Hi All, have been on a couple of ttc hreads but due to sad arrival of af yesterday and x2 negative pg testa thought I'd start a September one.

We are ttc#2 we already have dd(2) and had a mc in September this will be cycle 3 since mc.

Mc hit me hard, more so than other adverse life events for some reason also head full of other stuff such as trying to complete a Post grad Diploma in Cognitive Therapy!!

Anyway want to try to be optimistic and hopeful and not (too!) obsessive this month!

Anyone else fancy joining?? xx

Hi there, Can I join you ladies? (as there are 2 september threads - not sure which to join but recognised one or two of you from other threads so hope you don't mind or should i join other one too?)

I am ttc #2, i have a dd who is 4 in two weeks and i was really hoping to have another baby before she went to school next year but that is out the window now - am just focusing on anytime now!!!

am due af on xmas day which could either be really great or bloody rubbish!

I've added myself to the list - hope that's ok?

Af arrived bang on time today. I always get a pain in my thigh followed by spotting and then af so always ready for it.

i know exactly what you mean

JumpingJellyfish · 04/12/2008 20:55

Hello ladies. Was thinking about adding myself to the other Sept thread (hadn't realised at first that there's two!) but am trying not to obsess so will attempt to now check on here too often...
Well don't feel we have BD'd enough this month to really be in with much of a chance- DCs were poorly, then me, then DH, and now me again!! Sorry if TMI but my EWCM has gone now (think it started around CD12 until yest morn) and we only BD'd once during that period so not going to get my hopes up (I keep saying that but of course you do!!). Also am convinced that as I'm not getting much sleep between thesis-writing and DD's night wakening my body will probably not be quite ready for pregnancy...(and in fact I'm quite scared of the thought of coping with a first trimester while finishing the PhD & looking after DD who gets poorly quite a bit in winter...)

anyhow enough rambling from me!

Welcome Bexaa, Gateau, Pinkie and Twoplease! Sorry for recent arrival of AF but hopefully this being the festive season we might all have some better luck

peacelily · 04/12/2008 21:05

Hello everyone great to see some new faces! beginnig to recognise names on these ttc threads now! and I suppose.

Af has just finished (seems to drag on for ages damn her not heavy just drip bloody drip for days). Will start bd this weekend, am taking prgenacare conception and drinking grapefruit juice but trying to be relaxed this month. No ov sticks, only bd on certain days etc. Will just try to be frequent(ish)in that arena!

Due next af on 27th Dec arghhhhh! Don't want to spend xmas day in a state of acute anxiety like last month so will try to chill. MiL with us though so may snap at some point, wanted quiet family xams with just me dh and dd this year but no chance unfortunately.

Handed in essay for post grad today so at least that stress is done for now, one less thing to think about, and am off to Manchester xmas markets tomorrow for some lovely gluhwein!

OP posts:
twoplease · 04/12/2008 22:43

i agree peacelily - don't want to spend xmas worrying about what might be so will test on christmas eve unless af arrives early which it is very likely to do. i am having some blood tests done the week before to check on progesterone level so might have given up before xmas day anyway if i have results by then!!

Good luck jumpingjelly on the 2ww - i hate that bit so hope you find plenty to occupy your time!

TrixieBelden · 05/12/2008 15:14

Hi everyone.

Maiden foray onto Mumsnet for me. Like twoplease, I have a DD who's 4 in two weeks' time and after several years of dithering, DH and I have decided to give no. 2 a try before the well runs dry, so to speak.

AF arrived yesterday, though my cycle's been wonky since I had DD. I bought antenatal vitamins today...the thin edge of the obsessive wedge, I'm sure! DD was embarrassingly easy to create, but am worried no. 2 will be rather less so given my age...

Hope it's okay if I join you.

2manychips · 05/12/2008 19:12

Hey Trixie I'm with you on the age worry! Def taking longer this time. I'll be 38 soon how about you?
Gateau, we're both going for a similar age gap it seems! Good luck all.

TrixieBelden · 06/12/2008 00:17

Ha, 2manychips - 37.5 here! I haven't any idea whether things still work in there. More of my friends have had fertility issues than not, so I'm resigned to this taking a while...

shoptilidrop · 06/12/2008 10:27

HI _ Can i join?
My cycles are starting to settle down 18 months after coming off the pill, all being well i should ov sometime over the next week. Planning to Bd everyother day this month, last month it was everyday on day 10 to 15 and we burnt ourselfs out, then i didnt ov till cd20. Would be lovely to have a september baby...

TrixieBelden · 07/12/2008 14:52

Here's a question for you all, since it's been almost 5 (oh my god has it really been that many?) years since I last used a pregnancy test. Is one brand considered more reliable/responsive than others?

twoplease · 07/12/2008 20:16

hi trixie (and others) - not sure i can answer your test question very well - i have some cheap online ones so that i can use them frequently without caring about money - lots of people swear b clearblue digital because it just says yes or no so y ou have no squinting at faint lines!!

JumpingJellyfish · 07/12/2008 20:45

Evening ladies. Welcome Trixie and shoptilidrop! Let's hope this is a lucky thread
Bubblebell- any news?? Keeping everything crossed that a lovely BFP is on its way...must be awful being in limbo for so long. I have fairly short cycles which is a blessing in many ways!
Trixie- I think if you wait to test until the day AF is actually due then most tests should give a meaningful results. For my last 2 pregnancies I tested after AF was due (at least a day late) just with cheapie Tesco tests which worked instantly. This time round I have also bought some cheap EBay tests (which I've already used up as have no self control this time!) but also have a freebie Clearblue digital too to try. I'm determined this month not to test until the day AF is due- I've been getting spotting before AF really gets going so if no spotting will test on day AF usually comes properly. It is hard in way as cheap tests are so readily available not to test early, especially as many claim to be able to detect very small amounts of HcG so could give a result 4 days or more before AF is due...but when you read the detail only in a fairly small percentage of cases can pregnancy be detected that early...so best really to hold off (she says reminding herself!!). Good luck to all of those just starting the BDing marathon- have a feeling we'll be getting more practise at this next month again as really didn't get enough in this time...but we'll see soon enough

Here's the list for today (I think- please amend if wrong)

Gateau · 08/12/2008 08:52

Hi everyone and welcome any new ones!
Is anyone too tired to BD? (how sad is that!!!), or is it just me???!
For the record, I'm on cycle 1 after mc. Now on CD10.
Jumpingjellyfish, where are you from in N.Ireland? I'm from Belfast but live in England. We are moving back there though as I love the place and miss it desperately! Am off there for Christmas and the New Year.

irishmumwannabe · 08/12/2008 11:12

Hi, can I join in ? I am on TTC#1, 26 day cycle (for the past 2 months anyway since I started checking all this out) and CD 20. I have been lurking for about 2 months and decided to join in at last.

I'm really hoping this month is the one - fingers crossed eh? I know I'm only starting TTc and it might not happen that quickly but here's hoping.

evie2000 · 08/12/2008 11:13

Hi all - can I say hello and join you all. I'm on month number 6 of trying, was on the august ttc thread and was really sad this month but feel I need to get back on it and this seems a happy bunch! Have update the list - have I done it right? Good luck to all.

Hi all and all the new ones, everyone very welcoming here so its usually fun.

CD 5 for me gateau and i am wondering about the tiredness too. I think its the pressure we all put ourselves under.

This weekend we managed a spontaneous moment very rare thing in our house at present

We tend to work on everyother day and then everyday when get near ov

ForcesSweetheart · 08/12/2008 17:45

Hiya
Have stuck my name on list. Coming over from Aug thread. On CD10 today. Wasn't supposed to be trying officially until I got the OK from my diabetic care team - which I finally got last week - but in reality this is our third month of trying (I knew they were gonna give me the OK, just had to wait around for an appointment!) DH works away Sunday-Friday so really limited on opportunities which isn't helping I suspect.
We're trying to conceive number 2, and hoping it won't take the 18 months she took. I had gastric bypass surgery in January and have lost 7 stone so far so hopefully that will improve our chances.
Best of luck everyone! Here's hoping we have our Christmas wishes.

tengreenbottles · 08/12/2008 18:26

hello can i join too ?
Never done this trying to concieve malarky before ,both my children were welcome accidents ! So now im trying to concieve #3 and dont understand half the terminology on here so you will have to bear with me , dont know how i work out my cycle day ,how grapefruit juice affects anything ,but do know my age (37) is against me .Dont even know when im supposed to ovulate !

evie2000 · 08/12/2008 19:05

hello all....and sending happy vibes and baby dust to us all.
Forcessweetheart can I just tell you something - you are amazing. I just had a flick on your pictures (cos I'm putting off cooking dinner)- what a feat - what an inspiration. well done you. I really hope you don't mind me saying anything but seriously - fantastic girl- must have taken so much. good on you!

So....to the rest of us mere mortals on we go

Tengreen bottles fear not I know what you mean but for any help I can tell you - your first cycle day (CD) is first day of your period and if you're stuck on knowing when you ovulate there are some very good test sticks around which help....but also a very good but very long book called Fertility Awaremenes Method (the exact name i'll tell you if you're interested) and it talks about charting both using temperature but also spotting the obvious signs our body gives us.
anyway - lucky you not having to concentrate first times around! Hopefully this one won't take too long either.

tengreenbottles · 08/12/2008 19:18

Evie ,thanks for the clarification ! as for testing and charting ,im going to leave that for at least six months when no doubt i will be reading and consuming every known aid and bit of knowledge !

JumpingJellyfish · 08/12/2008 21:57

Hi everyone! Good to see so many joining the list!

Gateau I'm originally from England (New Forest, near Southampton)- moved over here years ago (for work, then met DH, and now will probably never leave!!)- lived in Belfast for first 3 yrs, then Dunmurry for 2 and now have been up in Portstewart for 2 years, where we are hoping to stay (both have found jobs we like, love being so close to the sea too!). Hope you can find an easy way to move back! Good luck with TTC too

Forcessweetheart you are indeed an inspiration. Really hope you are lucky this month

Tengreenbottles like you my first 2 were conceived v v easily but finding it harder this time! Though am also trying not to obsess, so haven't been charting or using OPKs or anything yet. I think I won't go down this route until after I've finished writing up my thesis as that's consuming enough of my brain without getting too hung up on TTC (hoping though it'll just happen!)

JumpingJellyfish · 08/12/2008 22:00

PS. bubblebell really hope your GP was helpful and offered some tests rather than just saying "wait for AF"- let us know!

irishmumwannabe my cycle is also usually 26 days and I'm a day behind you- have you worked out when you might test or will you try to wait until after AF is due? Good luck!
