Ahhh, look how nice and clean and new this thread is .

And there is a big ScaryHairy birthday cake for us all to share. I am not being good till after Thursday afterall...

OP posts:
Bucky2008 · 16/09/2008 12:25

Yes I am here. The person who wants me here has seen fit to go out to meetings all day, so I am bored and reading through project material.....

OP posts:
Bucky2008 · 16/09/2008 12:25

I came all the way to Leeds to read..... A good use of time, I think not.

OP posts:
TheUNITUBER · 16/09/2008 12:36

How inconsiderate of them, Bucky. Haven't they got good shops in Leeds? They'll never know if you pop out for a few hours you know...

Yes, MOB, you are the guinea (it took me 6 attempts to spell that) pig, so try not to put us all off! I am just waiting for my hormones to settle down a bit and then will book to see a fertility consultant. If IVF would give us a better chance it is kind of a no-brainer. The NHS won't touch us either because we already have a child so it is speedy private service for us too. Terrifying though it seems at least we would get seen quickly.

There is a lot of conflicting advice about when to ttc again. I am told that "if you try too soon after surgery you have a higher risk of another ep". Fine, except my extensive googling has not managed to turn up any actual facts (studies etc) underlying such a claim. The EPT suggests waiting "2 cycles or 3 months, whichever is shorter". So if I had a 24 day cycle I would only be waiting for a little while - much less than 3 months. And I have found a study that suggests that after hydrosalpinx (a weird condition where the tube fills with fluid) rather than ectopic it is best to re-try asap. This is especially odd since the other advice seems to suggest that waiting is a good idea because of the abdominal surgery and letting the swelling go down. So my conclusion? I will not ttc in October but the first time I ov in November I will be back at it (excuse the expression). I mean, I am not getting any younger FGS. It's also in line with the advice of the first Dr (one of the 2 who scanned me at the NHS hospital) who suggested waiting "one period". (Enough ranting, I am just so frustrated, sorry.)
Hope you are all well.

xx

Bucky2008 · 16/09/2008 12:43

Difficult decision UT. I think your option is best, wait for a month and let things heal up.

There are indeed shops, maybe I will pop out in a while. I think I will leave at about 4pm ish...How much do you bet they come back from their meetings and want to talk to me at 3.59pm!

OP posts:
readyfornum2 · 16/09/2008 16:44

Hi all hope you are all well x

Well its cd23 for me and the norks are starting to get tender but thats usual for me so not really a sign, other than that I have nothing to report.

It is only month 1 and we only managed to bd once during the vital time so I wasnt expecting miracles lol

Caitni · 16/09/2008 22:05

Evening ladies

readyfornum2 sounds like it could be a symptom to me fingers crossed you caught the egg!

Bucky hope the trip to Leeds wasn't a total waste...and sounds like an excellent plan re NHS appointment and then private IVF (if necessary!) in the new year. It's good to make a plan, you'll have plenty of time to get into proper shape (mentally as well as physically ). Great symptoms by the way! If only I'd ever had a course with someone worthy fancying...

UniT hope you're continuing to heal. How frustrating about the conflicting advice re when to ttc again. Waiting until Nov sounds wise though. It's important to wait until you're ready, but I second MOB in that I reckon you'll instinctively know when's the best time to start again xx

Ei don't be too disheartened with the temps as I got my first bfp last week after my temp had dipped a bit but then rose again the day my period should have showed. It's really not over until either AF arrives or you get a BFP

MOB god, I'm getting excited for you about your treatment. Though I imagine I'd also have been overwhelmed after Friday's app - so much to take in and thinking of the distinct possibility that you'll be pregnant again in a few months . I also think it's good that you've told some people in RL, as having as much support as possible is good. And you are so right about the vit supplements btw - my wee is the most lurid colour ever. I literally jumped when I saw it on Monday and was like "oh my freakin' god, what is wrong with me?!?" lol xx

JudithG I am so sorry to hear that your DH's results weren't better and [frustrated emoticon]. But there are plenty of swimmers for the treatment, which is the main thing (even if it seems small compared to months of effort to improve things). I know Jan must seem like ages away but I reckon time is going to fly (at least I'm hoping it flies past for you both). And the healthier lifestyle can only help with the treatment (and of course the pregnancy and eventual sleep deprivation of a baby )

O7MTW wow - five weeks left!! How exciting! Hope you enjoy the last weeks before baby makes his/her appearance

PnM hope the day time telly's not driving you too mad. I'm a sucker for Home and Away (it's my secret TV vice!) so I envy you the chance to catch Aussie daytime soaps . But I do hope the foot is healing, and that you're soon going to be mobile again

Things fine with me - though after an OK weekend I was very quiet and almost teary at work on Monday. I wish I'd actually taken the day off, but am kind of glad to have gotten through it too. I suspect I'm going to be ovulating early this month, as only CD 5 but (tmi alert!) the beginnings of creamier CM. And an old friend had a little baby boy today. I'm really happy for them, as I suspect they tried for a while, and also gives me more hope that we'll get there ourselves.

And in other news, tomorrow's my birthday. My DH gave me an early present - a big bar of Cadbury's caramel, which I love, though now feeling a bit full of chocolate!

Caitni xx

TheUNITUBER · 16/09/2008 22:25

Caitni - at the risk of sounding silly are you sure that it is all over for you? Are your temps lower now? The reason I ask is that lots of creamy CM is a sign of pregnancy for me.

TheUNITUBER · 16/09/2008 22:28

Oh, and I heart Home and Away too. How I wish I lived in Summer Bay instead of dreary North London, land of ectopics.

JudithGin · 17/09/2008 10:11

hello everyone!

Bucky - you do make me laugh. What a waste of time to go to Leeds to read project stuff. Did they ever turn up for a meeting or did you hit Harvey Nicks Leeds and buy a little floaty number to woo your DP in? . You sound exactly like me and not wanting to rush to assisted conception despite the clock ticking and many months of TTC. I keep holding out for another month when it might just happen naturally for us and for getting my head around ICSI. We could afford to go privately if we wanted to, but somehow the pace of the NHS is suiting me - I can't bring myself to rush this and I don't know why - and we do get two cycles funded, so it seemed silly not to use up our allowance, IYKWIM. You have to be in the best mental frame of mind to do IVF - it's going to be very draining - I needed the time to get my head round it all and get myself in the best possible place. Christmas is not a good time for beginning treatment and you have other things you want to do too.

unituber - I think you are right to wait one month just to let your body heal a bit. It's been through a rough time of it recently. Which clinics are you exploring your IVF options at?

MOB _ - ha ha, yes you are our WIMBEWAIF IVF guinea pig and also your will be oracle of knowledge on everything assisted conception related and we will come to you for advice and support. I am so exciting for you!!!!

caitni - ((((((Higs))))) to you. It's been a tough time for you too and it can't be easy being back in the office with your mind swirling away, but well doen for getting through it. Happy Birthday for tomorrow - do you have any exciting birthday plans? Ahhhh at your DH giving you an early present. I didn;t even get a late present form DH this year . I will put "must try harder" on his report card

picknmix - cooooeeee. Are you still about?

ei - fingers crossed for your that AF is NOT on her way this month. The only good thing about you getting a BFN is that we get you on the WIMBEWAIF for another month . Thanks for the words of encouragement about me getting a BFP in the new year. I hope you have one of your psychic dreams predicting it

big hello to everyone else on here from JG

Nothing to report here about BD-ing or anything. I am about CD9 and beginning to get DH revved up for the OV-ing and BD-ing (difficult to tell this month when CD1 was). I went to my bookclub last night though (DH is convinced I am turning middle aged, cheeky sod! ). If you haven't read The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, by Maggie O'Farrell, then I would really recommend it. Brilliant!

Caitni · 17/09/2008 10:28

Morning all,

JG i love that book - tis excellent! Glad you and your book club liked it.

UniT my fellow Home & Away fan! I did a test on Friday evening and a bfn. I didn't temp for a couple of days, but on CD3 my temp was the lowest I've ever recorded. The last two temps have been slightly higher, but totally in the normal range for me now. Reviewing my charts, it looks like I often get the CM starting around now (the joys of FF charting and tools!).

Today's actually my birthday - my DH hid my present in the cereal this morning, which was a nice surprise! He got me driving lessons, since I said that I'd definitely learn to drive this year (now that I no longer have the "I live in London, what do I need to know how to drive for?" excuse) but have been rather procrastinating it! Time to go and buy some driving gloves and driving goggles mehinks (ie get my provisional licence!). Hope everyone has a lovely day!
Caitni xx

TheUNITUBER · 17/09/2008 12:25

Ah, happy birthday Caitni. I hope you have a lovely day and that your DH spoils you rotton. I especially hope that there will be cake (am trying to eat healthily so have to have my cake vicariously).

Sorry about the BFN Ei, but Judith is right; this way we get the pleasure of your company for a bit longer which is great. Have you had any mystic ei dreams about me??

Judith your post has made me feel guilty. I gave my DH an IOU for a weekend away for his birthday and still have done nothing about it. It will fall through the cracks and get forgotten if I don't watch it. It makes absolute sense for you to use your two free funded rounds of IVF - especially as the wait is not terribly long (I've heard about people having to wait years). I would do that if I could. Have you made any progress with your consultation appointment?

Waves to everyone else

JudithGin · 17/09/2008 14:31

unituber - we managed to get a co-ordination appointment for the 26th November. They fitted me in then because December was full, so that's the next big date for us ont he IVF marathon. That date probably suits me better to be honest - December is always manic at work. Apparently, I am about to receive a fat pack of information through the post from Hammermith IVF unit, so that will no doubt give somehting to think about and then get scared about (and also lots of questions)! Oooh, where are you going to take your DH for his birthday weekend away? I love planning these things (maybe I can be a travel agent if they make me redundant from here... ). DH and I try to go away for our birthdays and have been to some great places. Actually, I have been away so much recently that I think I would like my DH to give me a "weekend at home" for my birthday, even though I love travelling

caitni - good luck with the driving lessons. You will be a natural at it! Happy Birthday for today (note to self - must read posts better ) and how nice of your DH to surprise you with them in the cereal box!!! righton will be a lot easier for learnign to drive than London. I have had a licence since I was 17, but I rarely drive (and the last time I did I wrote of DH's car ) because London traffic gives me The Fear

EisAHandbagaHolic · 18/09/2008 00:39

hi ladies
i havent read through will do that tomorrow when i feel a bit brighter xx
the reason for my gloom is AF has arrived on scheduleso my CD1 will start first thing tomorrow needless to say i am gutted
xx ei xx

TheUNITUBER · 18/09/2008 07:54

Oh Ei .
It will happen for you soon; it will, it will, it will.
(((higs)))

I don't know what we'll do re the weekend away Judith. I don't like to go too far away from my daughter, so need to be within a couple of hours of London. We've been to The Grove previously, which was great if a little Footballer's Wives (and the location of the least pleasant massage I have ever had!). I thought about Le Manoir, but they often require a 2 night stay. I think maybe somewhere in Bath or a Hotel du Vin would be a good idea, but need to give it some thought. Do you have any ideas?

Caitni · 18/09/2008 09:48

Ei I'm so sorry that you're back to CD1 . I know it sounds trite, but it will happen for you soon and then your DD will be a great big sister. Hope you feel better soon xx

JudithGin · 18/09/2008 10:13

ei - for you. (((higs)))))). I felt awful when AF arrived this time, so that horrible feeling is really raw for me too and I completely understand how down you muct be.

unituber - DH and I have snatched weekends away in Windsor, which is only an hour away from London. There is a hotel called the Christopher Wren we've been to a couple of times that has a small spa attached. I had my best ever massage there, better than loads of swankier places. It is by the river and there are lots of nice bars/restaurants and pubs. It's lovely to go and kick leaves in Windsor Great Park at this time of year, wander along the Thames and of course go to the castle. I also like Lavenham in Suffolk, but it is quite twee - try the Lavenham Priory or The Swan - or Hotel Du Vin at Henley on Thames is lovely and I like the pubs in Henley and you can go walking around there on the Thames Path and have Sunday lunch in the nice pubs in Pangbourne or Goriung further along the river before going home.

PicknMix · 18/09/2008 14:42

Ok, firstly a little apology for going awol - been back at work for the last few days and it's tired me out!! Had to endure a 1.5hr bus journey yesterday to get to one shop (couldn't do train as no disabled acces ), not nice!!!

Caitni HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY!! Apologies for missing it, how lovely of your dh to give you driving lessons - at least in Brighton you'll get plenty of practice doing hill starts ! How are you doing? You're sounding incredibly upbeat, I am impressed but hope you are looking after yourself as well.

Uni hows the oozey gunk? Still crusty? Are you back a work yet? Apologies for repeating myself but you need to look after yourself as well - a little trip with DH sounds ideal. Another thumbs up for Hotel du Vin here, the one in Winchester is lovely (but prob too far for you) and have eaten at the one in Tunbridge Wells which was superb.

JG Am sorry to hear about your DH's sperm test but I'm pleased to hear they've found you an appt. It gives you something to work towards and time to read through the bumper pack they're sending you. Your book club sounds good - would love to find something like that around here but I seem to have lost the inclination to read at the moment! I have zero concentration span for some reason!!

Ei I'm so sorry to hear about AF arriving . You will get there. Hope you have an indulgent day to help you feel a bit more positive today.

Bucky how was your trip? Can't believe you went all the way to Leeds for no good reason!!

MOB everything seems to be going so fast for you now! Must be a lot to take in. Am feeling really positive for you but am pleased you have some RL support as well.

MTW - 5 WEEKS??! Crikey, where did the time go!! Hope you're feeling ok at the moment.

Apologies to anyone missed, not intentional, am doing this on the work computer and have to be quick. Apologies also if I've crossed posts with anyone - have been writing this for about 4 hours in between customers!!

DH still being amazing by the way - think the novelty has worn off a little now. His stirling efforts are accompanied by great sighs!! We're off to Jersey for a wedding at the weekend so hopefully a few days away will revive him!!

EisAHandbagaHolic · 18/09/2008 16:14

hi ladies
im still feeling quite down in the dumps but not as low as yesterday especially seeing as how i decided to skive off work today i have taken my frustration out on my kitchen which is now sparkling and no longer smells like the inside of a tramps bum (not that i would know of course) thank christmas for flash power spray
i think the main reason i am so disappointed is me and DH gave it good wellie this month and tried various risque positions and did everything right it sucks doesnt it!! im investing in opks and pre-seed this cycle as i am determined to be preg by 16th oct!! (anniversary of my first MC)
PnM nice to see you back do you still have the cast on your leg?? if so get back on that couch woman!!
judith it gets a little worse each cycle that horrible feeling i think you are a fabulous, brave and strong person and i cant wait for it to happen for you if anyone deserves a gorgeous baby you and your DH do
caitni when was it your birthday?? im sorry i missed it well happy birthday to you i was goin to burst into song for you but my singing voice is as simon cowell would say diabolical!! lovely to see you so upbeat and strong
hi to everyone else i have mot meantioned by name
xx ei xx

Madoldbird · 18/09/2008 20:13

Evening ladies

EI I'm so, so sorry to hear you had a BFN followed by AF. It's awful isn't it. As other people have said - you WILL get there in the end, although i'm sure it doesn't feel like it right now. At least you have your appt to "look forward to" next week(i know that's not the right phrase, but hope you know what i mean). It sounds like you are seeing one of the best in the field, so i hope that feels like you are doing something positive. I was pleased to see you sounding a little brighter today, but i can't now get the phrase "inside of a tramps bum" out of my head If you ever run out of cleaning at your house you can pop down to mine!

unituber how is our crusty-bellied one doing?! Starting ttc again in November sounds a good plan - not too soon, but soon enough for it not to seem too far away (does that even make sense )

Bucky How was that party last night? Are you still recovering??

readyfornum2 any news from you??

Caitni belated birthday wishes from me as well. Hope you had a lovely day. You remind me of "Toad" with your driving gloves & goggles!!

JG Well, i don't think i have ever been described as an "oracle of knowledge before* . I will do my best to live up to expectations! I'm pleased to hear you have your next appt now. I will recommend that book to the book club i belong to - we are looking for a few more to add to the list.

PnM Good to see you around again! And i can't believe it - there i was imagining you with your feet up in front of the telly, and you've had to WORK Have a lovely time in Jersey. It's such a beautiful island.

Well, i think i've ov'd now, as things have "dried up" Am counting down the days now until the end of this cycle, then off we go!! I haven't listened to my ivf hypnosis thingy - i've downloaded it and put it on my ipod, but that's all. Think i will have a go this evening, as DH is out. I'll find out if i have to "melt like butter" too

EisAHandbagaHolic · 18/09/2008 20:56

hi MOB i only had AF this cycle as didnt even get round to testing before she showed up im glad of that really as i hate seeing the empty window more than i hate seeing AF arrive and thats ALOT!!!
im so excited for you starting your treatment soon not long left now til we have some MOTwins
hi to everyone else
i have decided to go with opks and pre seed this cycle aswell as temping so me and DH will be TTC demons this cycle as i dont much fancy the idea of cycle 12 (i know you lot have been going for longer than that sorry) and hopefully i will have some light shed on my fertility or lack of by monday afternoon
xx ei xx

Madoldbird · 19/09/2008 06:44

Sorry EI I don't know where i got the idea from you'd tested I'm definitely going mad! Iagree with you - i think the empty window is definitely worse that AF arriving. Pre-seed and OPK's sound a good idea if you haven't used them before (or used them in conjunction with each other)

And no more mention of twins Would be just my luck - no baby for months and months and months - then 2 come along at once! DH says we'd be getting a BOGOF

readyfornum2 · 19/09/2008 08:02

Hi all x

Well its cd 26 for me and I just know that I will see af in a couple of days! I feel very premenstrual

Im not sure what signs to look out for though as DS was unplanned and I only realised when I was 2 days late and took a test not even thinking I could be pg but I was lol

Bucky2008 · 19/09/2008 09:08

Hello folks

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, I was most definitely recovering (and hanging my head in shame a bit as I went a bit mad). I got home at 3am after mixing my drinks, doing shots, playing hide and seek around Boris's building and racing those blue disabled cart things round Euston station. Oh I did go out for a meal as well along the way. I don't know what happened to me, I must have been possessed by the spirit of some bygone party animal . Needless to say I had not tested and today is CD29 (AF should arrive tomorrow). So, if there is a beanie in there I may have pickled it which is not very big, clever or responsible . I just NEEDED to go out and be me again, I am soo fed up of being a boring frumpy Bucky who drinks sparkling water, takes FA and tries not to eat to many cakes. You lot are so resolved though, which I really admire, so I feel like a bit of a fraud .

Anyway, enough about me, Ei how are you doing today. You can legitimately let your hair down, so go and treat yourself to make yourself feel a bit better. You live near Leeds or up that way don't you? I hear that technology has reached the North now, so they must be able to make fancy cakes and things for you to buy . Just kidding, just kidding, working up there one day a week has brought the devil out in me. I feel it my Southern duty to drop every Northern cliche into all conversations. I crack myself up but think that everyone else at work is tiring of this now .

Caitni I never said Happy Birthday . Hope you had the best day ever.

picknmix The bus? . They still have those???? What were you thinking ! Can't believe you are back at work whilst in pain, I thought there was a law against that. How are we supposed to know what is going on on daytime TV if you shirk your reporting duties and go back to work ?. All jokes aside, I am glad you feel well enough to go back, I bet you were bored out of your mind.

I've got to rush here. I kind of ran away from work yesterday at 3pm (I am hoping nobody noticed ), so I have to catch up. Caitni I did the 'I have a really important meeting' thing that I learnt from your collegues in the park that day .

OP posts:
07mumstheword · 19/09/2008 09:19

Bucky sounds like a great night out you deserve some fun don't feel guilty if your pg dream were to come true this month (which I hope it does) one night can't hurt

Caitni · 19/09/2008 11:04

Morning all

Bucky that sounds like a great night out - sometimes letting off some steam is the best thing you can do. I agree with 07MTW, if you are pregnant (and you hopefully are!), one night this early on is fine so don't feel guilty.

Ei I'm glad to hear you took yesterday off. And OPKs and pre-seed are a great plan. I bet this is the month you fall

JG I'm glad you got the appointment. Late nov is better than dec, as it'll come around sooner but also dec can get so hectic.

UniT how are you doing lady? Hope the belly button is clearing up and that you're taking care of yourself xx

Readyfornum2 it's not over til AF shows so don't lose hope! Hope you get preg just as easily as you did with your DS. Keep us posted of any symptoms!

MOB let me know what you think of the hypno thingy. I ordered a hypno CD the other day so shall hopefully also be melting like butter too lol

PnM enjoy Jersey! I'd love to go there, so hope you have an utterly swell time at the wedding. And poor you having to shlep to work with your broken foot. Nightmare!

07MTW hope you're doing well xx

And to everyone else I've left out.

I'm so glad it's Friday - I've got some drinks tonight for my birthday, but am planning to not go too mad (famous last words perhaps??) as the train back to Brighton after too many fizzy pops is not a huge amount of fun .

Caitni xx
