Hi Biccy are you doing the Deanna plan? I have been looking at it. I am CD6 and trying to fend of DB til Wed, not sure if we are a bit early in TTC for Deanna? And my cyle is 31 days, so would mean ALOT of BD.

Biccy · 27/04/2009 12:43

Hi Kittycat, I had never heard of the Deanna plan, but it looks like quite a good one - although I'm not sure about spending money on OPKs.

We have conceived three times since starting to try in October, so it seems to be hanging on to the beans that is my problem, rather than making them in the first place. Is the Deanna plan meant to help with that too? I may have a peek in Boots tomorrow and see how much the OPKs are..

.. but I was really planning just to BD every couple of days from about now, and try and hit it when I feel I am fertile (I think I'm quite good at telling now).

How about you?

kittycatcat · 27/04/2009 12:54

you can get cheap OPK's on the internet...

www.smefertility.com/discount-ovulation-tests-149-c.asp

i think i am OVing but not sure so gonna temp and OVtest this month and see how i get on.

How distressing for you i hope a bean sticks soon [hug]

Biccy · 27/04/2009 13:51

Ok, that was pretty cheap, thank you - have ordered some... I did think I ov'd pretty early last month which was unusual (we weren't actually TTC so it didn't matter), so maybe this is a good idea, don't know... maybe it will cure my obsession for testing for something! Hopefully by the time I'm into the waiting period I'll be so sick of p'ing into a cup and dipping in a stick that I'll resist the early pg tests!

kittycatcat · 27/04/2009 14:37

hehe, i am hoping this is the discipline i need too....

EverySingleStar · 27/04/2009 14:43

Hello! Can I join? I'm 22, DP is 24, and after our month-long holiday booked for July we will be TTC Baby #1, hooray! Thanks everyone!

kittycatcat · 27/04/2009 16:07

Hi everysinglestar, welcome aboard. I'm Cat. 33, DP 28. TTC DC1. This is our 4th month i think, but the first one where i intend to temp and use OPK's. Good luck, hope you get a quick BFP As the other ladies will tell you we are a slower thread but there is always someone around so add us to 'watch'...Where are you going on holiday? A month sounds like heaven!

Dalrymps · 27/04/2009 22:24

Hi everysinglestar

I'm Dalrymps, i'm 27, dh 28. Currently on our 5th month of ttc dc#2. We have a ds of 18 months. Welcome!

Biccy · 27/04/2009 23:01

Hi everysinglestar, and welcome! That's very exciting that you've decided to TTC soon. Where are you going on your month long holiday? Am quite at that!

I'm 34, DP 36, been TTC #2 since October last year, so I think this is our 7th month of trying (well, 8th technically I suppose, as I had my coil removed in September, but it was day 14 of my cycle, so I don't count that month!). dd is 2.11.

My plans for tonight are not looking too good - DP is fast asleep on the sofa - I am waiting for an ebay auction to end in about 20 minutes. And by then, I'll probably be too tired to want to wake him up!! Still, it's only CD7, so I probably don't need to worry too much. In fact, just recently we've been like proverbial ships and just don't seem to get to spend any time together, which isn't conducive to TTC without saying 'it's time, come on'. So, I need to roll out some serious romance I think!

Bringonthetrumpets - any sign of AF yet?

EverySingleStar · 28/04/2009 08:02

Hi all! Thanks for the welcome. I'm American so we're going to visit family in the US and also I will be getting my 2-year visa (starting in the form of fiancee visa) as DP and I are getting married in early September

I'm really looking forward to it - I'm from Kentucky and the weather is already stifling there, bring on the sunshine! I have a younger sister who is just turning 13, so we plan on taking her lots of fun places like amusement parks, water parks, a 'lost river cave' a few hours away, etc. etc.

Did you get to do your BD last night Biccy? Congrats on your first DD as well! And Dal congrats on your little boy! Kitty we are in the same boat then getting ourselves into this whole parenting business, good luck to you! Hope everyone is lucky this month---fingers crossed!

kittycatcat · 28/04/2009 09:14

everysinglestar Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Hurrah. I am desperate to get married, hate not being able to control that!

EverySingleStar · 28/04/2009 09:29

kitty It was a necessity really - I'm sure DP would not mind us never tying the knot, but due to visa issues it's now or never!

kittycatcat · 28/04/2009 09:34

Men eh. i cant wait to get married. All i need is that all important proposal. How long have you been in the UK? Do you miss America?

Biccy · 28/04/2009 10:32

Well, EverySingleStar... that would be telling...

PolkaDotRachel · 28/04/2009 10:36

Hi everysinglestar I'm Rachel and I'm also new to this thread.

I'm 24 and my DH is 34 and we are have just started trying for DC2. We have a son of 11 months.

We got married in 2007 and my husband is on a 2 year spouse visa and he has to apply for PLTR in September this year.

My DH likes living in the UK but still gets homesick and missed his family a lot. We are going back for 1 week in July to introduce our son to his family. We have waited this long becuase he needs extra jabs which were not recommended under 12 months.

GOOD LUCK in TTC

EverySingleStar · 28/04/2009 10:47

Hi Rachel! Is your DH from the States as well? Which bit is he from? I have always been an Anglophile and came over here straight after graduation, but we are planning to move to the US in 2 years after my leave to remain is up. The US will be our permanent home - we both like the school system better, more family over there, and younger family, iyswim. Good luck and congrats on your little boy - trying for another one early!! We want at least a 3-4 year gap.

kitty Mine's actually a she , bear in mind so am I so it does get a bit confusing.

Biccy Oh come on, do spill. I want to know if baby was possibly conceived

kittycatcat · 28/04/2009 10:56

hehe gotya now

Dalrymps · 28/04/2009 11:03

Ooh, everysinglestar, do you mean your dp is a she? If so it's great to have you on here, great to hae a bit of diversity!

Hope i've got that right?

Biccy · 28/04/2009 11:11

Ok, ok... yes, in the unlikely event that I have already OV'd, then baby was possibly conceived last night... did have very tingly boobs yesterday, and felt like I OV'd around this time last month, so you never know. But I don't think so. but was good practice!

EverySingleStar - I'm being dense and am a bit confused - is your DP a she? If so, can I ask you really annoying questions, like, is it you that is aiming to be preggers, and how did you decide between you?

PolkaDotRachel · 28/04/2009 11:32

EverySingleStar no my DH is from Kenya! We did live there for a while but when I got pregnant we decided to move to here.

I think one day we will move back, but probably not until the children are done with school as private schools in Kenya charge is US$ and we would not be able to afford the fees. Also healthcare is pretty expensive unless you have insurance from your employer. Great place though! Esp for hols!!!

Yes we are planning a small gap! Although not as small as some!!! I am still young so I would like to have my children now and once they have started school I can concentrate on my lack of career!!!

EverySingleStar · 28/04/2009 12:00

Rachel Oh right! LOL - do I sound like a twat for assuming he was American?

Ok - to clear up - partner is a she, I am also a she, (double checks), and she will be getting preg the first time (hopefully if all goes according to plan!). We are using a donor that we have met but is not going to be involved and we have never known prior to this.

We decided on her first simply because she is older hehe , although I will be aiming to have DC2 by the same donor in 3-4 years' time (to which donor has happily agreed).

Hooray Biccy! Green & Blacks all around I know you all are going to love me.

kittycatcat · 28/04/2009 12:02

That sounds like a good plan everysinglestar good luck, i hope it all goes according to plan

Biccy · 28/04/2009 12:27

Thanks for clearing all that up, EverySingleStar, shall look forward to hearing how it's all going.

Fancy an amusing sympton spotting distraction?

(Obviously I can't possibly have any symptons but...)... my brain is jelly... just tried to file a VAT online and thought HMRC had removed my online filing registration without sending me a paper copy. Panicked (deadline is Thursday and it takes 7 to 10 days either to re-enrol online or get a paper copy), called the helpline... told they couldn't talk to me as I'm not a Director of the company... theysaid gently 'are you sure you don't have a different log in for VAT?', I swore I didn't.... they said there was nothing I could do without a director (one currently in China, the other in Derbyshire).... I panicked some more... and then it came to me, the different log in for VAT.. the one I've used 4 times a year for the last, ooh, 6 years or something!

That's it. Defo up the duff.

kittycatcat · 28/04/2009 12:28

focl. hehe.

PolkaDotRachel · 28/04/2009 12:59

I also have funny story (can't possibly be pregnant yet!) - must be mummy brain (I have not yet recovered from first pregnancy - not sure if I ever will!)

I looked at invoice for aforementioned holiday in July. Gulp. It's quite expensive which I knew but even more expensive than I had thought. I looked again and I realised there was no "10% discount" which we were promised by agent (worth about £200 so not small change)

Furious I rang travel company and ask where discount was, I was put on hold as man tried to see what had happened.

In the meantime, I turn over the invoice and shock horror there is a second page which shows the discount (actually 15% which is more than I though!).

Obviously I could not admit that I am a stupid fool so when the man comes back on the line and asks me if there is a 2nd page to the invoice, I lie and say no "there must have been a problem with the printer" !!!!

He was very apologetic and put another invoice out in the post.

The poor bloke!
