Anyone out there starting/continuing IVF treatment next month (April 2023)?

I’m 36, first time everything, and due to start stims early April. Wondering if there are others who might like a thread to chat/vent?

If you’re out there and in a similar position, let me know!

@TheBirdintheCave 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

RunningOnHope · 05/05/2023 13:57

@TheBirdintheCave that's my favourite number too! Has been since I was a kid. Hope it's good luck!

TheBirdintheCave · 05/05/2023 14:51

@RunningOnHope No way, really?? I am obsessed with the number 4 in general and always have been. Our wedding car even had 444 in the license plate 😂

lemons44 · 05/05/2023 14:58

@RunningOnHope sorry you had some spotting. Really hoping that you're still going to get the outcome you want 💗

@TheBirdintheCave wowzers! That's a lot of follicles!! I know it's frustrating having a freeze all but as you say hopefully with this many follicles you will get LOTS of good embryos to freeze! Are you having ICSI or normal IVF to fertilise the eggs?

@CR7 I am ok today thank you for checking in 😊 I do feel a bit sore and possibly even a bit swollen and bruised down there. But I think this is to be expected as the doctor had to really push and twist all the different speculums so it's no wonder really. I've been a bit cheeky today and actually pulled a work sick day 🙊 i never normally take sick days but I really wanted to rest after yesterday. So just watching some girly films on the sofa today with my dog 😊 how are you doing?

Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend. We are keeping our fingers crossed for our Saturday morning call on embryo number 2 xx

TheBirdintheCave · 05/05/2023 15:13

@lemons44 Originally ICSI but my husband's last sperm sample was normal (shockingly) so it's regular IVF now unless they tell us otherwise :)

RunningOnHope · 05/05/2023 17:58

Brown blood has gone red for me, and what with the fading test and pains this morning, I think that's us out.

Absolutely rooting for the rest of you though!

lemons44 · 05/05/2023 18:03

Sorry @RunningOnHope ☹️ sending you a big hug 💗 xx

CR7 · 05/05/2023 18:03

@lemons44 I have taken the full two weeks. Proud of you for getting through yesterday and glad you've listened to your body xx

Triselly · 05/05/2023 18:05

I think you definitely deserve a day off @lemons44 ! Hope you’ve had a chill day to recover.

@TheBirdintheCave That’s such great news with your follicle count! Can I ask why you’re doing a freeze all?

How are you doing at keeping yourself busy, @CR7 ?

I’ve nearly taken the 2 weeks off too, but today I caved as I was getting a bit lonely and stir crazy and went into work for a bit.

@RunningOnHope so sorry. Thinking of you.

Triselly · 05/05/2023 18:47

@RunningOnHope I’m so so sorry to hear that - I really hope you’re doing alright this evening and thinking of you ❤️

@RunningOnHope I'm so sorry xx

TheBirdintheCave · 05/05/2023 19:09

@Triselly With such a large follicle count I'm now very high risk for OHSS unfortunately so they won't take the chance of a transfer as pregnancy can exacerbate OHSS ☹️

TheBirdintheCave · 05/05/2023 19:09

@RunningOnHope So sorry to hear that ☹️

RunningOnHope · 05/05/2023 19:20

@TheBirdintheCave my cousin had OHSS and recommended to me that I have a freeze all if I had even the slightest hint of it. She said her body was absolutely more ready to receive the embryo when she was on better form the next month. Another relative recommended the same and she didn't have OHSS - she just felt that the fresh cycle was wasted because she was so exhausted from all the stuff so far, and her first FET succeeded. It must be so frustrating to be told you must freeze all, but I guess you might look back one day and think it was a positive thing.

SarahShorty · 05/05/2023 19:22

@TheBirdintheCave I had the same thing happen. Had to do a freeze-all because the extra HCG from a pregnancy so soon after an EC might have put me in hospital and risked the life of the baby. Severe OHSS is not something you want to deal with.

RunningOnHope · 05/05/2023 19:30

SO sorry to drag you all into my drama. I took one last test tonight thinking it might be completely negative by now and give me some certainty/closure. It's still reasonably faint but the strongest one yet.

I hereby declare I will take NO more tests until OTD on Monday and be done with it!

Don't be like me. Be like @CR7. Never test early.

IVF April 2023 - looking for buddies!
TheBirdintheCave · 05/05/2023 19:48

@RunningOnHope No worries here! We all love a bit of line spotting 😂 That's definitely the clearest one yet! 😬

CR7 · 05/05/2023 20:42

@RunningOnHope haha you're very kind xx I promise it's not easy. I don't want you to think I am lying on a cloud of calm and I don't worry or give a sh1t etc. I just know that a two week mental rollercoaster is not for me. As I said I would rather be in a hope bubble xx we are almost there

CR7 · 05/05/2023 20:48

@Triselly I'm in the lakes for ten days with my lovely friend. That way I can't be tempted to go into work haha. Also plenty of rest and relaxation so it does actually feel like a good use of two weeks holiday instead of being at home wondering and spiralling xx

lemons44 · 05/05/2023 20:48

@RunningOnHope 100% I can see a line !! but I would deffo put the tests away now as you will drive yourself mad over the next few days! Easy said than done though I know. Keeping everything crossed for you for Monday 🤞🏼

My clinic have given me a urine stick test and a self finger prick blood test to do three days after a urine one. Didn't expect to be given the blood one x

RunningOnHope · 05/05/2023 21:03

@lemons44 ooh the blood test is good, might be reassuring at least especially if there's any doubt at all over lines!

CR7 · 05/05/2023 21:12

@lemons44 love the blood test idea

CR7 · 06/05/2023 08:15

@RunningOnHope @lemons44 @TheBirdintheCave @Triselly and everyone else, how are we all today x
