New thread as requested (panic, panic) - hope the name will do?

Hey MJIM,

The pictures look really fab - looks like your little man is going to take after Gordon Ramsey - definitely to be encouraged!!

Bump looks good too!! You must be so excited!!

xx

Dear all,

Sorry to log on so late - horrendous delays at the clinic, then no internet at home (was seriously tempted to run down the road to the Internet café):

I'm not going through MC at this time. DH is over the moon, I'm more reserved. Straight away the technician found the sack (good size) and traces of a small bleeding - but nothing else. I was shaking. Finally, after lots of poking with the sensor from a different angle (external scan) she found the little bean, and a pulse! Jeeez, massive relief. The size is right for my week and I've just been told to go home and live as normal.

Thank you so much for all your fingers crossed and positive thoughts. This experience has really reinforced how much we want this, how grateful we are and how frail life is.

Dawn just browsed quickly but shocked at your friend's that woman's reaction. With friends like that you don't need enemies! I'm so sorry, that's one of the most insensitive things I've ever heard.

Hope everyone is well. xx

Mandy, I'm so relieved, that's brilliant news!!

Fingers crossed that I'll have a similar experience next week...

Mandy - Congratulations - what an enormous relief! Very very happy for you!!

Mandy!!! So pleased for you guys!! This is great news. It's made my day, today!

FlirtyThirty · 30/07/2008 16:09

Oh, and I've just got the all-clear from my smear test. So, that's good news! I'm planning on trying out Mandy's patented mini-skirt technique tonight! Fingers-crossed... Think I'm likely to get a positive OPK reading tomorrow or Friday...if it's like last cycle...

DawnAS · 30/07/2008 16:28

Oh girls - I wish I would stop trying to be positive - everytime I do I get more bleeding!!

Ok, well, just a spot but it's red again this time.

So.... I've taken all your advice and I'm waiting for the duty doctor to call me back and I will set up for a scan. Hopefully tomorrow....

xxx

PS: On the plus side, still absolutely no pain!

DawnAS · 30/07/2008 16:29

You ladies that have had children before, I need to ask something.

I suffer with something called "Erosions" around my cervix and uterus so when I have a smear, I bleed for days afterwards. Smears have always come back clear though.

Is there stuff happening in this area maybe that could cause some of these blood cells to erode? I don't really know enough about the detail to know if this is possible....

FlirtyThirty · 30/07/2008 16:37

Dawn - I am SO pleased that you have decided to get a scan done. Though I'm sorry you've had a spot of bleeding. I really think that getting a firm answer to what's happening and why is best for you.
And, yes, from what I've seen online (not the gospel, I know), cervical erosion CAN cause bleeding in pregnancy, in part because it is affected by hormone changes:

www.gynaeonline.com/cervical_erosion.htm

PS. Good to have you back with us... x

WelliesAndPyjamas · 30/07/2008 16:38

Dawn, it sounds like that is definitely something worth discussing with your doc. Does your mother have the same problem after smears?

Well done Mandy. Fantastic news. I can't imagine how you must be feeling now.

Mandy73 · 30/07/2008 16:39

Thank you so much girls, I'm filling up now. xx

Dawn I'm so happy you're setting up a scan. Not knowing is hellish, no? I don't know much about cervix erosion but have heard that if you have it anyway it becomes more pronounced in PG. Also the technician told me today the blood flow in all those 'bits' increase so, so much in early PG the smallest thing can set off a (potentially harmless)bleeding. She said 'Sorry to sound crude, but you know how some kids are very sensitive to nose bleeds? Well that's what it's like 'up there' in early PG." And yes, we did have sex the day before I started spotting, which the doctor noted carefully...

DawnAS · 30/07/2008 16:58

Hey girls,

Doc has called me back and I've got an appointment for 10.30am tomorrow at the EPU.

I explained all the symptoms and everything to her and she said that she did think that it was highly unlikely to be a miscarriage after this amount of time and the bleeding getting less not more, but she didn't want to rule it out.

Thanks Flirty for that info, the Doc did say the same thing that it could absolutely be the reason because the cervix is going through so many changes. And as I said to her, because my CM is soooo heavy all the time, just one spot can look so much more mixed up with it all.

So, I've got everything crossed now. [Dawn has a scared face on]

Don't be scared...be empowered that you have made a deceision and that you and Dh will be able to plan for the future tomorrow, whatever that may hold... I'm sending indiustrial quantities of positivity your way....

PS. If you wanta smile in all of this...tonight's the night I'm going to experiment with the Preseed!? God knows hiow that'll go as I'm off on a girls' night out first!?

daisyj · 30/07/2008 17:47

Mandy - so, so pleased for you

Dawn - I have mild cervical erosion too, and my GP, who is also a gynacologist, says that bleeding is quite common (although I don't suffer from it myself, she did ask if I did). So glad you'll be having a scan.

flirty - good luck!

DawnAS · 30/07/2008 17:52

Ha ha ha, make sure you're not to pi**ed when you try to use it!!

Have fun with that and I'll look forward to an update tomorrow!!

Oh well, off to have a session with a psychic tonight, the one that cancelled on me a few weeks ago and I forgot that I'd rebooked with her.

Hope you all have a lovely night!!

xx

DawnAS · 30/07/2008 17:53

Thanks DaisyJ, hopefully all is well... Fingers crossed!!

Oh Mandy - I'm so pleased for you! This is a lucky thread remember!

Dawn - good luck tomorrow, we'll all have our fingers crossed for you.

Good luck tonight Flirty!

Well it's cd 11 here - no sign of any ov yet, but then given recent cycles I'm not expecting to ov until around cd24. Dh and I skipped a night on the bd routine last night (he was knackered and fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow!), so I'm hoping to get to it again tonight

HumphreysCorner · 30/07/2008 18:46

Crikey, has taken me all afternoon to get an internet connection. Crap Tiscali ! Thank goodness for your good news Mandy-so happy for you. No running marathons now.

Dawn-am out all day tomorrow but will be thinking about you. People are so horrid sometimes. Not going to tell anyone again until 20 weeks like last time-work colleagues said it was the worst kept secret ever though. Be interesting to hear what the psychic says. Have seen a few myself.

Flirty-steady on there girl.

Get Wellies and her chest freezer-don't fall in it!

bluestar-my OPK was -ive too but hoping for a +ive tonight or if like last month I OV'd 4 days later so won't get a +ive until Sunday. Mum and dad have the girls Friday and Saturday night so we can BD like Mandy go and see Mammia Mia at the cinema and have a pizza.

MJIM-fab pics as usual. Can't wait to have a bump but preferable one that doesn't move too much.

Right, had better post this message before I lose the connection again. Back later after tea if DH ever comes home for it!

Evening all

Mandy - fab news and so glad you got to see your bean Now relax and enjoy!

Dawn - will keep everything crossed for you tomorrow but it really does sound positive for you. Sorry to keep repeating myself about my bleeding in my first pg - but that was due to a cervical erosion and, trust me, it was a LOT more than a few drops!! If my case was typical of cervical erosion, you would definitely know about it.

MJIM - fab pics - really must get round to posting a picture of my bump! A colleague, who I don't see regularly, turned round to me yesterday and said 'gosh you are big aren't you?' and she thought it was a compliment

Hi to everyone else!

Well this pg has gone the way of my first one and (TMI info alert!) the constipation has well and truly kicked in....grrr!! Have been fine up till now and thought I had escaped it as I suffered quite badly first time round. Have got some Lactulose which hopefully will work in the next couple of days - it better had do otherwise I don't know what I will do!

Knax · 30/07/2008 22:03

Good luck for tomorrow dawn - I'm feeling v positive about it!
Fab news Mandy!!
Wellies - the "chest freezer" sounds painful - is it outdoor sex
I'm currently trying to lose the weight i put on in my "I'm pg so i can eat what I like/ what 2 or 3 people would like" phase" at the mo, so no snacks for me at the mo
knax xx

bluestarlavender · 30/07/2008 22:23

Evening everyone,

Just a quick post, cos I only got hom a little while ago and have just eaten. Need to go to bed...very zzzzzzzzzz.

Eth - thanks for the link - clearly I was being a dumbarse!! I couldn't find it for some reason!

Dawn - good luck tomorrow! I'll be watching out for news!!

HC - another - OPK for me today...I'm hoping I might start getting +'s on Friday

Ceebee - hope the Lactulose does the trick soon. It sounds uncomfortable!!

Flirty - I'm looking forward to an update on what pre-seed is like....

Big waves to all...must go now cos falling asleep...zzzz

bluestarlavender · 30/07/2008 22:32

OOOh a few more things:

MJIM - fab pics!! The bump is looking great!!

Knax - I'm on a horrid diet too and so it's no snacks for me!! Mine's in aid of my holiday/ visiting relatives in Singapore in about a month's time! I'm a little bigger than the last time my cousins saw me and they will make comments about my size...grrrr. I'm not exactly huge, about 9st and 5ft 3. But I was about 8 and 1/4 stone last time they saw me. Their comments can be a bit hurtful, so I'm doing my best to avoid them!

More tomorrow, before I fall asleep at my computer...

Bellie · 31/07/2008 07:58

morning all,

dawn good luck for today, will be thinking of you. hoping that it will be good news for you xxx

Mandy - so pleased to hear your news, it is hard but maybe you can relax a bit now? (this coming from the woman who is on the edge all the way through this pregnancy!)

ceebee - poor you - are you on iron supplements? I had to take them last pregnancy (thankfully not this one yet) and it caused me to get bunged up too!!

Flirty - did you manage the preseed after your night out?

knax & BSL good luck with the cutting out snacks!

MJIM - great pics - can't wait till I get the first kicks - keep waiting to see if I can feel anything - still probably wishful thinking as only 14 weeks today - when did you feel your first kicks?

HC - is it +ve opk yet? Hope the internet is not playing you up anymore - it is so frustrating.

Going to attempt to take dd swimming today - she is not keen so usually spends more time out of the pool than in it so I end up in then out then in then out..........

HumphreysCorner · 31/07/2008 08:24

Morning all

Thinking of you today Dawn.

ceebee-hope you have a good clearoutb soon. Nothing worse than being bloated and constipated.

My OPK was -ive last night so my body doesn't want to OV on CD12 anymore so might be day 16 like last month.

Off to Rand Farm Park today with my SIL and nephew so should be good fun. Better get going then.

Waves to everyone else!
