BSL - What opks are you using?? the 2WW will kill me!! I know my chances are small to none but will I be able to resist the testing - ummmm NO

bluestarlavender · 08/08/2008 13:27

Hever - ebay cheapies. If AF comes this cycle, I'm not sure what I'll do next cycle. I was talking to DH yesterday and was thinking about not bothering with OPK sticks as I find them distracting. But it sounds like some of the ones from Boots/clearblue might be better for me. TBH I've found this month a bit stressful with all the temping and panicking over CM and also my confusion over what is and what isn't a negative OPK result. How are you doing??

LOL i am reading our EWCM stories whilst eating my lunch PMSL!!

I am really anal with the washing so my DH leaves me to it - otherwise i rearrange it for him!!

heverhoney1 · 08/08/2008 13:34

the cheepie ones have done nothing but give me a very very pale line so if you are worrying then I am worrying too!!! I want to stay away from OPKs as I think they are bad for me and they heap way way too much pressure on. I think monitoring CM is prob better but I am terribly impatient and I dont think I will be a ble to keep away.

saz007 · 08/08/2008 13:39

I just can't be bothered with work today. I have loads to do as well but it's Friday

Hope you all have lovely weekends planned

I've just had quite a strong positive OPK on the ebay cheapies!!! (first proper one, altho it does explain why I've been getting very faint lines the last couple of days) Grrr...I think I'm OVing about now! Why isn't DH working from home, when I need him!!

I've officially decided I hate OPK sticks! Altho if I get PG bvecause of this positive...maybe I'll need to take that back!

DawnAS · 08/08/2008 14:34

Ok girls - so sorry - been really busy!!

So, I used the OPKs last month and got darkish lines (but not as dark as they're supposed to be) on two Sundays in a row!! Apparently you can OV twice in one month but it's rare so I wouldn't trust them. But from the first one, we BDd every other day and I got PG so I don't know when we conceived but you can't go wrong if you do it three times a week apparently. It actually has a much higher conception rate than using OPKs and checking CM and stuff.

That's what the experts say anyway. Don't really need to do it every day either because the men's little critters can live between 48 and 72 hours and you want to make sure they're the best quality, so a little break is always good to build up new stock!! So, every other day is fine (and worked for us - even though the little Pip didn't want to stick ).

I think bleeding's finally stopped so we'll be BDing tonight and then every other night until eternity or PG, whichever comes first!!

DawnAS · 08/08/2008 14:41

Oooh MAF less than a week until the big day now!! We'll all be there - virtually of course!!

Bagsy taking the confetti!! What are the rest of you taking?!

xx

heverhoney1 · 08/08/2008 14:46

Dawn I think you should take the cake of cheese as yours looked so so lush!!!

saz007 · 08/08/2008 14:53

Oooh yes, MAF the countdown is on now to the big day!!! Hoping you have everything sorted and won't be getting rushed next week.

Virtual guests - yeay I don't need to buy a hat LOL

I'll take bubbles Dawn, we had those instead of confetti (and love hearts as favours) I am such a child!!!

Some friends of ours got married at Gretna Green a couple of years ago, they had a webcam at their wedding so we got to watch. That was a lovely touch

summerbird · 08/08/2008 14:54

i will be bringing the hand crafted table plan and name places for dinner. what are you all wearing? i have got a lovely black and green prom dress a la SATC! x

FlirtyThirty · 08/08/2008 15:25

Our first group wedding - hooray! How exciting! I'm wearing a strapless fushia number...and a big hat! Oh, and I'll bring the camera. :-)

Dawn - I think you got a positive OPK for me...as I didn't get one this month!

bluestarlavender · 08/08/2008 15:29

OPK sticks are the devils work!! I don't trust them at all! so don't worry Flirty!!

As for the wedding, I am bringing some bubbly for those that are drinking and graprefuit juice for those that aren't ! hmmm, now what to wear!

Dawn - I thnk you're proably right about not BDing every day... I've just been so panicky about not having very much CM for the critters to survive in, that's the only reason we've gone for every day in the run up to OV. Problem has been that I have no idea when OV is/has been this month. We're going to move to every other day after tonight.

I can't be doing OPKs next month, I'm a nervous wreck with all this stuff...

OP posts:
FlirtyThirty · 08/08/2008 16:07

BSL - I'm beginning to think that OPKs are the work of the Devil too! Am going to try using them again next cycle and then that's it...no more! I'm just not buying them again. I just get a little sad to never see the 2 lines!
I'm going to continue temping - because I like to see my little chart (regardless of what's onm it!? and I'm going to try harder to analyse CM...I'm not very adept at this yet!

Summerbird* - I'm with you on the pink stuff and will happily be your lunatic dancing partner.

MAF - Hope you don't mind us all coming to the big day!

saz007 · 08/08/2008 16:12

I know BSL it was so cool, made us all feel part of the day even tho we were miles away. I'd never seen anything like before

I love that movie Flirty

Maybe keep a glass (or two) of the pink stuff aside for me please ladies....not grapefriut juice tho, I've given up on that it's just too rancid [yack emoticon]

wildfig · 08/08/2008 16:31

I must admit that I went bargain-happy when Boots did that recent 2-for-1 on OPKs - my bathroom cabinet is overflowing with them. Even more sad, I do it because I quite like seeing two lines, if only once a month. I'm temping as well, but I can't get my head round anything more than that. Happy to drink grapefruit juice by the gallon (it's a Cosmopolitan... without the vodka) but will just trust that it's working IYKWIM.

Think this enthusiasm will only last a couple more months at most - is a bit like the start of term when you go and stock up with new pencils, maths sets, etc!

saz007 · 08/08/2008 16:45

I'm sneaking off early to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

Have a lovely evening everyone
