Congratulations on the BFP, heylottie! That's great news!! And wow to all the gorgeous scans, nurseries, kicking beans - it must be lovely as it all gets more and more real every day, even if it does involve feeling pukey!
MAF boo to the outrageous Euro rate, but how exciting to have the Euroswimmers on the way at last! I hope you're planning some kind of Eurovision 'big night' - with fondue and beaucoup de vin, maybe?
I realised this month that according to Fertility Friend we've been officially trying for over a year now which is quite depressing; two of my friends have just had their third baby and another four have announced pregnancies. My mum keeps reminding me how long she and my dad tried before I was born which is kind of consoling but at the same time not, because, as I know I've said before, obviously, it is MORE THAN ENOUGH DETAIL than anyone needs to know about their parents' sex lives. Also, I'm now older than her, which means that my standard 'it'll happen eventually - mum was 34' line has gone out of the window. My younger sister, who has two children under four, just says it took her 'ages' (six months for the first, five months for the second).
I have sort of stopped even mentioning that we're hoping to start a family soon because whenever I don't drink at a party because I'm driving, we get all sorts of 'oooh?' type faces, and then, when they think I'm not looking, DH gets sympathetic 'ahhhh' ones. He's quite lucky, though - on the whole, men don't seem to get offered advice the way women do. If anyone else tells me to relax, go on holiday, get acupuncture, get a puppy, drink green tea/cough medicine/grapefruit juice/meths/the blood of a virgin IT consultant slaughtered under a full moon within the M25, I will probably lose it. I know people mean well, but if it was that easy, FFS, then there would surely be a company called www.virgin-geek-blood.com that you could order your instant treatment from! What really makes me want to cry, though, are the smug mums i know who just look at me and say, 'Well, are you having sex?' As if that part might have slipped my mind between taking BBTs and folic acid.
argh! On the bright side, my new dog loves me, and I only have to pick up her poo twice a day.
Sorry, this should probably be on one of the Hut of Gloom conception threads! I honestly don't mean in any way to reflect on the pregnant ladies of this thread, for whom I am truly very happy, but all my RL friends are either mummies or singletons who don't even have a boyfriend - I don't feel right moaning to them, when, after all, I have lovely DH and our dog, so am lucky already in all sorts of ways.
