Have been trying for 7 months, brought ovulation sticks, still nada. Last month period was 4 days late - i was elated especially as i have been tracking like clockwork since the summer.

Period came and the cramps were the worst they have ever been and very heavy flow. Would have loved to have had 2/3 children, but am now worried as Im 35 and focused on my career all this time. Only to quit last year due to burn out and now focusing on mental and physical health.

Seems like a catch 22 situation and now I feel stuck, anxious, worried, did i make the right decision with anything? No mat leave, no children. Could really use some helpful opinions please.

I conceived as easily at 25 as I did at 35 (very quickly) but everyone is different

@BrandySnaps1 keep us posted! 🤞

My clearblue advanced ovulation test was a blank circle Monday morning and then a solid smiley i.e. peak by midnight that day... so it has messed my ovulation prediction a bit? Flo now says I'm ovulating tomorrow whereas before it said it should have been on Monday ie day 14. Who knows. Not sure I rate these tests! Regretting not starting BBT now. Will keep DTD this week just in case.

But essentially I should now be in my dreaded two week wait.

Everything crossed for you. Im about to head out and get a test because still no AF, 5 days late.

All of this is so expensive though. ANyone got any favourite tests? Will a boots own brand one do?

@BrandySnaps1 congratulations!!!!🥳
I think that 7 months is still considered pretty "normal"- I'm 36 and started trying at around 35, ended up looking into infertility after a year of trying. We got there in the end and I think I'm 6 weeks now! Just found out a week ago today and it's been a weeiiiereddd week I wake up not believing it! What's your estimated due date??

m00ngirl · 27/01/2024 08:25

@BrandySnaps1 such wonderful news!!! Have you told DP yet? What are your symptoms like?

@californiacooper congrats on your great news after such a long time trying!! What worked for you in the end?

californiacooper · 27/01/2024 09:19

@m00ngirl thank you :)
Umm well a shit-ton of hormone injections (I went abroad for IVF stimulation for a freeze all cycle nov/dec and conceived while waiting to go back for my transfer! (The cycle after the stim so the hormones sorted out my ovaries I think)

m00ngirl · 27/01/2024 09:25

@californiacooper what a great way for it to work out! I'm now in dreaded TWW but if it doesn't work out this month I'm going to the GP... not sure what to expect

Dkerry · 27/01/2024 09:38

Had my first and only child at 42, now 47 with a 5 year old, I say he keeps me young.. its definitely not too late at 35.. but get checked out at the doctors, say you've been trying a year as you would still meet the criteria for help on the nhs x

CoolSummer89 · 27/01/2024 15:44

Congratulations OP, was going to come on here and say I am a bit earlier on in my journey, same age, and wishing you the best - but I see you have had happy news! Delighted for you. Please sprinkle a bit of you lucky dust my way ✨

Thank you ladies all so much. I cant tell you how much this forum helped in making me feel less lonely. A lot of friends had kids in their 20s/early 30s and I was so worried Id left it too late.

Even though we did start having unprotected sex in the summer of 23, i didnt start tracking through ovulation sticks and my app until September. But after i ran out of the sticks after xmas i thought id go down the fertitlity/gp route because we were having sex at exactly the right time and still nothing. We DTD at the beginning of the year but I had no idea if it was the 'right' time because my period the month before was late. Lo and behold when i stopped stressing and being so obsessive about doing it, it happened.

My advice would be dnt be so regimented, and have a little fun with your other half. I think for DH it was pressure too, once we stopped thinking about it, it magically happened

We sound pretty similar then! You may be just 6 months older than me. I think I am 6 weeks on monday but i cant be too sure. NHS due date calcualtor says end of Sept. What about you?

Hve you booked in for your first midwife appt yet?

Thank you girl! Ive been looking out for you on the thread as our story seems so similar.

So far I am SO bloated, really tired, and have slight lower back pain. My 2 pregnancy tests had a really strong test line and someone on another forum said the old wives tales says that could be twins!

I told DP over factime unfortuantely, hes away and said he might have to go away again end of february. My first midwife appointment is then, so before he booked anything in I showed him the positive test and he said he was so happy. I couldnt hold it in anymore!

Are you late on your period? How are you feeling?

Good luck hun. All i can say is even though its cliche, once we stop stressing something seems to happen. In my case anyway.

Wishing you all the best. How long have you been trying?

I'm on cycle day 3. Period came Thursday. 45th cycle of ttc here we go. Accupunture again Tuesday so I'm hoping this cycle it will help as I only had 1 session and that was a week before Af arrived.

Have u had private hormone and fertility testing
With hertility health ?

@BrandySnaps1 the nhs thingy is saying 22nd sep for me, I've booked a scan next weekend when I estimate I'll be 7 weeks.

No im not saying anything to GP/midwife until after I have the scan and I know that everything's ok...

So you're doing the private scan first? I also looked at this, can you tell me how it goes please?

Why aren't you telling gp/midwife yet? From reading online, once you refer to your preferred hospital it can take some time for them to book an appointment. Mine only took a few days but my appointment isnt for over a month.

Just entered my second cycle. I think we were a bit nervous for the first one so DH and I have agreed we're going to try and have as much fun/keep it relaxed as possible.

@BrandySnaps1 I only conceived naturally because I had just finished IVF stimulation the cycle before. I went abroad for treatment after the dr (a friend of a friend) advised me to have a couple of tests over here - My Frosties are currently frozen and I was waiting for my period to start to prepare to go back for transfer. In the meantime, my NHS referral came through finally (first started having tests November 2022) and I had my first appointment with them a few weeks ago. They have done my AMH blood test and I am waiting for an appointment for a scan. I don't want to jeopardise any possible NHS round of IVF if this pregnancy isn't viable. I'm not in a position to fund endless cycles of IVF. I know that sounds quite negative but I have to be realistic (I had about a 20% chance of the transfer working, this is a shock and a surprise and not what was expected, or part of the plan but obviously it is perfect). So I'm
Waiting until I know everything is where it should be.
