Sunnydale, take heart, NO direct causal link between stress and a failure to conceive has ever been proved. Animals have an adaptive mechanism that shuts down fertility during times of environmental stress; human beings do not. At best stress results in conception-avoiding behaviour (when you don't BD because you're worrying about the management presentation the next day, duh! - if you BDed your chances of conceiving would be just as good, stress or no!) I'm also a super-stressed person and have conceived twice before, no problems. And believe me, I'm capable of stressing about ANYTHING.

girlwithacurl · 12/12/2008 15:26

Sunnydale from everything I have read i think that being stressed can delay ovulation, and as Villagemum says stop you from Bd'ing. Both of which can impact on your ability to concieve, But if your cycle is regular and you are BD'ing lots then it really is totally irrelevant, as you say people have got pregnant during war and strife. Try not to get too down, you might still be, and a nice glass of wine and a relaxing evening might be good, try to take your mind off it for a bit (please note I am incapable of practicing what I preach as I can't stop thinkig about it at all )

Sunnydale · 12/12/2008 15:39

Oh thank you, lovely villagemum and girlcurl, for your kind words. I wasn't even expecting anyone to read my rant, much less reply. Kind words and sympathy really do help. Tell me though, why do you think some people can't get PG? Since I've been PG twice before, after BD'ing about once in six months (ha ha ha - not quite but you get what I mean) I suppose I'm just expecting too much, too soon. I am ashamed of myself for being so impatient, when others have been trying for years. I just feel I'm getting older and older, with rapidly depleting eggs. And I feel so helpless. And I'm trying not to panic. I find this bit - the bit where you know you're not but you're still waiting for AF - ever so difficult. I'm sorry to moan, really I am, esp when this is such a lovely cheerful group. Right, will stop now. Apologies again and HAPPY thoughts to all.

VJayMerrilyOnHigh · 12/12/2008 16:33

hi sunnydale you rant away, when is your af due? Just becuase you're not having any symptoms doesn't mean you're not pg.
vm I'm ok, I think because I was determined to not obsess about it all this time round, I am now obsessing IYKWIM.

Also I am having some cramps today, and they remind me so much of my miscarriages .

OP posts:
olivo · 12/12/2008 17:53

lol at poppycock!
but VM,as I am on 8DPO, can i have permission to do it? Actually, i have no symptoms whatsoever.
sunny, sorry you're feeling so frustrated, i know how you feel. But we'll get there evetually.

Sunnydale · 12/12/2008 18:22

VJ, my AF is due next Weds earliest (17th) but could be later, as I'm not sure how long my cycle is or even if I ov'd this month. I only know I ov'd last month because I happened to have an ultrasound. I didn't have AF at all for three months before then.

Cramps can be a positive sign - I had them with both my pgs - but all too easy not to think so when you've had a mc. Try not to worry - I know it's hard. Getting PG is just the beginning of a very wonderful but frightening journey for anyone who's mc'd before... thank heavens for MN and all the lovely, supportive women on here.

VillageMum · 12/12/2008 18:38

Sunnydale, no problem, and really, don't stress that stressing will stop you from conceiving, because it won't - as girlwithacurl says, extreme stress can (and this is only a 'can') in some women delay ov a bit, but it depends on the woman (I'm the biggest stressfest you can imagine and it has never happened to me) and it has to be high and sustained stress, not normal worries about conceiving. So ladies, breathe easy! PLUS Sunnydale you may well be pregnant, not having symptoms doesn't mean a dang thing!

VJay, cramps could be implantation cramps?... I wouldn't worry. I'm having weird twinges and hoping against hope that that's what they are (rather than, say, a nasty yeast infection!)

olivo, we are both 8DPO and I don't have any obvious 'symptoms' either!

Ladies, we will just have to wait... if we keep on BDing at the right time then our chances of success go up each cycle, just remember that!

VJayMerrilyOnHigh · 12/12/2008 18:58

Thanks vm and sunnydale. I have calmed down now, and am looking forward to a relaxing night in front of the telly, dh won't be home until gone 9, so I have the remote control all to myself

Ahh sunnydale, the old 'just relax, my friend who's been trying for ages went on holiday', etc, etc .

Although I have conceived fairly easily, my family (well mother) is convinced that working/telling her I'm pregnant/anything which constitutes normal life has caused my miscarriages (3 in 12 months ). But I'm calm and relaxed and fine and, oh, POPPYCOCK, POPPYCOCK, POPPYCOCK!

Works well on so many levels that word .

VJay - I also had cramps with my ds and oddly none in the weeks before the mcs. FIngers crossed it's implantation.

smileycat · 13/12/2008 08:50

Sorry your feeling a little low Sunnydale I think we all question our selves from time to time, I know I certainly do
Hi Tinsel (waves)

Well I'm still on my 'forgetting about ttcing' wk, my last night to night, had a girls xmas night out on Mon, my works one last night & have my dh's tonight. Have drunk quite alot over the last wk but not tooooo much that I'v pickled the egg. FF says that I should be starting my fertile stage from today then OV Tues/Wed so the BD fest will start tonight drink aided, thats how I was concieved so willing to give it a go this month as something different, you never know most September born babies are results of Xmas/New Year parties

StealthPolarBear · 13/12/2008 09:04

Hello everyone
I think I may have had ewcm yesterday - does that mean now is the time, and how long for?

2manychips · 13/12/2008 09:33

ooh yes I'd like to talk cevical mucus too! Can anyone educate me?

smileycat · 13/12/2008 09:55

Hi Girls mine tends to be creamy just before. I then get the watery stuff with a bit of cream in it (what I have now) & FF says that I'm just entering my fertile stage, then anything upto 4 days before I OV I get the EWCM
Another sight that I was reading up on said that if you put a little on the end of you tongue (not for some people I know) & taste it, when it isn't ferile it tastes very bitter & acidy & then as you approach your fertile time it gets sweater

smileycat · 13/12/2008 09:56

oops that meant to say sweeter..doh

2manychips · 13/12/2008 10:06

Before my af I'm generally..well drier, but this time I've lots of white creamy cm. Any ideas? am I clutching at straws?

olivo · 13/12/2008 11:36

I was feeling pretty nauseous when i sat down. not sure reading about people tasting their CM has done much for me .

SO if you can't beat 'em, join 'em..... Mine tends to go sticky then watery in the few days before ov, before having a couple of days of EWCM, which is when we go for it!. I then go dry usually but this month i have had a few dry days then the last couple of creamy again.
hope everyone is well today and good luck to those bding this weekend. I'm on day 9 of the 2ww, no symptoms other than last night couldn't sleep on my front as my boobs hurt. and today i feel sick but i know it's too early. It's probably through a lack of sleep, dd was up most of the night and we also had awful storms.

JingleJools · 13/12/2008 12:43

Some familiar faces here Hello Vjay, Smileycat, Villagemum and Wincies

Since I am umistakably, painfully Ov'ing right now for the first time since MC (CD33) and I have been seeing more EWCM than ever ever ever before , I have a good feeling about all this , especially since I was a rampant hussy 3 hours before I got the OV pains

I normally get AF at 13DPO, so the witch is due Christmas Day !!

By the way, I am certain that GFJ really really does help - this time round, I've been drinking it for weeks (Tescos pink grapefruit not from concentrate) as I had a real taste for it when PG and, when the hormones subsided, I could still tolerate it so had a glass every morning. I really really (TMI ) have never ever seen EWCM in such abundance !!

VJayMerrilyOnHigh · 13/12/2008 14:08

Hi jools, you've found us . I had loads of EWCM after mc, but I didn't notice it so much this month. Not sure about tasting it smiley but I'm open to anything

OP posts:
smileycat · 13/12/2008 16:25

VJay havn't been that brave yet myself just something I read about but you never know if I get 12 months down the line with no bfp I'll try anything to make it work

VJayMerrilyOnHigh · 13/12/2008 17:23

I totally agree smiley, I just hope I'm pg now so don't have to

OP posts:
tinselandglittercoveredwincies · 13/12/2008 19:22

Also had vast quantities of EWCM this month after swigging back the gfj for 2 weeks.

Wotcha Jools . Fingers crossed that the hussy-approach works!

StealthPolarBear · 13/12/2008 20:51

grapefruit juice?? Any particular type?

tinselandglittercoveredwincies · 13/12/2008 21:50

Don't think so, although I like the Tropicana one. I'm afraid so, I do actually like the stuff .

olivo · 14/12/2008 08:52

i get the tropicana one too; it's the only not from concentrate one i can find. I actually quite like it too!
So, 10dpo and sore boobs for me - it's got to be AF on its way, hasn't it?
