GG just so you know, there is nothing to stop you from going private now. If you call up the private people and explain the situation, they may agree to see you now with a view to starting things again when you have had the requisite number of normal cycles. Although I guess 7 May is not that far away, and might be before 2 cycles have passed (keep forgetting we're at the end of March already).

I am still looking for a job (have an interview tomorrow morning) but if I don't find anything decent in the next 2 months I will have to give up I think, since then my condition will be obvious.

I'm planning a hospital birth at the whittington, but want private midwives to ensure continuity of care and to be my safety net while I labour at home. When I had DD at QC my experience was truly dreadful - I never saw the same person twice, the midwives were taciturn and all they did was look at the monitors and frighten me. They intervened all over the place and I ended up with a (dreaded) section which was probably the cause of my ectopics. Anything to get me out of that system this time!

Right, DD and I are off to the shops, so apologies for the me post, and I'll be back later to check on you all.

GorgonsGin · 24/03/2009 10:32

MrsH - yes, i think we could go private now. I'm going to phone up and see what they say. I have to wait for two AF's to do anything and that will take me to mid/end of May, followed by a wait before starting the drugs at CD21, so there is no time advantage and I'd like to hear what the consultant has to say at least.

Discussing it with DH last night, we'd probably stick with Hammersmith because (apart from the interminable bl**dy waiting) we have been happy there. It is convenient, the staff are fantastic. Costs wise, it looks fairly reasonable and reassuringly transparent. I am going to check out UCH too, but I'm a little worried about changing horses, which may mean new tests/more time/more costs/more confusion. Looking at the Lister website, we'd have to do everything all over again.

BuckyIsLucky · 24/03/2009 22:31

Hey everyone, just dropping in. I am soooooooo stressed I could die. . I really thought I could sit on my arse for a couple of years till the crunch was over but they are working me like a dog . No time for MN .

GG glad you feel more positive now you can consider going private. You just need to do what is best for you. I agree hearing what the consultant has to say at your May appointment is probably a good idea as you can go private that month anyway should you choose. My cycle went back to normal after the November debacle straight away but even though the BFP was after AF was due, I guess it was a CP. The later MC was a little different, ov was a little later but not massively...I usually ov around CD16 and it was maybe around CD20.

Nothing to report here. I am so shattered, and now have socialised with more architects that I could have ever wished to have known. TTC seems like a distant memory, far from reality. My appointment is coming up in a few weeks though it will be weird. I saw an article on IVF and birth defects which totally freaked me out so now I am questioning everything. . But you all know by now that I am the world's worst overthinker....

Anyway, I was just dropping by and wanted to send you higs. Hope you are all doing good today. xx

GorgonsGin · 25/03/2009 18:11

HappyandEiknowit · 25/03/2009 21:11

BuckyIsLucky · 25/03/2009 21:14

I'm here but I am not saying anything because I am only capable of moaning and whining today .

HappyandEiknowit · 25/03/2009 21:35

whats up bucky? rant away if you need to
xx ei xx

GorgonsGin · 26/03/2009 14:44

hello ei - how ar eyou doing? Any more news abotu the blood tests and getting time off?

I haven't called the IVF people yet. I have been a bit swamped at work and get no bloomin' privacy round here to do it in working hours, but I'll call tomorrow.

Bucky - don't worry about moaning!! What's up? Being worked too hard?

Caitni · 26/03/2009 16:28

Afternoon ladies

GG glad to hear your DH has been so good about the private route. Sounds like Hammersmith is an excellent choice as you already know the drill . Sorry to hear you're busy at work but at least it helps with time passing...

MrsH great that you've sorted out a private midwife as it will so help get over teh memories of your ECS with your dd. I think I'd be tempted to do the same, even without a horrible experience, as I am always so when I hear of women in labour who don't see the same midwife twice etc etc

Bucky poor you and your work stress. Sounds like they're working you way too hard! Moan away as that's what we're hear for

Ei hope you shifted that headache. We're nearly cycle buddies I think so I'll be wishing the luck of the Oirish on you for you to get lucky this month (especially as your DD was born Jan 8 wasn't she? I'm not your stalker btw it just that's my DH's birthday too, and Elvis's and David Bowie's, so if you conceive this month it would make Xmas/New Year even more of a party time in your household ).

Waves to PnM and MOB and everyone. Hope everyone's in good form.

This was supposed to be just a quick from me as am busy busy both at work and with various people staying at the moment so not much time for t'internet in the day or at night. Am also trying to keep my distance from MN as need to get out of ttc mode (as cannot be dealing with the depressed feelings I had after AF arrived again last week) and into facing IVF reality mode (so have arranged a meeting with HR to discuss how to handle getting time off etc and am going to book in for some hormone bloods at the start of the next cycle).

caitni xx

MrsHappy · 30/03/2009 21:45

Hello all

Sorry I haven't been around much. I am waiting for my all day morning sickness to bugger off and in the meantime find looking at the computer for long a bit of a trial!

Bucky why so cross? Is it work or something more important? (you can see how I feel about work now I don't have any!...)

GG Have you called the clinic yet? Are you feeling ok? Any sign of that egg?

Caitni I hop things are ok, that the guests left without outstaying thir welcome and that you are managing to get your head out of TTC mode as much as you need.

Ei no, you are not the only one around. How are things with you? where are you in your cycle?

Are you around, PnM and MOB?

Not a lot going on here. I sit around on my vastly expanding bum and every so often think of some bizarre food that I haven't eaten in years but which I must have NOW. You know, pickled onions, Herta frankfurters, minty flavour Matchmakers, refreshers, pot noodles, peanut butter etc. I bought a year's supply of cheese-stuffed chilis as the Ally Pally farmers' market and ate them with a whole packet of wafer thin salami. Oh the shame. Not surprisingly I am feeling a little bloated!! Today my left nip started tweaking in exactly the same way it did when I had a let-down reflex. It's all a bit disgusting really... Am booking at the hospital this week and then have my nuchal scan thingy next week. Private midwife is coming round to book me into her system on Wednesday, and so it is all go. Now I just need to concentrate on how this thing is going to get out of my delicate fanny. Eeek!

GorgonsGin · 31/03/2009 10:14

hello there!

i am about too. Sorry for the lack of communication. I was stuffed at work and then busy all weekend/

MrsH - PMSL at scoffing the salami and the cheese stuffed chillis. YUM! what better thime to enjoy your food when you are PG That's great that you are sorted out with the private midwife - do you know what hospital you are going to yet? Hope the monring sickness is easing off. Did you get it badly last time?

ei - how is work with you? Did you sort out the blood test in the end. I hoep you are feeling better form last week.

caitni - that's really sensible of you to meet HR to discuss your IVF and time off. MrsH will correct me if I am wrong, but i am sure there is case law which says that you have to permit peopel the time off for IVF and cannot discriminate (good to know in uncretain economic times). I was surprised how little time off you need and how easy it is to get on with your daily life. I think that's because all scans and blood tests seem to be scheduled at 7.00am (on the NHS), so its tough to get out of bed, but it doesn't interfere with the office nearly as much as I thought. I was lucky though and didn't have too much trouble with side effects from the drugs. Have you decided on timing for yoru first cycle or a hospital yet? It's good you are getting yoruself in the zone.

Bucky - don't be stressed at work. Come and post all your troubles here Let's do lunch later in the week

I called the private clinic last Friday and I have an appointment on 7th April with the consultant at Hammersmith Hospital and we'll take it from there. I am so pleased we are getting the ball rolling again and I think DH is too. He and I have been getting on brilliantly recently and we are so ready to try again. I know some people want a break, but we are sure we are doign the right thing. It looks like my cycle is getting back on track - I got EWCM yesterday, so I am very pleased and think that makes me about 14 days out of kilter. Old habits die hard, so knowing I had EWCM, I pounced on DH last night.....even if we can't manage any DBs the old fashioned way

hello to everyone else I have missed

GGx

MrsHappy · 31/03/2009 14:16

Just a quickie to say well done to GG for getting that appointment sorted. If you feel emotionally ready then it is time to get on with things.

Caitni GG is right that any adverse treatment by your employer because you were having time off for IVF would be sex discrimination. So don't worry on that front, especially as you are giving HR a heads-up.

Does anyone want some Pre-seed? I have 10 sachets (the pre-loaded pipette thingies) floating about and I need the drawer space...

HappyandEiknowit · 31/03/2009 23:44

hi ladies
just a quickie to say hello and i hope everyone is doin g well
il catch up properly tomorrow at a more decent hour
xx ei xx

Madoldbird · 01/04/2009 07:00

A quickie from me as well... have been lurking once in a while to keep up with news, but have been incredibly busy the past week or so.

GG delighted to hear you've got a private appt. You and DH sound so positive, I know you will get there in the end. You sound physically and mentally ready to be thinking about the next cycle, so i think you're doing the right thing by going private and moving things forward.

Hope everyone else is well. My bump is getting huge now, and the babies are making their presence felt. It feels like they are either wrestling, or playing football / rugby in there. Probably all 3! Must put a "bump" photo on FB.

MrsHappy · 01/04/2009 11:25

I also have an unopened jar of Vitafem, which is the Zita West fertility vitamin. If anyone wants them, pipe up and I will get them to you.

Nice to see you MOB. I'm glad it is all well and that the chicks are wriggling around like healthy chicks should.

BuckyIsLucky · 01/04/2009 12:44

I'm here lurking and still grumpy. . Super super busy at work but thought I'd give you all a quick shout out. x

JollyBear · 01/04/2009 20:21

Hello everyone,

caitni I hope the chat with work went well and they are going to be supportive. It is good to set things out so they know why you might need time off at short notice.

GG Fantastic news about the appointment. It's great that old habits aren't dying off, you never know... It's great that you are both happy and ready to give it another go.

Bucky Boo to work, how are things with you? Either of your canines been nibbling your shoes recently?

ei Hope that late night was for fun rather than insomnia.

MOB It's is so cute to think of your boys wiggling around together. I wish I was on FB so I could see your bump!

MrsH Hope the sickness isn't too awful. 7-up became my drink of choice and I've never been a fan before or since. Very odd!

Hello PnM, hope you are well and not working too hard.

Everything is fine in the Jollybear household. DD has sprouted a tooth. It's rather early and I'm fearing she's going to look like a baby with dentures if she gets any more .

Caitni · 03/04/2009 11:59

Hi everyone,

happy Friday!

JollyBear lol at the baby with dentures comment . I love when babies get their first tooth, they're just so cute when they smile (all the babies in my extended family are bald too at that stage and I just love the bald/gummy/one tooth combo ). Hope she doesn't suffer too much with the teething though!

Bucky know the pain with the busy work - thank god it's nearly the weekend

GG yay for the app on 7th April! That's so soon . I think you're smart not to leave it any longer, as it's still such a time consuming process with all the downregging and all that. I'm so happy that things are moving forward for you

MrsH can't wait to hear how your scan goes next week. And am loving the foods you've been eating . I was reading last night in my current book that tastes are influenced even in utero as what the mother eats gets into the amniotic fluid. So eating a wide variety of tastes when preggers helps a child to like a variety of tastes. Sounds like you're doing a good job to me . Oh and I'd love the Zita West vits if they're still going, I keep meaning to buy them but bulk bought so many pro-natal vits when still in Brighton that I'm still using them (but onto the last jar now!).

MOB yay for the wrestling rugby chicks! I'm with MrsH and giving your bump a nice non-creepy pat. I'll have to look you up on Facebook and add you as a friend (in fact, should do that with everyone as am only friends with Bucky I think - at my general Facebook rubbishness!)

Ei hope you enjoyed the shagfest stage of your cycle . Have you ovulated yet? I'm 3 dpo now and I think we're pretty close in our cycles?

PnM hello! Hope things are good with you. Bet it's been lovely in your neck of the woods with all this lovely sunny weather

Well I had a great chat with HR on Tues and, on the HR consultant's advice, I've decided to tell my line manager. I know that he and his wife had some assistance having their son last Christmas (though he's said they didn't need to go the full IVF route) so am hoping he'll fully understand and help me keep it utterly secret. My DH also said he'd like to know if one of his team was going through it, if only to dampen down any sort of "crikey, so and so is off sick loads" comments. I'm going to book in for my day 3 bloods at the Lister at the start of my next cycle and start to plan the dates to start downregging etc [gulp]. So of course am now just paranoid that my FSH will have somehow shot up past 10 since my last tests in November...reckon I just always need something to worry about

Am so freakin' glad it's Friday btw. And next weekend is Easter so we're off camper vanning it in Wales (we're heading to Snowdonia). Roll on having a break from work/London!!

Caitni xx

HappyandEiknowit · 05/04/2009 09:57

BuckyIsLucky · 05/04/2009 12:07

Wow Caitni good for you , hope it all goes well.

I have no idea what CD I am on, I think I ov. early though so shoud be in the 2ww. But truly no idea...which is something of a miracle for me. I think being so busy at work has refocussed my attention.

GG I really will try hard this week. Let me know what days you are free and we will work something out.

Sorry I am being rubbish at posting recently. There is just nothing interesting re ttc to report. I do read what you are all up to though and lurk around making a nuisance of myself. I am finding all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff venturing into other topics......

Isn't the weather LOVELY. I just want to stay outside all the time...

PicknMix · 05/04/2009 14:03

Hello all.....

Apologies from me also for my absence. I appear to be rivalling Bucky in terms of busyness at work and haven't been home much before 9 each evening this week. Have next week off though (yay!) although am now working the Monday in order to catch up on the bits I didn't get finished by Friday (boo).

Anyway....

Caitni am so chuffed for you that things are beginning to take shape and really hope your line manager is understanding. Hope also that your head is in a good place as you have been trying to get 'in the zone' for a while - how has the acupuncture been going?

Awwww at Jollycubs first tooth !! Hope the new pegs aren't hassling her too much?

Hope DH is still able to walk EI after your stirling efforts this month!? Really do have everything crossed for you

Hello MrsH - hope the ms isn't giving you too much grief (although must be slightly weirdly comforting at the same time?!) and yay to giving in to all your hunger needs! Am looking forward to hearing about the scan and am happy you have private midwife sorted out - sounds like you really need the continuity this will give you after your experience last time with your DD.

Wow at the speedy appt GG, its brill that you and DH are ready to start the whole process again. Will be thinking of you on Tuesday.

IKWYM Bucky re not knowing what cd your on due to other 'life' pressures - I had to look it up in my diary as the evil witch appeared yesterday (). Glad for you though, its good to be refocussed on something else I find, although are you finding work v stressful at the moment? I'm finding it too stressful which has meant no nookie in the PnM household this month (well, once right at the beginning but it obviously didn't do the trick!). Ah well, keep telling myself at least I have a job as friends around me struggle with redundancy.

Weather is beautiful today so am outside writing this whilst DH dutifully does the gardening

Am off all week as is my sisters wedding next Sat although now having to work tomorrow to catch up on a few bits that I didn't get finished on Friday. Hope the weather stays nice for my sister. Didn't manage to lose the required 2 stone (no surprise there!) so have cracked open the St Tropez and I swear I look at least a stone lighter

Was working in Royston the other day and got back into Kings Cross about 5.30 - was gonna see if any of you were around to meet for a drink then remembered the G20 summit and all the protesters and figured you prob wouldn't have wanted to battle through! May be next time....

PicknMix · 05/04/2009 15:10

Oh, and meant to say - MrsH if you still need to find a home for the pre-seed then I'd like to give it a go, just never got round to ordering any!!

Email is [email protected] if you want to give me your bank details so I can pay you....

(why does it seem slightly wrong asking for someones pre-seed!? )

MrsHappy · 06/04/2009 15:25

PnM I will email you shortly to get your address. No need for payment! Yes, second hand pre-seed does sound a bit gross, but I promise all the sachets are sealed! God bless the San Tropez - everyone looks better with a bit of colour I find (roll on summer).

Bucky the fantastic relaxed attitude sounds brilliant, even if it is forced by heinous work. I am spending lots of time outside and can report that it is lovely even if I am constantly sweaty from trying to sort out my jungle of a garden.

Caitni the vits are still going. I shall try to track you down via Facebook (are you one of Bucky's friends?) and will be in touch to get an address to send them to. I'll have a hunt around and see if there are any manvits going too that I can send at the same time. DH reckons they gave him super sperm, which sounds stupid until you realise that I was not pregnant at all for 9 months, then he started taking the vits and knocked me up 4 times in a year!! . He's very proud...

LOL at the thought of Jollycub with dentures. I hope all is well in the Jolly household. The sickness seems to be passing, fortunately, although the evenings are still difficult. DH has realised if he wants to eat when he comes in from work he needs to forage for himself since the chances of me having whipped something up when I can't bear to look in the fridge are pretty darn low...

Ei I really hope you caught the egg. Fingers crossed for you.

Hi to everyone else. I hope the lovely weather is keeping you all in good spirits.

Well, I am starting to get fatter. I always had a bit of a belly but have given up holding it in ! I had my booking visit to the hospital last week. The good news is that the midwives seem great and far more thorough than they were at the hospital where I had DD. I've also been assigned to a consultant who is very pro-natural birth. Yay! She's a bit of a legend amongst north London mums on the childbirth threads. The bad news is that my blood pressure is already higher than I would like and that could be a problem. We'll have to see what can be done to bring it down, but I am going to start a gentle exercise regime... next week !

Take care xx

GorgonsGin · 06/04/2009 16:36
