Hi gals
Are we all well? Sorry for not posting for a while, it's been an interesting couple of weeks.

I bought a Clearblue Fertility monitor and used it Dec - no peak fertility. Used it Jan and was frustrated in the extreme with it, cos although it showed high fertility it didn't show peak.

Until day 20.

Who would have thought it? I presumed because I have regular periods of 28/29 days, I would ovulate on day 14 or thereabouts. But no. I was flabbergasted.

Anyway, a week ago, got a cold and also began to feel a bit sick. And - tmi- constipated. The cold is getting better but I still felt sick.

AF was due Sunday. Have done four tests. And they all show

BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am AMAZED and ASTOUNDED that after so very very long it has finally happened.

I pray that the little bean sticks, so am trying not to get too excited.

And I hope this baby dust means everyone gets lucky very very soon. Cos it has taken me months and months (more like years) and my patience has - finally and hopefully - paid off!!!

Love to all

DawnAS · 03/02/2009 14:23

Oh Heylottie, that is wonderful news!! Congratulations

Please stick Lottiebean!!!

I've got a stinking cold at the moment and our little one hasn't been wriggling around as much for the last 48 hours so I may ring the MW tomorrow if it doesn't start wriggling again soon. It's probably because I've got an anterior placenta but you never know.

Anyway, popping off to google things now!! Catch up later!!

xxxx

BubbaP · 03/02/2009 18:28

heylottie that is absolutely amazing news and the perfect start to 2009 for you, after your difficult year last year!... And about time that we got a BFP! When would your due date be? Early October I guess?

dawn - yummy is all I can say!!! I will have to look up that restaurant ? would be a real treat when we next stay in the S West. The nursery decoration is also very exciting ? you?ll have to post some photos on here! I?m sure all?s well with your bean and that she?ll start wriggling again soon.

MAF - congrats on buying the euro swimmers?. You?ll have to celebrate this big step on your TTC journey!

Hope you?re all well and enjoying the snow!

lots and lots of (sticky) baby dust for us all**

Vix67 · 03/02/2009 19:20

Hello Everyone!!

So sorry i havent posted for a while, i have been away for a few days in Dublin!!

Heylottie fantastic news on your BFP!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for a very sticky bean xx

Dawn how do I look at your scan pic?? Your nursery sounds beautiful!!

MAF woooo hoooo how exciting on your little euro swimmers!!

Fairy thinking of you hun

Big waves to everyone else, hope you're all ok and enjoying the freeeezing cold weather!! xx

DawnAS · 04/02/2009 09:23

Hey all,

Vix, on this new fandangled MN, I think you need to click on my name and then it may ask you for your nickname and password if you're not then logged in and then you look at my profile page and it will have a link for my pictures at the bottom of the page.

How are you feeling Heylottie? Has the MS kicked in yet? I am lucky because I escaped that completely so I am living proof that it has no bearing on the gender of the child. The myth is that it's worse with a girl, but I'm having a girl and didn't get any!! Neither did my Mum or 2 sisters and they all had girls - so I think it might be genetic instead...

Hello to everyone else!!

xxx

heylottie · 04/02/2009 16:32

Hi ladies and thanks for your congrats! Have to say it doesn't feel real at all yet... keep thinking every time I go to the loo I will see that familiar red...

I have had nausea every day for a week, fairly low level so seems manaegable (famous last words). Have to say Dawn it did cross my mind that it might be a girl but your experience makes me not so sure!

So far the only downside is not being able to treat my sciatica, which I have had on and off for a couple of months (it's a wonder I conceived at all!)... and being pg means I can't take ibruprofen. Boo. At least there is paracetamol!

How is everyone else??

xxxx

Vix67 · 04/02/2009 18:14

Dawn your scan is sooo clear, it's lovely!!

I had my hospital appointment yesterday and they are now referring me to the assisted conception unit. I just have to wait now for a letter from the doctor there. Think I will then go on the waiting list for IVF!! The doctor yesterday said the waiting list is not that long?! Not sure how long but will find out at my next appointment with other doctor!!

Am quite excited about the future , fingers crossed 2009 will be a good un!!

xx

heverhoney1 · 04/02/2009 19:08

heylottie Think that feeling is pretty normal. Iam 27 aand a half weeks and I still have that felling!!! Congrats!!!!!

Vix that sounds exciting good luck

makingafamily · 04/02/2009 22:10

heylottie OMG that is brilliant. I do think the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor is fab even though ours is now going to be redundant. I'm peeing on sticks anyway!!!

Dawn we are hoping to actually start treatment in April/May but have the final appointments in March. they little swimmers are being sent over so that they are the Homerton Hospital ready and waiting for us. We even get a tracking number, its a bit like waiting for an order of Amazon but a bit more exciting lol

I've been having a bit of a shit day as am a bit PMT'ish and just want to get started again.

How did everyone enjoy the snow? Its stopped here now

Well I'm still suffering with a stinking cold and paracetomol really isn't doing the trick. Unfortunately I coughed so much yesterday that I pulled a muscle in my chest... So I'm in quite a bit of pain today. Not that our Jellybean seems to mind as she's wriggled around a lot in the last 24 hours, she's obviously lower again.

I'm getting a bit worried about Fairy as she hasn't been on for some time. Although I do think that if the worst happens, some people feel the need to pull away from MN slightly whereas others find it a support. I'm just hoping that maybe things sorted themselves out for her and that it's good news.

Anyway, onwards and upwards girls, I hope that you all have a good day!!

Morning Ladies,

I have updated my list xx

summerbird · 05/02/2009 12:27

Hi there - really sorry i havent posted for a while - and look at how much i have missed!

Heylottie WOW and big congratulations to you and DH/P. It brought all the excitement back for me too, i am soooo pleased for you! I got low level nausea right up to 12 weeks and wasnt sick once so you might get away with it too. My mum had three girls and didnt get sick once so the old wives tales are just that.

MAF woo hoo on the euro swimmers!! blimey that sounds all very exciting, i am really happy for you and DW. I bet it is all very surreal. At least you can relax during Feb and let your hair down.

Hey dawn your meal (esp dessert!) sounds amazing, i am being sensible about the wine too, if i have a glass it is usually just one glass with a meal on a special occasion watered down with lots of water. Mind i had two small glasses of champagne on my birthday!! I am going to try and abstain now until DH's 30th birthday in March... we shall see! I have had the odd random small glass (my mother told me not to worry too much about it as long as i am sensible - mind you i shouldnt listen to her as she gave birth to me - and i am a right lush when i want to be

Big waves to everyone else and thank you all for your birthday wishes! I will try and catch up and send you all a proper message as i dont like to leave anyone out!!

xx

Congratulations on the BFP, heylottie! That's great news!! And wow to all the gorgeous scans, nurseries, kicking beans - it must be lovely as it all gets more and more real every day, even if it does involve feeling pukey!

MAF boo to the outrageous Euro rate, but how exciting to have the Euroswimmers on the way at last! I hope you're planning some kind of Eurovision 'big night' - with fondue and beaucoup de vin, maybe?

I realised this month that according to Fertility Friend we've been officially trying for over a year now which is quite depressing; two of my friends have just had their third baby and another four have announced pregnancies. My mum keeps reminding me how long she and my dad tried before I was born which is kind of consoling but at the same time not, because, as I know I've said before, obviously, it is MORE THAN ENOUGH DETAIL than anyone needs to know about their parents' sex lives. Also, I'm now older than her, which means that my standard 'it'll happen eventually - mum was 34' line has gone out of the window. My younger sister, who has two children under four, just says it took her 'ages' (six months for the first, five months for the second).

I have sort of stopped even mentioning that we're hoping to start a family soon because whenever I don't drink at a party because I'm driving, we get all sorts of 'oooh?' type faces, and then, when they think I'm not looking, DH gets sympathetic 'ahhhh' ones. He's quite lucky, though - on the whole, men don't seem to get offered advice the way women do. If anyone else tells me to relax, go on holiday, get acupuncture, get a puppy, drink green tea/cough medicine/grapefruit juice/meths/the blood of a virgin IT consultant slaughtered under a full moon within the M25, I will probably lose it. I know people mean well, but if it was that easy, FFS, then there would surely be a company called www.virgin-geek-blood.com that you could order your instant treatment from! What really makes me want to cry, though, are the smug mums i know who just look at me and say, 'Well, are you having sex?' As if that part might have slipped my mind between taking BBTs and folic acid.

argh! On the bright side, my new dog loves me, and I only have to pick up her poo twice a day.

Sorry, this should probably be on one of the Hut of Gloom conception threads! I honestly don't mean in any way to reflect on the pregnant ladies of this thread, for whom I am truly very happy, but all my RL friends are either mummies or singletons who don't even have a boyfriend - I don't feel right moaning to them, when, after all, I have lovely DH and our dog, so am lucky already in all sorts of ways.

wildfig · 05/02/2009 17:22

PS seriously, there is no need to reply to this and I REALLY don't want to kill the thread stone-dead! But had to vent. Sorry!!

heverhoney1 · 05/02/2009 19:29

There is no need to appologise if you cant vent here where can you vent???

Seriously people whe tell you "It will happen when you relax" Clearly need a slap!! Some people have problems and relaxing wont solve them. However others dont have any physical problems and it just takes a while. A friend at work wanted to start trying from her wedding day and certainly never expected to spend her first wedding anniversary still TTC. They were just about to enter into "Investigations" when she fell pregnant. It can and does happen.

My fingers are crossed for you believe me I know how all consuming it can be (Despite me falling pregnant quicky when finally starting to try I had spent years thinking I could not have children due to a family history of infertility- it ate away at me every day)

DawnAS · 05/02/2009 20:35

Hello all,

Just popping on quickly (as I'm still ravaged with this terrible cold) to send some words of comfort to Wildfig.

Hun, here is the place to rant because we've all been there. Whether it happens quickly or slowly, we've all had to wait. So you bloody rant away love!! If you don't rant to us, we can't try and make you feel better!!! Some people are so insensitive it makes me sick. Even when you do get PG (and you will), you will be told that you're not doing this right or you're not doing that right and no doubt it's the same when the little beans are born. It's an endless road of self-criticism and worry I'm sure. But it'll be worth it.

You just stick to your guns hun and know that we're all behind you if you ever fancy telling these small-minded individuals to F-Off!!!! (Don't normally swear but some people make me mad.... ...

Right hun - I'm off back to my Vick Chest Rub, Ultrabalm tissues and the luxury of luxuries, a couple of paracetomol before bedtime!!!

Love and kisses to all.

xxxxx

summerbird · 06/02/2009 20:25

Not sure whats going on here but if i have posted this 3 times then i apologise!! my computer keeps crashing when i send a message.

I just want to send wildfig a huge HUG as i completely know where you are coming from, you have every right to have a rant on here, dawn is right that the comments dont stop even after you have eventually managed to get PG, it is the whole 'life under a microscope' that really gets to me.

you take care hun and rant away x

wildfig · 06/02/2009 23:12

Thanks! Is v reassuring to know that at least I don't sound like a madwoman to some people. Fingers crossed that this may be the month, as I'm supposed to be ovulating just after Valentine's Day, and DH and I are going to Valentine's Ball next weekend, so the romance (and the free bar and my Nigella-esque outfit ) might just do the trick. If it did all happen this time, my due date would be around my dad's birthday, which (a) would be a nice present for him and (b) mean that he himself was conceived on my grandmother's birthday (Feb 14th), which now makes me think too much about my grandparents' sex life, as well as my parents'. Honestly, it's like an X-rated version of Who Do You Think You Are?

Big thawing-out weekend waves to everyone else!
