TTC after chemical pregnancy

LucyCL · 13/05/2024 16:51

I had a MC this Jan , 6 weeks and 1 day. Then I had a CP last Tuesday, 4 weeks and 6 days. I finally stopped bleeding today. Two pregnancies and two MCs so far.

I would like to know what your ttc experiences were like after CP. I admit I felt so lost when I saw the line getting fainter and I have been feeling very low and anxious for the last 7 days. However it is not healthy and it is time to be positive! So, I will be trying again this month. That is why I decided to start this thread.

CD19 of the third cycle post CP, also 2 dpo
There is another sharp rise in oral BBT, core BBT and wrist temperature. It could be caused by an increase in PdG or hot weather?
I was overheated last night so didn't sleep well.

Because of the sharp rise in all BBT, that made me wonder if it would have a negative impact on a fertilised egg.
Here is what I have found: Can overheating affect implantation?

Generally, embryos exposed to heat before implantation in the uterine wall either recover completely or are lost, either through failure to implant or embryonic death. This can result in increased pre-implantation losses which may pass unnoticed in humans.

Does heat help with implantation?
Avoid Excessive Heat – Exposing your body to excessive heat, such as hot baths, saunas, or hot tubs, should be avoided. Elevated body temperature may negatively impact embryo implantation. Stick to warm or lukewarm showers instead.

Does hot weather affect fertility?
https://eve-ivf.com/en/2023/08/21/does-hot-weather-affect-fertility/

"High temperatures can reduce the chances of conception. This is because heat can damage sperm and eggs, making it more difficult for them to meet and fertilize. One study found that women who lived in areas with high summer temperatures had a 20% lower chance of getting pregnant than women who lived in cooler areas."

So, I think the chance of conceiving is greatly (?) reduced by hot weather which means it is less likely for me to get a BFP this cycle.
I know I have just started 2WW but I have to take hot weather into consideration. 😂

Positive thought of the day
Sometimes our body needs time to recover from a MC/MCs and that is probably why we still haven't got our BFPs yet. Our body is still recovering and we have a greater chance to conceive each time when AF arrives. Perhaps, it would be more likely to be a viable pregnancy next time. 💙

OP posts:

In my case, I had the 1st MC in March and got pregnant in the second cycle then CP happened. I know there are so many factors for CP to happen however based on the first two cycles post CP, I now know that my body actually wasn't ready for a new pregnancy. It needed more time to recover. Maybe that is why my CP happened. Or I could be wrong.
I know that this cycle is returning to normal and I will be fine if my body still needs a bit more time to recover.

I hope everyone's cycle is getting back to normal. ❤

Hey @LucyCL, How are you doing?

I’m 10dpo today. I wasn’t going to test, because we only had sex once 4 days before ovulation this month for some complex reasons, so chances were low, and I’ve been feeling up and down… but my husband made a comment at the weekend about thinking I was pregnant and it played on my mind.

I got a VVFL this morning. I’m excited and giddy and scared. I don’t know whether to tell him or wait and try and protect him from future heartbreak. I don’t know whether to ask my doctor for progesterone.

I’m SO surprised!

That is amazing and I believe this is the second cycle post CP for you? I don't know if you know you have low progesterone however you could ask your GP for it if you think your CP was caused by low progesterone. I don't know if they will prescribe that easily. At this stage, if I were you, I'd start taking vitamins B6, E, D and Selenium to boost progesterone. You could still let him know and it could be a viable pregnancy. Please don't let your fear take control over you. Enjoy being pregnant! I am really happy for you! You mentioned that your cycle was back to normal which gives me hope! Haha, I have also got a normal cycle this time and I am being hopeful! 😂

So, I am a bit confused.
According to OvuSense, I am 4 dpo whereas 3 dpo based on Premom and Mira. 😐

I would like to share my charts to show how unreliable RHR and Wrist temperature are.
The night before last night I was overheated so I was worried that it might affect my core BBT. Last night I turned on my fan before I went to sleep. This morning there is a significant drop in wrist temperature whereas my core BBT more or less stayed the same.
This Monday and Tuesday my RHRs were over 70 because I was out both mornings and it was super hot. RHR was 65 for this Wednesday and this morning. I believe it is my true RHR. But yesterday's RHR was 55 and I have an explanation for this. Either it was affected by the nap I took after lunchtime or I went to a place which had air conditioning last night.
I have to take RHR and wrist temperature with a pinch of salt.

I am treating today (CD20) as 3 dpo. Pdg starts to rise continuously for 2 -3 days after ovulation. It also matches the drop in estrogen on CD17. 😁

I know it is not as exciting as getting a BFP but I am really happy with the continuous rise in Pdg! 😝

There are two ladies who had CPs and got BFPs the next cycle. Some people went on to have a viable pregnancy and some of them didn't. I accidently found out that they had early MCs afterwards. I recognised their names when I was being curious about what people were posting on mumsnet under Conception section. I am a bit in shock. I really hope that they recover physically and emotionally although I know that the pain will remain for a long time. Fingers crossed for them!❤

You must be a brilliant detective, @LucyCL!

Yeah, June was my CP, so I had July in between and now I’ve got a faint positive. I really hope it’s sticky!

Ironically my watch has tonight flagged up all the heart rate and temperature changes it alerted me to last time; too. So they are perhaps not good indicators, as HCG is detectable first!

Your screenshots look good. Ironically FF could not predict ovulation for me this month - it said the 22nd, but then went back to being (suspected) 22nd because it didn’t like my temperature data. I think because it’s just wrist temperature; my sleep isn’t great and it’s been hot! So I was treating both Mon & Tues as possible ovulation days, but I think it was Mon.

I just remembered you mentioned CD6 not long ago then today you said it was 10 dpo. So I reckon CD6 must be a typo and you must still be in your second cycle post CP.
Is it possible for you to share your RHR and wrist temperature charts? I am really curious about it.
I am feeling positive for your new pregnancy! Feel free to keep us updated on the progress! 😀

This morning my test is negative. I can still see the lines on yesterdays, but todays is blank.

What a head fuck.

I’ve had one proper period between CP & now, sorry if using months was confusing! I started bleeding for my CP in June, had a normal period in July, and now it’s August and I’d be due on Monday.

I’ll screenshot my RHR & WT charts in a bit, although I’m not sure they say much. It’s the notifications of change that I found more interesting!

YouveGotAFastCar · 03/08/2024 06:49

It’s too late to edit that post now, so an update… checked the test again after my shower and there’s a very faint line but it wasn’t there within the timeframe.

The only thing I can think of is that I had a few drinks with a client on Thursday night, as I thought I was out this month, and maybe that dehydrated me enough to show a stronger positive? Last night I had non-alcoholic drinks, so they won’t have had the same effect. I guess it’s pretty early, still. But my heart is saying it’s not good news. My head is desperately hoping it’s not happening again.

I’m not sure whether to keep testing or resist the urge and just pray I get past next Friday. I’d be five weeks on the 13th so then out of the woods for a chemical but not for anything else going wrong. I suspect it’ll be a long and anxious wait for an early scan, but hopefully I’m not totally out. I’m so confused.

CD 21, 4 dpo, the third cycle post CP
There is a positive correlation between progesterone and BBT however I don’t see it when I compare both cycles.
I have higher pdg this cycle but my BBT remained around 36.9 last cycle and the same this cycle.
Sadly elevated BBT can’t reflect on how high the progesterone level is. But we know that BBT drops down to baseline when AF arrives and the progesterone level is decreasing sharply.

My core BBT remains around 36.93 and My oral BBT also doesn’t reflect a higher pdg level. Will need to collect more data. Also FMU might be diluted for some days.

12 doo or 7 dpo for me today depending which surge I ovulated on! As I mentioned earlier, with my Chemical I definitely ovulated on surge 1 of the two I saw that month.
I did a quick test on E@H on day 9 (from surge 1) as one boob only had been quite painful and I had a few cramps. Far too early anyway. I could see a very faint second line but I know I have had shocking incidents on these and FRER in the past so I have pretty much ignored it. Will probably give it a few days and test again if AF hasnt arrived.

Seeing more of us getting pregnant is definitely making me feel more positive! After all, this thread is not a good girl club to join! I’d rather see more of us leaving this club with your BFPs! Of course, the ones who have got their BFPs are welcome to see how the rest of us are doing. I’ll also be interested in knowing how they get on with their new pregnancies!

Since my 1st MC, feel like I have learnt so much about ttc and I’d graduate from this if there was a proper degree.😂

I have been really emotional since the O day and DH said that my body was really hot to touch. I know It is all caused by high progesterone level.

I also want to say that PdG is only supposed to be used to confirm ovulation. So, I will not use it to predict pregnancy. But I will keep using Mira to monitor PdG level because I don’t want to see it being low like the last cycle.😉
