20thSeptemberMeetUp

Am just wondering if it'd be easier to book a table somewhere for lunch? The Dog and Fox in the Village is v nice gastro pub. Would that be easier for everyone? No need to scramble out of bed and we'd be guaranteed a table. What do you all think?

FruitynNutty · 15/09/2008 14:19

Dog and Fox sounds good Georgie I haven't been there since they've done it up. I didn't realise you could book a table there but then it was just a pub when I went there last.

kate2179 · 15/09/2008 14:21

X-posts Fruity & Georgie!

Not sure about the cat-training Fruity - we did a bad enough job with our dog! Hopefully there are some other 'cat-people' here to pass on some tips Good luck!

Georgie lunch would be great for me, what does everyone else think? What's the best way to get there from Waterloo please? Glad the party went well Twinges sound promising. We're on the same day this month I think? No twinges here, I'm def not pg, so you must be!

kate2179 · 15/09/2008 14:24

Just googled the pub, looks great! Apparently you can book online, here

FruitynNutty · 15/09/2008 14:24

Dog and fox sound great Georgie I ddn't know you could book a table there. But it was just a pub when I went there last

Who's coming? Shall I start a list?

Kate I need to confess to you You know we talked about whether I should TTC straight away or wait and you gave me very valid advice to say that if I fell pg before the consultants had chance to do any investigations (highly unlikely but you never know) then I would feel awful if I m/c again when they could have stopped a third one. Well because I got so drunk and naughty on Saturday we BD'd for the first time. What's worse is that I had a few signs so I tested Sat morning and I knew I was OV but we got carried away and didn't stop when we should have Now I feel really guilty and will probably worry until AF arrives, oops

By the way very of your meet up! When you all pop this year and next we will have to do another one so I can get broody over your LO's

MollieMooma · 15/09/2008 15:12

Just realised my first mammoth post hadn't posted on the thread, so here it is!
Sparkly At least it's all coming to an end, and you can start to move on a little when you're ready. Hope everyone is treating you well, take care and speak soon
Emmsy So lovely to hear from you, can't believe what's happening with your sister, it's very thoughtful of her to do what she's doing, but your Mum will need to support you too! Perhaps I should book some leave when you are due and come and look after you all
TeeHee Scan day and birthday all in one, that will be an exciting day. Hope you had a lovely time in Shropshire?
Scully Friends who needs them hey? They do say some insensitive shit on more than one occasion, at least it seems a universal problem. On a more positive note, your park looked really nice (better than Kate's ) Are you due to test soon?
CriCri Wow you have a lot going on too, really hope the building stays on schedule for you
EI Have you had any symptons hun? I'm keeping everything crossed that TEW stays away from you this month. When is your next appt with consultant? Its before mine isn't it?
Kate Classy place to visit Very of hypnotherapy, would love to try it, hope it does what it says on the box and relaxes you, maybe DH should go too so he's more laid back about BDing After what you have been through with Thomas, you need to make sure that you are 100% ready, emotionally and physically for the next time, so don't feel rushed What did DH think of Mamma Mia, I'm dying to go and see it but will probably wait for it to come out on DVD
Fruity Have you bought any wedding mags yet? Have you been on confetti, that is a brilliant website and was an absolute godsend when I was sorting mine out. I think leaves & twigs would fit perfectly with a natural forest type theme. Have you got bridesmaids? If so what colour? So many questions Nasty tax office, I agree with you, if they won't pay you what's owed they can bloody well wait for yours too
I went to BIL's 30th party on Saturday, I knew that there would be a couple there who's baby is due in 4 wks, she had probs conceiving and had an m/c but seems to have forgetton all about that since she got pg and has turned into a very insensitive thoughtless person but her DP is the complete opposite. I tried just waving at her in the distance, but no she insisted on coming over to talk, I asked how she was and had 20 mins of how she wished she wasn't pg anymore as she had bad back, swollen hands etc, I appreciate that she's suffering a bit but really didn't need that amount of detail for so long! Her DP bless him waited until he could speak to us on her own to offer condolences, chat and hug us, which was lovely, so lovely it made me cry and we snuck off afterwards at about 2.00 am.
Very hungover yesterday, drank 2 bottles of red wine and tequila plus other things I really shouldn't have done, but who cares

MollieMooma · 15/09/2008 15:16

And a third one - sorry
Kate & Georgie Thanks for thinking of me whilst Sparkly is having her terrible experience, I've actually found it quite therapeutic to support and advice her, although it has brought things home a little more for me it has been nice to be there for someone else too. I just wish it hadn't had to happen for any of us! x

kate2179 · 15/09/2008 15:37

Mollie no need to feel ! I know exactly what you mean. We have only had the one 'lapse' since May which I find absolutely ! Though we have mostly been relying on the 'use-a-condom-after-a-while' method so maybe we have just been lucky/unlucky depending on how you look at it... Try not to worry too much though. As you said, it's very unlikely the consultant will find anything wrong anyway. When's your app again?
at that stupid woman at your party on sat. No wonder you needed tequila! If it makes you feel any better, we had friends here for dinner on saturday & got through over 7 bottles of wine between 5 of us... !

PS much to his surprise, DH loved Mamma Mia, so did the other man we went with You should def go and see it

MollieMooma · 15/09/2008 15:50

Feel much better about my alcohol consumption now thanks I'm sure I have nothing to worry about anyway as the likelihood of getting pg so quick is as remote as me winning the Euro Lottery and marrying Brad Pitt!

cricri · 15/09/2008 16:30

Hi girls! Wow, so many posts to catch up on since I first looked this morning!
First things first, a pub lunch on Saturday is good for me. 10am would have been a struggle for me too. Looking forward to meeting those that can make it A meet-up with everybody sounds good too!
Sparkly So sorry to hear you're in hospital but hope you're being well looked after. Thinking of you at such a horrible time
Kate Sorry you've been advised to hold off the ttc at the moment but the acupuncture will definitely help so be guided by your therapist. You may find your pulses get stronger quicker than anticipated. Hope the hypnotherapy goes well too.
Fruity It sounds as though you've got loads of wedding ideas already - for somebody who claims not to be creative or imaginative you seem to have a pretty clear idea of what you want which is great. You've got plenty of time in any case - I found ideas emerged as I looked at magazines and spoke to people. I would also recommend the Confetti website. As for Phoebe, I didn't let my kittens out until they were 6 months old but that's just me being paranoid. Rightly as it turned out as the first one was hit by a car 2 months before before his 2nd birthday and had to be put to sleep So our current cat was kept in for 6 months too and we try to be really strict with getting him in before nightfall. He doesn't always cooperate though I also tried a lead and harness with both of them to get them used to outdoors but they hated it
HTGG I remember looking at the photos of your building project on your profile - ours is nothing compared to yours but I sympathise with all the disruption. DH and I just took away brochures after our visit to the bathroom showroom on Saturday to peruse at home - you're right Kate there is too much choice!
Had lunch with the ladies from my NCT group today which was nice We had such a laugh I thought those who are almost due were going to go into labour! One girl is having a very hard time though with her husband/family. She also had a mc last September and went through it all alone and I don't think she's recovered from that from what she was saying Her GP has referred her for counselling but I've also emailed her the link for the Miscarriage Association and told her to feel free to contact me if she wants to talk. Feel a bit helpless - she's not got many friends around here as she's moved around a lot for her husband's job
Mollie Sorry to hear about what happened at the party - you're having to deal with an awful lot of thoughtless comments atm Hope you're doing OK.
Hope everybody else is OK too

FruitynNutty · 15/09/2008 17:03

Afternoon ladies

Just thought I'd sneak on while the kiddies are finishing lunch/playing happily

I have been on the Confetti website and started the budget tool thingie and the guest list. There are just far too many ideas and websites to trawl through. Id prefer to get recommendations from people like you
I'll have 4 bridesmaids. My sister who will be 22, DP's little sis who will be approaching 12, the little girl who I used to Nanny who will be approaching 10 (OMG! She was 6 weeks old when I started looking after her) and our friend's little girl (DS's best girlfriend) who will be 4. No idea on colour yet but quite fancy a brick red colour at the moment. Maybe ivory dresses for the younger ones with a coloured sash and my sis can be all one colour. She's got quite an individual style so I said if I choose the colour of her dress, she can choose the style as she knows what looks good on her.

Just a quick question (off the subject) Do any of you have a Ford Focus or owned one/driven one in the past?
We're thinking of getting one when we sell our gas guzzler. We can get a 1999/2000 model for around 1500 which is roughly what we hope to get for ours.
What do you think of them?

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 15/09/2008 18:31

Hey y'all. Just booked a table for 6 of us (in case anyone else wants to turn up) for 1pm this Saturday at Dog and Fox. You can get directions from the website. But holler if you need better ones from me. Oh, and mobile is 07967 646953 in case you get lost! xxxxxxxxxxx

teeheelaydee · 15/09/2008 18:41

Oh my God so much to catch up on, I will definately miss something or someone so please don't be offended.

RE Saturday! Lunch is fine with me but I'd like to get my train tickets to make them a bit cheaper so have we got any idea of a new time?

Sparkly Have been thinking of you, hope you are holding up OK, it sounds as if the the physical stuff is coming to an end which is a blessing I suppose. Don't be too hard on yourself if you don't feel great even after that.

Fruity I love the sound of your theme and have visions of you looking like Liv Tyler or Cate Blanchett in the the Lord of the Rings - although without the pixie ears! All floaty with slightly curled but loose hair. Very lovely! In regards to the Cat, I tried to keep George (my little cat) in for 6 months as the vet said I should until he had been snipped. He is a bit of a brave hooligan so it was a flippin nightmare, especially as we have another one who is used to coming and going as he pleases and hated me locking the cat flap and once he'd had his jabs I used to let him out if we were outside and try (failed) to keep him in the garden. I did consider a lead and think he would've loved it. (Plus he would've looked so cute jogging along beside me) It's really hard I think cos you want to keep them safe but on the other hand they are cats and will roam at some point.

Cricri and HTGG Building work sucks! I know it is great once it's done but I hate the chaos and your projects sound way more than we've done.

Mollie How are you today? Sounds like one insensitive person after another for you at the moment.

Kate I'm sorry if it's a bit bleak but your answer to the at least you can get pg thing made me laugh - I wish I had thought of it and been brave enough to say it. Well done you!

My weekend was pretty eventful, DP and I had a lovely time Saturday, really nice hotel with a decent restaurant (and I had actually stopped being and feeling sick which was a bonus) I almost felt like I was on a date. The Sunday lunch was OK - some of DP's family/step family are a bit unfriendly but his aunties and uncles are lovely and they know our news (I can't be bothered hiding it after our history) so when his aunties could get me on my own they would give me a hug and get all excited which was nice. Unfortunately about half and hour from home last night, at a about 8 we broke down and didn't get home til nearly 11! Urgh. RAC couldn't fix and I have a horrid feeling it's going to cost me a packet - I hate cars!

Sorry for the long post but you girls really know how to gas when a girls back is turned.

teeheelaydee · 15/09/2008 18:42

HTGG x posted - thanks for the info. I can book my tickets tomorrow. Yey!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 15/09/2008 20:26

For those of you coming by train. Easiest thing is to get to Waterloo and then take overground to Wimbledon. Only takes about 15 mins. You can either then get a cab up to the village. Cost you about £5. Or you can walk, which will take you 15/20 mins depending on how fast you walk. See map on Dog and Fox website.

For those coming by car. It's a bit of a bun fight to get a parking spot. But quite a few non permit metres off the roads along the Ridgeway (consult A-Z or multi-map!). Alternatively you can park outside my house (there's no restrictions) and we can walk in together. Address is 1 Southridge Place, Wimbledon SW20 8JQ.

Really excited about this ladies. Will be so lovely to meet you all in person. Be warned though. Have brewed some corkers of zits, so might be wearing paper bag over head!!!!!

kate2179 · 15/09/2008 21:11

Hurrah for Saturday! Thank you so much for organising this Georgie! Have just realised that you and I are the only non-pg people going... will you join me for a large glass of something cold and white? Or are you being good for the 2ww? Don't worry about spots though, how ever many you have it will be less than me!

mibbes · 15/09/2008 21:29

Sparkly just wanted to say that I hope you are bearing up and as fruity says let it all out hun, try not to bottle it up. Glad you won't have to go through a medical procedure although I'm sure it is no fun being in hospital - sending you bigs hugs and kisses xx

The rest of you - am very of meet-up, the Dec AN girls from London are meeting up soon too so am feeling very remote and left out up here in Scotland. the pub looks lovely - enjoy

Emmsy1 · 16/09/2008 02:03

sparkly lots of love to you hun, hope you get through this horrid experience asap XXXXX

Please excuse my copying and pasting the next paragraph, I must try and get back to sleep as alarm set to go off at 5.15 am, as need to collect 2 kiddies from sister's at 6am (DH is in work at 7 this morning!)

my MW appt was yesterday, 34wks +4 meassured 31cm, told MW I was starting to worry a little about size as 2nd baby was under 5lb, MW said thats my size is ok, but to remind her about in 2 wks about my concerns and she may send me for a growth scan if baby hadn't grown. No signs of protein in urine this time and blood pressure now 108/60. I asked MW if I could have a swab taken soon to see if I was still showing + Strep B as didn't want to panic about getting to hospital for antibiotic drip when I go into labour (as supposed to have 2 lots within 4 hours from start of labour)She said that they do not test anymore they just give the antibiotics if a lady has ever tested ++ just to be on the safe side! MW also gave me 2 swabs to test for MRSA, she said they are trying to keep it out of the hospital and are testing all their ladies!?? one swab is for up my nose and the other is for the groin area?

lots of love to you all xxxxxxxxx
