I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

@2020newbie congrats! That looks like a great start for 9DPO!

@ReginaPhalange12 sorry AF showed. At least you're on to the next cycle now though. There's nothing worse than being in limbo. Fingers crossed for this month!

@Mariex1989 If you're worried about ovulation pain, it might be worth a scan? Is it debilitating, like you can't straighten up? I ask because I have the same thing and I've got a cyst.🙄

Ladies, I have no idea what's going on with my AF. I had literally one cramp and spotting two days early (prob because we DTD), full flow a day early. It lasted only two days (normally AF is 3 full days for me), nothing for a day and now I'm spotting again. I also had wicked nausea Saturday night and it definitely wasn't food poisoning. Felt very pissed off knowing it wasn't pregnancy. I'm so hoping I'm not entering peri-menopause. 😩

Wow @2020newbie Just saw your post! Congratulations!! 🎉

PerfectPairOfPlums · 07/08/2023 09:43

Congratulations @2020newbie

PerfectPairOfPlums · 07/08/2023 09:44

@deliwoman1 it's horrible when AF isn't the same and messes with us

Mariex1989 · 07/08/2023 09:49

@2020newbie awww congratulations! Wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy 😊.

@deliwoman1 I have thought about potential cysts! I had a scan yearsssss ago and they mentioned them, but nothing was done or ever mentioned again.
I feel horrific today, sickly and as though I’m coming down with something. So I think it could be a coincidence that I’ve picked something up around ovulation 🙄

xx

Sorry I have been AWOL, work is just a nightmare at the moment so I have just gone into a hole of doing nothing most evenings for some reason. Period started yesterday which completely threw me as since having my daughter my cycles have been longer and coming around day 34 instead of 27 and this cycle it turned up day 29.
I have had some upd and downs recently about whether I can cope with a second child but it comes down to is that I would regret it if we didn't try for another child.
I am going to start taking pre conception vitamins soon. Not sure if anyone will know this but I take iron supplements as I have had an iron deficiency ever since I had my c section. Can I take iron supplements as well as the pre conception vitamins as the iron levels aren't high enough for me in the tablets x

@2020newbie congrats. Is this the first positive of the group. That's very strong for 9dpo?? High HCG!!!

I am sitting here excited to start my first month of actively TTC!! Anyone else sitting there working out when their due date would be if they got pregnant this month?? I realised I would be induced when my sister is in Orlando and be 37 weeks the day she went away. My daughter was born at 34 weeks when my sister was in...Orlando!! So hopefully it would be a sign I'd carry to term this time haha. Or I'll conceive next month and end up having another 34 weeker. 🤔

RedRobyn2021 · 07/08/2023 13:27

@2020newbie congratulations! How are you feeling?

2020newbie · 07/08/2023 13:58

@RedRobyn2021 right now fine! I had hg last time and if this one’s the same I have approximately 10 days until I’ll be feeling rubbish so I’m almost planning ahead for it to hit now

RichTeaCheddars · 07/08/2023 13:59

@2020newbie congratulations!
I had HG too, it started before my period was even due so I hadn't even taken a test yet. I hope you aren't as bad this time.

2020newbie · 07/08/2023 14:02

@RichTeaCheddars thats so early! Did anything help you? I eventually gave up on anti sickness they made me so drowsy and constipated and didn’t completely get rid of the sickness or nausea

RichTeaCheddars · 07/08/2023 14:22

I had prochlorperazine and cyclizine. They didn't completely get read of the nausea but it did reduce how much I was sick. I struggled to get any food and drink down. Admitted to hospital at 7 weeks and fortunately not again after that although I'm sure I would have been close in the early weeks.
I'm going to have to keep pushing for different meds next time otherwise I just won't get through it. I was off work sick from 9 weeks to 20 weeks last time and didn't have a toddler to look after!

Mummysparrow · 07/08/2023 16:31

@Bells3032 yeah I am. I have a wedding to go in June in Cyprus so its one of the maint reasons I am holding off until October to start trying so I can still go to the wedding 😂

OP posts:
Bells3032 · 07/08/2023 16:37

@Mummysparrow how many weeks would that make you at the wedding?? I would be too anxious to travel post 26 weeks myself. One of my in laws friends is coming to the wedding next week and she's gonna be 34 weeks and I am sat that in awe and terror as I had my daughter at that gestation and wouldn't even dream of being more than like an hour from home (I also had a very fast labour lol so even more so).

Mummysparrow · 07/08/2023 17:55

@Bells3032 I just realised it would make me 8 months so I may wait until December 😂
I was 41 weeks when my daughter was evicted by emergency c section 😂 so I am prepared to go full time

@Mummysparrow ah, AF is so contrary sometimes, just when you need it to be predictable. I can empathise with that this month! Sorry to hear of your ups and downs, too. I’m always going back and forth as well, mainly how I’d handle worst case scenarios, though even with the best situation I worry I won’t cope too. It’s hard, but yes, like you living with regret is something I don’t want to do either! A Cyprus wedding sounds lovely. Great reason to wait!

@Bells3032 If I’m lucky enough to conceive this month it’ll be a mid-May due date, I think. My DD was born end of June by ELCS at 39+4 so it would be perfect tbh.

I had hg last time too :( are you nervous about it?

Have you been to the gp already?

SillyFillyDress · 07/08/2023 21:35

Hey 👋!
May I join? TTC baby #2 for a little bit less than a year now. The first pregnancy was unplanned and very easy for me. 4 years later I'm struggling to conceive with the same partner. I had quite a journey. After my periods restarted I almost always have spotting a few days before the next period (occasionally it starts right after ovulation). I was diagnosed with pcos (although my cycles are regular and I'm rather underweight), had hysteroscopy and had one chemical pregnancy. I'm 34 so have some time but I'm not sure if I'm ready for 6+ years age gap. Today I'm 9-11 dpo, no spotting so far (fabulous!) but negative test. Before this year I want not sure if I want a second kid. Now sometimes I think I want 3))) You always want what you can't get)))

Savvy21 · 07/08/2023 23:56

I haven't updated in awhile. Still ttc no.2 but I think I've lost track of the no. Of cycle. Didn't opk this month so no idea what day I'm on. Maybe 8dpo.
@SillyFillyDress Hiya - can definitely empathise we've been trying awhile too and I've started feeling the pressure of an age gap. I don't like having no control over it!

Twdfn123 · 08/08/2023 06:17

Hi all, thought I'd join this thread and say hello 👋 my partner and I have a beautiful 21 month old and decided this month to start trying for our 2nd. My period is now 1 day late and I've had brown spotting so took a test, wasn't expecting anything at all as I'm not in the best shape of life but i think this may be positive?! I can't quite believe it and feel like my eyes are deceiving me..it took us almost 2 years for our firstborn. 😱second guessing myself that this is positive now...

Whose trying to conceive baby no2 this year?
PerfectPairOfPlums · 08/08/2023 07:11

@Twdfn123 congratulations! That is definitely positive

@Mummysparrow I have to take iron tablets everyday too. I think the midwife may have asked me to take a specific type in my last pregnancy but can't remember which one so once I get a bfp I will make sure I ask

Mummysparrow · 08/08/2023 08:00

@PerfectPairOfPlums of that's good to know ☺️
@SillyFillyDress I get spotting a few days before my period since have my daughter and I never got it before. I was considering doing a private hormone check and now I am wondering if I should. My cycle lengths also changed but still considered regular

SillyFillyDress · 08/08/2023 09:35

@Mummysparrow I checked thyroid and progesterone this month (private). Still waiting for the results. Hope that will give me a clue what's going on.
