Hi All, have been on a couple of ttc hreads but due to sad arrival of af yesterday and x2 negative pg testa thought I'd start a September one.

We are ttc#2 we already have dd(2) and had a mc in September this will be cycle 3 since mc.

Mc hit me hard, more so than other adverse life events for some reason also head full of other stuff such as trying to complete a Post grad Diploma in Cognitive Therapy!!

Anyway want to try to be optimistic and hopeful and not (too!) obsessive this month!

Anyone else fancy joining?? xx

Honey and lemon sounds fab HeadFairy - will make myself a cup now

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 18:03

I'm a real sweet tooth and add maybe a bit too much honey than is strictly good for me, but it's very soothing! Hope you feel better soon

Joy27 · 07/01/2009 18:33

Oh good. Am glad others have level headed approach to small glasses of wine. TBH did not abstain at christmas, even though poss conception would be Christmas Eve or thereabouts. Others may judge, but I will just stress myself out if, for half of every month, I behave as if pg just in case. I'll just convince myself I am and be crushed. That does not make for a happy me or a happy uterus. I am a woman not just a potential baby vessel!
Of course, once I get a BFP I'll be an angel.

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 18:41

So right Joy! You enjoy your wine Personally I'll be tucking in to a big plate of blue cheese tonight

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 18:58

Well done to those of you who got BFP's this month.
Im off to the October thread, AF arived right on cue

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 19:04

oh so sorry to hear that moss... I'll prob be joining you on the Oct thread very soon, due on tomorrow.

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 19:06

Thanks headfairy, I cant tell you how gutted I feel (and I feel very selfish saying that given there are people on here who have been trying for ages).

I will be keeping everything crossed for you and that BFP

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 19:08

Aw, poor love, it's rotten isn't it? Can you console yourself with some cd1 treats (large bottle glass of wine)?

bubblebell1 · 07/01/2009 19:14

Moss i hope your ok. thinking of you and sending hugs yourway. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

bubblebell1 · 07/01/2009 19:16

how are you head? when will you be testing?? im on the oct thread now aswell but i cant leave you girls yet.. only on cd4 so gonna have a glass of baileys and then a relaxin bath before the bd marathon starts in a few days.

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 19:20

I was just thinking of what nastiness I could get up to tomorrow to console myself!

Thanks bubble, will see you on October thread

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 19:20

I'm ok thanks bubble, not planning on testing any time soon as I've started spotting which usually means af is on her way. Not too down as I expected it after the cold from hell put paid to much of my bd plans. Will no doubt see you on the oct thread, but not going to move until I'm definitely sure (which'll probably be sometime tomorrow )

Hello all, and welcome Joy and Tiredmummy. Joy, I agree with your feelings about drinking and ttc - it's hard enough without spending two weeks of every month not drinking. I got drunker than I meant to on New Years Eve, but apart from that not a drop has passed my lips. In retrospect I feel really worried about New Years Eve as it was CD14 and so, technically, the day of ovulation. But it's done now - I can only be good moving forwards. I do worry it jeopardised my chances, though.
Anyway enough of that - big congrats to Minx! Your name change was indeed lucky! Check in soon and let us know how you're doing.
Well, I'm on CD21 and sympton-spotting like a maniac. On my first day back at work after the hols, I walked straight into a v stressful situation and felt it in my tummy - can't quite put it into words but it was like my ovaries / uterus felt tight from the stress - a very bizarre sensation. Since then I wake up symptom free then by evening feel the tight sensation again. I can hardly bear to hope. Terrified I am, terrified I amn't. But I have a question: when some of you talk about not testing till after AF is due, don't you ever want to know earlier - even if it doesn't stick, just to know that you weren't imagining the symptoms? Not sure if I'm making sense. Totally agree that it's better to test as late as poss, but... I dunno... if it is a "chemical" pregnancy I think I'd rather know than have it pass without ever knowing. Does that sound weird? Sorry, I'm waffling, will go now (sunnydale gets her coat)

JumpingJellyfish · 07/01/2009 21:22

just popping on quickly-
so sorry moss that AF arraived Really hope this next cycle is your lucky month. I have started getting AF pains too so imagine in next few days I'll be joining you on the Oct thread (already making myself feel better thinking well a baby due in Sept would be the same time DS starts primary school, which could be stressful for us all- so Oct would be better really...!)

headfairy really hope AF stays away, but like you I also get spotting a couple of days before, then nothing for a day or so, then full-blown AF (in fact I'm expecting spotting to start tomorrow...)- in a way it can be nice to have warning of AF but for a few cycles I used to try to delude myself into believing they might have been implantation bleeds...I guess you never know!

Welcome Joy and vtiredmummy- good luck this month!

MINX- huge Congrats! so so pleased for you. Have everything crossed the lil' bean is sticky xx

I drink lots of herbal teas too- love Rooibos (which you can add milk to like normal tea if you like it that way), also a fan of ginger tea (v good for seasickness or morning sickness), peppermint tea, camomile, and green tea (though the last has some caffeine in- not as much I think as regular tea, and far more antioxidants, but shouldn't drink too much of it when pg...). Some of the herbal/fruit teas smell much better than they actually taste, but a touch of honey can often make them more palatable!

Not symptom spotting at all as so far all signs are AF's on her way (probably a short cycle this time methinks- I seem to range 24-28 days). But hoping you ladies keep adding to that BFP list!

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 21:28

jumpingjelly thats great and true, my ds starts primary in sept too, so maybe his mummy having a new baby at the same time would not be a good thing, October will do me just fine
As long as I get in before Xmas so I dont have to work another xmas off-duty lol

JumpingJellyfish · 07/01/2009 21:30

sunnydale x-posted with you- I think I know what you mean about wanting to test before AF is due, especially if you feel you have symptoms. I didn't test early with my previous pregnancies but that was partly because we weren't properly trying and didn't think it would happen so fast- so the only reason I tested was because it finally dawned on me AF was 2+ days late. Saying that the test gave a very rapid & unambigious BFP for which I was very grateful... But since we've been TTC this time (on cycle 7 now) I have really struggled not to test early (and have tested early I think 5 times! ). I really can't bear the wait, and my early pregnancy symptoms are just so similar to my usual AF ones... Plus I guess I've wanted to know asap in case I needed to change any habits too (my DS has to have a nasty cream applied which I shouldn't touch when pregnant, and sometimes I deal with nasty chemicals at work).
Anyway am determined not to test early this time as have no tests at home and don't want to shell out on any more and feel that awful disappointment yet again...

Also like you I drank a bit more than I'd planned on NYE (CD15 for me, so v likely just past ov)- but decided to stop worrying about it for now! Hope this is your lucky month x

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 22:53

Sunny, on the testing early front, I'm the opposite. I'd rather not know if it was a chem pregnancy. I'm only interested in pregnancies that are going to stick iykwim. Obv last time I tested I got a bfp but miscarried a week later and there was nothing I could do about that, but I'm not sure how knowing I'd had a pregnancy that failed to implant would help me. I think it might just depress me and make me paranoid that my cs damaged my uterus or something silly. Maybe I'm just to much a bury my head in the sand type.

KatB · 08/01/2009 01:29

So when's the earliest you can test to get an accurate result? I know obv you might get a BFN if not enough HCG in system but what's the earliest you can really get a BFP??

I have some ebay cheapies so it'll probably show a BFP when I'm about 20 weeks gone but are the first response ones any good??

Thanks!

HeadFairy · 08/01/2009 08:01

I think it varies from person to person, I've heard of people on here not getting a bfp until they're 10 weeks gone, and some getting a bfp 4 or 5 days before af is due. I've never tested before I was due on so I've never found out if I could get a pos result before af was due...

irishmumwannabe · 08/01/2009 08:23

Head love teh pelicans in James' Park - lol.

Mosschops I'm so sorry AF got you hopefully next month will be better for you.

Bubble I might be joining you on October on Monday - it looks like a busy thread already.

I'm kind of ambiguous with the early testgin - tested early last month and obv got BFN so this month I'm actually being quite restrained. Am due on Monday (or Sunday depending on which day my cycle wants to end this time) so am going to hold off until at least Sunday. I'm sure if I go for very much longer with the ttcing I'll be a demon tester

Feel a bit nauseous (sp?) today but not taking too much frmo that. Am going to jsut take teh symptons as they come and then see what the weekend brings

Hope those testing get some great results.

smallone · 08/01/2009 09:17

I'm in the wine drinking camp too! When I got pg with dd, I drank more in the week4-5 than I had in a year! I had no idea I was pregnant at the time and she was absolutely fine. Now I'm ttc I drink the odd wine or baileys or sherry on the off chance that its the last I'll have in a while. Nine months is long enough to abstain, without adding ttc time.

As for testing early, I only want to know if its going to stick around and I don't want to look at a BFN and think "but if I waited a few more days...." Torture!

Talked to DH last night, and said AF hadn't come yet, he said "oh right...is there anything on tv tonight?" It seems he thinks I can't poss be pg as we haven't had enough sex.

Didn't test today as got AF cramps, will test tomorrow I think if no show today.

headfairy sorry to hear about spotting.

mosschops I think we all know that crushing disappointment you're feeling. Good luck with your next cycle.

Joy27 · 08/01/2009 09:25

Haha smallone- love your hubby's belief that quantity = baby. My bf, on the other hand, is convinced that his sperm is "super sperm" (this is based on zero evidence) which undoubtedly survives longer than the max 5 days or whatever it is. Gotta love the confidence. Sorry if I've missed this in an ealier post, but how late are you?

I'm now on Day 30 with no sign of period (longest cycle since mc 6 months ago has been 28 days). However I did have flu at the start of my cycle which maybe could have pushed ovulation back a bit.. I think...?

I've decided to test on Monday, which will be Day 34 (providing period has not arrived). When is anyone else testing?

smallone · 08/01/2009 09:57

Hi joy, glad its not just me whos other half thinks they are the authority on conception.

I'm cd30 of 26-30, so also my longest, haven't gone to 30 days for ages tho, trying not to give in to thoughts at the mo but my boobs seem to be growing by the hour, although that could just be af. I've developed all sorts of af symptoms since ttc that I swear I never had before. AF cramps have gone again. My Noro virus def moved my ov by 5 days as I had two peaks on the persona sticks. Today is also 14DPO (the second peak)

irishmumwannabe · 08/01/2009 11:24

Joy I am also testing on Monday which is teh day AF is due for me - how cool woudl it be if we both got BFPS then! (That is as long as I can hold out and not test until Monday)

Joy27 · 08/01/2009 11:29

Gah. Will be very annoyed if we are sitting here feeling excited, only to be fooled by horrid winter viruses messing with us and getting our hopes up!

You have to admit though, it's seeming sort of promising. Like you I don't feel like I should at end of cycle- no pg symptoms as such BUT it's the total lack of "period coming" signs which is making me think I just might be. No spotting, no cramps, nowt.

My bosoms are also massive (more massive than usual, ha ha) but it's hard to trust that sypmtom as it could be either af or pg.

So, is anyone else late too?
