Hi All, have been on a couple of ttc hreads but due to sad arrival of af yesterday and x2 negative pg testa thought I'd start a September one.

We are ttc#2 we already have dd(2) and had a mc in September this will be cycle 3 since mc.

Mc hit me hard, more so than other adverse life events for some reason also head full of other stuff such as trying to complete a Post grad Diploma in Cognitive Therapy!!

Anyway want to try to be optimistic and hopeful and not (too!) obsessive this month!

Anyone else fancy joining?? xx

My bf and I currently share a house, is what I meant to say.

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 12:32

Hiya joy, welcome. I'm a stickler for holding out on the testing front. If it were me, I'd hold out until next weekend when your flatmate is out again then you can dance around and sing and shout! You're also more likely to get a bfp if you still haven't started af, I've had some longer cycles since my mc, I used to be exactly 28 days with the occasional 26 dayer, but since my mc they've ranged from 25 to 31 days. I don't want to dash your hopes, but I'm a firm believer in testing when you kind of know it's going to be a bfp anyway. So much nicer!

I've been wracking my brains the past couple of days trying to remember what I felt when I was pg with ds. Now I've been pg it's so hard to remember what it's like at the end of the 2ww when you're pg for the first time iyswim. Sorry, I haven't put that terribly well.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do though. I hope it's a bfp for the new year!

Joy27 · 07/01/2009 12:50

HeadFairy, I think you're right. After all, if I am pg then I will still be (hopefully!) in a week's time. Also, those little pee sticks cost a bomb!

I'm going to try not to get hung up. When I was pg last year, I managed to go for 7 weeks without even realising (long story). So unless I get actual morning sickness, I'm not going to speculate.

It's so frustrating waiting though! Especially as I would now feel guilty having a glass of wine to relax.

Thanks for the advice.

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 12:59

welcome to joy and vtired good luck

Just to let you know that all clearblue proiducts are 20% off in sainsburys but I resisted buying one just yet, as I promised myself no more until friday.

Fantastic news minx what a great way to start the new year

WarmSeaBreeze · 07/01/2009 13:13

Congrats Minx soo pleased for u!! xx

Joy, good luck holding out. It's really hard but feel free to come on here in your moments of weakness and I'll talk you out of it Like you said, the only bummer is avoiding all those things you're not supposed to have. My philosophy on that is that ttc is bad enough without having to deny yourself everything. I've been drinking the past two weeks, nothing major, I haven't been drunk, but I've had more than two units a week as is the recommended max level during pregnancy. My thinking has always been it's crap enough so why deny yourself too much (I would stop at getting blind drunk) but so many people have got drunk without knowing they're pg and haven't damaged their babies. The problems occur with sustained high levels of drinking. Of course once it was confirmed I would stop drinking straight away but until that point I figure a glass of wine a day won't kill.

I was thinking about baths today too, I had a lovely two hours after I'd dropped ds off at the cm and before I had to leave for work so I decided to have a nice leisurely bath. I do like a nice hot bath too, but I made sure it wasn't scalding as I'd normally have it, but I do think that's about the only concession to ttc that I'd make. That and obviously contraindicated medications of course!

So all in all, I'd have that glass of wine if it helps you relax a bit. It really won't do any harm.

irishmumwannabe · 07/01/2009 13:44

Hello Joy and vtiredmummy welcome to the ttc party!

Sorry to hear abotu you DH vtired - I hope things work out ok for you both.

Joy I'm with Head on this one - have a glass of wine - one won't do any damage and might even help (less stress = poss BFP)

Minx I would be one for my herbal teas - there are some lovely ones on the market. Mint tea is good for an upset stomach so might help with the morning sickness, Ginger is also good as Head was saying.

I am drinking rooibos (sp) at the mo, and also drink camomile as well - helps to get to sleep. DH is drinking Puerhh tea which has blackcurrant added to it - it is also very good if you like Berry teas. Then tehre is a Berry tea that Tetleys make which I used to love but can't get over here in Ireland.

Tetelys adn Twinings are all good with teh herbal blends. Tesco have some as well I think but never really tried them . If you are near a Whittards tehy might be able to advise you on other blends - but not sure.

Hope this helps adn I'm going back to work befoer you all think I am a complete freak with my various teas

irishmumwannabe · 07/01/2009 13:45

Gosh - maybe I'l send a suggestion for a spell checker on the post pages - might spare my blushes

smallone · 07/01/2009 14:32

Hi everyone, can I join you in my hour of need? Have been ttc#2 for 5 cycles now, been on some of the earlier boards but was so p'd off with it I've stayed away for this month. I'm now on CD 28 of a 26-30 day cycle. I've got a CB +/- test in my drawer that I've told myself will be not be negative so I can't use it till I'm pretty sure I'll get the right result. Practically threw myself into the loo this morning to I could get rid of that FMU before thinking about breaking out the test. I was hopeful but I've now got af cramps.

I'm using the persona monitor for the first time this month. Its what I was using as contraception when I conceived DD so I'm hoping it'll help me out now. According to persona I ov'd day 9/10 but I was really ill so no bd but then I had a second surge christmas day, when I did manage it! I'm hoping this was a delayed ov coz of illness, but since christmas I've had a bronchitisy fluey thing so if I am pg poor bean will have been cooked by raging temp and pickled with paracetamol!

Good luck to everyone else

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 14:35

Hiya smallone, you're still my cycle buddy! We can hold hands together, I'm trying not to think about it - lalalalalala

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 14:37

We really are living parallel lives smallone, I had exactly the same horrendous bug, with bronchitis an' all.... not using persona but I reckon I ov'd on about Christmas day so managed one pathetic bd before collapsing back in bed, and have been dosed up to the eyeballs with paracetamol since! Spooky eh?

smallone · 07/01/2009 14:42

I fear we may have been separated at birth! You're much stronger than me about not testing tho! I'm thinking about testing tomorrow am. That would be my longest possible cycle day. What do you think? Clearblue reckons its over 99% accurate on the day AF due but I'm not so sure.

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 14:49

I don't even have any tests.... mind you if I did have any in the house I'd be in the bathroom right now hahahahahaha! It's like chocolate biscuits, I can't have them in the house as I've got no self control. I'm such a skinflint I'd wait until I was definitely late so I wouldn't waste an opk, and I don't consider myself properly late until cd34 or 35.

smallone · 07/01/2009 14:57

The only reason I've got this one is coz its from a pack of two. I decided that it was going to be the last one I was going to buy and this was the one that was going to be pos. Its managed to get through the last two cycles! Maybe I'll wait til sat, am going out sat night so want to know re alcohol etc.

Theres a little voice in my head thats saying "but if you test now, you could start celebrating now" aaaggghhh

I want to hold out but who knows! This was so much easier with dd, didn't test til cd36 coz I was so convinced I wasn't pg and didn't want to waste money on a test. That went pos within nanoseconds with the biggest fattest bluest line you've ever seen.

smallone · 07/01/2009 15:00

Right my alloted time on laptop has now ended as I can hear the end music of in the night garden! Good luck everyone

KatB · 07/01/2009 15:01

YEY Minx, congrats!

Headfairy - might be implantation bleeding? It aint over yet Missus and it only takes one time to get pregnant

I'm only on CD19 and I'm going crazy symptom spotting.... need to find some self control and think about something else like my pile of essays and dissertation

olivo · 07/01/2009 15:04

congratulations, minx! brilliant news. and regarding teas, i'm quaffing loads of peppermint at the moment to quell the queasiness.
hello to everyone else, still checking up on you

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 15:04

Oh Kat, don't get even start me thinking along those lines lalalalalalalala

KatB · 07/01/2009 15:05
HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 15:09

Have you seen the pelicans at St James's park? That was always what my mum used to say when she wanted to change the subject from something a bit awkward or tricky!

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 15:10

pelicans in St James's park

KatB · 07/01/2009 15:23

I have now

Anyway have to pick my middle munchkin up from school then all the making tea palaver so that'll keep me out of mischief for a few hours.

xx

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 15:27

Enjoy! (I love that whole teatime/bathtime/bedtime nightmare fun!)

vtiredmummy · 07/01/2009 16:49

Back online again...supposed to be working from home but cannot focus!

Have rotten cough at mo - can I ask a stupid question can coughing hard loads un-implant an embryo???

Just incase I am pg, don't want to cough and dislodge the poor thing!

Have found a positive re DH redundancy - he has vowed not to work a second past his contractual hours (he's v conscientious and usually works late) so he'll be home earlier every day til job finishes. Sod 'em!

HeadFairy · 07/01/2009 17:00

You can't dislodge a baby by coughing vtiredmummy, I used to run alot and I was always concerned when I was ttc ds, but was reassured by lots of people (fertility consultant included) that running, jumping, coughing, sneezing etc etc can't affect implantation and early pregnancy. It's irritating because I've had a terrible cough too and I've avoided all cough mixtures in case. Been playing havoc with my sleep. Had lots of honey and lemon drinks which do at least soothe my poor throat, I can heartily recommend it!
