@Feliciacat that sounds promising! Keeping everything crossed for you!
So, we all know that my journey hasn't exactly been straight forward 😂 and why would this step be any different! I went in on 11th at about 2pm after the hospital called to say they finally had a bed for me. Arrived and was taken to labour ward and the other ward upstairs was actually full (where I was supposed to be). Had obs done, all fine, apparently cervix was tilted back so needed to come forward but baby's head was right there so probably wouldn't have been much longer if we'd have waited anyway. 2:30pm was given 1ml of the gel to get thing started. All fine (or so we thought!). A few hours later I'm told I must be super sensitive to the gel as it was making me have 7 contractions every 10 mins and they only wanted me to have 4 max. They weren't strong or painful at this stage either, just lots very close together. 11:30pm I was given an injection to slow everything down again... 😂
Admitted to the ward upstairs at 3am (which meant OH had to go home at 3am) and told they were aiming to take me back down at 6am to break my waters. OH came back at 8am which is the earliest he was allowed in, I managed to get 1 hour of sleep that night...
Anyway, 12th, sat in the ward waiting to go back down to labour suite, 3pm they finally have space for me down in labour suite again! So back down we go, 3 attempts to break my waters as they couldn't get a pocket big enough to do it due to where baby's head was! That set everything off at 100mph! Contracts ramped right up to the point I couldn't move while having one, I was in tears! Had paracetamol, did nothing. Tried gas & air, hated it! Opted for epidural, which was fitted very quickly afterwards (thankfully anaesthetist was free to do it). Immediately felt better, I could still feel my whole body but it took the pain away. Epidural was fitted at approx 7:30pm, drip fitted to help with contractions started at 8:30pm. I was pushing by about 3am.
They had a dr ready to use the ventouse and another to do an episiotomy, didn't need either in the end and she arrived before they had chance 😂
Baby girl was born at 3:55am on 13th Feb, weighing 7lb 8oz and is perfectly healthy. We were back home by 1:30pm that day!
So, here she is, baby Charlotte Amelia 🥰 we are so grateful and blessed to have her finally in our arms!
I'm sure I've probably left out some details that you may want, so if I have, please ask! Nothing is off limits 😊
Love to all!
