New thread for those of us now trying for the first babies of 2024, may we all be lucky this month!

I'm CD1 today of cycle 6 ttc my second.
Had a chemical at the end of February and lots of illness in March so revved up to give this month all I've got!

@Angelselevenx I use my watch for temping so I temped the whole way through as I wear it all the time I like to see how much sleep I get or don't get πŸ™Š. When I was using a thermometer I didn't bother temping past a BFP couldn't be bothered with the agro πŸ˜‚ ahh that's good I'm glad it's now back to normal I have heard it can be a bit whacky after a cp πŸ™„ where are you in your cycle?

Angelselevenx · 31/05/2023 13:54

@bringmearainbow oh yes of course I remember you saying!

I'm 7dpo, O came a day early this month so if my luteal phase is also a day longer I'd be due AF Monday if not then I'm due on Sunday. Current temp but tbh this doesn't really tell me anything πŸ˜…

@Angelselevenx oooh 7dpo the better side of the tww πŸ™Š lp usually stays the same length I believe so I would go with Sunday if it was me. Are you holding out or testing early?

Angelselevenx · 31/05/2023 14:01

@bringmearainbow definitely the better part although it's dragging! I tested yesterday LOL which was obviously negative. Haven't bothered since not going to disappoint myself and just hold out for AF and see what my temp does, if it drops I know I'm out!

Silverpixiebear · 31/05/2023 17:41

Hi hope it's ok to jump in 😊

TTC baby no.2, DD is 2.5 and started this month. Feel like I can't remember anything about trying for a baby even though it wasn't that long ago!

CD11 and negative ovulation test but I never had a positive one with my daughter. Hopefully will get a positive one in next couple of days πŸ€”

bringmearainbow · 31/05/2023 19:49

@Angelselevenx lol there's been a couple of times I've tested early when I expect it to be negative then wait it out I found it really hard πŸ˜‚

@Silverpixiebear keep testing hopefully you'll see one what time are you doing the opks?

Silverpixieflorence · 31/05/2023 20:27

@bringmearainbow I tested at 1pm today, maybe it needs to be later in the day or it's still too early in my cycle I'm not really sure

bringmearainbow · 31/05/2023 20:30

@Silverpixieflorence could be a bit of both. How long are your cycles normally? A positive at CD11 would mean quite a short cycle. I usually do my opks about 6/7pm I have a super quick rise. it rises in the evening hits peak by about 10am the next day then by the evening it's dropped again so could be your rise is very quick if you didn't see one previously

Silverpixieflorence · 01/06/2023 08:27

@bringmearainbow cycle is always 28 days. Oh see this is what I mean I've completely forgotten everything πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ on my flo app it says ovulation in 2 days so I thought I would at least have a smiley face today as I'm so regular. I'll test early evening tonight I think

bringmearainbow · 01/06/2023 09:32

@Silverpixieflorence oh are you using clear blue? If you are you need to use first morning urine for those. You'll get back into the swing of it quickly

CatLadyH · 01/06/2023 10:56

@Silverpixieflorence I was in exactly the same boat using CB ovulation tests with a regular 28/29 day cycle. According to the test I didn’t ovulate until CD18. I was using Flo as well to track and it was saying I should ovulate earlier.

Kat4257 · 01/06/2023 11:20

Realised I just sort of creeped up on here and didn't do an intro... sorry!

I'm TTC no2, first cycle but looks like i won't be pregnant this month. My DD is 16 months but with her we never tracked ovulation or times sex or anything, just got pregnant on month 1 of trying after stopping contraception and "seeing how it goes". So I'm very much a newbie to the whole process but thank you so much everyone for answering my very basic little questions so far. Hopefully we'll all be chatting about our 2024 babies very soon, not the conception πŸ™πŸΌ

@lottieb92 AF due the 11th for me aswell actually, going to try and hold out and not test til then πŸ˜‚

lottieb92 · 01/06/2023 14:06

@Daniki super hope we can maintain sanity together haha…
I am due about 14th but going to wait until 11th if I can πŸ™ˆ I haven’t been tracking as much as I can as giving that a rest for a bit - but I just typed into clear blue - and it’s told me I can test then πŸ‘πŸ»

Daniki · 01/06/2023 14:07

@lottieb92 try and hold out! I'm the same I really want to be strong this time after the chemical πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

Silverpixieflorence · 01/06/2023 14:39

@bringmearainbow oh πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ thank you lovely it might help if I read the instructions properly πŸ˜… I'll try again tomorrow morning!

@CatLadyH i think I might have ovulated late when I got pregnant with my DD from memory. If you ovulate late though will the cycle still be 28 days or will it be slightly longer?

bringmearainbow · 01/06/2023 14:44

@Silverpixieflorence πŸ˜‚ that's ok it's what we're here for. You might O a little late aswell. I have a 11 day LP rather than the industry's "14" day standard it assumes everyone has so if you had a shorter LP like a 12 day one you might O around CD16. You just have to keep going with the sticks to try and figure it out

Silverpixieflorence · 01/06/2023 14:46

I just got a flashing smiley!! My first one ever πŸ₯³ Yippee! I was going to try tomorrow morning but got a bit of CM so thought I'd do another one on the off chance!

Once my DH has finished doing some DIY I'm going to grab him πŸ˜‚

Hope you are all ok today, is anyone testing soon?

TTCno1x · 01/06/2023 17:14

@Silverpixieflorence just to let you know, the clear blue ovulation tests have to be used in the morning. The reason is that each digital reader reads a baseline with your morning urine (always an empty circle) and then compared the levels every subsequent morning. Maybe it would work in the afternoons if you always measure in the afternoon though (if the first time you used that reader was in the afternoon as well). It took me 4 months to work this out! I was getting over a week (sometimes 2 weeks) of flashing smileys before a solid smiley as I was testing in the afternoon and it messed up the readings! Hope you don't mind me saying, I wish someone had told me 6 months ago! I tested in the mornings the last 2 months and it worked perfect, 2 to 3 days of flashing, then solid. This might not be the case for you but something to be aware of!

lottieb92 · 01/06/2023 21:15

@Silverpixieflorence yay! I find the advance CB more complex than the one that only pin points two days πŸ˜…
but I got a flashing one morning this week and then that afternoon I had cramps/ pain and knew it was going to be ovulation did a second that evening and there the solid was!

sometimes youre just better trusting that instinct to test!! X

Silverpixieflorence · 01/06/2023 21:23

@TTCno1x oh thank you so much for telling me really appreciate it! I had no idea, so does the clear blue digital have a memory then? Not sure whether to do one tomorrow morning or in the afternoon πŸ€” the first one I did was in the afternoon so do I continue with that? Or have I messed it all up this month πŸ˜…

TTCno1x · 01/06/2023 21:26

Oh you are so welcome! It does have a memory! And then it resets after it isn't used for a few days so it can record the new baseline the following month. I'm sure you haven't messed it up. I'm not an expert so someone else might be able to advise better, I think my problem was that I was doing it at different times! So the holder got very confused! You could try the cheaper strip OPKs alongside this month to make sure you don't miss your peak?

Silverpixieflorence · 01/06/2023 21:39

@lottieb92 that's good hope it's the one for you this month! 🀞
I had no idea it was so complicated I can't remember what I did last time but I'm pretty sure I was doing it all wrong anyway. So with the advanced one does that mean in theory there are 3/4 days where you get flashing smileys and 1 day a solid smiley?

@TTCno1x good idea I might get some cheaper strips as well just to make sure. It's going to feel like all I'm doing is weeing on sticks constantly πŸ˜‚

Savvy21 · 02/06/2023 08:15

@Silverpixieflorence @TTCno1x your conversation has really cleared things up for me too so thank you. I had no idea how important it was to test at the sane time each day.
