Am I still pregnant? Or chemical?

Last week I had light bleeding which I thought was my period starting. It was only when wiping for a few days. (Weds/ thurs)

On Monday I tested positive on a CB early digital 🥳

By Tuesday I was spotting again! Only light again, lasted less than 24 hours.
In my last pregnancy I had no bleeding so I don't have experience of any of this.

Wednesday I got '1-2 weeks pregnant'
I have done a few cheapies since and they seem light for around 20DPO, pic attached. The dates can't be that wrong because I track ovulation and sex.

Am I still pregnant? Should I test again? Will tests still show positive if Iv had a chemical?
Should I ask my doctor to do bloods? When will my period come if I have miscarried?

Am I still pregnant? Or chemical?

I had almost this exact scenario happen to me, twice, last year.

The first time my HCG went up and down and they wanted to give me methotrexate but I didn't want to (because you can't try again for 3 months) I held out and it resolved naturally eventually. I did have to go to the EPU every week until it was less than 2. That took 7 weeks.

The second time my HCG was much more increased (over 3000) but nothing on the scan. They strongly advised I took methotrexate. I did. It was fine physically. Mentally it was horrible. Again I had to go back weekly for bloods. This one took 10 weeks to get to less than 2.

Happy for you to PM me if you have any more questions?

justpeachy1234 · 08/05/2024 11:17

@Babynamechange111

Iv been asked to go again today to see another consultant.

The company I work for actually have a pregnancy loss policy, so I get 2 weeks off. But il have to go back on Monday! I was hoping it would all be resolved by then, but it's not looking likely 😩

@askmenothing

God, that sounds awful, sorry you went through it.

It sounds like I'm in for a long slog! I just really want it to be over now. But I'm keen to not get the medication because I don't want to wait another 3 months to TTC again 😩 I guess il have to see what they say.

The monitoring is also driving me mad, I don't want to go every other day!

With both ways, did your cycles come back quickly? How quickly did you get a BFP after the first?

OP posts:
askmenothing · 08/05/2024 11:49

Thank you, it was a rough 6 months. The first one resolved by the end of July and I got my next BFP on 14th Nov

The constant monitoring was really hard; the second (after the methotrexate) I ended up staying off work for 2 months. I was just so drained and emotionally fucked.

We started trying again last month, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Goodluck today OP

justpeachy1234 · 08/05/2024 18:37

I had a scan and they still can't see anything.
Had bloods but don't think I'll get the results until tomorrow.

Consultant just said they can't give me treatment until they can find something. Until then I have to keep being monitored. I'm sick of it all! EPU just isn't where I want to be!

OP posts:
askmenothing · 08/05/2024 20:12

I'm sorry you're going through this. Hopefully bloods will come back reduced and they will discharge you to wait it out. They just make you take a test in a couple of weeks to confirm it's negative. They you can continue TTC.

Blimey, OP. I keep checking in to see if you have any answers. I’m so sorry you’re still none to wiser. I’m 🤞🤞🤞 you get some kind of answer soon.

justpeachy1234 · 09/05/2024 20:08

I got my results from yesterday. Now 870 up from 612 on Monday!
The static increase means I need another blood tests on sat.

They asked for another scan on Monday but Iv said I can't as it will be my first day back at work! Iv had 2 weeks off and I really need to go back. I'm surprised there is no treatment/ progress in 2 weeks 😩

askmenothing · 09/05/2024 20:18

Oh goodness OP, I'm sorry!! I'm not sure if it helps but this is erily familiar. I kept saying the same that, I just wanted it to be done so I could move on. Hang in there!

Cloclo93 · 13/05/2024 07:38

Just read your whole thread! I'm so confused are you definitely miscarrying? Why is your hcg rising? 🥺

justpeachy1234 · 13/05/2024 10:44

I had another blood test on sat, results up again to 1,230!

I'm not sure what's going on! BUT Iv had some bleeding 🥳 not as heavy as a period, but more substantial than before! And it's had a few cots in it (sorry if TMI) so I'm praying that it's passing!

Iv got a scan booked tomorrow so hopefully I'm going to get some resolution soon 🤞🏼

Sending happy thoughts!! It might be that they want to medically manage it now. How you doing emotionally? It's tough!

PinkFrogss · 13/05/2024 11:52

I haven’t posted before as have no real advice or knowledge, but just wanted to say OP I’ve been reading your posts and thinking of you over the last week.

Hope you’re able to get some real answers and help soon Flowers

TheShellBeach · 13/05/2024 12:00

This is so odd @justpeachy1234 with your numbers getting higher.
I hope you get a resolution soon.

justpeachy1234 · 13/05/2024 12:50

@askmenothing

Thanks. Ermm I'm okay. Iv been finding all the monitoring torture! And I'm upset about losing the baby. I know it was only a short period of thinking I was pregnant but I'm struggling around pregnant friends etc. I hope we can TTC again soon.

I'm back at work today but taking it easy which is nice. I'm hoping the bleeding is a good sign and my results/ scan tomorrow will start to show a decline 🤞🏼

@PinkFrogss

Thanks for messaging. Yeah it's been a crazy few weeks! I didn't even know this was a thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

justpeachy1234 · 13/05/2024 12:55

@TheShellBeach

Yeah I really hope so. I wonder if early tests/ scans cause lots of stress in these situations. I wonder if it would have just passed by 9/10 weeks naturally!? Obviously that would be devastating but this way has been awful!

OP posts:
justpeachy1234 · 13/05/2024 23:12

Hi,

The bleeding has carried on and been consistent all day. I haven't got any pain and doesn't look heavier than a period.

Can I assume I'm having a miscarriage?

Iv got a scan tomorrow morning booked, do you think I still need to go? Should I call them in the morning?

Could I leave it and test in a few weeks to see if my levels have dropped?

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 13/05/2024 23:18

Hi @justpeachy1234 I think you should go for the scan and see if they have some sort of plan for you.
You may be starting to miscarry but as your hCG levels have not been predictable I think they need to see what's going on.

justpeachy1234 · 13/05/2024 23:23

@TheShellBeach

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I'm just very fed up of going to the hospital. I'm really really hoping this is a positive sign and it's concluding!

Do you think I might still need medication?

If they could never find anything and now I'm bleeding, do you think they'd see anything on the scan?

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 13/05/2024 23:42

Do you think I might still need medication

Yes, that's definitely still on the cards, unfortunately.

justpeachy1234 · 14/05/2024 07:53

@TheShellBeach

Oh really... I was hoping it's just passing naturally.

Il go to my appointment and see what they say

OP posts:
McConkeysPlate · 14/05/2024 09:24

@justpeachy1234 good luck this morning. I am in a similar situation. Just at the hospital for more bloods. Still nothing on a scan so they have assumed ectopic x

justpeachy1234 · 14/05/2024 11:44

@McConkeysPlate

Sorry, it's awful isn't it!

How long have you been monitored for? Has your HCG been going up?

Iv just had another scan and they still can't see anything. Hopefully my bloods later will show reduced HCG
