Hi everyone, thought I'd try making us a second thread now the old one is done -

Tagging @Triselly @lemons44 @CR7 @Flowerlover010 @pongom @WholeZebra @TheBirdintheCave @SarahShorty - will go back to the thread and see if there's anyone else to add in, but do tag those I've missed!

I'm 5DPO in a natural try. I am hopeful, kind of. If the witch is to return , it'll be 20th May.

TheBirdintheCave · 11/05/2023 20:27

@SarahShorty I can't remember, do you have embryos in the freezer?

SarahShorty · 11/05/2023 20:44

@TheBirdintheCave Yepyep. I have 4 frosties left. The first one transferred on March 21st didn't make it.

charja100 · 11/05/2023 20:45

CR7 · 09/05/2023 23:46

@charja100 So my second failed transfer was with a pgta embryo which “should” have worked. I had three pgta embryos and now was down to two. I wanted to go straight into another cycle and they said no because there “should” be a reason why it didn’t work. I knew I had endo probs and googled and discovered Ema / Alice. I brought this up on the call with my consultant and he suggested endemeTRIO testing with a Hysteroscopy. Endemetrio testing is done on what would be transfer day, hence the mock cycle. It’s basically like a dress rehearsal. Was my body capable of receiving the embryo after all the drugs. I was able to have both of these tests done on transfer day, luckily for me. In order to ensure I was ready for the surgery on exactly the right day ( my clinic only does endemeTRIO testing on a Tuesday) we had to carefully plan everything and therefore I did norethisterone and then buserelin to time it exactly. That is the beauty of those two drugs. The dr can totally manipulate my cycle and therefore was able to do the mock cycle ending in endemtrio testing and Hysteroscopy on the day I would have had my transfer.

results were - displaced implantation window (by a whole day) so I was on six days of progesterone not five which is the norm. I was also given a blood test on transfer day which showed my progesterone was still low so I was given extra injections. Never had the transfer day blood test before . My biome also came back a bit off but I was recommended to do vaginal probiotics after the Hysteroscopy so I’d managed to treat that already as it’s the same treatment.

phew hope that makes sense .

Thank you for this. Educating myself on what might be challenges for ourselves. Understanding other experiences helps to know what tests are out there for us.

TheBirdintheCave · 11/05/2023 21:43

@SarahShorty Interested to know how you're mentally processing a natural try with frosties waiting (if that makes sense!) I'm faced with the same situation now and could try naturally in June before our first planned transfer... I just don't know if I could bring myself to attempt it. I feel like I owe it to the embryos we already made to wait. Is that weird? Or is that a common feeling 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, the thought of having 'wasted' £5k and a whole load of effort/discomfort if we get a miracle is pretty galling.

Sorry if this is a strange question!

charja100 · 11/05/2023 21:52

@RunningOnHope what a strong positive! How confusing that it's so strong. It really could be the haemotoma. It's hard to think what else it could be. Thinking of you and hoping for positive news.

Also thinking of you @Triselly hope you're okay and really keeping my fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you.

@CR7 you'll have to update us on the result of your blood test.

SarahShorty · 11/05/2023 22:48

@TheBirdintheCave not strange at all xx Everyone has their own way. If by some miracle we do get lucky this cycle and we get a baby at the end of it, we can then use the remaining frosties (which will be younger) to give our first little one a sibling, when we're ready. We know it's unlikely that all 4 will make it, the first one didn't.

TheBirdintheCave · 11/05/2023 22:57

@SarahShorty I really hope you do get lucky 😬

RunningOnHope · 12/05/2023 11:53

@Triselly Thinking of you waiting for news this afternoon. My bleeding is back again after a few hours reprieve 🙄

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 12/05/2023 11:58

@RunningOnHope When is your scan?

RunningOnHope · 12/05/2023 12:00

@TheBirdintheCave appointment is 3.50. I actually don't know if they'll scan, do bloods or what. I've been told to take a urine sample but I assume they won't just do a clear blue 😂

SaraSS · 12/05/2023 12:01

Hi everyone! Sorry to just keep jumping on this thread - you're all very knowledgeable and kind.
I've had my first scan today on day 6 of stims, I have 10 follicles, but only 1 is over 10mm. They've increased the dose of stims but said if no change my Monday then we might have to cancel the cycle. Have any of you been in this situation? How did it go for you?
I have AMH 10 and I'm 32.
Just feel disappointed and annoyed at my body 😞

Triselly · 12/05/2023 12:20

@RunningOnHope cheers, I’m thinking of you too xx also snap, bleeding has also returned, though only lightly.

@SaraSS oh I am sorry to hear that, how frustrating for you. I don’t have experience of that happening but I would guess that at least this way they can adjust your doses and even though you may have to wait and start again, it may be worth it for s better result xx

TheBirdintheCave · 12/05/2023 12:22

@RunningOnHope Ah annoying that it's such a long wait for you :(

SarahShorty · 12/05/2023 12:36

@TheBirdintheCave Thank you xx

@SaraSS it sounds like your body isn't responding to the stims in the way the clinic is expecting. It's only day 6, so it's not too bad. If they do have to cancel the cycle, they'll make some adjustments to your protocol. These adjustments can be things like changing the dose, changing the medication and/or potentially extending the protocol by a few days or so. IVF is not yet an exact science and is still very much trial and error, though, once they've found the right mix of things for you, they'll start a new cycle. I wish you all the best xx

Triselly · 12/05/2023 13:50

Hey guys… my blood levels are in, my hcg has gone up from 23 to 57 today. Absolutely stumped but at the moment it’s very cautiously good news.

The nurse says she thinks it’s probably either an empty egg sac still producing hcg, or ectopic as I’ve had heavy bleeding. But then she said bleeding can be normal so not to give up hope.

Which is a massive improvement on being told we had lost it at the start of the week, even if the odds are it’s not viable.

God could I do with a giant glass of wine right now… but still sticking with water for now.

Hope you are all having good days xx

TheBirdintheCave · 12/05/2023 14:05

@Triselly That's great! I'm glad you have some hope back now :)

Triselly · 12/05/2023 14:09

God is it stressful hope though! 😅 Have you heard anything about your embryos yet @TheBirdintheCave ?

TheBirdintheCave · 12/05/2023 14:14

@Triselly 4pm is when they've said they'll call us :)

RunningOnHope · 12/05/2023 15:12

Well done @Triselly, you're coping with the uncertainty like a trooper! What's next for you - will they keep monitoring on bloods or leave it for a while?

TheBirdintheCave · 12/05/2023 16:23

Shit, I'm in a huge panic again. Day three call I couldn't join in so had to get relayed info from my ADHD husband who asked none of the correct questions. All the info I have is:

There are eight very good embryos.
There are others that look good.

I don't think we're going to end up with any now 😭 Eight after starting with 21 is awful.

SarahShorty · 12/05/2023 16:37

@TheBirdintheCave I don't think that's awful. Before I embarked on IVF, my clinic made us sit through some educational modules. We studied the numbers and found that attrition rate is about 1/3. A third of 21 is 7, so I'd say 8 is about what's expected. 8 very good embryos with a few others is really very good.

TheBirdintheCave · 12/05/2023 16:47

@SarahShorty No one ever told us anything like that. I wish I'd been able to be on the call too. Sorry I feel stupid for panicking, it just sounds like such a big drop.

SarahShorty · 12/05/2023 16:51

@TheBirdintheCave it absolutely is a big drop, I agree with you there xx The aim of the game is quality over quantity. As long as you have a nice number of very good quality embryos, you're already ahead. Don't feel stupid xx TTC is a tough journey.

RunningOnHope · 12/05/2023 17:42

@TheBirdintheCave that's amazing to have 8 very good ones! None of ours were near quality, we had 4 average ones. So the good ones on top as well will give you an amazing number.

But of course all your feelings are valid, and I understand the drop feels tough xx
