Hi All.

This is a continuation from my past thread, but no need to go read that one if you're new here!

Quick TD;LR from the old post (but with up to date info) - I'm 31, OH is 35. We are TTC baby #1. Been TTC since Jan 2022, now on cycle 14. Haven't told anyone to avoid pressure.

Feel free to post any questions, thoughts, whinges, celebrations, basically anything here!

Going to try to be a bit more positive than I was toward the end of the last thread 😂

Love & baby dust to all. Wishing for BFPs for everyone this year 💖

Not my month this month. Period has come on and, as a bonus, a migraine too. Spending all morning vomiting but not pregnant is not what I had in mind for my day!

Feliciacat · 01/04/2023 19:59

@BeeLieve86 I am so sad to hear your news. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I think I am being thick here but if you both have low egg and sperm levels; can’t they just extract them? So IVF can still work? I hope so.

My DP and I are not trying this month because he has a prostate infection. My period is due mid April and he should be better by then. We’re getting married in May! Just eloping to Gretna Green. I guess it could be romantic to have a honeymoon baby. I’ve been so naive and was convinced I’d be several months pregnant at the wedding!

Livlaughloathe · 01/04/2023 23:16

@TinyDancer91 how frustrating that you keep not getting results for the SA but good that you are now getting the referral!

I’ve seen about the seven seas ones but not looked at the Holland and Barrett. I get so confused seeing all the different ingredients.

@Alexis7890 yes I’m the same I’ve only taken the folic acid. Sorry I’m really naive, what are the side effects? I can imagine a certain level of unpleasantness with pessaries in general though 😩 fingers crossed for you this cycle! But if not, it’s good to know that they will quite quickly get the ball rolling with ivf.

I’m hoping that I can request a call with the same Doctor I spoke to the first time and he will see his own notes on my record about doing the day 21 blood test and just arrange for it this cycle 🤞🏼 I’m currently still spotting on and off, no feeling of my period coming. Never had it this long before so it’s driving me mad.

@BeeLieve86 that news must have been very tough, give yourself the time and space to process it. Once you get past the initial shock, hopefully there are avenues you can discuss and explore. But for now, be kind to yourself and look after each other x

Livlaughloathe · 05/04/2023 08:42

So AF arrived for me with a vengeance! I spoke to the docs yesterday and have rearranged my day 21 progesterone test so now we just wait for that to come around and go from there.

How is everyone doing so far this week?

Alexis7890 · 05/04/2023 09:04

@Livlaughloathe thats good that you’ve got it arranged!!

still in the tww with Saturday being 14dpo. I caved and did a FRER today and it was positive…..but the trigger could still be in my system so I’m going to test daily now and see what happens between today and Sunday and if it’s still there Sunday I might actually believe it!

Livlaughloathe · 05/04/2023 10:58

@Alexis7890 oh my goodness, I’ve got everything crossed for you!! ✨🤞🏼The next few days waiting will be a rollercoaster of emotions im sure!

Alexis7890 · 05/04/2023 11:03

@Livlaughloathe thank you, my gut feeling is it’s not real because I’ve tested too early but I still hope I’m wrong! Plus I have fully accepted the ivf plan. Plus if it is real my brain is already at no guarantees it will stick etc. fun few days to wait!!

Alexis7890 · 05/04/2023 11:22

Bright red blood when I went to the loo so now I have no idea what to think!

TinyDancer91 · 08/04/2023 00:19

@Alexis7890 any updates? I've not been on here for about a week so missed this in weds! Fingers crossed you've got some good news...

Af arrived for on Tuesday. We also received our referral letter on Thursday. First available appointment is 16th August!! It also mentioned that the average wait for treatment is 58 weeks! 😩

Not sure how much I will be online next week as it's my birthday, although I don't really feel like celebrating it this year to be honest...

Alexis7890 · 08/04/2023 09:49

@TinyDancer91 im still having positive tests and no more bleeding. Just taking it day by day scared it won’t last but so far so good

if your experience of treatment is like mine then the first appointment is key, from once we had that appointment things went quickly with going through the tests and coming up with a treatment plan so that might start from then? Different areas might work differently, I’m in the Bristol area and it all moved fairly fast.

hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy your birthday as much as you can

Yolo23 · 11/04/2023 15:45

@TinyDancer91 ive just been catching up on here. So sorry to hear all you’re going through. I hope you can take some time to enjoy your birthday and have some comfort knowing that while the appt seems ages away, just think how much time has gone by - you’re on the right track now so fingers crossed.

Im in my TWW after having a 35 day cycle last month which was really bizarre! It seems to have messed my ovulation up too unless I ovulated early. Who knows!? So this month is a complete wild card. Trying not to symptom spot but easier said than done…….

TinyDancer91 · 16/04/2023 19:10

@Alexis7890 how are you doing? Please tell me you still have a BFP 🤞🏻

@Yolo23 are you still in the TWW?

My update - we have had results back from OH's second SA. He has both a low count and low motility, so chance of us conceiving naturally are slim to none... so now we are just waiting for the app in August to see where we go from here. I thought it would bring me some comfort knowing the results, but now I'm not so sure. Think I'm still processing it all.

Love to all 💕

@TinyDancer91 still positive! I’ll have a viability scan on the 2md may, it still doesn’t feel real or like it will last though!

that’s good you got the results, my husbands results weren’t ideal, this was our final OI attempt and if this doesn’t stay (and I think even the doctors weren’t convinced this would work for us) then we will do IVF with icsi. I’m not a doctor but I would assume that might be what they will offer you? August will be here in no time!! Hope you have lots of nice plans to enjoy the spring and summer time before the appointment x

taytay2020 · 26/04/2023 14:24

Hi everyone! I'm back with a fertility treatment update. It sounds like there are a few of us on here experiencing the low semen count and low motility issue, so I thought it'd be good to share my experience as I go. We had our first appointment together at the start of March, and our second one today. The doctor today was FAB and explained things so so well.

My test results (internal ultrasound and blood test for hormones/thyroid/egg count) have all come back good (I'm 35). I opted not to have the HSG test (checking if tubes are blocked), although this doctor actually explained why I might want it whereas the last doctor didn't - however she agreed that it didn't seem necessary as I don't have any indicators of a tube problem.

DH had an ultrasound of his testes (all fine) but his blood test results (checking levels of hormones FSH and LH for sperm production, and also genetic testing) weren't back so our next step is a phone call next week after she's chased results.

We know that IVF with ICSI is our only chance. The results of the blood test will need to be discussed but are unlikely to change anything (unless there's a chromosome issue that would affect future children, I guess). The lovely doctor also explained how these results might affect DH's future health, unrelated to having children, which was really helpful to know. She was also looking ahead to child #2(!) and suggested that the results might indicate that it's a good idea for DH to freeze some sperm now in case his count goes down by next year. (This is about £300, and isn't nhs funded.)

After that... apparently NHS funding for IVF takes two weeks, and there's no waiting list for treatment in our area, so.... I guess things are probably happening soon?!

IsLarryFromSomething · 30/04/2023 11:58

That sounds like a good update! Fingers crossed it is soon and successful!

I have had a rollercoaster of a cycle, random spotting 3x (days 10, 20 and 29) but no period on day 30 so far. Has this happened to anyone else? Pregnancy test negative.

CatLadyH · 02/05/2023 18:05

We are now out of the Zika incubation window following our honeymoon. About to start our TTC journey now, it’s such a minefield! Just trying to relax.

IsLarryFromSomething · 06/05/2023 18:08

My period is 6 days late but pregnancy tests are still negative. In a week and a half I am having a blood test to see what's up with some other things going on - will this indicate if I am pregnant or not definitively? My doctor said to keep testing til I get my period and my husband is treating me like I'm made of glass, but if my tests are negative I'm having trouble imagining that I might be pregnant.

Anonbaby · 07/05/2023 09:08

Hi @TinyDancer91 may I ask what your husbands SA results were please? My husband has had poor results over the last 6 months but we already have 2 children. Trying to decide whether to see a urologist and pursue it or just give up on having another baby as it’s been over 2 years off TTC now x

TinyDancer91 · 21/05/2023 22:43

@Anonbaby sorry for the delayed response. We've not been given the actual numbers. OH has been referred to urologist, just waiting for appointment

@Alexis7890 how are you doing? Is it good news for you? 🤞🏻

@IsLarryFromSomething how are you? Did AF arrive for you (or have you get an answer why?)

OP posts:
IsLarryFromSomething · 21/05/2023 22:49

I'm ok thank you! AF arrives 9 days late and was an absolute bloodbath, really adds insult to injury doesn't it?

taytay2020 · 23/05/2023 11:45

Hi gang!

@IsLarryFromSomething Sorry to hear AF turned up so late! It really does get your hopes up doesn't it?

@CatLadyH good luck and enjoy your travels!

@TinyDancer91 sounds like my DH's results were similar to yours. It didn't really come as a surprise or shock to us at that point, it was just good to know that things were finally happening after two years of waiting around.

We finally got the last of DH's blood test results and it was all good news. We'll definitely need ICSI but everything else looks good - DH's genetics, my general womb area and egg count, etc. Our NHS funding application was submitted last week, so next step is waiting for a letter in early June to choose a fertility clinic for our funded round of ICSI. Apparently there's no waiting list so I guess things might be happening really soon, which feels unreal.

Obviously there are STILL no guarantees but we just bought a proper soccer mom car so it's pretty obvious we're getting our hopes up...

Feliciacat · 23/05/2023 11:53

@taytay2020 that is so cute about your new soccer Mom car; congrats on the purchase! I just got a new car too and we got it with family in mind; it’s a very exciting thought isn’t it?

I’ve not been on this thread in a bit and it’s impossible to reply to everyone :( I am glad that people seem to be getting fertility tests where necessary. It sounds like the service is pretty good so at least there’s that. Also sounds like paying extra for things like sperm freezing is worth it if it’s ‘only’ £300. It’s a stretch to pay but the cost is worth it to be a parent I suppose?

I got a BFN for my 5th cycle. Onto my sixth now. I get married on Thursday and should ovulate around that time too. If we’re successful then the baby would be due around my partner’s birthday. So I’d love it if this could be the month; it would be so significant!

Ditzydaisychain · 10/06/2023 12:18

@Feliciacat I hope you had a lovely wedding! Fingers crossed for you this cycle 🤞🏼

I’m in the middle of my TWW and finally this month have been able to make myself not analyse every twinge and symptom, as I know I’m only winding myself up. I feel so much more relaxed and my anxious thoughts have been minimal.

I hope everyone is well and enjoys this lovely sunny weekend
