Thanks Sticki I have been taking cetrotide since D6 which is possibly a bit cautious . . . . I am expecting D17 for EC as well . . . we shall see. Good luck on your cycle . .

llI had the same issue with ICSI on my first cycle as I only had two eggs. The embryologist said he would make the call based on the sperm sample and in the end we did IVF and both fertilised. I am not sure how much your 'mixing' fears are grounded . . . I think once they're in the petri dish its more about the motility/strength of the sperm. . . but I am no expert. I am also on steriods in case I have killer cells . . . does this sometimes feel like we are challenging the Darwinian order?

Here's a thought LL is survival of the fittest so great after all ? Fittest in what sense? Some of the greatest artists/scientists etc have been sickly creatures . . . and I reckon the average serial killer is pretty 'fit'. It's all so bloody random anyway . . . .

Glad to see everyone is doing well. Scan went well today. Starting cetrotide tonight and EC will be Friday or Monday. Next scan is Wednesday.

Sorry - I'm being really crap at the moment but DH is away and has our laptop with him so I can only log on in work (I'm soooo busy at the moment)Normal service will resume as soon as he returns on Wednesday!

Lottie - pleased everything seems to be going well. Even if not quite matching up to your hopes. From my cycle buddy thread on FF there seemed to be a trend for those of us with many follicles to have quite a few empty, while the fewer follicles tended to end up with nearly an egg in each. And I also increased follicle number from day 10.

As far as ICSI goes, that's what we did and it worked (fertilisation rate tends to be better than with IVF), though I share your concerns and am presently worried that my babies aren't as strong as those that would have resulted from natural selection. I suspect this isn't a point that you will have to worry over - if the sperm is good enough they'll do IVF, if not, ICSI - embryologists call.

I am mainly stalking Lottie on the conception boards as my long term ttc companion, but wishing great follicle growth for everyone stimming at the moment

Hi LL I have had the busiest week for a long while - hence no posting . . . .

Good luck tomorrow, and take it easy afterwards, it is quite draining. I am expecting a Friday EC . . . but will find out for sure after my scan tomorrow . . .

I think Mowmi you are even with me, or later, so it will be up to you LL to plump up the pillows and put the kettle on in the 'waiting room'.

Hi all, can I join you?
We are about to start IVF somewhere, having just received a bit of cash from family. We live near the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary so are going to see them in January and also have an appointment for a clinic in Hungary, which I am about to postpone due to passport delay.
I am 42 and had my ds at 38, my DP is 33. DP has been given a clean bill of health and I have good hormone levels, but damaged tubes: one is definitely blocked and the other suspect.
I can't wait to chat to others in a similar position to us.

LL - 7 eggs! Well done! No wonder you are tired this afternoon. I laughed about your abba tune story - the memories it will bring back! Put your feet up and take it easy. Remember to drink lots of water....dull but helps recovery.

Good luck to everyone else too.

Treats · 03/12/2008 14:15

Hi lottie - glad it went well. 7 eggs sounds really good. Fingers crossed for Friday!

RahRah1 · 03/12/2008 15:28

7 Eggs - brill news Lottie... Fingers crossed for Friday....

rattling · 03/12/2008 16:18

Lottie - 7 eggs is fabulous! Hoping for a great fertilisation rate.

Rowingboat - I've just had my first and successful cycle at ERI so I'm a fan. Compared to private clinics they may seem a bit rushed, but I enjoyed the matter of fact attitude.

OMG! That really is very up to date IVF news Lottie, fantastic result for you. It's very interesting to hear what happens. Were you thinking of the Scandinavian link when you heard Abba and thinking how appropriate.
If I ever get married I will have that song as the first dance in your honour.

Hi Lottie, I do have an appointment - in January and supposedly I have an appointment in Hungary this month, but I am going to cancel because it's a bit too rushed and fraught at the moment.
Looking forward to the Christmas holidays and a few moments of peace (I hope).
Good luck with your eggs! I hope they all fertilise and grow well. How many do they put back in Norway?

BlueStarOverBethlehem · 03/12/2008 23:06

Popping on to say hi to everyone!

Yay - Lottie - 7 eggs! woohoo!
