yum! I think cake ought to help negate the side effects too

NappyValley · 03/11/2008 22:29

keep sniffing Lottie.

Cake, yes please!! Although obviously my body is under a strict regime to try and lose the extra weight gained during the last IVF cycle and get my bod in tip top condition ha ha ha.

But that whole ehtos did justify me going out and buying a Wii Fit at the weekend. I have no retail will power! .

did I miss something, but what happened to madoldbird ?????

Madoldbird · 04/11/2008 02:08

Sorry nappyvalley (and everyone else) for not updating! (Enjoy your wii fit BTW - I've got one and i love it)

Lots has happened since last week, but it's all been good so far! EC on Friday - got 13 eggs, which we were really pleased with, and the whole process was not too bad at all, only a little pain when he collected on the right hand side, as that ovary was tucked behind a bit of bowel. I opted for minimal sedation as i wanted to be able to remember some of it! On Saturday, 10 out of the 13 had fertilised, so we made the decision to freeze 3 at that stage and leave 7 to develop. Yesterday morning we had 2 lovely embryos - one grade 1 and one that the embryologist called a grade 2, but the dr said he would have given it a grade 1! We saw them on the screen which was amazing. So they have been popped back in - please hang on tight little ones!! I feel totally overwhelmed by the whole process at the moment - which is probably why i am awake at this unearthly hour!!

Hope everyone else is ok - lottie glad you have got started. Self medicating with cake as well sounds like an extremely good idea!

Thanks for the update MOB very exciting and so pleased it has been good so far.

Hope those embryos are clinging on tight. Fingers crossed for you.

When is your test day?

Madoldbird · 04/11/2008 16:30

lottie yes - DH & i did get quite emotional when we saw the embryos on the screen. In fact i was chatting to them - i think the dr must have thought i was mad! It's incredible to think they are potential human beings. The whole process is amazing. Those stats for your clinic are fantastic - it certainly won't be a bad thing for you to get your hopes up after working all that out - i believe that positive thinking is so important, and the clinic we go to do as well. After ET yesterday the dr shook my hand and said "you WILL be pregnant" i.e. really encouraging us to have a belief that it will work. Of course, like you say, i know that realistically it takes on average 3 cycles to achieve a pregnancy, but who's to say we won't both strike it lucky first time

nappy my test date is 16 November, and i'm already terrified at the thought!

It's been very quiet here lately. Hope everything is going okay for everyone. I would skim back through the last few posts to remind myself what everyone is up to, but that would require a touch of concentration, which I am utterly incapable of at the moment as I had my 7 week scan this morning and I have two healthy babies.

Not much work going on here today - I've taken next week off to get my head round the idea, but I imagine that won't nearly be long enough.

RahRah1 · 12/11/2008 14:49

OMG OMG OMG Many congratulations Rattling....

WOW Twins... Are they identical or different sacs?

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

My friend has just had IVF and she is having twins too..... My aunty and uncle are twins, but my nana never knew she was having twins until she was in labour... what a shocker!

DOUBLE TROUBLE!!!!! Hope you have a nice two weeks off work!

DH was there. Just smiled a lot till we were leaving the hospital when he had to have a wee sit down.

Rah - have read the other thread and things sound okay now? Hope that's right. Still wish you'd not had to have any kind of a scare - more than anyone you deserve the easiest pregnancy possible.

Lottie - only 2 weeks till treatment? That seems to be going by fast. While my countdown between scans is going slowly? Something weird happening there!

YEAH! Rattling! what wonderful news! congratulations! It's really scary and really exciting all at the same time! Just as I think I'm getting my head round the idea of 2, something spins me off into lala land.

I've got my 12 week scan booked for next week (thurs) and I'm graduating off my drugs (gestone and steroids) on Friday. That's my next big milestone.

But I have something to take my mind off the worry: we've had an offer on our flat so now we're waiting to see if that goes through, need to book a removal company, find somewhere to live, and move 1,500 miles by the end of the year. In comparison to getting pg, it'll be peasy.

bluestarlavender · 12/11/2008 21:45

Hi guys,

I've been lurking in the background, as I'm not actually being assisted right now. We're waiting for DH's second set of sperm test results...and then i guess we'll see what the next steps are.

Anyhow, I can't lurk and not say Congratulations to Rattling!!!! yay for twins

Bluestar x

Hi Ladies,

For those who remember me - sorry I've been quiet...just needed a break from it all after the failed cycle (forgive me!)

I have just had tears rolling down my face due to Rattling and Rah's fantastic news - I am so happy for you both!!

My update is we're getting back on the rollercoaster later this month - I'm doing antagonist cycle so no down regging. think I'll be on the Gonal F by about the 27th.

Hope everyone is well - congrats again ladies

Sooty - how you doing?

x

I'm still here . . . thanks for asking ll and mowmi. I have been having the week from hell. After having pleaded to go on as an extra on my Dr's list at Homerton (NHS) I am now still waiting for my period to arrive, I'm on day 43 and the last time I ever had to go more than 28 days is March 2006! And no, have done three pregnancy tests . . . . I think the stress of waiting for the go ahead for my appointment delayed my period. So now, after four years of not wanting it to arrive, I am desperately waiting for it to arrive before I miss my window of opportunity as my Dr goes away early December . . .

It's now six months since my last failed cycle (with an abandoned in between) and I am really starting to lose it . . . I am thinking this will be my last attempt.

So, as much as this may seem counter-intuitive for this thread please all pray that my period arrives before the end of the week . . .

Congrats Rattling and Rah on your pregnancies

Hi girls seems we've been having some good luck on this thread recently, congratulations to all the pg ladies - esp those with twins!
Unfortunately I don't have any good news - despite having what I thought was my period two weeks ago I have been diagnosed today with an ectopic pg. Had a bit of brown spotting yesterday and woke in the night with severe cramps on LH side. Rang out of hours GP who said it could be over stimultion on Clomid or ectopic pg. Did pg test, the only time I want a BFN and it's +ive. Straight off to early pg unit who scan me, take blood, poke and prod and confirm ep. Received great care from them and the epu was seperate from normal scanning/ maternity dept, which was really good after knowing some people's experiences. I only knew I was pg after I knew something was wrong so I'm feeling a bit bamboozled by emotions as well as physically being in pain. Am hoping I will m/c naturally as otherwise it means an op to remove the embryo and tube together, which terrifies me. Even if it's natural m/c I will be closely monitored for the next few weeks as they can't take the risk of anything being left behind in the tube. No idea what it means for IVF/future treatment, the doc at hospital said it could be up to 6 weeks before I'm given the all clear, but I'm not too sure what will happen after that. Roll on 2009 eh?

NappyValley · 14/11/2008 18:11

sooty - praying for AF. How frustating. try to relax, put on clary sage oil in an aromatherapy burner. It is relaxing and normalising. It can also bring a miscarriage btw.

rattling - I am stoked for you. It has been a long journey for you and the inner strngth you have had thus far will be what you need when 2 little screamers turn up. It will so be worth it.

mowmi - thinking of you

lottie - good luck with injections abroad. Don't stress about sniffs I think 45min will be fine. It is the TRIGGER INJECTION that is the one that really needs to be on time. 2 weeks to go, fingers crossed.

rah - thinking and praying for you

me - well it all seems so long ago our cycle now! we are not due for our follow up until dec 1 so we won't be doing anything until Jan. we have however talked about the fact that twins is not what DH wants, so we will only put 1 embryo back in at a time I think.

We'll see.

Good luck all.
