Over here ladies, and a big Wagon welcome to any newbies!

I'll post the list in a minute too....

OP posts:

Hi all, bringonthetrumpets, just in case you'd quite like to carry on mixed feeding (and you may not need to drop breastfeeding entirely in order for AF to get back to normal), I just wanted to say that you can get past the biting thing. They don't mean to do it, it's just the teeth were never in the way for them before, but they can learn to bf without biting. dd got her first teeth at 5 months, and I breastfed to 20 months. You have to scream in pain (well, don't over do it, but don't try to muffle any yelps), removed them and turn away from them for a minute. Then put them back on. dd soon got the message and sorted it out.

OPKs going alright, only done 2; the line was imperceptible day before yesterday, yesterday definitely there but much lighter than the control, so a definite negative.. I am really grumpy today, and it's CD11, so I'm hoping to see something positive tomorrow, although technically still a bit early, as it's always easier to BD at the weekend than during the week....

Biccy · 01/05/2009 13:39

Oops, crossed posts. You could be though couldn't you, as you might have ov'd at any time...

PolkaDotRachel · 01/05/2009 19:01

I am still doing to OPKs daily but nothing yet... the control line is there so they are working!

Since giving birth my periods have been all over the place - even had two in January so I'm probably way out with my timings!

Bringonthetrumpets - you certainly have given your LO the best start in life - well done you! I tried and failed to breastfeed my son (couldn't get him to latch on and not much support until it was too late) so he has had formula since he was about 1 month old (I gave him EBM for 1 month).

If I ever conceive (!) I really hope I can BF DC2 as it's one thing I think back on negatively with DS1. Luckily now I have loads of mummy friends who are breastfeeding experts and so if I do have trouble I have the support I need!

Anyway, slightly off point but has anyone been on hols to Greece as I am trying to find out if full fat cow's milk is readily available for my friend who is going on hols next week with her DD (13 months). I have posted in "travel" but everyone is ignoring me

Biccy · 01/05/2009 19:58

Evening all; OPK update: stronger line, but still not a positive. Am already feeling a bit bored with the testing rigmarole (sp?) so hope it will cure me of my early pg testing habits!

PolkaDotRachel, I haven't been to Greece since I was about 22... but apparently they have 1.18 million cattle, 8.3 million sheep and 4.6 million goats and they certainly make cheese from cow's milk, so I would guess it's available... ?

Biccy · 01/05/2009 20:15

Oops, just re-read those figures, and realise it is 1.18m, not 11.8m cattle, so, erm, cows milk may be a problem - give there's so many sheep and goats. Hmm... I wonder if they import.

bringonthetrumpets · 01/05/2009 20:36

Thanks for the advice Biccy. It's something that I've hoo and hummed over for awhile and I think it's just time for us to wean off bf'ing to be honest. Thanks as well Rachel. It's been lovely and amazing and I feel actually very happy with the decision to wean him. I know I'll still get loads of cuddles and this way dh will be able to settle him down for bed....since I think he was starting to rely on me to settle him. It's just for the best. Plus.... now I'm frrreeeeeeeee!!

Yep, yet another BFN. Dh has promised to try tonight though. Yipee! Haha, like I had to convince him, but the fact that he actually said "we should try tonight, what do you think?" is quite cute!

Glad to hear you two are getting control lines on the OPKs. Maybe I should get some as well, since I can't seem to find satisfaction with peeing on hpts. Lol, just need to see that elusive, damn second line!

sorry to hear you had a bad first experience, rachel. it's a shame that there isn't more support out there re: breastfeeding. it's such a learning experience for both you and the baby that it can take quite a while to get the hang of it!

PolkaDotRachel · 01/05/2009 20:49

Biccy - yes I think they mainly drink goat's milk so that's why she's worried but they're going to Zante which is tourist central so they probably have the Daily Mail and Fish & Chips (she says being wildly stereotypical having never actually been to greece!)

Biccy · 03/05/2009 18:51

OPK update: OPK I did at 4pm yesterday afternoon was 'almost' positive (as in the line was only marginally fainter than the control), today I did two, one at 2pm, then one at 5pm, and each one is progressively lighter again. So, should I take it that I have had my LH surge (either a bit before or a bit after I tested yesterday) and am therefore at peak fertility tonight? (I think you are supposed to be at peak fertility 36 hours after your LH surge, so that would be the early hours of tomorrow morning... what to do... go for it tonight, wait 'til the morning, both?!
I'm really not sure if this is helping, or just adding to the stress as have felt very grumpy this afternooon (but then I think I do get grumpy around OV time).

How's everyone?

PolkaDotRachel · 03/05/2009 19:27

Both !!!!

I have just done OV test (only just got chance!) and there is a very very very faint second line so hopefully will be darker tomorrow.

Thank god! I'm sooo tired I don't think I'd be able to do "it" tonight. Will have to muster up some energy to fend off DH though!!

Good luck Biccy!

Biccy · 03/05/2009 20:44

Thank you PDR (can I call you that?), sounds hopeful on your OPKs now... hopefully we'll both be seeing two lines on a different sort of stick in a couple of weeks or so... xx

PolkaDotRachel · 03/05/2009 20:50

PDR is cool - unless it's an acronym for some awful disease

Dalrymps · 03/05/2009 21:58

Ooh good luck with your pok's ladies

I'm afraid AF got me, 5 days early back to the drawing board I guess...

playftseforme · 03/05/2009 22:09

Apologies if I'm intruding, just got AF today . Feeling a bit down about it (although completely over the top). Had an early MC in feb, on an antenatal thread back then under a diff name. This was our first month trying again, so not sure why I'm surprised that no BFP this month but hey no.......

I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again.....

Biccy · 03/05/2009 22:19

Oh, Dalry, I'm sorry... that is early. Defo AF? No chance of implantation bleed? Sorry, I'm hopelessly optimistic (oops, just noticed how paradoxical that is).

Hi playftseforme, welcome - not intruding at all. I also had a MC (at 7 weeks) in mid Feb... trying again now, currently on CD13. Excited and scared at the same time and dreading the wait for AF. It's terribly disappointing when it arrives... I've cried every time since starting TTC in October (except the months I've had BFPs of course), you just invest so much emotion and energy into trying & hoping. Here's a hug. Hope you feel better in the next couple of days and looking forward to starting again.

playftseforme · 03/05/2009 22:23

Thanks Biccy

Biccy · 03/05/2009 22:24

Hey, Dalry & Playftseforme, Kittycat put me onto the Deanna plan (by accident as she thought I was doing it)... so I'm giving it a go. In a nutshell you start trying on CD8, and do so every other day. Start OPKs on CD10. Try on the day you get positive OPK, and for the next 2 days, then a day off, then one more try, then stop. (not sure if you really have to stop for 2 weeks, that bit is a bit unclear...). Apparently it doubles your chance of conceiving. Feels a bit clinical, but worth a try?

playftseforme · 03/05/2009 22:28

Got five days booked at Center Parcs around the time I should be ovulating next month (two weeks from now in theory), so I'll definitely give the Deanna plan a go (dh a bit upset today too - I think he thinks it reflects badly on him but he's not talking about it - so I'm sure he'll be up for it )

Dalrymps · 04/05/2009 09:09

Thanks ladies, I hoped it was an implantation bleed when it arrived but it's too heavy for that now

Playftseforme - Sorry your af turned up, it's so dissapointing and frustrating isn't it. Maybe we should all get on this deanna plan and get those bfps . Fingers crossed for next month. Stay with us

I like the sound of the deanna plan although i'm a bit confused. If you're doing it every other day from CD 8 but then your pok shows you're ov on a day you're not suposed to be doing it (ie you just did it the day before) would you then do it on that day? Surely if you did that you'd have done it 4 days in a row?

Think i'll give it a try though once that bit has been explained. Where do you get the cheapest opks?

Biccy · 04/05/2009 10:36

Just a quick note as dd is being very very needy at the moment (it's driving me nuts actually, 'mum', 'mum', over and over and over). Anyway, I think if you get a positive you just get on with it, so yes, you may do 4 days in a row - I think it's just about being sure that sperm meets egg! Here is the link that Kittycat sent me to www.smefertility.com/discount-ovulation-tests-149-c.asp for cheap OPKs - they came overnight! Right, got to go...

kittycatcat · 04/05/2009 11:34

bringonthetrumpets Grrrr re BFN [hugs]
hope the weaning goes well.

Dalrymps grrr re AF

playftseforme welcome. Sorry to hear about your mc. The ladies here are lovely

biccy how is Deanna going? I didnt get to start thanks to db

Hello to all, sorry if i missed anyone, hope you are having a lovely bank hol we. I had a blood test fri which was wholly unpleasant. I have thin veins and it took 3 nurses and 4 needles! I ended up in tears. I went to docs fri as pre AF i felt horrendously sick and also had spotting a few days after AF stopped. It's poss just my bod getting used to coming off the pill but he wants to be sure. I have to book a pelvic scan too!

Biccy · 04/05/2009 16:31

Kittycat - what is db? Sorry, have just had an afternoon glass of wine and can't think... . Where are you at now?

Deanna going ok, don't think I've got it 100% right, as I think we started trying a day too early, but, OPK was positive on CD12(well, it seemed to peak, but I shall do another later this afternoon just to be sure) and managed BD on 12/13/14 so I'm hoping we've hit the right time. Only time will tell.

Do you know if you are really supposed to 'stop' completely? Seems a bit weird - what if the OPK was a red herring...

I think it's about time us lot had some good luck, so am trying to stay positive. Am also a bit worried about becoming totally obsessive about the whole thing, so not sure if I will carry on with OPKs next month.

Dalrymps · 04/05/2009 22:40

Biccy - Thanks for the link . I'm unsure as to whether you're supposed to stop completely? Will have to try and do some research...

Have ordered my opks

Kitty - Sorry the blood test was horrendous . Wonder what the scan will show?

kittycatcat · 05/05/2009 20:27

Hi Biccy
DB is darling boyfriend. I am CD14 today, i think. He has a problem releasing shall we say! So Deanna says start day 8 every other day, then on day 10 start ov sticks. You try every night for three nights ONCE YOU OV IS POSITIVE,skip 4th night, go again 5th night, then stop. so you only stop after your ov has turned positive. If you dont get a positive you keep going every other day til day 35..... eeeee. Hope this is making sense. I am also a tad confused. My friend said if you have long cycles like us you are bd every other day for a very long time til you ov!? Then you take a pg test on day 15 or 16. Here's the link again if i am making no sense which is highly likely www.pregnancyloss.info/sperm_meets_egg_plan.htm
Hi Dalrymps doc hopes scan will show all is ok, he is just covering all angles. Bruising is lovely from blood test [hmm}
Hope everyone is ok xxx

Biccy · 05/05/2009 21:39

Thanks Kittycat.. sorry you've not been able to get going this month yet, that's a bit problematic for you both given your current aim... am assuming you've tried the usual tricks...

I think we ought to be giving it our last try tonight (it gets very confusing when you BD in the morning... we managed Saturday morning, Sunday night and Monday morning, with the OPK having peaked on Saturday. So, I think that means we ought to try tonight as it won't happen in the morning, I have to leave too early for work!!)...

but, we had a row earlier this evening, and I'm really not sure I feel like going to all the effort of getting us speaking again, and then trying to seduce him as well. I think he has been really out of order and I don't want to back down just because of the TTC thing. He has made me a cup of tea this evening, which may be his way of admitting he's soooo in the wrong!

So, I think tomorrow night will have to do.

Have you got your scan date sorted? And do you know when you blood test results will be in?

bringonthetrumpets · 07/05/2009 10:21

woooohooooo! finally got AF. Never thought I'd be this excited to see her... but at least I know that my bod is sorting itself out.

How is everyone doing?

OPKs Biccy and Kittycat?
Af on her way out and onto more bd'ing dairymps?

welcome play ! The more the merrier
