Aha, so this is where much of the TTC August thread has defected to! Wondered why it had been so quiet on there today. Hello all [waves]. I like that this thread is nice and small so far (she said, making it bigger). Can I pull up a comfy armchair and join you? I make good lemon drizzle cake. Hope you don't mind, but have added myself to the list:-

hi everyone
anyone tested yet? Well??
(AS you can tell patience is not my strong point )

LadyMetroland · 10/12/2008 00:21

hi all

still feeling ill - temp was 39 degrees this morning. mood not helped by DH claiming that even if I was pg, i've probably "boiled it" by now. He felt guilty afterwards though.

despite feeling like crap am still relentlessly symptom spotting. Acute sense of smell/taste has developed - particularly with tap water which tastes peculiarly chemically and chlorinated...

girlwithacurl · 10/12/2008 09:52

The problem with a lot of the "symptoms" is that you often get them as a result of the progesteron, sore boobs etc. but also I get hightened sence of smell, fizzy tounge, sore nips and metalic taste every month after ov. So sympton spotting is a nightmare, I convince myself I am... but then head says, no!

2manychips · 10/12/2008 10:22

Is crying at a Lionel Ritchie song a symptom? most out of character for me!

girlwithacurl · 10/12/2008 10:57

ha ha 2manychips its certainly a symptom of something!

VillageMum · 10/12/2008 12:26

olivo, why do you think you might not have ov'd this month? If it's because your temps are a bit erratic and FF hasn't identified ov then if you can, don't stress - it's only as reliable as the damn thermometer and the conditions under which you temp... if you usually ov then this month shouldn't be any different. Let me know how it goes?

LadyMetro, girlwithacurl, I've been imagining a hundred symptoms a day too... then I remember that implantation couldn't even have happened yet, argh! Hope I don't have these 'phantom pgs' every month from now on...

VJaY, are you symptom spotting yet? Or are you managing to keep a cooler head than me?

Ladies, I'm a bit scared even to add a testing date to the list in case it jinxes things - let me see how it goes and maybe I'll post one closer the time!

olivo · 10/12/2008 16:49

hello again - nice to see so many old friends on here. I now think i may have only just ov-ed more ov symptoms but now a rise in temp, so i guess i wont be testing on the 19th! yuo're right, VM, about the temping - i guess i think that since i pay for the priviledge that FF should give me the answers i want to hear . might trade in my old thermometer (but not a lot i can do about my dd being awake half the night, i guess!)
must go, meant to be writing reports!

Sunnydale · 10/12/2008 17:00

Hello - a question for the room - what in your opinions is the most reliable way of knowing when you've OV'd? Temping? Pee stick? Saliva? Or is it worth me splashing out for one of those computer things (is it Fertility Friend?)I don't like that I'm not sure that we BD'd at the right time, and I can't afford to waste time because am ancient hag with rapidly declining quality of eggs!
Chips, LOL at you crying at Lionel Ritchie song. I started crying when I walked into M&S. Though that might just have been at how bad the clothes were. More worrying still, I downloaded Man In the Mirror by Michael Jackson last night. And cry when I listen to it. Now that really is f up

VJayMerrilyOnHigh · 10/12/2008 18:13

Hi vm, I have been having symptoms but I am trying to ignore them
sunnydale temping works for me, even though I said I wasn't going to do it , due to me being all calm and relaxed about ttc this time, but I have , and I peed on some sticks too . I have noooo willpower. Anyway, thay both worked for me, I know I ov'd around cd16/17.

OP posts:
LadyMetroland · 10/12/2008 19:01

sunnydale - I reckon temping is the best way to identify ovulation. But does require a bit of effort

this month for example, I didn't ovulate til day 35. I only know this cos my temps went dramatically upwards. If I hadn't been temping I would have been v confused (lengths of cycles are a bit all over shop at moment due to travel, stress and coming off pill in summer)

smileycat · 10/12/2008 20:25

sunnydale I've done temps for the last few months & backed it up with peeing on a stick last month & it made me so much more relaxed last month knowing that I had actually OV'd & when so that I knew when to expect my AF

flibbertywidget · 10/12/2008 21:32

Hi all
I am back from our IVF in Ireland, with two beanies on board., test date is 21st dec. I have a little girl 19 mo. so am busy with her, but trying to take it easy. I think surrealist poetry sounds like a good option.

back to the cramps and twinges and knickers

twoplease · 10/12/2008 21:52

good luck flibberty - will keep everything crossed for you.

wish i could get my head round temping as it would be good to know when ov for definate as i am really not getting on with opks - i think drink too much water to get +'s - does that sound likely? think my dh would balk at temping too - he thinks we are 'trying' too hard already!! that's unfair on him but its so frustrating month after month not being able to make plans for the future isn't it?

not holding out much hope this month as i have sort of 'given up' we are still bding but have let myself have one or two more coffees and glasses of red than i should. remind me of that when i'm v grumpy when i get af!!!

good luck anyone testing soon

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2008 21:55

hi everyone
I know what you mean 2please - I just need to be able to plan stuff!
LadyMetroland where are you? I live in Durham

VillageMum · 11/12/2008 13:10

flibberty, good luck! How wonderful to know that you have two beanies on board!

olivo, I'm sure that your dd waking you up in the night must play havoc with your temps. Great to hear that you've ov'd! I really have no clear idea of when to test because I ov'd a few days early so will just wait and see what happens... if no AF after the 23rd or so then I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and test.

Stealth, do you use early detection hpts then? Can they really tell you anything before 10/12 days or so post ov? (Don't know much about these things!)

VillageMum · 11/12/2008 13:19

VJay, meant to ask you what symptoms you're having! The only reliable changes I've detected in myself (that is, ones which definitely aren't the product of my imagination) are a sudden, ravenous appetite, whereas I've had no appetite for three months since my mc, and daily creamy cm way past ov. But these could be due to other things so I'm not getting my hopes up!

VJayMerrilyOnHigh · 11/12/2008 16:11

Hello everyone, hope you are all being patient!!
vm, I am feeling a bit sicky, but it's because I'm hungry, which is the only symptom so far, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I'm away the weekend of testing, so I think I'll wait until the 22nd when I get back, that's only 11 days away .
Is anyone else having any symptoms?

2manychips · 11/12/2008 17:58

I'm getting little dizzy spells....I got them early with dd and with my cp. Yes I can feel the obsessing is beginning. Tell me to get a grip!
