everyone else - I have time on my hands today to have a nosy at some other threads - there are some crazy MN'ers and am so glad we have our little haven!

BellaHarry · 08/01/2009 17:18

I jave just managed to log in to mums net useing my blakberry! Very impressed with this little thing acually!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 08/01/2009 20:55

TeeHee You talk a lot of sense. Of course I should just keep them and then sell all my maternity clothes when I'm finished with them. Doh! First attack of pg brain I think. Hope the Farmer Giles clear up soon. Sounds pure agony.

Mollie Will be thinking of you this weeked. I hope that you can find closure. It's a painful memory. Maybe you could do something nice to try and give you something nice to associate with the date? MAybe that's too simplistic? Anyway, sending you many hugs.

Fruity Just scoffed 4 more mini donughts. Damn Sainsbury's and their special offers!

Bella Check you out, gadget girl. Been wondering whether I should upgrade to a Crackberry. What's your opinion of it?

Cricri Mollie and Libby both went to cranial osteopath. It worked very, very well for Moo (traumatic birth with ventouse) and quite well with Libby (natural birth no invertvention). But both well worth the money. Hope Elise (and you) see some benefits.

Hello to everyone else. Hope you are well and not freezing your t8ts off in this weather . Catch ya later. xxx

OP posts:
FruitynNutty · 08/01/2009 20:56

Ah Georgie that is true but I'm sure I still wore jeans in the summer while preg with DS. I would hang on to them if I were you. Or even just keep one pair? Quite handy to have a pair of jeans in the summer for casual evenings out - if you get a chance that is! - I can't actually imagine the weather warming up at all - bring on the summer!!!!
oh and yes, that is a lot of food but I really think I've beaten you there. I'm just too embarrassed to admit to what I've crammed down my neck today.
It'll all be my fault when this baby turns out to be a whopper (not a burger king type whopper - I hope ). I'm surprised I haven't given myself gestational diabetes
Bella You geek - put it away
Teehee I agree, I think we're the only sane MNers on here. What is wrong with people lately? Do you reckon it's some sort of New Year depression?
Also, I've heard bottom problems are very common in pregnancy, glad not to have suffered so far. Not something I'd like to be signed off work for

DP came back from work with a present for me
THREE Cadbury's Cream Eggs That's pudding sorted then, he's just cooking us a chicken curry
