Over here ladies, and a big Wagon welcome to any newbies!

I'll post the list in a minute too....

kittycatcat · 28/04/2009 15:07

Ha ha love it

Biccy · 28/04/2009 15:31

Hee hee... we will never be the same again - I think the thing about mummy brain that is most annoying is how you are so used to the way your brain used to work that you still rely on it working that way - which just makes it worse!

Biccy · 28/04/2009 17:44

Goodness that was quick - ordered those OPKs yesterday and they were on the door mat when I got home this afternoon! Wow. Think I will do the first one tomorrow, as I thought I OV'd early last month. Am going to treat it as an experiment in how well I know my own body...

bringonthetrumpets · 28/04/2009 21:01

Hiya ladies. Apologies for not being on lately. Was taking full advantage of the nice weather last week and have been sorting through everything and getting ready to pack up the house this week!

That's awesome that we've got new people! Welcome polkadotrachel and everysinglestar !! I'm excited to have a fellow American on as well as fellow members who've immigrated. Yay!

Oh, right. I'm Mel (bringonthetrumpets) I'm 23, dh is 33 and we have a son who's 7 months. We've been ttc for around 2-3 months. Still no sign of af... it's been, oh, around 45 days since I've seen the likes of her around here! Maybe if we're lucky I'll just magically ovulate before we move and get pregnant and it'll be a fabulous welcome to the states surprise. One can only hope...

Oh biccy that would be so awesome if you conceived straight away! Awesome news on the OPKs coming quickly. Hopefully you won't have to use them

Haha sounds like everyone is getting mama-brains around here. You don't even want to get me started on the stupid things I've done lately!

EverySingleStar · 28/04/2009 21:21

Ooooh Mel what part of the states are you from and where are you moving to? We plan to move back to the States when DC is 1, presuming he/she is conceived straight away in August . How are you finding the whole process?

PolkaDotRachel · 29/04/2009 10:03

I did my first OP test this morning - nothing... though I have about 50 so I'll try again tomorrow and the next day... etc!

bringonthetrumpets · 29/04/2009 10:03

Hahah, it's alright everysinglestar I had to do the same with you! I'm originally from Minnesota and that's where we're moving to. We've been dealing with my DH getting his green card for the past 18 months and we're finally in the home stretch. We got married in Oct 2007 and naively thought it would be a piece of cake for DH to move over (he's British). I just came here to visit him in Dec 07/Jan08-so DS was a huuuuuuge surprise! I went back to MN to finish my degree.... graduated May 08, moved here that same month, had a baby in Sept and now a year later we're moving back to MN in 3 weeks. Phew, it's been an insane past year to say the least!

Now we're, insanely for some reason, TTC #2 (as if our lives aren't crazy enough already). I really would love DS to have a sibling close in age so that's the new "project" atm

How did you and your DP meet? I think it's awesome that you both get to have babies!

bringonthetrumpets · 29/04/2009 10:16

sorry to hear no positives on the OPK rachel . I think I've read somewhere that you want to test in the afternoon as that's when the surges tend to happen...

PolkaDotRachel · 29/04/2009 10:24

Oooo maybe try again this avo then!!!

Can't believe it's taken 18 months for your DH to get green card! That's shocking - feel so sorry for you - waiting is such a pain! It took the High Commission in Nairobi 1 week to issue my DH with a 2 yr spouse visa and things in Kenya usually go at snail pace so we were v surprised!!!

We are still waiting for the Kenyan High Com in London to send us DS's Kenyan birth cert (he is 11 months old and we applied straight after he was born! )

Not sure why my last post is there twice?

Sorry

kittycatcat · 29/04/2009 10:26

yeah and not to drink or pee for four hours before i believe.

bringonthetrumpets · 29/04/2009 10:38

Wow! I can't believe you haven't been able to receive your ds's birth certificate! That's shocking!

We've actually been really lucky on the time frame, actually. We hired a lawyer in the states to help with the case and according to things I've read, it's cut the time in half (so f'ing expensive though!) It took 2 weeks for me to get a 2 year visa to live here.... and it's taking almost 2 years for my husband to move to a state in the US that's the same size of the entire UK. Doesn't make sense, but so glad it's almost over!

Yeah hopefully you'll pick up a serge this afternoon!

bringonthetrumpets · 29/04/2009 10:39

serge !!? god, where have my brains gone this morning?

surge

Dalrymps · 29/04/2009 10:59

Hi ladies, nice to see the thread moving a bit quicker for a change

Cd21 here, haven't goffed for a few nights due to general tiredness, last goffed on fri which was CD 16 so hopefully we have covered the 'fertile phase' for this month, unless i'm a late ovulator

Probably squeeze a couple more in for good luck before af is due, just in case

I really hope it has worked this month, guess I hope that every month though! Getting really broody now, was thinking about when ds was younger and when I was pg last time, lovely memories

Biccy · 29/04/2009 12:13

Yes, I read to not pee for 4 hours and do the OP in the afternoon - so I am desperately hanging on now, as I should be home and able to one at about 5pm, so don't want to p until 1pm, so that I can hopefully last until 5. Ha ha. This is great new game... love it!

Biccy · 29/04/2009 12:21

I am also definitely not going to assume that if I don't get a positive I haven't ov'd, as it seems a bit hit and miss whether you'll manage to hit the right bit of wee on the right day to actually see anything. So, my plan is to try them this month, if I get a positive then obviously really try to go for it that day, if not, just gof every couple of days anyway (if possible!).

Biccy · 29/04/2009 12:23

Oh, and, reading the Deanna plan, does anyone know why you are supposed to actually stop trying after a certain point? Is it so you don't aggravate your cervix while a possible bean is trying to stick - I'm really intereted to know this, with my recent history of unsticky beans

Biccy · 29/04/2009 12:41

Dalry, sorry you've been too tired - I was only thinking today 'oh god, where am I going to get the time & energy to persuade DP every couple of days [and every day round the fertile time according to Deanna] whilst also keeping up the pretence that this lust is not just due to TTC )(sorry but with the general tiredness thing I just wouldn't have the energy for it this often if we weren't TTC). Really keeping my fingers crossed for you this month.

Dalrymps · 01/05/2009 08:45

Biccy - I'm the same, if we weren'y ttc we don't generally do it this often so it's difficult sometimes trying to work up the energy. That said, I do always enjoy it when I make the effory

Haven't goffed again as yet, CD23 here, wonder if we'll fit any more in?

bringonthetrumpets · 01/05/2009 10:54

you are not alone biccy and dairymps. it's an art, ttc. you have to come across as lustful to your dp all the while really wishing you could just go to sleep and hoping he doesn't notice there is a pattern to the days you bd.

how are the opks going for you biccy and rachel?

still nothing. have fully decided that weaning ds completely off breastmilk is the best thing (and not just to have another babe). he's been biting-with his one tooth and has broken the skin yesterday. i'm really patient with him and most things in life really (except for when it comes to af showing up...) but having a sore nipple is not something i'm willing to put up with. he's almost 8 months so i've really given him the best start in life that i can and i suppose he's on to a new and more independent life of his own.... [this is me trying to rationalise this out again i never thought it'd be so hard!] so working on cutting out breastfeeds and getting him on to formula and solid foods. wish me luck!

Dalrymps · 01/05/2009 11:46

Bringonthetrumpets - You really have given him an amazing start. A lot of people introduce formula after the 6 month mark, it's a difficult decision whenever you/or the lo decides. I'm sure it won't be as hard as you think. He'll soon be running round without a care in the world being a mischievious little toddler - like mine!

Oh and OUCH at the nipple! Thankfully I never got bitten as ds didn't get his first tooth till 10months and I didn't bf past 5 (I had a LOT of bf probs). Hope it heals soon.

kittycatcat · 01/05/2009 12:26

Well done bringontthetrumpets that's a brilliant effort!

bringonthetrumpets · 01/05/2009 13:28

Thank you Dairymps. It's much easier getting a little encouragement as dh is very happy to leave things the way they are (he kept asking last night, why formula ? Can't you just keep expressing?) I'm off to buy my first container of formula today....

bringonthetrumpets · 01/05/2009 13:31

thank you kittycatcat.

was thinking of buying some cheapie tests as well, you can never be too sure! there's always that little voice in the back of my mind saying "welllll, you could be pregnant... "
