Should I prepare for the worse?

Hi ladies. I'm currently 13DPO. AF is due on Wednesday. I got a vv faint positive at 9/10DPO. Iv had 3 consecutive miscarriages so my anxiety is through the roof. Going to call EPAU this morning as I can self refer. These are my latest test (the digi was taken yesterday at 12DPO) just looking for a bit of support, re assurance or for some honesty.

Congratulations! (You might want to get the scan photo removed as it has your name on it).

I’ve been lurking too OP, and so so pleased for you! I did the same too when I was pregnant - looked online and saw that a private clinic 10 mins away had an appointment in an hour’s time…so happily went off and only told my husband after so he doesn’t change my mind! Enjoy these moments OP! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

JNicko · 03/05/2024 18:50

@Starbugg aww thank you 🥰 yes I just thought what the hell with it! And it was defo worth it x

@JNicko when is your next scan?

LW678 · 08/05/2024 15:39

@JNicko just looked back on the thread and saw it was yesterday. Did it go ahead? If so, I really hope everything went ok x

JNicko · 08/05/2024 17:01

@LW678 yes it went ahead. What a stressful time I had though.

So Sonographer did the scan and was dead silent for 10-15mins. She then asked if I had any bleeding etc and said no. She then said I can see very small pregnancy but no heartbeat. Well my heart just dropped and I started welling up. She had no bedside manner really and seemed in experienced.

I then explained I had a private scan 4 days prior and they found a heartbeat and dated me at 6+3.

She then said do I want a second opinion with her senior. So in came someone else more senior and after 5 mins found baby and heartbeat. But dated me at 6+2.

I was so traumatised I can't tell you. Had to sit with the nurse for an hour after where she explained everything is fine and normal and said NOT to go for private scans. And dating this early isn't going to be accurate. She was lovely tbh.

But yeah I'm just a bag of nerves now tbh. Booked me in for a scan in 3 weeks.

@JNicko I have booked a scan for Saturday. The lack of symptoms is stressing me out!

JNicko · 09/05/2024 07:37

@LW678 it's torture isn't it. I feel you. I'm sure everything will be fine. Let us know how you get on x

Oh OP. That sounds terrifying but glad it worked out in the end. Although sounds like the issue was you had a very inexperienced sonographer who gave you wrong yet heartbreaking news which potentially could have ended terribly rather than the private scan dating you wrong!

JNicko · 09/05/2024 08:25

@Starbugg I know it was draining! Imagine if I hadn't gone for the private scan and I wouldn't have known there was a heartbeat and told them. I would have just took what she said for granted.

Why did they tell you not to go for private scans? They exactly the same as NHS and just as accurate 🙄 I have had loads of private scans and all were accurate matching what the nhs scans were. Please don't be put off going for private scans especially if it gives you reassurance.

Your still early and measurements can be off so hopefully that's why you have had different measurements. I'd just be a bit concerned if baby hasn't grown since the previous scan with the private scanning place. Sorry not to worry you as I know it can still all be ok.

Yes I know and I do worry about that. I'll be honest how shit they was at NHS trying to find it I don't trust what they have said at all.

Private scans can be problematic as the sonographer might not be that experienced and therefore doesn’t spot something worrying or does but doesn’t say anything. Any private scan I did was with an obstetrician for that very reason.

So it therefore depends on why you’re having a private scan. Just to look at the baby - fine. To check anything over - probably not.
